TLDR at the end. While visiting a close friend in Hot Springs we decided to make reservations for dinner at Vault. When we arrived and seated we ordered drinks. After ten minutes still no drinks so we ordered appetizers. Fifteen minutes later (no joke) still no drinks but our appetizers arrived. One of the two high notes here was the pork belly appetizer. It was delicious. Finally, after thirty minutes our drinks arrived. My drink was wrong, I ordered a Manhattan and got an old fashioned. I don't like sending anything back so I didn't point it out and just accepted it. Carla, our server explained that it was the first day of their new system and the bar printer didn't print our drink ticket. I'd think she might have noticed a bit sooner but what can you do? Next came my French onion soup which I can only compare to sweetened toilet water after binge eating asparagus. Two spoonfuls was all I could take and let Carla know that "I didn't care for it." Second high note was the ribeye, it was cooked perfectly and the red wine demi was on point. The executive chef stopped in to ask how everything was. I politely shared my view of the French onion soup. He explained that he used a different, off brand sherry that "just wasn't the same" and expressed his dissatisfaction for it. Why serve it if he wasn't happy with it? Who knows?! We ordered the limoncello lady finger dessert. Shortly after Carla informed us that it wasn't available and asked if we wanted something else. We politely declined and asked for our check. We dropped an Amex card and when she brought it back we noticed some concerning details. They didn't offer to remove my warm bowl of sweetened asparagus toilet water so it was still present along with the dessert we didn't get but the best part was a $9.00 maintenance fee that wasn't disclosed with the original $340 check. It was added to the total when they ran the card hoping we wouldn't notice I guess. Note, in Arkansas, state law prohibits surcharges for using a credit card. We politely asked Carla WTF; She apologized for not removing the dessert and explained that the maintenance fee was because we used a credit card. Total horse feces! We asked her to refund the card, remove the dessert and we would pay cash to avoid their shady fee insulted by the manner in which it was 'disclosed.' We left feeling annoyed, disappointed but most of all insulted. Through these events we were treated like it was an imposition that they had to fix the bill and explain themselves to me. This was not a fine dining experience nor what you'd expect when you drop $400 on dinner for two ($340 + $60 tip.) TLDR - a very poor experience, don't bother. The two stars I gave it were generous. We went for an early dinner and the hostess seated us and introduced our server Evan. He was honestly one of the best servers we have experienced in a very long time. He took our cocktail drink order and introduced us to the fall menu in detail. Our old fashioned came smoked and the Paloma was delicious! We ordered oysters Rockefeller and they were delicious with warm crab cheese and bacon. My husband ordered the petite filet medium rare which was cooked perfectly. Clearly they didn't receive the spirit it was given. No 1. A customer didn't deserve attitude from their staff (hostess) No 2. Cocktails need garnishes regardless signature or not. No 3. Never been to any high end establishments offering lower quality shrimps(26/30). No 4. As of 03/2023, nationwide card processing fees are between 1.5 to 3.5% (average merchant pays 2-2.5%} Last but not least, all points they illustrated in the reply are meaningless when they get more competition. I treated my husband last evening at the Vault for his birthday dinner. We had booked reservations a week ahead and were really excited to finally get to experience an upscale restaurant in Hot Springs. In all the honesty, the food was amazing! Our waitress was very attentive and we were seated promptly when we arrived. The drawback and probably the primary reason we won't be going back is the ambiance. They sat us right next to the server work area with views of the servers gathering, linens stacked, dirty dishes dumped, etc. The other side was the bar with people coming and going. I wanted this to be a special night for my husband but instead it was very noisy and we couldn't hear each other talk with the tables so very close together. The outside of the building is rundown and not what you would expect to see for an expensive restaurant. For the most part the restaurant was way over rated. read more

