I made an appointment to purchase a vehicle they advertised online and specifically CALLED AHEAD to confirm the out-the-door price before going to the dealership. Based on that confirmation, I also paid for an independent mobile inspection of the vehicle. I went to the dealership and when it came time to discuss the purchase, Axis added approximately $7,000 in "dealership fees" on top of the advertised price. I walked away. I understand taxes, registration and normal documentation fees. Adding roughly $7,000 to an advertised price--after a customer specifically called to confirm pricing before making an appointment--is a completely different matter. Complaint Regarding Alleged Bait-and-Switch and Financial Fraud I am asking for an investigation into what I believe was a bait-and-switch and financial fraud involving the purchase of my 2023 white Chevrolet Malibu. Before purchasing the vehicle, I repeatedly told the salesperson that my maximum budget was $13,000. I saw a 2023 white Chevrolet Malibu advertised online for approximately $13,000. I also saw another 2023 white Chevrolet Malibu advertised at a much higher price. I relied on the advertised price and repeatedly explained my budget to the salesperson. I paid approximately $10,000 as a down payment. My understanding was that I was purchasing the vehicle for approximately $13,000, leaving approximately $3,000 to finance, plus legitimate taxes, fees, and other agreed charges. During the signing process, the salesperson was talking very quickly and persuaded me to sign the paperwork. I believe the price was changed or increased during the process without my informed agreement. I never agreed to purchase the vehicle for $18,000 or approximately $20,000. I acknowledge that I signed the contract and that I did not fully read everything before signing. However, I believe the salesperson took advantage of the situation by rushing me, distracting me, and persuading me to sign documents without making sure I understood the actual purchase price and financing terms. Approximately one month later, when I went to make my car payment and reviewed what I still owed, I was shocked to see that I owed approximately $13,640. I expected the financed balance to be close to $3,000 based on the $13,000 purchase price and my $10,000 down payment. I contacted my bank/lender to understand what happened. I was told that the amount financed or charged was approximately $20,000 rather than the $13,000 price I believed I had agreed to. I feel that I was financially harmed and misled. I believe the transaction should be investigated to determine whether the salesperson changed the purchase price, added charges or products without my informed consent, or otherwise used deceptive sales practices. I am also concerned that this may not have been an isolated incident. I believe the dealership's practices may disproportionately target customers who have difficulty understanding complicated contracts or who may not be able to fully understand the English language or financial documents. I am requesting an investigation to determine whether there is a broader pattern of bait-and-switch, deceptive financing, or other unlawful conduct. This situation has caused me significant financial and emotional stress. The vehicle and financing were outside the budget I repeatedly communicated to the salesperson, and I did not knowingly agree to take on this level of debt. I am requesting that the dealership's advertisements, purchase agreement, financing documents, lender records, payment records, vehicle listing history, and any available communications or recordings concerning my transaction be reviewed. I am not asking anyone to simply take my word for it. I am asking for the evidence to be investigated and compared with what I was told, what I agreed to, and what I was ultimately charged. I want to know how the vehicle went from the approximately $13,000 price I understood and discussed to approximately $18,000-$20,000 in the transaction, and why I was left owing approximately $13,640 after putting approximately $10,000 down. BEWARE!!! DO NOT BY HERE!!! I purchased a used Dodge Durango from Axis Chevrolet on Monday, March 9th 2026. I drove to and from my place of work, twice,15 mins away. Thurs March 12th the CEL came on when I turned on the heat. I reached out to the sales person whom I purchased the vehicle from, and let her know. Her and the sales manager both told me to bring it in, they would "make it right". I brought the car in Sat March 14th to the service center. The following week when trying to get an update (what was wrong with it, and when it would be fixed etc), I was put on hold and hung up on MULTIPLE times by the sales and service dept! I finally was able to get in touch with the Sales Manager, Sergio, who told me on SEVERAL different