I recently built a house that uses Vastola Heating & Cooling as one of the subcontractors. I'm borderline impressed with the work that they did. I'll explain... The duct work is pretty clean looking and streamlined. With my house being a new build, I suppose you'd expect that the temperature would be comfortable with little wasted energy, but in many respects this is a testament to the quality furnace and duct work Vastola did install. Moreover, the humidifier does a bang up job as well. I'm was a little disappointed about a service call I had to make after we moved in. Our dryer is vented from the laundry room on the second floor to the side of the house, not the roof. Therefore, Vastola ran the vent across the joists of the attic floor. When I finally had a chance to get into the attic to store some things, I noticed the overwhelming smell of dryer exhaust. I checked out the vent and noticed it had come unattached from the outside wall. We called Vastola about the issue, and they came out to fix it, however, they were really defensive when they did so, almost as if they were accusing us of deliberately sabotaging our own dryer vent, which of course is ridiculous. I love dryer vents and would never do anything to harm one of them. read more

Came out because our A/C stopped working. They identified the problem as a broken fan motor. They charged $140 for the diagnostic visit (which I was not informed about ahead of time). They quoted me $7000+ for a new A/C. When I asked for a quote to just replace they fan motor, they said they would get back to me. It seemed crazy to replace the whole A/C when there was nothing wrong with the coolant line or compression. Didn't hear anything so reached out a week later. They said they couldn't get the part. That my A/C mount was different and requited a special size. Bullshit. I went to S-S Electrical (on Seneca St), bought an A/C fan motor with the same specs as my old one, and changed it out myself for $200. Problem solved. read more

I normally don't leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. My wife and I hired Vastola Heating & Cooling to install a new furnace and air conditioning system after being quoted approximately $11,800. During the sales presentation, we were told we had been approved for a loan at 9.99% interest. The salesperson explained that our payment would be approximately $178 per month, or about $205 per month if we added the annual maintenance program. At no point did we believe we were signing a lease agreement. We were never told that the payments would increase over time or that we would have to pay thousands of dollars to purchase the equipment at the end of the agreement. It wasn't until I contacted the leasing company myself that I learned the buyout amount would be approximately $11,800. We've had the agreement for 2 1/2 years and have already paid $6,000, so it was shocking to find out we still owe the same amount as when we started. I questioned whether I had misunderstood something, so I sought independent opinions from two HVAC companies--one in Hamburg and one in Lockport. I showed them both the lease agreement. Based on their review, both told me that the agreement appeared to have been presented as a loan rather than a lease and that, in their opinion, the situation should be corrected. One also told me that in 20 years of business, he had never heard of an HVAC company leasing a furnace and air conditioner to a customer, and that it seemed very shady. Since discovering these issues, I have made every effort to resolve the matter directly with Vastola Heating & Cooling. I left a voicemail for management, sent a detailed letter outlining my concerns, and requested a response. I did hear back from the owner, Dan, who seems like a nice guy. However, he explained that his salesperson, CJ, should have explained the ins and outs of the lease, including that I would have to buy out my air conditioner and furnace at the end of 10 years, that my payment would increase every two years, and that if I did not want to buy it out, I would have to return the equipment. That sounds crazy when you pay almost $30,000 by the end of the program they signed me up for. I asked Dan if there was any possibility that his salesperson had not explained this to me, because that is truly what happened, but he said that was impossible, that they are trained very well, and that he does not believe that happened. I understand sticking up for your employees, but in the end we agreed on a price, and now my family is going to have to pay double that. I'm sharing my experience because I believe consumers should carefully review every financing document and ask very specific questions about whether they are signing a loan or a lease. Based on my experience, I felt that the financing arrangement was not presented to us in a clear and transparent manner, and I remain disappointed that my attempts to resolve the issue directly have gone nowhere. I sincerely hope Vastola Heating & Cooling chooses to address this matter fairly, but until then, I cannot recommend them based on my experience. read more

