I can never trust VCA with the care of my cat. We started the regular checkup visit 8 minutes early (a sign they weren't backed up). There were two assistants (one a shadowing new hire). The experienced one seemed quite distressed, speaking unusually loud and in a hurry, missing important concerns. For example, our concern was that the cat is now overeating since we switched to the diet VCA prescribed, gaining weight very fast and is now overweight. Her reaction was that this is great news that she likes the food. No, once again, that's the problem right now. She spoke so unusually loud, that inside that super tiny room, I was feeling I was going to faint from so much pounding on my ear drums. This was going on for too long so we asked her nicely, and apologized profusely, that it would help to lower her voice a bit as the cat was super scared and trying to hide. Despite our repeated apologies, she seemed offended, and I was still getting overwhelmed from that pounding sound. She took our cat away for a regular blood and urine draw. 15 minutes pass and I start wondering what's going on, since this duration is unusual and nobody came to talk to us. I open the back door (to the area where customers aren't supposed to be) and start shouting "Hello!". Three times, to no avail. The place is deserted and everything feels now surreal. 20+ minutes have passed at this point, so I go back to reception and demand my cat back. Their response is this is taking long because they're drawing blood, so I ask how many gallons is that? Finally, they bring my cat back, and the doctor (dr. Irene Vanderwerff) is blaming me for being angry. She points out two times that I'm angry. She couldn't comprehend that I was worried for my cat. She goes "we were busy taking care of your cat, but it looks like we should take care of you", implying that my well-placed concern for my cat's wellbeing is harming her. I explain that taking my cat away so that I cannot see what they're doing to her is already a significant leap of trust, but then to disappear indefinitely like that for a routine procedure is not ok. She explains that they've been trying to find the cat's vein for 20 minutes and they didn't find one in this timeframe. Can you imagine your cat, your child, or yourself being held down forcefully by a team of people for 20+ minutes, while another is poking you repeatedly trying to find your veins? And then they gaslight you for finding this concerning? This is not how care works! Not even remotely! P.S. How is this entire traumatic experience of a regular checkup supposed to cost $770? But because they didn't find the vein and I stopped them after 20+ minutes, we "only" paid $440. P.P.S. Taking my dog there for 10+ years because the location was convenient for me. In summary, they won't be there when YOU need them for your dog if, for any reason, it doesn't fit in their plans. Getting into details has the problem of focusing too much on the details, missing the big picture: it's a business that doesn't care about your dog but their business. As an example: they had boarding services and my dog used them a lot. When I wanted to schedule a service they said they didn't provide such service anymore. Ok, not a simple email updating your clients? Anyway, I asked about any recommendations around, and they didn't know, maybe Tacoma, etc. In short, that was my problem. My dog was boarded in other non-VCA facility, recommended by actually another VCA clinic where I do take my dog since. VCA Bellevue, don't bother on replying this. I know your practices for too long and I know that any reply from you is to clean your business, not to help your customer. read more

