The best at what they do! Staff is always friendly & helpful, prices are good and I trust them. They have been my vet for almost a decade now.

Olivia Cocobean, Aki and Max...your beloved customers that you have priced out of your office.

My review is ONLY for the incredible Vet Assistants, Vet Techs and CSR, client service reps who are the front and back office staff that really love your animals and talk to you. NOT THE DOCTORS of VCA A Plus. Unless you pay for an exam, you don't get the privilege of seeing your own doggies doctor...but you can spend 189.00 without talking to your own doggies doctor...there is something wrong with this.....what??? My little doggie came in for a shot so he would not scratch. It is called a Cytal point shot. It cost around 79.00. I met with Enedina. She is a veterinary assistant. She weighed Aki and took him back to be seen by our doctor, Dr. Johnson who also gave him his Cytal Point Injection. I was told that he did great with his shot. Enedina did my whole appointment and Julia & Jenny clipped Aki's and Olivia Cocobeans nails. Great job from all of you Vet Assistants. You were so great, I hope you girls become Vets someday. You were my doggies doctor today. I am so appreciative of your kindness and love. I was at the vet for over hour and spent 189.00. I never saw our doctor, Dr. Johnson once. Not even just to say hello. Each can of food I bought was 7.00 each. I bought 5 cans for Aki to try out to see if it is a food allergy that is making his skin so itchy. I spoke to Enedina about all of my concerns about Aki. She was caring and very professional... The 2 Nail trims for 2 doggies, 34.95 each. Because we didn't have a physical today, we were not allowed to get any ointment for Aki's skin. I feel so sad. Even if you are a dedicated customer, the doctor can't even say hello unless you pay them for a full appointment. I think spending 189.00 is a lot of money to not even talk to a doctor. Thank you to the 8 people who did say hello to us today. This review saddens me because all the people who loved my animals are not doctors. But they are the people that run the practice. These are the wonderful staff that welcomed me in, loved my doggies and took care of my doggies on 3-3-23. Outstanding Customer Service. Enedina, Vet Assistant, Julie, Vet Assistant, Jenny, Vet Assistant, Bri, CSR, Kasie, CSR, Lauren, CSR, Brianna, Myra, Sierra, receptionist. Look how many fantastic staff members talked to me, answered my questions, helped Aki with his skin problem, helped with 2 nail trims and talked about food allergies. Thank you to Myra who told me sbout the allergy testing. All of you Techs, and CSR's have loved my doggies for so many years. Not one doctor said hello today. Obviously this has made me very sad. I have been a loyal customer since I moved back here in June of 2020. Thank you to the 8 people who cared about my beloved doggies today. You are all so kind and great at your jobs. I have talked to Bri for over 2 years on the phone. You are so professional and kind. Thank you for answering my many questions and making my appointments as well as your following up to see if my doggie is feeling better. A five star review for all the Vet Techs and CSR's that are the face of this practice. You are the people I come to know and love. None of them are the doctors! Julie A

This is the record A plus printed. We didn't know she was being muzzled until we read the reports.

We have used A plus for about 15 years with 6 different dogs. (4 of the German Shepard) Our 7 year old German shepherd who didn't have behavioral issues (according to their records) until a new doctor starting seeing her about a year or so ago and not allowing us to be with her when she gets her shot. We had to find a new vet because when we pull into the parking lot she doesn't get out of the car and is scared. (She needs allergy shots) She is never like that anywhere and our dogs go everywhere with us. That's when I knew she feels this place has bad juju. Thanks for your response but I'm sure I have the correct hospital. I corrected my wording that you guys don't allow us to be there when you do the actual shots, since the new doctor. Dr April H. (Who we have never met nor has she even talked to us) I had your staff print the records and it mentions you muzzle her and never mentioned it to us. She has never been muzzled. Didn't even discuss other options. And there has not been a behavioral issue with my dog at your hospital until the new doctor. Your hospital has thousands of patients and usually extremely busy so I find it interesting that you had time to look them all up and have a quick response to say I have the wrong hospital. If you know your pet isn't anxious and starts to be anxious at this hospital most likely it's something to do with how they have been treated. It's very hard to deny animal instinct.

The patient is waiting so patiently!

