NOTE: I want anyone who reads this review to read the first two paragraphs the most. It shows the…read morecare that Firestone has put into resolving my problem. I have turned my one star into a five star because I value customer service. UPDATE: I made a call to the regional manager who immediately helped put this forward to this store. After dropping it off, I met with this nice manager Don (I think that's how you spell it) and he helped get everything together. He took a look and determined that it likely wasn't the brakes at all and offered to fix the problem with no cost to me as I just paid for brakes I likely didn't need. So thank you to the Firestone team for their help. ORIGINAL: I have a Jeep Wrangler and I needed it to be serviced. I won't pretend I'm any type of person that is very aware of things that can go wrong but I am absolutely aware that my brakes have nothing to do with squeaking when turning since I literally had just gotten new brakes. Alas, I allowed them to give me their professional opinion about the brakes and may I say that was a big mistake. Firstly, they found multiple problems about my Jeep and I dumbly went with the flow and accepted it. However, first, they do not tell me that the time to repair my jeep is no longer originally one day. I have to call to my surprise to be told that the "dealership isn't open on weekends" and that this special part for my Jeep is needed. Strike number one not telling me the expected time table for my car. Secondly, they put on brand new brakes that DO NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. Strike number two. Thirdly, they literally had to have turned my car in order to park in the parking lot to return it to me and whoever drove it didn't notice it was still squeaking? Is this a joke??? Strike number three. That's literally unreal. This place used to be great and there were good managers and "specialists" and "technicians" that knew what they were talking about. This... is just unreal. I go to complain and he looks at me and says "do you want us to take a look?" $1300 later and they're going to now potentially charge me more money to fix the problem I originally came in to fix. Absolutely insane. I know he is just doing his job but you're going to hold my car hostage some more because your mechanics can't do their jobs to begin with? Unreal.

Took my car in for an oil change and inspection. They offered me the synthetic lunge with tire…read morerotation and other crap which was more expensive than the regular one, but I took it anyway. When I got out of my car, I decided to mark one of the tires to make sure that they did do the tire rotation. I also had a brake light out and told them to change that bulb. After several hours, they told me my inspection failed because my windshield wipers were broken and my brake light on my hatchback was not working. They wanted $177 to change the lightbulb on the hatchback. I said no and I told them that I just gotten the windshield wipers from advanced auto a few months ago so I'm gonna go back there to see if they can fix it or if they could give me a discount on other ones. I picked up my car and noticed that the tire was still in the same place I told the manager he apologized and said he would do it himself right now. Took my car, went to a store and then went to advanced auto. Ask the sales clerk if you could check my windshield wiper and fix it or can we get a new one. He came out and looked at the wiper. He said they failed you on this the little cap at the end. It was literally missing. He said I can give you a free cap and put it on there for you. I asked him if he can look at the brake light that they said wasn't working and he pulled it out and he said it was broken and there's a piece of tape holding it up. I couldn't believe it. I was shocked and angry. He told me too turn the car on and step on the break which I did and he said the light is working. I couldn't believe it. That's what they said wasn't working and failed me on that also. I drove back to the Firestone, which is at McKinley Mall in Blasdell NY but they were closed already I went the next day and asked for the manager, but he wasn't there and spoke to another person and explained to him everything that happened. He insisted they did not break the light. It might've been there from before gave me all these excuses and then he said go in the car and turn the brake on. I did and he said that light is working but the left one isn't I said are you freaking kidding me? That's the one that I paid you guys $60 to fix and that's not fixed also he told me to come back that they would fix it I am so infuriated. I did not want to go back there. I called corporate and told him what happened. They filed a claim and told me someone will call me within 48 hours. The person that called me was the manager from the store. I told him that I don't want them to service the vehicle. I want to service it somewhere else and they can pay for it and I'm waiting for corporate to call me back. I called corporate again. They told me that they'll escalated to the regional manager and he'll call me back within 48 hours. I call back at the end of the second day since he hadn't called me back and they said oh it's not 48 hours yet so I waited till the following day that point it was 72 hours since I still hadn't gotten a call from the regional manager. They assured me that they were concerned about the matter and I would hear from somebody. We did another 48 hours still no one called me back called one more time. At this point, it was almost the end of the month and I needed to have my car fixed so I had no choice but went back to them to get it fixed. They fixed it and I have yet to have a call from the regional manager. The technician even apologized himself, but I'm not sure what he was apologizing for that he didn't do his job or that he purposely did all this or did didn't do what he was supposed to do. Assistant supervisor that day gave me excuses as to oh it could happen. We're human mistakes happen. One mistake, happens three do not just happen. I told her I would've let it go at this point however since I have not gotten a call from the regional manager, I will be writing reviews everywhere and also I will contact New York State inspection to let them know that they are purposely failing people so they can charge their money to fix things that don't need fixing. Disgusted and I should've read all these review reviews before I went to them. I can't believe they're still in business too.

One day last September, I got out of work and came out to a flat tire in the parking lot. I was distraught, it was a holiday and had no idea where I was getting it replaced. Everyone was closed...or so I thought. I ended up calling around and called Mr Tire. They told me they were open and had time to fit me in right away, on a holiday?? Replaced all my tires (and gave me a deal!) How extremely grateful I was! Fast forward, I recently ran over a very small piece of metal, And they stepped up once again and helped me out. The team at this location is my personal favorite. They are kind and friendly and have helped me out of each issue I've had within 6 months. I am so grateful to have found a company with such accountability and such patience. Service really speaks for itself and I will be coming back again in the future. If you're looking for a reason to go here. This is it! Good luck to whomever reads this :)

They wont consider the swipe we did in front of their staff and was promised to give the credit when we come back after changing the tires. Now I got pissed off and totally they lost the business from me. This appears like they are cheating their customers.