I was excited to have a group reservation at the Vault Tuesday evening. I was attending a conference in Hot Springs and was being treated by some very generous partners who made reservations for 13 with a wide open budget. Our party actually had 15 but the place was basically empty so no big deal... or so we thought. Our party was split up. Keep in mind that there were TWO other patrons in the restaurant when we arrived. We asked to move to another table so we could all converse. The waitress happily obliged until we had trouble all fitting on three sides of the table. They have a wine cellar and did not want a guest sitting as to block the entrance of the cellar. We only needed one person to sit at that end of the table and he acknowledged that he would happily jump up and allow entrance to the wine cellar as many times as needed. The manager came to our table and never attempted to pull another table, move us to a more accommodating area, nothing of the sort. Instead, she RUDELY chastised us. After the way we were treated, without discussion or hesitation, we all stood in unison and walked out. The generous partners I've already mentioned had yet another conference scheduled for the following week and had another reservation which was subsequently cancelled. Our party would have spent about $3000 - $3500. I felt sorry for the waitress. The manager's actions cost her a tip of $400-$500. Both visits would have generated $7,000 in gross sales for the Vault with another $1,000 in tips for the wait staff. I hope the manager's power trip was worth it. We went four doors down to the Porterhouse and had the most incredible experience anyone could imagine and scheduled reservations for the following week to replace the reservation previously made at the Vault. read more

My family & I came to celebrate our birthdays (brother, myself, and my dad). We weren't seated right away but got seated a few minutes after our reservation time. The seating could've been better (we were all seated semi close to the tables next to us). Our server was amazing! I wish I could remember his name but he checked up on us frequently, paid attention to the details of our order, and was entertaining. We ordered the following items: Wagyu meatballs, black truffle risotto, Japanese Wagyu A5, petite filet, ribeye (it was their special for the night), & shrimp with polenta. The chef came out to give his special to my dad & husband. I've never seen this happen so it was truly special to meet the chef who made their food. The portion size for the filet & wagyu was small compared to the price but it tasted great. Shrimp with polenta tasted amazing- full of flavor with each bite. The Wagyu meatball & risotto tasted amazing- no complaints. For dessert, the server bought out chocolate mousse with a candle lit. It was a nice finish to an amazing dinner. Goodness, the food was fabulous here. My husband absolutely loved the smoked old-fashioned and my cosmo was perfect. We started with grilled Caesar salads, which were a delightful change from a regular Caesars. We had ribeye with assorted mushrooms.. the ribeye was one of the best steaks we've had in a long time, and the mushrooms or sautéed to perfection and tantalized our taste buds. The l the soft lighting ambience made for the perfect date night. We truly appreciated the illuminated menu help us see our selections. Dark, and mysterious decor..... the Vault is absolutely a foodie dream. The menu abounds with interesting choices like a grilled purple cabbage salad- delicious!!!! I'm sorry I didn't take more photos - but I was too busy eating Honey Truffle Yeast Rolls, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Baked Artichokes Key Lime Pie. We came here for a friend's birthday and had high hopes since the reviews were good and their menu sounded amazing. (By the way, their menu on their website is NOT updated and their prices are significantly higher on some of their advertised dishes on their website). However, we left utterly disappointed and still hungry since the food was not great at all. I did enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant which was dark and romantic and would be perfect for a date night. The noise level is like any other restaurant on a Friday night: lively. We were seated promptly since we had made reservations. We ordered several appetizers to share including the dozen raw oysters ($20), oysters Rockefeller ($36), baked brie ($16), and the steak tartare ($24). The raw oysters were fine, nothing special about them. The oysters Rockefeller were pretty good but the presentation of the dish and laying them down on raw kale seemed real sloppy for a dish that is $36. The baked brie was just a typical baked brie that you could make at home. The steak tartare was super bland and didn't taste very fresh. I've had way better tartare before and wouldn't recommnd it at $24. Overall, the oysters were probably the most decent thing we ordered but it's not like you can really mess up raw oysters. We looked over the menu and many dishes sounded really tasty. I couldn't decide between their "roasted lamb" or their steak. I decided to go with lamb since I eat steak more frequently and the thought of a nice lamb roast sounded really appetizing and comforting. When my dish came out, I was shocked because it looked like a pile of barf and not a nice chunk of meat like a "roasted lamb" sounds like it would be. Upon trying the meal, it tasted like a lamb curry with a sloppy joe like texture. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed in the meal and how the description was deceiving to call it a roasted lamb dish. Two of my friends ordered the scallop dish ($47) which came with three tiny scallops over a bed of undercooked rice/risotto. Definitely not worth the price tag and it didn't even taste great at all. As if the experience wasn't already ruined by the food, the manager, Scott Mueller, rudely came over to our table during dinner to tell us we are being too loud. We were shocked and taken aback at the downright rudeness of the manager since we were no louder than any of the dining customers and our waitress was also surprised that he made that comment to our table. That left an even sour taste in our mouths than the food did. Without a doubt, this is hands down one of the worst restaurants and dining experiences I have ever encountered. The worst part of it is that we had to throw away almost $500 for our meal here with one of the worst customer service from a 'manager' of a 'high-end' restaurant. Very disappointed. Even if I would have paid 1/4th of my bill. Worst old fashion EVER. And it wasn't even smoked, as stated. Sides were cold, even though I had to pay out the nose, separate for them. And the steaks were undercooked to the point that my wife couldn't eat it, and said she would reheat it another day and cook it better in the microwave. Don't waste your time like I did. I spent a special moment with my wife apologizing for going to this place. The only positive was our server. She was amazing and came by many times to take care of us. Visiting from Texas and we happened to get in on Valentine's day with no wait (we lucked out!) The staff were all so kind, the Executive Chef checked on us, personally, a couple times as well. We started out with the baked artichokes; the cheese and lemon balanced so nicely and it was just the right amount for an appetizer. Our entrees were phenomenal! Was really looking forward to this based off of the high ratings. Made reservations through Open Table, so we were sat right away. The ambiance was great. Loved the stone pillars and the vault behind the bar. The service overall was decent. She was very nice, but I think she was overwhelmed. It seemed like she was trying to be an attentive, but there would be periods where we would not see her for awhile. The food...overall how disappointing for a 4+ star place. The bread we started off with made me think this place was going to be 5 stars. Holy crap there bread was amazing! So warm and delicious. Then the disappointment started with the steak tartare appetizer. First it took about 25 minutes to get it. I have had some amazing steak tartare so the bar is high, but this really disappointed. Overall, it was lacking a lot of flavor. The meat itself was kind of stringy. The use of potato chips was interesting, definitely had not had that before. It really was the only flavor that I tasted from it. The price was a little high. Believe it was $24. Kind of high for the quality of the dish and that we were not in a major metropolitan city. My steak was decent. Definitely better deal at +/-$34. Main problem is that it took almost an hour to get though. Finally the dessert, chocolate crème brulee, so good! If it weren't for the bread and crème brulee this place would have been a complete disaster. I rarely complain at the length of service time to a manager. The restaurant was busy, but not to the point of taking an hour for your entrees. I realize it is Covid and there is social distancing, but you should staff based off of your customers that will be served. My girlfriend asked to speak to the manager when we hadn't seen our food in 50 minutes and the app took 25 minutes. We had ordered our entrees about 15 minutes into our wait on the app. The manager eventually came by and had some excuses of the restaurant being sat all at the same time (was not accurate) and everything being made from scratch. He comped our appetizer and dessert, which was nice. Would rather have paid for everything and had a 4 or 5 star experience. One big issue about the kitchen being behind is that the chef came out twice to one table and one more time to check on everything after we complained. He was not sweaty or had any stains on his coat. If the situation was so bad back there, he should not have had time to come out and should have looked like he was actually working back there. Will I return? Likely not. The two high end spots I visited while in town were not impressive. Honestly the best meal I had in Hot Springs was the pizza place and the breakfast spot. read more

Love this restaurant! If you're looking for dimly lit, date night ambiance and an upscale romantic atmosphere, there is NO better place for dinner in hot springs. The best craft cocktails and some of the most upscale dining available in Hot Springs, I always receive great service here as well. The only reason I'm not rating 5 stars is because for the price, there are some better dinner and cocktail options in the Little Rock area if you're willing to drive. Also I'm big on steak when I eat upscale, and the steakhouse down the street has a much better steak for the price. Overall, I love the atmosphere here and it's perfect for a date or celebration.