As an update to my previous review, following Vastola's installation of an air conditioning system and the mess they left behind, the FIRST TIME I turned the system on, it DID NOT WORK. It actually raised the temperature in my house. So I call the company that afternoon, which claims to have 24 hour service, and they offered to schedule an appointment for the following week. You have to literally argue with them to get service. Eventually someone came and after several hours later got the system working. Seems after installation, no one tested the system to see if it actually worked. Now for the ultimate insult, after the thousands of dollars I spent and the numerous frustrations I've had with them, they had someone deliver to my house a coffer cup with candy and a ball point pen stuck in it. That sure made me feel better. My advice to you, DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.........EVER. read more

I scheduled an appointment & Randy was my serviceman. He called when he was on the way and arrived on time. He did a great job on my leaking A/C. After thoroughly cleaning it, he found out that I needed a new condensate pump, quickly went back to the shop to pickup the part and came back to install. He was thorough and professional. I appreciated him explaining how to keep it clean to prevent any gunk from building up in the future. I am very happy with the job and would call them in the future as the need arises. read more

Our Home that was built 8 years ago was in need of a new furnace and air conditioning system because the builder used bottom line equipment and installation was incorrect. I called Vastola Heating & Cooling after 2 others confirmed the problem. Danny DeMarco scheduled the replacement of my original equipment with a full Carrier HVAC system. The job was done very efficiently. I couldn't be more satisfied. The price was $5,000+ less than that of a competitors' quote and with a better system. For the past 22 years we have used Vastola Heating and Cooling for our Boiler and Mitsubishi Electric wall mounted AC unit. WE could not have selected a better company to deal with! In June of 2022, we had to decide on purchasing a new boiler or continue with our 22 yr old boiler, so we called Vastola and we met Chris Wagner! He was with-out a doubt the best Sales person we ever met. He told us exactly what was wrong with our unit and what we can expect from a new unit! Last week we had our new boiler installed, on 8/3/22 he came over to go over it all and we are thankful. And...much to our delight he fully explained our Mitsbishi AC unit. We found out we have been using it incorrectly since installation (7/12/2016)! We did what he recommended and today I came home to an entire house that was a comfy 75 degrees on a very hot and humid 89 degree Buffalo summer day! Normally places I've worked with in the past do free estimates, which she said they do? Then how is this a free estimate?! It's not. Vastola sold us 3 high efficiency Mitsubishi electrical units one was a split system and the other 2 were full systems back in November. One unit never achieved heating goal set. The unit was constantly not working when temps were below 32 degrees. Also the fan continued to blow even when fan was on auto. while the others worked fine. The unit was very loud sounding like an airplane landing in my back yard. From November to July our electric bill went well over 1000 percent. They said it's because of a surge. Well I called our utility company and they came out and right in front of the Vastola rep concluded that they are responsible to know what power the unit can handle. Our Master Electrician also was on hand and said Vastola was wrong. No utility can control one houses power and in fact the power was still within noted guidelines. It was up to the seller which Vastola is to advise on what equipment was best for our home, they failed to do so. Stated it needed a transformer. Well the other two units had no problem, was not loud, they shut off correctly and did no have so called surge issues. Brand new unit from November (Purchase Month) to July it took to solve the issues. But did not reimburse us the difference in the elevated utility bill. They in a non caring way sends a letter to us trying to stick us with 5 months of bills reaching 1400 for a month. This is unacceptable. I would never recommend this company. Called for annual maintenance as usual. The repairman left our house having tuned everything up. But he came BACK, saying he talked to his supervisor, needed to charge us AGAIN the fee for coming out, and our upstairs AC compressor was broken. Sound fishy? read more

