I phoned Victor on Sunday and he called me Monday to make the appointment. We are switching our internet from AT&T to Xfinity and needed coaxial cable fished into the wall by the computer. This review is a long time in coming; my project was completed on April 4th, 2014. I am very satisfied with Victor + teams' work in my home. Victor was the only electrician to answer my calls after trying 7 different phone numbers via Yelp. His assessment appointment was quick, and cost nothing. He identified the problem quickly, gave a recommendation, and then named his costs. When I asked him to specify what exactly made the project cost what it did, he broke the list down by component, labor, and extra materials needed. I thought he charged fairly for labor. Victor and his team arrived 10 minutes early. They removed a 50+ year old kitchen and dining area lighting system + non-functioning chandelier, and installed 10 LED recessed ceiling lights + a dimmer switch by rewiring through the attic-space and cutting bigger holes in the ceiling. They also did a lot of extra work without extra charge; all in all, the job was finished with 2 hours to spare (from the time frame they had given me). Victor and his men were focused, friendly, and careful. They cleaned up before and after the job was done. Victor had to take a lot of calls during the job; several people were requesting his services throughout the day. He and his men clearly knew what they were doing; they didn't have to backtrack or wait for more parts to come. Victor is very responsive; if you call him and he doesn't pick up, leave your phone number, and he will call or text you as soon as he can (always within 15 minutes in my experience). Victor actually came back a week later on his own time to help recycle the parts that came down from the old lightning system, since I was at a loss as to what to do with them. We lost power to half of our house on a weekend. Called VC Electric first thing Monday morning (7:30am) and Vic personally came to investigate by 10am. He was thorough and found that the issue was from PG&E's transformer to our house. Vic called PG&E himself, using his "secret" contractor phone number, spoke to / explained all to the tele-service person, casually dropped the name of that guy's manager (Vic knew him after 30 years in business), and PG&E immediately dispatched a crew. Meanwhile, Vic explained the work PG&E would do, the best and worst-case scenarios (in the end it was best-case and PG&E didn't need to dig-up our driveway to get at cables 4 feet below ground), and offered help if things didn't work out properly. We called Victor to replace all of our outlets and switches in the house and garage. We also wanted him to install a ceiling fan in our bedroom, and install an outlet in the front porch area for Christmas lights and a future water feature (I will install one someday!!!) I am not an electrician, and I am not well versed in building code, so when we did the initial walk through so he could give us an estimate, he made several welcomed suggestions of possible upgrade ideas. He also let us know that some "upgrades" would be required in order to be compliant with current electrical standards (ie., GFCI outlets). We decided to include all of the upgrades he suggested (changing several fluorescent lights to LED's including the canned lights and the long tubes recessed within the trim of our skylight) along with our other projects. He emailed me with an estimate a few hours later. The estimate was reasonable considering all of the work they would be doing so we scheduled Victor and his crew for the job. They showed up on time and went straight to work. They knocked out all of our projects the same day, and left each of their work spaces neat and tidy. Victor and his employees aim to please. In addition to the many years of experience they all have, they are polite, trustworthy and hard workers. There is a reason they have so many 5 star reviews!!! We had an emergency as some electrical outlets in the kitchen quit working. This included the refrigerator/freezer with all of our food and frozen meat. I called VC Electric and the man that I spoke with was Victor. He said that all of his guys were very busy and it would probably be tomorrow before someone could come out. When I explained the situation to him, he told me that he could be here within 20 minutes. Ten minutes later he actually showed up. It turns out that he is the owner and he happened to be in his office going over some blueprints. There were 2 problems. Not sure how VC Electric gets all five stars!? Recently, we had an issue in our kitchen where our overhead chandeliers, GFI plugs and a few switches got overloaded and went out. Naturally, not being an electrician, I did my research and even asked a local contractor who they recommended and went to Yelp to find VC Electric. Victor, the company's owner, came out and met with my wife who was home that day and was able to fix the tripped breaker and get everything back on. He was at our home for an hour and charged us $185. We were so thrilled, we didn't care and paid it. While he was there, be began to tell my wife that our entire kitchen was not up to code, that the GFI's were all wired incorrectly, and that all of our wiring had to be redone. He told her that our kitchen was a major fire hazard and that we would have a fire if it did not get fixed. She called me immediately and we schedule Victor to come back out the following week to rewire our oven and fix our wiring in the kitchen. He quoted us $350 for the oven and $1100 for the rest of the kitchen. My wife being desperate to ensure we not have a fire agreed and he was scheduled. Victor told my wife and I that the job would likely take 6 hours. Something had come up the night before that was forcing me to reschedule so I reached out to Victor and couldn't reach him. I then followed up with a text saying that I wanted to reschedule because of a family emergency. He replied to the text and said, "No, sorry, it's too late to cancel". We went ahead and had his guys come out. His crew arrived at 7:30am and were both very nice. They started with the oven and did a nice job rewiring it and getting it ready for our new oven installing (Remember, this is the $350 portion of the quote). I left the house for about 5 minutes and when I came back, 3 GFI's in my kitchen were all opened up and the guys had simply pulled out the wires as they were trying to inspect what was happening. I immediately told the lead technician that I decided I did not need them to rewire my kitchen and that I was just looking to have them install the 3 GFI's I had recently purchased. He said, ok, no problem, and they did. From the moment the men arrived to the moment they left, they were in my home for about 2 hours. Of that time, 90 mins were spent on my oven. When the crew was leaving, he informed me that the total we owed was $850 and to our surprise, we wrote the check, but still felt like something was off. Before they left I asked the crew leader whether or not what he saw was a fire hazard as my wife was clearly losing sleep over it. He said, "no, not at all. Your GFI's should be 20 amp and they are only 15 amp and that should be changed, but its not a fire hazard. You'll just find that certain appliances may overload these plugs and you need to be careful not to use too many small appliances in the kitchen at once". I immediately felt like Victor had scared my wife into agreeing to this incredibly high estimate and really left us feeling like we had no other choice. I called and sent Victor a text that afternoon, evening and even the next day with no reply. I finally reached him at noon the following day and he asked me if I was the guy from the day before, which I confirmed and he began immediately defending the work his crew did. He said, my crew did half the work we estimated so we charged you $850. I told him they all they did in addition to my oven work was replace three GFI's and honestly, $500 seemed a bit steep for that. He began arguing the work they did when I had to interrupt him and simply say, "Victor, you weren't here. I was. I watched your crew work and they did not rewire anything. All they did was replace 3 GFI's." He argued again and I told him that I was disappointed, felt taken and that I would let people know this. I write this review because I have many years of previous experience in both construction and building restoration and I simply knew something was off. This was not buyers remorse. He appears to have a good business from so many 5 star reviews but I can't honestly give him that at this time. It appears he is a good choice if I want to wire my garage for a Tesla but for anything else, this company cannot be trusted. read more

I needed a ceiling fan to be operated with a remote control, a replacement of a light switch to my front porch, a laundry light assembly, and an outdoor security light. Victor arrived promptly, and listened to what I wanted done and then gave me excellent feedback. When I needed a security light done he steered me away from the ones you find at Home Depot and he custom made a light fixture. I appreciated that as I didn't want something as important as that to fail when I needed it the most. He got all the rest of my needs completed and made sure it was all done correctly. He was reasonably priced in comparison to the other electricians, and I absolutely recommend him. On my most recent call to Victor, I called him a day prior to needing his services, and he remembered me... In fact my neighbor across the street had called him under my recommendation, and he was just in my neighborhood 3 days ago...