First of all, avoid VCA aka Mars Candy Corp, where profit is more important than your pet health at ANY locations. It was a bad choice for our rescued dog. A few very serious enough cons to avoid VCA forever. Personally, I wouldn't take our dog at first place after the VCA vet Leah Cloud declined to accept her (attention!) being OLD !!!, SICK and BLEEDING, if they did not make a RABIES vaccine FIRST. Even though the dog was vaccinated years ago. Unfortunately, my husband followed the vet advice, and regretted it later. As I believe it to be true, absolutely NO caring or simply smart vet will push on serious vaccine to an OLD SICK BLEEDING DOG. PERIOD. Yes, rabies vaccine required by law, but there are always exceptions. Insert with the bottle stayed only give to healthy animals. How ignorant VCA vet is? (copy): The American veterinary medical association says the vaccination isn't a requirement or necessary for every dog. Most recently, the research indicates that dogs over 10 or 12 years of age should not be vaccinated because their immune system can be compromised, and also, by the time they are that age, they have received adequate protection. Research has demonstrated that over vaccination can cause harmful adverse effects in dogs. Immunologically, the rabies vaccine is the most potent of the veterinary vaccines and associated with significant adverse reactions such as polyneuropathy resulting in muscular atrophy, inhibition or interruption of neuronal control of tissue and organ function, incoordination, and weakness, auto-immune hemolytic anemia, autoimmune diseases affecting the thyroid, joints, blood, eyes, skin, kidney, liver, bowel and central nervous system; anaphylactic shock; aggression; seizures; epilepsy; and fibrosarcomas at injection sites are all linked to the rabies vaccine. senior dogs are more likely to suffer adverse effects from rabies vaccinations. It is medically unsound for this vaccine to be given more often than is necessary to maintain immunity, yet scientific research strongly indicates that the 3 year booster interval required by state laws may be unnecessary. More shockingly, VCA wanted vaccinate my OLD dog with health issue AGAIN in ONE YEAR?! (see pic). To me, this should be considered as malpractice. Seriously. No innocents animals should ruin their health (or even die, according other reviews) because some big corporation and ignorant vets making money from over vaccinations, dangerous flea and heart worm prevention, selling/recommending junk commercial kibble. PS: After a few months, our dog was diagnosed with DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), became paralyzed and went to Rainbow Bridge soon after. While DM is caused by gene mutation and typical for particularly her breed, DM is also known as a side effect of Rabies. So it will always be a question what caused the DM in our dog. One more interesting fact that in the end of her life her right hing leg, where the vaccine was given, became swallowed badly. Plus, VCA FAILED the urine test. They found NOTHING. When I took our dog to another vet immediately after, they DID find a serious bacteria. Also, our dog was prescribed expensive medication that did NOT help her, and later I found out that she was resistant to it. "Sensitivity test might be recommended in the future" was mentioned in her record. Why didn't the vet do it right away?! Clearly, it is not their interest to find the right solution from the start. Experiences with expensive drugs that might not help, extra useless appointments... After not being satisfied with their service, I required records, and found some false information about details re. my dog visits, including my requirements. Same time, the tone of the vet, while she was speaking to me, was very defensive, if not aggressive. VCA, Thanks for nothing. Most important - ruining our dog's health. Additionally, VCA sells ROYAL food from their office. ENOUGH to avoid. Anyone who knows the shocking truth about the commercial dog food industry, watched "Pet fooled" documentary, checked consumeraffairs.com site to see "Royal Canine complains", will leave those offices immediately. Hands down this is the best veterinary office we have taken our two cats to. Ever! The staff here is excellent, they were so nice and attentive to all our needs during the visit. We were coming in for a basic check-up but I have to say I was very impressed. So many pros... - We were checked in immediately and taken in right on time. - The technicians are very comfortable with animals and obviously know what they are doing. We were brought into a cat-only exam room and they made our babies feel so comfortable despite the circumstance of being at the vet. One of our boys was wagging his tail the whole time and just wanted to explore the new place because the tech was doing so well with him. They also had treats which made them more comfortable as well. - The vet Dr. Blackburn was very gentle when she examined our two catos and was very informative about our options for future healthcare, what was necessary for this visit and what was not. I didn't feel like I was being pressured into anything, just getting good information on how to take care of my cats. We were not rushed like she was on a schedule, she took the time to answer any questions we had. She also seemed to know what she was talking about, and also is a cat owner so understands our needs. - Very efficient team. After we decided their treatment we waited a few minutes and the technicians came in to administer vaccines and trim nails, which went really well and our cats didn't show any signs of pain at all. We were in and out very fast. - Prescription food. We also came to ask about getting a prescription for weight management food and they had it available at the office, the exact formula we were looking for, so we were able to take it home the same day. It's also cheaper to buy it here compared to online, which is really surprising! Definitely going to be getting food from this place regularly from now on. - We also got a goodie bag welcome kit to take home with helpful information on wellness plans, their app/web services, and other fun things for their health. - Reasonable prices. With vaccines, check up, and a variety of prescription weight management + urinary food (wet and dry), the cost was about ~$214 for two adult cats. That's a really great price IMO, especially compared to other offices we've been to in the past. - I like the email notifications and accessibility of information in their system. They were so happy and relaxed when they got home, not even drowsy from the vaccines. We will definitely be staying with this office for future vet visits, and will be going to the vet more often knowing we can look forward to a great experience there. The receptionist was kinda rude on entry, the vet tech wouldn't examine her in front of me, which should have set off warning bells, and then they came out to say they couldn't give her a check up without drugging her. I come here for the grooming. Adrienne is amazing, she is very thorough and each time you come in you fill out a form of what you would like to see done. She is great with an old shih tzu who will not let me trim her eyes without going to world war 3. We recently moved to Bellevue here from California and my new neighbor suggested VCA Bellevue. I found them to be fabulous! Dr. Noonan and Kat spent an hour with my dog and I reviewing everything I might need to know including immunization which was needed if I ever wanted to board my dog in the area, possible kennels, and which after hour veterinary clinic they recommend and why. My dog has had a bad reaction to immunizations before and Kat followed up after his immunization, something I have never experienced at any other veterinary hospital. These guys are alright. In comparison to other practices I've been to with my little canine, I've experienced better. Better as in, a little more knowledgeable, a little more compassionate, and a better all around atmosphere and vibe in their clinic. So why the 3 stars? Mainly for the expensive price quotes. I took my 7 year old Min Pin to get a lump looked at on his belly. They gave me a few options, to test it, to remove it, and one other I cannot remember. The cheapest was around $250 just to send the "lump" sample to the lab. The most expensive was around $1000. I went home to think about it. While thinking about it I thought, "Gosh, that seems awful high." I did a little price shopping, and I also went elsewhere to get a second opinion. Which brings me to our current vet (Animal Hospital of Factoria) that we LOVE (see review), and we ended up going with because A) It costed HALF THE AMOUNT that was quoted from VCA and B) the other Yelp reviews are all true to their testimonies as well as mine. read more

