I have been enrolled in careclub with auto renew since at least 2018. Without any notifications on their app, or an email they have gone ahead and canceled my membership! My dog has had severe allergies which lead to ear infections so Ive been going in regularly for check ups, tests, medications on repeat. And instead of informing me my careclub is no longer active FOR WHATEVER REASON, they have been charging me for each visit (that should be covered by careclub). Shady. Literally nonsense. If I could take all of their stars away and sue them for malpractice I would. I went to them repeatedly, because my senior dog was limping on one of his hind legs. The doctor - without actually doing any testing - determined it was arthritis and began giving him librela injections to manage pain. In Addition, they said his kidneys were malfunctioning and put him on medication for that. The limping was not getting better, and he had a growth near his limping leg so I went back. They told me the growth was just a lipoma (again no testing) and just said "the injections don't work for every dog". The growth kept getting bigger so I decided to get a second opinion. First thing they did was an xray and were APPALLED that McClave never did one. After several diagnostic tests - the growth and the limping were due to CANCER. My dog had cancer for the better part of a year and McClave brushed it off as arthritis. Secondly, the second vet decided to repeat his blood work since McClave was clearly incompetent. Kidneys? Fine. They told me to immediately stop the medication for his kidneys because his kidneys were fine. Not only that. They told me the medication he was on for his kidneys is actually a heart medication. On top of that, the librela injections they had been giving him were determined to NOT be recommended for senior dogs by the FDA because the negative side effects were too great. Made an appointment at VCA McClave for my dog's annual exam and to check her thyroid levels. We went to a different VCA last year, and I wasn't thrilled with that experience -- so I was hoping this visit would be different. Scheduling was super easy, and this location even has its own private parking lot, which is a huge plus. I had some minor issues with the myVCA app uploading documents, but nothing that affected our visit. The moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly, professional, and genuinely happy to be there. It set the tone right away. We saw Dr. Aguilar, and she absolutely understood the assignment. She listened, walked me through options, and even provided a written Rx for my girl's thyroid medication. My cat goes to Paws and Claws in Woodland Hills. Sadly for them, they may have just lost my business. Because they were unable to take my cat for an important concern and I had days before tried to schedule with PNC through their app and wasn't able to get an appointment that way either. They referred me to a VCA in Woodland Hills that was only a hospital surgery center? Who referred me to their sister property McClave. The exam seemed rushed and not thorough, she was in a big hurry had to ask her to take my cats temperature. I had to ask to look at my cats teeth felt awkward was not open to discussion, left the room and never came back. Didn't even say goodbye. Since my cat was not feeling better and still drooling, I took him to another vet and they took care of my baby with care and professionalism. I've been a loyal customer of this Veteranary hosp. for many years and 5 pets throughout the years. Today we were 10 minutes late to an appointment. upon arrival were told the vet wouldnt see us and to reschedule. This is a great inconvienance and I am angry. My dog had an emergency this morning at 5:30 AM. I drove around to 3, 24 hour emergency hospitals, one is now only open from 11 AM until 7 PM, the other one had a 4-5 hour wait and the third had a six hour wait. I found this hospital by accident, but when I did arrive they made room to see my sick dog and took him right in. The vet tech Hector was very attentive and kind. He helped me feel at ease letting him take my boy back with him. Dr. Sauer called me with a prognosis and he spent time explaining everything to me until I understood. I was able to pick my boy up a few hours later, having been diagnosed treated and with medication. I feel Ozzie got excellent and caring attention and I am extremely grateful that I found them. read more

I work right next door so I thought I would stop by with my new puppy to get all the necessary vaccines and start a relationship with this hospital so we can always be taken care of in case of any emergency. At our first appt, the doctor and the assistant really stressed how beneficial and cost effective the club membership would be. So I got it at $138 a month for a 1 year commitment and I felt safe knowing we had a vet to go to. Fast forward 2 weeks and my puppy got into a plant in someone's yard that was infested with white spider mites. I call the emergency line and Larry on the phone tells me I need to call poison control and pay them to tell me if white spider mites are posionous to dogs, and anyway they would be closing in 15 minutes so I would need to find a 24 hr facility. I told him my puppy seems fine after I gave her an extensive bath and I would just like to schedule an appointment for tomorrow for a check up at our regular vet just to make sure everything is alright. He told me "no I wouldnt wait, I would call poison control and we're closing in 15 minutes." I said I don't think white spider mites (that are only dangerous to plants) are poisonous to dogs and I think she's fine can we just schedule an appointment for tmw? He said no it was like he didn't even want to open up the appointment book since he was about to be off the clock in 15 minutes. Very underwhelming considering we're paying over $1600 this year alone for their membership. First appointment was not too bad; though the assistant was the highlight- not the doctor. 5 stars across the board for this Pet Hospital. My dog Rex was very sick and every place I called had no room to take him in. After calling several places, McClave said they could see him (thank goodness). I was nervous as I'd never been here before but everyone from the lady on the phone, to Cecilia (I believe the nurse's assistant) who was SO beyond sweet and truly made me feel like she cared and that I wasn't just another client.. I even told her she was like a breath of fresh air. Then I met with Dr. Juan who was also very kind and was able to diagnose Rex and although he had to be hospitalized overnight I knew he was in good hands. They are never on time and when the forget to complete a service and call you and tell you to come back and schedule a tech appointment that have the audacity to tell you it's been too long and re charge you after you paid for it last time. Dr. Dylan insisted i put my cat down after paying 3k to amputate his tail. Told me his quality of life would not be good and would have to take 3 different meds daily. This all started feb 2020, fwd to current time my cat is better than ever, has learned to do everything my other cat does like climb walls. I slowly got him off the prozac and other two meds after 3 months, he hated that stuff. Made him a zombie. And has now been off medication for over a year. Had i taken the vets advice i would have put my cat down although it wasn't necessary. I could go on forever about other things that occurred during this period at this location. Like them locking him in kennel with no cone for him to destroy his tail. I demanded to go back there because i could hear him crying, they said he was aggressive which is the biggest lie ever. When i saw him his tail looked like a pealed banana, much worse then when we got there. There was blood everywhere and he pooped himself because he was so scared. He immediately calmed down when u grabbed him, not sure why they took him from me and put him in a cage to self harm himself read more