occasions that he would figure it out and get back to me...HE never returned calls or gave updates. On Thursday Mar 19th the salesperson said that the service dept would check the car out today and let her know what was wrong with it. The next day she said they are running the diagnostic tests and it should be ready to go by Monday of next week. Another week went by of no updates at ALL from Axis, whenever I reached out, I was put on hold to be hung up on or told I would receive a call back.. which never occurred! On Friday March 27th I was finally able to speak to David, the Service director, who said they were waiting on parts that would be there Wed/Thurs of the following week. I reached out Wednesday to get an update.... After a lot of back and forth and the same run-around I spoke to David who said they were working on the car now and will have it done Thursday, Friday at the latest! On Friday at 4:00pm I spoke to David and the car was still being worked on.... He assured me it would be done first thing Mon. On Mon April 6th I drove out to get the car and arrived at Axis at 4:00pm. After waiting for almost 3 hours and being told 20 more minutes repeatedly, David and a Tech returned to the service area from the shop with no vehicle. I was told me there was (sludge) oil in the coolant reservoir and the vehicle needed a new engine. David said being that the car has a drivetrain warranty the engine should be covered, and he would contact the warranty provider the next day to schedule an appointment for an inspector to come out. I attempted to contact sales to see if they would provide any support, really anything at all. This meant more calling to be hung up on or have call dropped before getting through to anyone!! Fri. April 10th I was told inspector wouldn't be out until Tues or Wed of next week. I reached out to David Thursday of the following week to be told he'd call back multiple times, but didn't. Fri. April 17th it was more "I'll call back" until 5:45pm at which point he sent me a screenshot of him attempting to call the warranty. Tues. April 21st, he said he should have an answer today, it was still under review because of the amount. Wed the 22nd I called the warranty to see what was going on, on their end. They told me "they never received an estimate, the claim was submitted LAST week and the estimate was sent to the wrong e-mail", they let Axis know this and Axis never remedied it. The next day i was told in order to expedite this he was going to send pictures to the warranty, reach out to him tomorrow. Fri. April 24th at 5:30pm he finally told me he couldn't get through to the warranty, he called me back later that day and said he was going to send the heads out to be resurfaced. More run around. more weeks go by. Shop didn't surface the heads to spec, needs new heads..its now May 12th and I still have no definitive timeline of when this work will be completed. Friday the 15th, he told me they had it back together & needed to drive it once more, the coolant in the exhaust that needed to be burned out. On Sat 16th we showed up to pick up the "repaired" vehicle. No record in thier system of the car, they called David, he told them to give us the key. I asked for a service report and they said they would send one Monday. I drove the car home and halfway through the ride home it started making and aweful sound. I brought it to a local certified dodge dealership and they diagnosed the car as needing an oil cooler, driveshaft carrier bearing, and control arm. After those repairs were made they were unable to get oil flushed from the cooling system. The entire cooling system would have to be replaced which was quoted at $11,070, on top of the $4,240. The car is totaled. I was either sold this car with the condition hidden or it happened when they "fixed" it. Extremely stressful doesn't do justice for what this has done to my family and I. Axis, this its beyond shameful and you have done nothing to make it right. We trusted you and this is what we got! Now 6 months with a car payment on a car in complete mechanical failure. Axis Chevrolet in Jersey City took a $1,000 "fully refundable" deposit from me and never returned it. On December 19, 2024, I came in because their website indicated they had a Chevrolet Equinox EV with Super Cruise. It was not on the lot. I was told it had been transferred, and that if I put down a $1,000 fully refundable deposit using my debit card, they could bring in an Equinox EV with Super Cruise in a day or two. The salesman and manager repeatedly assured me the deposit would be fully refundable, and that they'd even write so on the back of the receipt. But they did not. On January 13, 2025, I let them know I was not going through with the deal and asked for my deposit back. What followed was weeks -- and then months -- of excuses, silence, and the same promises repeated with no refund. My partner and I called many times and spoke with salesman Larry Brooks and managers Mike Delgado, Harout Gapikia, and Sergio Mendez. I also went in person (after a long drive) and was kept waiting while they claimed they were "working on it," then I was sent away with another promise that it would hit my account "shortly." Yesterday (5/8/2026) my 2017 Chevy Volt broke down in Bernardsville, about an hour from home & Axis. While my wife was dealing with the reason we were there, I called Axis to set up a service appointment for the car when it got towed there. All was well and I was informed to get it there before 3:30P. The both of us took the tow truck to the dealership with the car and when we got there around 12:30P the staff told us they no longer could handle EV cars since their EV tech left and that I'd have to bring it to another dealership - the closest qualified one was about an hour away. I had the tow truck take the vehicle to a qualified dealership while my wife & I had to Uber back home. Much time was wasted because the phone staff didn't tell me they couldn't help me. Update: It has now been even longer, and my leased 2025 Chevrolet is STILL in service with no ETA for repair due to a mechanical issue covered under warranty. I continue to be left without a vehicle, without transportation solutions, and without clear answers from the service department. Paying for a lease while being left with no reliable transportation is unacceptable. A warranty issue on a brand-new vehicle should not leave a customer stranded for this long with no timeline and no meaningful assistance offered. If I were you, I'd stay far away from this predatory place. It was literally the worst experience ever. Let's start from the beginning. Be careful about the time of day you go -- you might not even be able to pull into the service area. There isn't enough space to park while other customers are picking up their cars. They've got a guy out there playing Tetris with all the vehicles, trying to make it work. I went through the check-in process, and they informed me of a diagnostic fee. Fine, I thought -- at the very least, I'd get a diagnostic report. Something I could read and even bring somewhere else if needed. I finished up, called an Uber home, and waited. A few hours later, I got a phone call telling me I needed a "transmission fluid exchange." The cost? Around $999! That immediately seemed suspicious. It felt way too high. So, I called another shop and got a quote that was literally half that amount, given my car had fewer than 45,000 miles. My plan was just to swallow the diagnostic fee, figuring at least I'd get a report out of it. But to my surprise -- no diagnostic report. So, what exactly did I pay for? The lady told me I paid for the mechanic's recommendation. Okay, but what is he basing that on? Apparently, on a report I don't even get to see. So basically, I was expected to pay for results I can't read myself and just trust whatever the mechanic says. Great -- $300 for a "recommendation." Alright, fine -- I got scammed out of $300. It happens. But at least I didn't get scammed out of a thousand. So seriously, don't trust these guys. It's pure predation and terrible customer service. read more

Trash dealership. Truly a waste of time. I purchased a 2017 BMW here for my 17-year-old son, hoping it would be a reliable car. The vehicle immediately failed inspection because the check engine light was on. When I brought it back to the dealership, we sat there for six hours only to be told by the Service Manager that they don't even service BMWs and that I should take it to BMW for repairs. They said they would "work with me on price" after the repairs were done. BMW diagnosed $10,000 worth of repairs. When I called Larry, the salesman at Axis who sold us the car, he suddenly said there was nothing they could do. Yet moments later he confidently told me to pick any car on the lot and they would "make it right" because they had fired their entire service team. Here's their version of "making it right": They offered to pay the $8K remaining on my loan (after I had already paid $12K down) and then expected me to take out another $20K loan for a different car. Absolutely ridiculous. I declined. Then Larry changed the offer and said they would give me $12K, but I would still need to take out a new $20K loan. Make that make sense. In the end, I kept the BMW and spent $3,500 in immediate repairs just to get it running properly. The real lesson here: never buy a used car that isn't certified. Larry wasted hours of our time, and management watched us sit there all day. The manager finally approached us right before we left and seemed offended that my husband didn't want to shake his hand. From day