My pups actual Vet. River City Animal. Couldn't care less how sick she was. Just said well she is 15 1/2. What? The wonderful staff at VCA got us in urgently even though we weren't patients. Very caring Doctors and staff. Will be moving all our animals there.

Do not take your pet here . I've had my blessed Palm Chi for 12 years she's been extremely healthy until recently. I took her in last month and the vet did a lab work and said she had hypothyroidism . She prescribed levothyroxine one tablet 0.1 mg twice a day . Trusting her I began the medication she was to return last Wednesday and she did to have the blood drawn to see her level . Wednesday afternoon she began having continual diarrhea vomiting wouldn't drink water I was having to give her Pedialyte and water as it turned out over the next several days by syringe , I called 2 days in a row for the lab results kept being told they haven't come in . I stopped giving her just something told me not to give her any more thyroid so on Friday I did not give her the evening dose Saturday and Sunday I decided not to give her any because she was still having diarrhea I was still having to give her water by syringe and I'd had her on nothing but rice for several days . I went to bed on Saturday night praying what is wrong what do I need to do and I felt inside get up and look up the dosage . Well it's supposed to be dosed 0.1 mg per 10 lb of body weight . My little dog weighs just a couple ounces over 11 lb . She was getting overdosed by almost double what she should be getting and if I had not looked it up and not stop the thyroid it could have killed her . Now I don't know if the vet made the mistake in her prescribing or if in the people in the back who are feeling the prescriptions made the mistake . But it would seem reasonable to me that no medication should go out without that vet having the last look when it was filled to make sure it was filled correctly . And I am sad because I'm retired RN and I generally would have checked but I trusted this vet I figured she had dosed correctly I will never do that again I'll never assume . But what really got me is this morning I called for the lab results that I still haven't gotten now on Monday I started back giving her one in the morning I gave her one yesterday and one this morning because she's improved she's quit the diarrhea she's not vomiting she started eating again and she's drinking on her own . So I reversed the issue with her being overdosed thank God . But the icing on the cake was this morning when I called for the lab results the lady at the desk looked it up and said oh yes they're in they're on her desk but she won't be back till Friday . Now this is a critical new diagnosis and his lab values are critical to know and you would think that if she was going to be out of town that she would have appointed a vet to look at these Labs as soon as they came in and notify me . That's what a caring vet would have done . I will never take my dog back to her or to that clinic again . I will feel refill the medication and give it once a day until I can find a new vet but I am so heartbroken and disgusted at how close I came to losing my dog because of carelessness . I told the lady at the phone that answered the desk what had happened and I got in response I'll put a note in her chart . That's How concerned this Veterinary Hospital is For the first time since last Wednesday she has had a normal BM Pom/chi , voice text doesn't always print what I said Mistakes can happen , but this was a serious mistake and one that I would think if there was any real caring here that I would be contacted and made right I mean truthfully somebody needs to consider the mistake and why it happened was purely not accurate oversight to make sure that the dose for my dog was correct . Because it wasn't in any way . Never being sick never being on any medication and not to see that the normal starting dose would have been 0.1 mg once a day or half of that twice a day . But not 0.1 mg twice a day because it almost killed her . Today's the first fully normal day she's had since last Wednesday and it would have never happened had I not looked at the normal starting dose for her weight and her age and paid attention and I'm sorry I didn't do it the day it was prescribed . But I would have never guessed that that prescription would have gone out the door without the vet verifying before it did that it was the correct order. I do pray going forward that they will make some procedural changes for the safety of All Pets . And if the Vet's going to be out of town turn the responsibility of looking at lab work and notifying the pet owner with another vet especially something critical like just starting a pet on a new medication that has the possibility of the serious ramifications that my dog suffered

When choosing a vetenarain at KMC, I would NOT recommend Dr.Guttner. He and a staff member (vet. technician) have been absolutely rude to me. Note: I have been going regularly to this clinic for over 15 year's. I have never had a problem until I encountered these two people. The doctor was so revengeful that he took out his displeasure on my 15 year old dog. I have reported him to The VCA Corporate office. He is an unethical doctor. Do not trust your dog in HIS care!!! There are many other vet's in this are to choose from. Why subject yourself to his neglectfulness and unkind behavior to both me and my elderly dog.

We took our family member Hannah a Giant schnauzer in for ACL Surgary on Monday 5/15/2023 and she died today Thursday 5/18/2023. So no I do not recommend this Animal Hospital.