I sincerely love this place and the people who work there. My first experience with this VCA was a couple of years ago when I made an appointment to check up on my sick cat, Roger. He unfortunately passed before I could bring him in, but the receptionist was so sweet and compassionate over the phone when I called to cancel the appointment. They even sent me a condolences card even though I had never brought my cat in before. I take my new kitty, Tiny, there now because of their great customer service. I really like the vet technicians and the receptionists. I also like the Veterinarians. They are knowledgable and clearly really care about animals. What can you say about a team that was there with compassion, kindness and wisdom during our dog's last day. Even though it has been about a month since we had to say goodbye to our beloved family dog, it is still difficult to talk about. All you can wish for in times like these are loving, kind, thoughtful people to help your dog through the process. Janice and her team did just that for us. They stayed open late, hugged us, held our hands... and most importantly... talked with our dog as she passed as if it were their own beloved pet. As I type this, I tear up thinking both about what a tough day that was, but how forever grateful I am that it was handled by such a genuine and caring team. **DO NOT GO ALL ABOUT MONEY**Just moved to this area, from Irvine, CA, and we brought 2 of our dogs to get a check up since 1 of them seemed to have an allergy probably(not use to the weather, pollen, dirt etc). They charge $70 per dog for initial visit. Then it was $90 for the antibiotics and then the Vet wanted to do a follow up; I didn't think it was necessary but I said okay. Go to the follow up a week later for the Vet to say, "yup looks good. Keep him on the meds since(it was for 14 days)." Then they charge another $47 for the "follow up visit" My vet hospital in California and in Arizona NEVER charged for a follow up visit they suggested. I will never go back. But other then the money factor the Vet was extremely well educated, knowledge and was great to the dogs. read more

Any time my cat isn't feeling well, it stresses me out and is a terrible experience. A vet can either ease the stress or add to it. I've been going to VCA Bellevue since October 2013, when my cat got an eye infection and was moping about all sickly. From the front desk staff to the doctor - we saw Dr. Jones - it was a great experience. They spent lots of time with my pet and explained everything very thoroughly. They were also patient - my cat truly hates the vet and is difficult to work with. They also followed up with both a get-well/welcome card and a phone call to see how things were going. Our follow-up (and vaccination) visit was just as positive. My cat was extra freaked out and got out of his carrier, and the vet tech and front desk staff were true pros with him. I was impressed. I will say that I think their prices are a little high (not outrageously so), but I'm so happy with the service that I won't be shopping around. read more

It's for grooming. I always take my poodle to VCA Bellevue for grooming service. I like their job. The price is very reasonable, plus discount for microsoftees. They listen to your requirements and do cut the puppy the way you like. The only compliant I have is the nails. Maybe they don't want the puppy to be hurt but the nails are not clipped too short each time. I'd give them a four start if not five. read more