one, this dealership showed exactly how crooked and dishonest they are. Our first visit was with a salesman named Tony, who was polite and professional. We were told no test drive allowed until numbers were agreed on. The vehicle's windshield sticker showed $38,999, while they listed everywhere and claimed an MSRP of $24,999. After negotiating numbers, we asked for OTD. After piling on junk fees and add-ons we never asked for, they came back with an (OTD) out-the-door price around $36,000+. We clearly stated we wanted $28,200 OTD and would finance through them. GM Harout refused to move below $28,971.68, so we walked. Tony followed up the next day. We stayed firm. A week later (02/07/2026), we contacted Tony again and agreed to meet in the middle at $28,500, come in, test drive, and close the deal. Tony told us he informed GM Harout and that they were expecting us as he is out on delivery of vehicle. That's when the circus started. We walked in, were handed off to another salesman (Larry), and immediately told the price was now $30,500 / $30,971, followed by the classic line: "You should've taken it last time." When we mentioned Tony, this salesman looked us in the face and lied, saying Tony was FIRED. We had spoken to Tony 30 minutes earlier. As we got up to leave, GM Harout came out, stopped us, and admitted Tony was NOT fired and was simply out on a delivery. So yes -- their own staff will lie and defame coworkers without hesitation. Harout then agreed to $28,500, told us to test drive the car, and said if we like it, we'd do paperwork and be done. During the test drive, the salesman again claimed Tony was fired and manager lied-- another blatant lie. Then they tried to force me into accepting a defective car that clearly had major issues. When I said no, they got hostile, pushing me nonstop to call the bank and say I was "satisfied" so they could get their money. They held me at the dealership, refusing to let me leave until I agreed to the deal. I had to call the POLICE just to get out of there. I have the official incident report to prove it. And it didn't end there -- they tried to intimidate me by sending letters from their attorney, telling me to come pick up the same defective car they knew wasn't in working condition, saying it "had nothing wrong with it." I told them clearly: I want my trade-in back and I want my $7,000 back. I got NEITHER. They kept my money. They kept my car. They gave me NOTHING. To start out. I was with my Brother ready to buy an, what we perceived as "too good to be true" used vehicle. The price was $15,998.00 on car gurus. after both of us looking at it. He saw that there was an $895.00 prep charge shown to be tacked on. Well we drove an hour and a half to get there to purchase it if all was what it said to be. Even pulled a car fax before we went to purchase. showed a 2020 Nissan with 6065 miles on odometer. but all checked out as good. Looked like a Moms car in New York. That actually got driven less than 1100 miles a year. When we pulled up. The sales associate had the car upfront and already running. Sales associates were outside and ask can we help, and my Brother said he had called the day before and was set up by someone to look at it. Test drive, and if all good purchase. So after the salesman approached, and introductions were completed. Went inside and gave his information to test drive. But the salesman made the statement that he had to turn away a couple from Reading PA who drove three and a half hours, and wanted to purchase, but turned away cause my brother had called before them. No deposit was left by my Brother to hold. So we said just sales tactics. All good at this point. out for a test drive we go. Make sure you thoroughly inspect your vehicle before leaving the service department. Check for dents, rim damage, and anything unusual. Once you leave, they may deny responsibility and claim the damage didn't happen there. Unfortunately, my experience with the service director, David, was very negative--rude, dismissive, and unwilling to take accountability. I didn't have issues with anyone else, but this situation was frustrating enough that I'd strongly advise others to double-check everything before driving off. like i mention before this was a superTerrible experience. When I asked David for his supervisor's information to report his behavior, he refused and said there was no one above him and that he was the director. Even the sales manager, Harou, said he couldn't help with David's disrespect and gave me emails that no one responded to. Another person in sales claimed to be in charge and was also rude. They kept my car for days, charged me $1,200, and said it was fixed when it wasn't--I even had to involve the police. Only after bringing it back a second time was the problem actually resolved. On top of