In an abundance of caution, we agreed to wrap her foot to make sure it doesn't start bleeding again, even though there was "nothing to see here". When I called to say she wasn't eating and one side looked swollen, they informed me they couldn't see her and advised we take her to the emergency vet. THEY DO NOT CARE. I have never had a vet in my 50 years of owning pets not want to see the patient that is in their care. I don't blame the vet directly, she probably doesn't even know. This last weekend, I was very disappointed that I could not reach them when it mattered most. My sweet Sadie was diagnosed last Monday, a week ago today, with lymphoma. She was put on prednisone, which needs to be given with food. Friday, we went to the vet to get anti-nausea meds because she was having a hard time eating. By Saturday we could not get her to eat and she was miserable. We ended up in the ER vet because Prairie does not have an on-call person we could even just talk to. So, there we were in an unfamiliar place with a Dr unfamiliar to Sadie and us, having to make the most difficult decision without even the opportunity to speak with our vet. I understand vets can't be open all days, but I do believe someone should be reachable for these horrible situations that don't always occur during business hours. You either care about our fur babies or you don't. That care shouldn't stop on the weekends or only be shown when it's convenient. I'm talking about a phone call here....not an office visit. Nothing is convenient about end-of-life circumstances. So, I guess I'll settle on a "3" for the rating. Day-to-day, fantastic...weekends totally out of reach. Unacceptable in my opinion and they totally failed Sadie when she needed them most.

I will never go to this clinic ever again! IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: I had to learn this the hard way, but NO accredited Veterinary association recommends non-anesthesia dental cleanings. Only an anesthesia cleaning can thoroughly clean a pet's mouth and detect all potential issues before they become big issues. Beware of any veterinarian who offers non-anesthesia cleanings!!

My dog, Koa, was boarded at this facility on two occasions: July 3-5 and July 10-14. I cannot determine during which stay he became ill. When I picked him up on July 14, he was noticeably lethargic and not acting like himself. Later that evening, his condition declined rapidly. He became disoriented, was unable to stand to go outside, and his temperature measured 106°F. He was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic and admitted immediately. Over the next several days, Koa's condition was described as critical. His white blood cell count was dangerously low, he continued to spike high fevers despite continuous fluids and cooling measures, and he required round-the-clock hospitalization. Multiple veterinary teams repeatedly prepared me for the possibility that he might not survive. I was told more than once that his prognosis was very guarded and that we needed to be prepared for the worst. He underwent extensive diagnostic testing, including imaging and a bone marrow biopsy, and ultimately required transfer to Washington State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital for ICU-level and internal medicine care. He remained hospitalized for nearly a week. The drive to WSU was approximately an hour and a half each way, and I traveled whenever possible just to see him during limited visiting hours, not knowing if each visit might be my last. Despite exhaustive testing, no definitive source of illness was identified. Koa ultimately survived due to aggressive medical intervention, including prolonged steroid therapy and the advanced care provided by the critical care and internal medicine teams at Washington State University. His total medical expenses exceeded $12,000. The owner of the boarding facility was contacted on the morning of July 15 by my boyfriend to inform her of the situation and to ask whether any other dogs had been ill during that timeframe, as this information could have assisted with veterinary diagnostics. Although I am the legal owner of the dog and the individual listed on all veterinary and boarding paperwork, the facility owner never contacted me directly by phone or email. I would have expected direct communication with the registered owner during a medical emergency of this severity. To this day, she has never reached out to me personally. Koa survived, but his recovery was long and difficult. He required months of steroid therapy with significant side effects, including excessive thirst, increased urination, and loss of bladder control--none of which he had experienced previously. Initial attempts to taper him off steroids resulted in serious complications requiring further medical intervention. He ultimately required additional long-term medication and ongoing veterinary monitoring. The emotional distress of nearly losing a family member after trusting a facility to care for him is something I would not wish on anyone. Beyond the medical crisis itself, the lack of direct communication with me as the registered owner was particularly difficult. I am not making claims of legal fault or causation. I am sharing my experience. Pets are family, and facilities entrusted with their care carry a significant responsibility. I strongly encourage anyone considering boarding here to ask detailed questions about illness monitoring, emergency response procedures, and communication expectations. I sincerely hope others take the time to think carefully before entrusting their animals to this boarding facility.

We decided to have her hospitalized and treated, and signed the paper stating we understood that the emergency clinic closed at 8AM Monday morning, so pickup or arrangements needed to be made earlier. We called to check on the dog Sunday afternoon and see if she could be picked up. The tech told us that they wanted to watch her for a while longer, and told us that they would contact us in the morning to let us know if she was ready to go home. We heard nothing further. We got a call after 8AM on Monday from a tech who told my wife that they were closed and we would need to pick up the dog ASAP. We hadn't been told that our dog was ready to go home and to prep for discharge, so I was at work, and my wife was prepping kids and on her way to an appointment. My wife tried to explain that we had been waiting to hear the update from their clinic as we were instructed, but the tech wouldn't listen. I also called to attempt to explain the situation, and the tech said "We can go back and forth all day if you want to, but you signed the paper that said you understood we closed at 8AM. If you don't pick up the dog, you'll need to pay for an exam and boarding from the other office that's here." The tech was rude, uninterested in listening to us, and the staff didn't follow up as promised. I understand what we signed. We made the mistake of trusting the information that the staff gave us when we called to be up to date and accurate. When I got there, the tech had highlighted my signature and initial sections, and re-emphasized when we should pick the pets up next time. If we have any other option, there won't be a next time.
