Was told they fixed what my son said was wrong and admitted they did not read the codes showing on the dash OR test drive the vehicle when done. Sent me to a specialist for a 2nd opinion who said a mechanic should have known the repair was not going to fix the issue based on the codes. Shared specialist findings with Jeff, the owner of Independence, who immediately went on the defensive. Disagreed with specialist's findings, denied knowledge of conversations we had with his manager about issues with the truck and scheduling the repair, made excuses for why they did not properly diagnose the main issue and share this info with us. Acted like my son and I were the mechanics, and they just blindly followed the single note on the drop off envelope and ignored all conversations. Additional note... when the Manager called with the price quote they found "additional" work on a ball joint they recommended. We said to told them not to repair the ball joint and they responded that they'll just go ahead with repairing the transmission. The day we picked up the truck the transmission was still not working, engine codes still on. Owner refuses to refund or discount any of the repairs they did that per the specialist should not have been done.

About a month or so later, the brakes were still squeaking. I called Clinton and they got me right back in. We are now on the 3rd set of brakes trying to get this right. It's a Dodge Challenger and they do not come without their challenges. Chris and Clinton have been pounding away at this to make sure it's right. I appreciate the tenacity and not wanting me to leave unhappy. Thank you guys, it's been a journey with these brakes. There were shady things said and done: virtually no communication, parts ordered (without my approval) that were not part of the original work requested, another problem found weeks after the work was initially started, mechanic tells me he doesn't know what is going on with my car weeks after they obtained it that I needed to talk to his father. The father, Jeff, was evasive and unreachable at times. Driving to the garage my car was parked in the same spot got nearly 30 days. All the while Jeff knew I needed my car, that I was going into debt in order to rent a vehicle so my daughter nor I lost our jobs, we could go on dr visits and get groceries.

Calling people all over Roc and in the more rural areas, everyone either had no clue as to what was going on and was trying to sell me stuff, or they did not even want to take a look. Talking with the guy on the phone, he was immediately concerned about my situation and car and had me drop by so he could take a look. He did not have to, but he gave his time to take a OBD2 reading of my car and a visual inspection of it. He let me know the info I was given was false. Although, he did not have time to do a repair, he also advised that I should watch out for scamming mechanics and if I ever need a second opinion, to call him. He was super concerned and did not want to see me get taken advantage of by other mechanics and their shops. People like this don't exist in NY and it's amazing to see an honest person provide input and support!

A full description of all issues is beyond reasonable length…read morefor a review, overall I found this shop and ownership to be untrustworthy, unknowledgeable, and incredibly dishonest on more than one occasion. got a $900 quote for a driveshaft replacement that turned into a $1400 job after several days of delay and no updates. the job only needing less than a handful of hours was originally estimated to be completed same day, and while delays can happen not only was I not updated of any delay, every time I called for updates after their time estimates had passed I was told the vehicle was actively being worked on which I now find likely to be untrue. within days/weeks of having the repair made my vehicle went to a mechanic for an unrelated issue and was determined immediately with a visual inspection my vehicle needed extensive frame repair. The repairs were so dire the vehicle was immediately deemed unsafe and this second mechanic refused to even examine the vehicle further stating it was beyond atleast reasonable repair. These damages were not only never mentioned to me by pats auto prior to service but i received and entire stack of paperwork outlining damages, repairs and other suggested maintenance work that should be done on my vehicle, including rust protection to the frame!! When confronted with this issue the owner informed me they do frame repairs in house and before issuing my requested refund wanted to take a look at the vehicle in attempt to make said repairs to get the vehicle back on the road for atleast a somewhat reasonable amount of time. After hearing the owners plans and estimated longevity for the frame repairs I consented provided they would be suitable to pass a nys inspection and at this point the owner declined to do any work stating the vehicle was beyond reasonable repair. It's worth mentioning this vehicle was most certainly in very poor condition atleast cosmetically going into the shop, regardless it falls under good faith at the very least to inform a customer of such severe damage it is a major safety concern. Not only was i not informed of these major issues but the initial vehicle inspection report has been altered sometime between my vehicle leaving their shop after refusing to do the work they offered and the writing of this review and photos will be attached. Additionally a refund was offered in exchange for the newly installed part however there was never any discussion or even any indication that in doing so my vehicle would be returned back to its running/driving yet damaged condition it was delivered in and that parts would simply be removed.

Within days the suspension issues returned and the after less than 3 months the alignment was so off both front tires were shredded and needed to be replaced. Will never take another vehicle there and will certainly not recommend them to anyone.