that, they recommended U-Haul for a hitch installation, said my car was a perfect fit, then later claimed it couldn't be done. I took my car here for service. I needed an oil change & tire rotation and the price quoted online was cheaper than most of the quick lube places in the area. I figured it was time a GM dealer looked at my car, anyway, since it's been 2 years since I bought it. I have a Buick Encore but they service every GM model, so I was able to schedule service. I picked 7 AM on a Monday morning, drove in, handed over the key, told them what I needed, and I sat in the lounge. They offered me a coupon for the IHOP next door, but that was the last thing I wanted, haha. I sat in their lounge and tried to read but the TV was too loud and I couldn't turn it down. I get the feeling that most people don't stay. They didn't have a lot of amenities in there, either. Just a coffee maker with that fake, powdered creamer and a soda machine. It took a little long to do, so I was out at 9. However, it was done right, and they did do the whole checklist. The last place I went lied to me about my brakes and didn't do the oil change at all. I had to go back and waste time the next day to get the to do it, so I'm not risking that again. All in all this was a very positive experience and I'd use them again. read more

What a joke! I brought my car in to replace a tire (car still under warranty) the man told me the tire was really bad and needed to be replaced. Told me to come back 30mins before closing. I came back and my car still was not serviced. They basically just added air back in my flat (probably because everyone wanted to leave for the night). I drove around all over NJ with extremely low air. Adding air to the same tire since I left the service center. I thought maybe rim sensor was off? Then on day 4, while adding air.. I saw the nails on my tire! Their lazy asses NEVER CHANGED but noted that they gave me a brand new tire! They put my life, my kids lives, and all of NJ drivers lives at risk because of their stupid lazy mistake. read more

I went in to check out a very specific used vehicle. The young sales guy was quite pleasant; however, the finance department is unbelievably shady. First, they tacked on a $4600 "dealer fee." Additionally, they would not tell me the total loan amount, only the monthly cost. When I pointed out that the total monthly costs would be more than DOUBLE the car's advertised price, they tried to tell me "that's how interest works." By the way, my credit score is pristine. We finally got to a bottom line total loan amount I could live with (still $3500 over what was on the website). This amount was on a scrap of paper. I should have taken a photo of it, silly me! We got all the way through lining up insurance, etc., and I dodged multiple pushy warrantee offers. I was signing paperwork with the shady finance guy and noticed that my loan amount was over $2k more than what we'd agreed to. Oh, and when I said, "Where's the paper with the amount we agreed to?" They said, "oh gee, we somehow lost it, but that couldn't possibly be the amount we said we'd sell it for." They are liars. Don't fall for the bait and switch prices they post online, and if you are foolish enough to go here, read everything you're signing VERY carefully. If you're female, don't go here at all. They only addressed my husband even though I was the only name on the loan - until they had me signing and tried to charge me $2k over our agreed upon price (and no, that wasn't taxes). I went there on the only day of the week I can shop for cars to test drive the 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport, black, with 8k miles on it advertised for $19k online. When I got there they asked me if I'd like to see a different car because that Rogue is "the manager's car". I asked if it was still for sale, they said yes, and said I'd still like to see it. They took me to the car which was FILTHY inside- reeking of tobacco with visible tobacco products on the passenger seat and numerous, full prescription pill bottles all over the car. I asked to test drive it anyway and the sales guy said "you can only test drive it if you promise you'll buy a car today". And told me "we don't do joyrides here." "We only test drive to serious buyers". *I'd like to mention before even getting to see one car I'd already been asked if I would be financing, my budget, and if I'd be buying today... BEFORE EVEN SEEING ONE CAR Seriously? I'm going to "PROMISE" to buy a filthy, tobacco and pill-ridden car with who-knows-how many miles on it since 270 days ago since it's been used as the managers car without first test driving it? Do I look STUPID to you? And test driving is called "joy riding"? Give me a break.... If you want honesty and professionalism, look at another dealership..