If it weren't for Dr. Zeal the contents and sentiment in this review would be totally different. We've been going to A Plus for almost 10 years now. In that time I couldn't tell you the name of a single doctor that's seen my dog. The care we've received has always been adequate though, and the location is right for us, so we've never thought about going anywhere else. Well, after my dog decided to crawl through some barbed wire a few weeks ago, that almost changed. Without getting into the gory detail, Riley looked like he could've disemboweled himself on this wire if he just pushed a little harder. Needless to say he needed some attention. It was just before 5pm so we called the office to see what could be done. Whoever answered the call was so far from helpful, and basically told us our only option was to go to Animal Emergency. So the day after a trip to animal emergency and a two week supply of antibiotics, we get a call from A Plus asking about the visit and if everything was ok with Riley. That's when I learned A Plus does have urgent care, but the person we spoke to made it seem like we couldn't be seen for quite a while. We showed up for our scheduled appointment a few days later and saw Dr. Zeal. Dr. Zeal loves her patients, and even though he wasn't showing it, I think Riley secretly liked her too. When she realized Riley was on antibiotics she let us know he couldn't get the shots we'd come for, and she said they should have rescheduled me when they got the report from animal emergency, which had just been scanned into Riley's chart moments before she saw him. That's when I got pretty frustrated with the operation, and it's what Dr. Zeal did next that saved this awful situation. She acknowledged there was a problem and made know bones about it! Get it??? She took note of my feedback and all of the improper communications that occurred, got Riley rescheduled and apologized for everything that went wrong in this situation. We went back today and got the shots, and Dr. Zeal did an exam. She took the time to explain and answer any and every question I had in great detail. I appreciated the thoroughness and the willingness to make sure I felt like my questions were answered, and I never felt rushed out of the exam room or pushed towards any decisions. I'm pretty sure it's that attention to the patient that had been missing from all my previous experiences here and I'm glad they've found some doctors that are willing to make us feel valued.

After visiting many veterinarians over the years, this is hands‑down one of the best places I will ever take my small dog. Our Bichon Frise, Aspen, came to us almost a year ago from a horrific puppy mill, and today was his very first anesthesia dental cleaning. I'm a huge fan of Dr. Karen Shaw Becker and her book The Forever Dog, and after reading her sobering statistic--"By age 3, 80% of dogs have periodontal disease, most of it below the gumline where bone loss, abscesses, and tumors go undetected"--I knew I had to get his teeth taken care of right away. From the very first visit, I was impressed. Parking is easy, the location is simple to find, and Dr. Sharon Dose personally handles everything from answering phones and booking appointments to performing thorough exams. She provided clear estimates without me having to ask (unlike many other vets in town), and she even took the time to show me exactly how to brush Aspen's teeth properly at home. No other vet has ever done that. The day of the procedure (early Sunday morning), their thoughtfulness truly shone. We received clear pre‑op instructions, a straightforward bill breakdown, detailed emails before pickup, a phone call with updates, and even a look at the decaying tooth they removed. Everything was handled with skill, excellent time management, professionalism, and genuine care. Their passion for keeping pets' teeth healthy is obvious. We're deeply grateful for the tooth extraction and the thorough cleaning. Aspen's teeth are now sparkly white, his breath smells so much better, and--most importantly--we know he was in the best hands possible. Their honesty, knowledge, and non‑predatory pricing make them absolute gems in the Reno/Tahoe community. I truly wish more people operated with their level of integrity and heart. If you have a small dog, do yourself a favor and go see them. You won't find a more hardworking, caring, or trustworthy team. Highly recommend for your fur babies!

I give a 2 star rating since the gal at the front desk and the assistant were both lovely girls and know how to treat customers. Sawyers ears were very dirty so the doctor wanted to take a look but alas the other doctor was gone and took the tool with her and asked if I would consider leaving my dog there for 2 hours to waits for the other doctor to reappear. Ummm that would be a hard No. I was surprised that they even asked me that. I don't know any of you! Seriously?!? The reason for todays visit was my dog had a red rash in his nether regions and I was beginning to worry since I first noticed it 2 days ago. My appointment was at 2:30 and that is when I arrived. Like I mentioned the first assistant asked a bunch of questions about Sawyer most of which would have been on the sheet I brought with me all about his last treatment, shots, ect. She mentioned she might want to do $250.00 worth of blood work, um that's a hard no. The initial visit was $75 and then another $50 for I don't know why... For a long time I truly loved this clinic. The staff used to feel very welcoming, attentive, and personal, and you genuinely felt cared for when you walked in. I'm really sad to write this review because I normally don't leave negative reviews, but after giving the clinic several chances I felt it was important to share my experience. The clinic seems much busier now, and while I understand that is a sign of a successful business and I support that, it has started to feel like they may be taking on more than they can handle, and that change is noticeable in the overall clinic experience. Most recently I called because my dog's paw was swollen. Since there were no appointments available, I was told I could drop her off in the morning and they would try to fit her in. I waited about 2.5 hours for a call back and received very little guidance beyond confirming that her paw was swollen. The conversation quickly shifted to recommending x rays on both paws along with other items like vaccines and tests that didn't seem directly related to the reason I brought her in. I also asked about switching her dog food due to past urinary issues and never received clear guidance on that. It left me feeling like the focus was more on adding charges rather than helping me understand what was best for my dog, and this has been my experience the past 3-4 visits. This clinic used to be a place I trusted deeply, which is why this is so disappointing. I'm only sharing this in hopes that the team might bring back some of the personal care and attention that once made this place feel so special.
