We cannot say enough good things about our experience at VCA MacArthur. The staff is very friendly and professional. They always make our puppy feel welcome and loved. Dr.Frisch as well as the other doctors carefully explain the care our puppy is getting and are happy to discuss with us different options. Our boy had an allergic reaction to his first immunization and I rushed him back to VCA and they couldn't of been more caring and gentle with him to make sure he was ok and to help him feel better. Since then he has had a personalized treatment schedule when he has had his shots, taking into account his health. Our boy loves going to VCA and is always excited to be there. I don't know how many dogs love the vet but he certainly does. We wholeheartedly recommend VCA MacArthur. From the front desk, to the nurses and doctors everyone shows love, affection to our dog along with top notch medical care.

Sammy super excited to be at the vet and waiting patiently to see Dr. Elkins

I had been with them from 2015-2018 until my prior cats had passed away. They were so wonderful with my first two cats that when I saw Palisades routinely does international travel certification, I wondered why I had ever left them. The front desk was friendly and made our lives so much easier by scheduling all four cats on the same day. Even though it has been almost a decade since I've been there, I was treated like an old friend coming back. The vet tech and the doctor gently handled each one of our babies with great care...even our spicy girl Isabela! You can tell they really love animals. At no point were we made to feel bad or shamed for having a spicy cat, which is a really nice change from past vets who would show their disdain for our little girl. The doctor truly understands that animals are reacting out of fear and not malice, which was refreshing. If we weren't moving away permanently, we would definitely make this our go-to place again. Thank you for all the of the helpful tips for international travel!

My mom made a 15 minute vaccine appointment for the cat and my brother in law brought the cat in. Without asking permission Palisades did a physical, blood tests, and a urine draw before giving us a 700$ bill. This is like taking your car in for an oil change and finding out later they replaced the transmission. My mom called to speak to the manger and when she did not return my mom's phone call, I called on her behalf. The office staff was really apologetic and said they made a mistake (5 stars for the office staff!) and said that their office manager Vicki would call me or my mom back. Vicki did not call either of us back and when I got through to her later was basically a monster. I was not looking for a full refund and told her that, but an apology would have gone a long way. Also, I work for a hospital. If this had happened at my job: doing a procedure on a patient without permission- you would lose your license. Vicki - who is not a vet- would absolutely have lost her job for this. I recommend if you are need or service that you buy a round trip ticket to Europe for you and your cat and get a rabies booster over there. I also want to add that after I posted this google review I received a threatening text from the CEO "Ry" from his personal cell (posted). When I called him for clarification, he started screaming at me and then told me he knows all about me and my family and threatened to hurt us.

I never write negative reviews, but I am extremely disappointed with this place…read more We have been bringing our dog here for two years, and our experiences with the other doctors have been good. Unfortunately, this was our first time seeing Dr. House. Our 2-year-old dog developed a serious eye problem. Dr. House stained his eye, said she didn't see anything concerning, and prescribed an antibiotic and steroid drops. His eye got worse, so we brought him back. She prescribed another antibiotic and put him in a cone, telling us not to take it off. When he still wasn't improving, we brought him back for a third visit. She switched him to a different antibiotic, which seemed like it should have been the first option. Because he wasn't acting like himself, Dr. House then told us we could remove the cone. We followed her instructions and threw it away, assuming he no longer needed it. I had no idea how expensive replacement cones were. Since there had been no improvement, I called my sister-in-law, who is a veterinarian and graduated from Cornell, one of the top veterinary schools in the country. She was very concerned that steroid eye drops had been prescribed before the underlying cause of the eye problem had been identified, and she was equally surprised that the cone had been discontinued. She explained how important it is to keep a cone on until an eye injury has fully healed and told me to get another one immediately. When I returned to the clinic to get a replacement cone, they wanted to charge me $54. Given that we had thrown the original one away based on the doctor's instructions, I felt they should have provided another one as a courtesy. If I had known he still needed it, I never would have thrown it away. I would have been willing to continue bringing my dog here if Dr. House had shown some understanding and empathy. Instead, I felt she became defensive, as though I was accusing her of doing something wrong. That was never my intention. My concern has always been about my dog's care. Based on everything that happened, I don't believe he was started on the right treatment, which may have contributed to his condition worsening. I also believe advising us to remove the cone was a serious mistake. As the treating veterinarian, she should have known how important it was to keep the cone on until the eye had fully healed and should have emphasized that it should remain on regardless. His eye is now in very bad condition, and we are seeing a veterinary ophthalmologist tomorrow. I understand that not every treatment works and that medicine isn't always straightforward. However, after three visits with no improvement, conflicting instructions, and being charged for a replacement cone after following the doctor's advice, I have lost confidence in this clinic. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

It was advertised to include three potty breaks a day, six hours of daycare, a complimentary bath, and 24/7 camera access. Ironically, the only thing we actually received was the camera. Instead of giving us peace of mind during our vacation, it became a live stream of our dog struggling. The first red flag came at drop-off. A young staff member immediately tried to force a thin slip lead over our dog's neck and started pulling before giving him any chance to get comfortable. He choked and panicked. Looking back, we should have trusted our instincts and walked out. Our corgi has been leash-trained since he was a puppy. He's been to groomers, veterinary hospitals, dog sitters, and other boarding facilities without anyone ever saying he couldn't be safely handled. Later, we were told the staff didn't want to leash or touch him because they were worried about getting bitten. Because of that, he wasn't taken outside for potty breaks, didn't go to daycare, and spent almost the entire two days alone in his "Luxury Suite." Our dog is fully potty trained and will hold it for as long as he can. But when no one takes him outside, eventually he has no choice. He ended up peeing and pooping in the room and was left sitting in it. Watching the camera was heartbreaking. Throughout our trip, we repeatedly checked the live feed and kept seeing him alone--standing or lying by the door for hours. Corgis are active, social dogs that need exercise and interaction. Knowing we were hundreds of miles away and couldn't help him completely ruined our vacation. When we picked him up, he had urine and feces on his legs and body. He was clearly stressed, had lost almost a pound in just two days, appeared dehydrated, and later developed stomach problems. What hurts the most is that nobody called us. If they truly believed they couldn't safely care for our dog, why didn't they tell us? We would have turned around immediately or found another place for him. Instead, they simply stopped providing the services we paid for and still charged us the full price. We were also promised a call from a supervisor on Monday. That call never came. Their website says, "We're more than just a boarding facility; we're a luxury retreat for your dog... give your pet the vacation they deserve." After what we witnessed, those words feel painfully ironic. The camera was supposed to give us peace of mind. Instead, we spent our vacation watching our dog alone in his room for hours through Canine Clubhouse's own camera system. We've preserved the complete camera footage from his stay and stand behind every statement in this review. If Canine Clubhouse believes our account is inaccurate, we welcome them to share the relevant footage or any other evidence publicly. We genuinely hope no other family has to experience what we--and more importantly, our dog--went through.