They called me at 9am asking how soon i I could bring the car in, and I could immediately sense the incompetence. He told me shocks and struts take a long time to replace. Said it could take a long time so he kept insisting I drop it off instead of waiting. I corrected him and said its just the 120 point inspection. The website estimates 45 minutes. He asked if it was just a New York State inspection like he didn't understand the services they have listed on the site. I corrected him again and asked for the 120 point. "Just bring it in." So I did. Keys were in their hands before 9:45am. He told the tech it was in for an NYS inspection. And yet again I had to correct him on the services I made an appointment for. Since an Uber back home is $30 one way without a tip, I walked to Walmart and hung out for about 2 hours with no updates. I decided to head back and hoped they at least had a chance to get started on it but saw it still parked where I had left it. I went inside and asked for an update. He said they hadn't been able to get to it yet. At that point I just asked for my keys back. I was frustrated and asked him why he asked me to bring it in 3.5 hours early. He came back with an attitude saying he had an employee call out and he can't control how much they get done when they're short a person. My response was, That's the whole point of an appointment." And I Left. I'll never waste my time going to another Pep-Boys.

Subject: Unacceptable Experience at Pep Boys Henrietta, NY - Store #0166…read more Dear Pep Boys Customer Service / Management, I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your Henrietta, NY location (Store #0166) on August 4, 2025. I originally attempted to have my vehicle inspected at my usual location, Valvoline, but was informed their inspection equipment was down. As a result, I scheduled a 9:30 AM appointment at Pep Boys in Henrietta. Unfortunately, the experience that followed was unacceptable on several levels. Upon arrival, the store was not yet open. I was told the manager, Chris, had forgotten his keys at home in Hilton, resulting in a delayed opening and backup of all appointments. My vehicle, a red Hyundai Tucson, was not pulled into the bay until approximately 10:10 AM--40 minutes past my scheduled time. Shortly after, staff confused my car with another customer's orange Chevrolet SUV. Around 11:00 AM, I was called to the front and asked if I was the customer who needed a rear brake job. I clarified that I had only come in for a state inspection. It appeared there had been another mix-up, as the other customer had a similar-sounding last name (Foss; mine is Bock). Hours later, I was again told that I owed $469 for a brake replacement I did not authorize. I declined the repair and requested my original brakes be reinstalled. When the mechanic returned my car to the lot, I was standing nearby and overheard him loudly cursing--using multiple expletives--apparently unaware of my presence. This behavior was highly unprofessional and inappropriate. I was ultimately told my vehicle failed inspection due to "metal-on-metal" rear brakes and warped rotors. I strongly disagreed, as I know the condition of my vehicle. I paid the $21 failure fee, though I firmly believe the car should have passed. The next day a trusted mechanic--who is very familiar with New York State inspection guidelines--replaced the rear brakes while I was at work. He confirmed that the rotors were not warped, and the brake pads still had approximately 5,000 miles of safe use remaining. I returned to Pep Boys at 5:15 PM to have the inspection completed, as instructed by Chris. However, a staff member named Paul told me I would now need to schedule another appointment and go through the full inspection process again. In addition to this frustrating and time-consuming ordeal, I missed out on valuable billable time with a client due to the delays and disorganization. Over the span of four hours, I could have earned $211.52 (at my rate of $52.88/hour), had I not been dealing with this situation. This experience has been extremely disappointing--from scheduling mishandlings and misdiagnoses to inappropriate staff behavior. I am now left to either start over elsewhere or continue dealing with a location that has demonstrated poor service and questionable practices.

Julie & her husband Ken is so nice and super professional! I'm getting a couple of major things…read moredone and some minor things as well. My exhaust was the first thing I've had done and I'm scheduled to get my struts and breaks fixed a little later! I just want to start off with how much they are working with me to get these things done. I'm not rich at all and if I had a stable job I would have loved to take them up on there offer with the credit options. But luckily, they know how to prioritize what needs fixing and scheduled me out for when I'll have the money to have those things fixed. Secondly, I want to point out how fast they got the job done! Julie had told me to bring it in so that they could diagnose the problem for me and that they could schedule me next week if I decided to get it fixed with them. Well, sure enough I bought it in on Friday morning, that same morning they were able to tell me what was wrong and the same day they ordered the parts and got it fixed! I literally got my car back at 3pm and genuinely did not expect that! I saw a sign in their shop and it said that they value their time, well I guess they also value everyone else's time too! I don't want to get into the free things that they did for me because I don't want anyone trying to come rip these lovely people off, but I do want to say the things that they did for me, that they had every right to charge me for, has let me know that I'm dealing with some really good people and has made this place my go-to spot! These are good hard working people who respects the customers that comes through their shop, no matter if you have a lot of money or not! The prices are absolutely doable and they don't pressure you if you can't do everything right then in there! Lastly, I just want to point out that I am a single black woman and the reason I bring up my race and gender is because we all know it matters, especially when it comes to mechanics! But Temstad didn't make me feel judged nor taking advantage of whatsoever! They were so welcoming and knowledgeable! Not only did they triple check my car but they explained every decision & priority to me. I really love that they weren't condescending because I don't know a thing about cars. They simply just explained it so I can understand the what and why! Like I said, as long as Temstad is open & will have me, they will now be my go to place!