We wanted to have air conditioning installed and my husband called this company for an estimate. He explained exactly what he wanted and when the estimator arrived he proceeded to tell us that what we wanted couldn't be done, even though we already had estimates from other companies to do the work as we wanted. He was rude, condescending, argumentative and wasn't wearing a mask as required during the pandemic. He told us we needed a new heating system (we don't, it's old, but runs beautifully) when he was there to estimate a cooling system. And he never sent an estimate, not that we would have accepted any bid from him. If this guy treats all potential customers this way, I'm surprised this company gets any work. During a furnace tune up I asked Matt to check my A/C. He said "how long has your A/C not been working". Puzzled I said it has been. I sit in front of a vent as I work & cold air is coming out. Matt stated whoever installed it did it incorrect. I told him it was your company that installed it. he offered services that would cost me $100s or replace for a ridiculous amount. after Matt left, my house was getting hotter & hotter. So I got a second opinion. Matt had unplugged my unit outside & it was plugged back in upside down. Needless to say, next year I will call another company to service & tune up my furnace & A/C. Unreal. Horrible Customer Service. I have an older unit which was working fine up until yesterday. In the past they have helped, usually a wire, a breaker, etc. No major issues with the unit. And of course, they said it needed to be upgraded eventually, which I knew. But no major issues with it, so I've just been playing it out. When I called today, the woman on the other end of the phone said she would NOT send someone out to my home just to tell me I need a new unit. WHAT? Then she asked if I wanted a free estimate for a new one. Vastola, if you don't have the time or customer service to even visit my home to at least explain what the problem may be...then the next company who installs 2 separate HVAC units (one for each floor of my 4500 sq ft home), will def not be you. My generic generator stopped working, I called 1 company, they came out and informed me, the motor was seized and needed replacing cost of over $5000. Not liking that idea, I called vastola, they made an appointment, and the service tech called 2 hours sooner, and asked if he could stop by. Don came out checked over the motor, and he found a loose wire under the control panel, it started right up. I recently had a new Lennox furnace and humidifier put in by Vastola. I was very impressed with their installers. They were very polite and respectful and did an awesome job! I wish I had not used them last year when my boiler wouldn't start. They overbook their techs. Came home early to meet him. He never showed up. Got a call around 6 PM that he wouldn't be making it. No heat all weekend. 54 degrees inside. Finally came the following week. Promised in the afternoon, showed up at 6. Same thing for a follow up visit two days later. Called another company this year for my tune up -- their labor rate is $70 / hour lower. A week and a half at 54 degrees, aggravation at late arrivals, and more expensive? Nope. read more

I purchased a lennox approximately 8 yrs ago , in less than 1 yr i started having problems, i call and didn't get any help, every year since then i have had a problem, had to call other companies to come out and service my furnace, now i am told that my furnace needs to be replaced because of moisture and improper install , not satisfied at all , brand new furnace should last longer than that , what's a consumer supposed to do, just disgusted read more

Have used them before for the same issue a gas valve on a tank less hot water system. less than two years the same issue is happening, I was willing to use them again to fix it again as the issue is how it was installed by the home builder not from the repair they did. The reason I am giving this bad review is that this time for the same repair they tried to over double the price from what it was from the last time. The part is online for 93.00 they wanted to charge me 245.00 plus 20.00 for shipping because their supply house did not have it in stock. I paid 150.00 the last time they fixed it. so them making 50.00 off the part I guess was not enough and they think making 150.00 is the right thing to charge ( can we say Price Gouging ) That alone says how they treat repeat customers. Then i found a brand new system online for 850.00 and they said they wanted 1700.00 to install it. So let's break this amount down. LOL. I buy the unit for 850.00 all they have to do is install it. It calls for 3 hours and one person to do it, since it is just a swap of a unit, all the gas pipes and the exhaust and no electrical work required as they are already installed. So they are trying to say that their hourly rate then is 566.00 an hour, I laughed at this one. It was also agreed on that this would be just an install with zero warranty, I understood this since i was buying the unit online. I know these companies need to make money but let's be reasonable here folks. In short this company had no professionalism and don't care about anything besides over charging. The rep I spoke to flat out said we don't like it when customer buy their own parts because we make money there. I get that but 250% mark up. SO if you want to over pay for work and parts then by all means call them. read more

I was with a friend when she had Dan from Vastola come in and give a quote. Excellent, is where I will start. Dan was polite dress in a company shirt and was ready to help. He looked at the eauipment, asked my friend questions of what she needed and explained his choice of equipment that would be installed. He made some suggestions and gave his reasons for those suggestion. Dan was not a pushy sales man by any means, he was just helpful. He gave a written quote with all the detailed information needed. My friend chose to go with them not just for an AC unit but a furnace as well. It was a smart choice on her part to go with both. I will add a review of the install later. read more