I have been bringing my terrier mix rescue here for almost 2 years now and have never had a problem with super high prices or rude front desk employees, as some have mentioned. Every time I make an appointment or check in, they are always so kind, helpful, and personable, especially Margaryta at the front desk who also often answers the phone when I call to make an appointment. Every single person in the clinic that we encounter is friendly and takes the time to greet and/or cuddle our pup. Sometimes when they give us the invoice at the end of the clinic with the "optional" treatment plans or tests we are a little taken aback at the prices, but they NEVER try and pressure us to do testing or start any type of treatment if they don't truly believe he needs it. We not only bring our pup here for check ups and vaccines, but also for grooming, as our dog has some anxiety issues with grooming and needs to be sedated. Although it's a little pricier than taking him to other shops for grooming, it is absolutely worth it. They always do an EXCELLENT job, and he comes back groomed, happy (although extremely drowsy from the sedatives lol), clean, healthy and smelling wonderful! We recently adopted a second dog, and are looking forward to bringing him in next week for the first time as well. This place is great, and I would highly highly recommend it over any other vet I have taken our lil guy to (We had tried 3 others before VCA). Sure, there are cheaper places you can go, but I would much rather know that my dog is being cared for at a place I feel very comfortable with and trust 100%, getting the utmost quality in care, than save a few bucks. I've been taking my cats to the Bellevue location for a few years. I've honestly noticed a huge improvement on their part, which is why I am a fan. Some of their receptionists have been fabulous and knowledgeable, while others were brainless and seemed like they were only working there to steal meds or something. I do appreciate that if they don't have an answer for you or don't know something, they'll refer you to the vet and the vets are all very knowledgeable. They've hugely improved on explaining costs and although they are more expensive than some clinics, they are willing to work with you and have not pushed me to do something or interrogated me which I've experienced elsewhere. They don't make me feel like "bad" pet owner because of what I feed my cats or the fact that they are indoor/outdoor, or I don't brush their teeth, or b/c one of my cats was hugely obese at one point. They merely make suggestions and recommendations. Thank you. The vet techs are always friendly and seem like they honestly care about each pet. They are easy to get appointments with, they don't dodge questions, and they are always timely and friendly. read more

If you are looking for somewhere to take your pets that displays a "whatever, whenever" philosophy, then this is your place. These folks are fast, honest, upfront, empathetic, and are willing to work with you no matter what kind of situation you are in. They have gone above and beyond for not only my special kitty, but also for countless other pets that come in right before closing, right after another emergency, or seemingly without hope. This is our first (and last) visit to this place. My wife and I took one of our older cats to have her euthanized, since we couldn't get in in a timely fashion at our usual clinic. They made a sad, painful experience an ordeal. Granted, we didn't have an appointment and arrived into the end of their lunch hour. After waiting with our sick cat for 15 minutes or so, the vet finally came in to do his examination. We told him what was going on and that we were experienced owners that had others euthanized in the past. Nevertheless, he conducted a probing examination while doing his stand up routine (meant to lighten the mood, I suppose, since we were going through the tissues). After impressing us with his knowledge and attentiveness, he finally acknowledged what I repeatedly indicated, which was that we were there for a euthanasia procedure, not a diagnostic and educational performance. In the past, we typically would have the vet come into the room with the medicine and inject the patient, after which the cat would seemingly fall asleep in our arms. At VCA, they insist on taking the cat to another room for a catheterization, after which the injection is to be administered. Well, they fucked up the catheter, so the assistant had to come in and redo the taping to correct the flow of the hypodermic into the vein. Then the doc was able to proceed with the procedure, treating me to further comments intended to lighten my mood ("This is the drug Michael Jackson used to help him sleep," and "She's gone now, they just don't close their eyes like in the movies.") After all the paperwork, waiting, exam, waiting, catheterization, and.....did I mention waiting?......We were able to leave nearly an hour later. An hour our cat didn't enjoy spending as her last in this world. Well. The clinic is convenient. The Doctor was definitely thorough. He was a new Doctor that transferred from Hawaii and had done extra training in dental work for animals so he most definitely knew what he was talking about. He would not look me in the eyes though and that bugs me. You know when people are talking to you but looking past you or to the side the whole time? It was like that. After our visit he explained the options and I told him I was looking for a cost effective treatment. I was given an estimate for the oral work of $100 for MANDATORY blood work before his treatment. I was then given an estimate for over $1000 for the teeth cleaning, anesthesia, medications, full oral x-rays ($177) & 4 extractions. Total price = $1100.00. There was also the chance that more extractions would be needed once they were in the surgery. I needed to think about it -- I got my dog his vaccinations for $70 and left. I looked online, thinking if I found a vet outside of Bellevue it might be cheaper. I found great reviews for a vet in South Seattle & had the surgery today. The SAME services (less x-rays & blood work) was less then $350 out the door and there were 5 extractions that were needed. That is a significant price difference for 2 vet offices within 35 minutes of each other. read more

I LOVE this place. I have been bringing my cat Hampton here since I adopted him two years ago. This office is animal friendly and the staff is amazing. The Manager makes it all seem easy and I know it isn't. I did a review before about this VCA and how I didn't care for the female Vet, she is no longer there and Dr. Jones is wonderful, in fact I have had cats my entire life and never had a Vet that I could relate to as well as Dr. Jones. Laura, is my go to person and when Hampton was first a patient there, she had a very small window of opportunity max 3 minutes before Hampton went ballistic. He now gets excited to see Laura and she can trim his nails, give him a sani cut, and apply his flea medicine and still have time to spare. Hampton loves Laura and trusts her. I would never hesitate to recommend this Vet to anyone with a pet. You can feel the love and patience that the assistants have for their patients and Dr. Jones is without a doubt the best you will ever find! His manner is calming and even humorous because if my cat isn't feeling well, I am a nervous wreck and always imagine the worst but, once I hear Dr. Jones is in the office, I calm down and know whatever the problem is, he will treat it and fix it. Terrible service! Stupid rules! Very expensive! I went with my dog there for an annual check up. My dog is always afraid of the vet and tends to get violent. I offered to help by holding him and talking to him while the vet can give him the check up. They told me I'm not allowed to assist any doctor and that someone else will try to hold my dog. My dog cannot become less stressed if someone else who doesn't know is holding him. He just gets more stressed. Eventually they took my dog in a room and after 10 minutes while I could hear how they were struggling and my dog's scary sounds, the doctor came to me and told me that because my dog is old (9 years old), it needs some analysis to be done. Some analysis were estimated to cost about $1400 (That's right!). I asked if they believe my dog has a chronic disease or cancer, should I be worried? The doctor told me my dog looks fine, but the policy says that old dogs need all these analysis in order to be in control of any coming up issues. I said I couldn't afford to pay so much. They told me that I'm free to go somewhere else. And I did! I went in other places with him and never heard of this kind of policy. read more

I've been taking my dog to VCA for a few years now. And I have to say that Dr. Jones and the rest of his staff are amazing with animals. Dr. Jones is very knowledgeable, he will make sure you understand everything that is wrong with your pet. My dog, Little Feet, has bladder issues and he had to take X-rays. He explained everything he was seeing and never rushed us out. He takes his time to answer any questions we had and gave recommendations to better our dog. I've never met a veterinarian who I believe takes pride in his work. As a huge animal lover, I recommend him to anyone. And you won't be disappointed in his staff. Very welcoming and kind! read more

Dr. Molly Noonan, Robert and the staff at VCA in Bellevue are extremely knowledgeable, kind and caring. Our dog, Maggie, has many phobias and lots of anxiety. The staff at VCA have always taken special care of her when she boards and grooms there; they are so friendly and always professional and always treat Maggie with her best interests at heart. Dr. Noonan is a wonderful, caring doctor; I highly recommend VCA and their great staff! read more

My cat Oreo has had numerous problems since we adopted her from the shelter so I have seen several vets in several cities. This office was very helpful & got her history from Reno & Phoenix where she had been seen. I found the staff professional and knowledgeable & Dr. Janiak was willing to take time to review her records & thoroughly understand Oreo's complicated problems. They were gentle with Oreo & I think they helped find why medications have not worked well in the past. It was not cheap but had Oreo seen Dr. Janiak in the beginning, it might have saved repeated visits thus saving money. I will definitely use this clinic again. read more