Great in an emergency and open a little later than other vet offices. My dog jumped out of my moving car through a window (yes, they really do that). We ended up here because I had been here decades ago with another dog and found them to be kind and competent. They still are. We saw several different doctors during our month long recovery and I had nothing but positive interactions with each one. I was able to choose diagnostics and came back for follow ups. Someone called the day after each appointment to check on my dog, see if we had any questions, and to encourage a call if we needed further assistance. The attention to detail helped her heal as rapidly as possible. When we returned for a reevaluation we were discouraged from further diagnostics and encouraged to wait, watch, and warm soaks. I have emailed the facility manager April Miller twice about inappropriate charges that we received following my dog's recent visit and never received a response. We originally called the facility and were quoted $100 less for a very routine heart worm prescription visit - but were then charged $180 for a visit just to be told what we were already told on the phone - that our dog needed to have a blood test before receiving heart worm medication. This does not even include the costs for the medication itself. We were misled, then overcharged, and then ignored by management. I am incredibly disappointed as we have been loyal customers of this facility for the past year, but flagrant overcharging and then management ignoring and dismissing customer concerns is unacceptable. Update: revised my rating as the VCA did finally follow up and did the right thing by refunding us. read more

It is expensive but the staff and the doctors do everything they can. They are passionate and caring. My dog loves them she has been seen by them since she was 8 weeks old. I took my 4 year old terrier when I noticed he had a large bump next to his butt. After taking him to two other places who weren't able to see him I brought him here. I called in ahead to see what the possible wait time was. Although they weren't able to give me a timetable, they did let me know that they charge $130 for him to be seen. I appreciated that they were upfront about this. We walked in about 10:15pm the night before thanksgiving so they didn't have a lot of staff working at the time. There was only one other pet in the waiting room however I don't know if there were more in the exam rooms. Around 10:45 the technician was able to see him and told me that my pup had an anal gland abscess and it would have to be opened up. At around 11:00pm I was moved into the exam room to wait for the doctor. We were seen about 15 minutes later and let me know what the procedure would be and asked if I wanted a quote before they started anything. Finally at around 12:20 they took him in. It took about 15 minutes and the doctor told me how it went. By 1:00am I had my dog but I wasn't able to leave just yet because they were all dealing with a dog in critical condition. I was finally able to pay and leave at 2:00am. It was very tiring to wait an hour once everything was done only to just pay, although I understand the circumstances of a pet in need and the fact that there was very limited staff working at that time. They called two days later to follow up with me so that is always good as well. Since then my baby Kobe has gotten better and I'm glad I was able to get him the care needed. read more

I have taken my cat here for about 5 years. He's an indoor/outdoor cat so he makes at least one or two trips a year for something that happened outside. I have dealt with maybe 2-3 of the vets and they are all very thorough and knowledgeable and explain everything in a way that is easily digestible. They explain the cost of there recommendations before moving forward. The entire staff is very caring and very friendly. They always try to make accommodations even in there busiest of times if your pets care requires same day attention. I have had nothing but great experiences with them. I especially like that they follow up the next day to check in on your pet and if you have questions for the vet they will get back to you the same day to address your concerns. Loved this animal hospital when my dog had lymphoma. They were wonderful. But when my other dog was having stomach issues, joint issues and severe panting, they misdiagnosed her. When we brought her in the second time for the severe panting, the doctor said she had some disease that's common in Retrievers but that there was nothing they could do for her at that point. Why didn't they put the 3 together before it was too late? They were treating the 3 symptoms separately. Then last week I took my cat there for sores around his mouth. They suggested a dental procedure for $2,000-$2,500 and scheduled it for 4 weeks from now. My cat was in pain! He couldn't wait 4 weeks!! I found another vet (with a 4.5 rating on Yelp) who could do the same procedure (for less than half the price) the next day. I loved McClave, but it's time to part company. read more

Nothing but good things to say about my experience. I called the office on a Sunday when my new shelter kitty started sneezing. After all my googling and freaking out I called them and Larry sensed my panic. He figured out the schedule and was able to squeeze me in for a drop off appointment the next morning. When I got there everyone in the front was super nice and friendly. I dropped off my new kitty and an hour later got a call from the doctor who took her time in explaining everything and really helped put my mind at ease. She was a sweetheart. I came here last week with a kitten I had adopted a few days prior. He hadn't been able to keep food or water down for almost 5 days. For my first visit, he was seen by Dr. Nada Khalaf and after explaining that he wasn't able to keep anything down and his bile had a pink tint to it, she concluded it was a lung issue but wasn't sure. She sent us home with a liquid pouch under his skin and medication for infection. As soon as I gave him his medication, he immediately threw it all up and continued to throw up all night. I returned the next morning explaining that the issue was still happening and luckily had another vet take a look at him. I repeated 3 times that he wasn't able to hold anything down and that the medication didn't work. They suggested that I do X-rays (which is not cheap!) that didn't produce any issues, then followed by recommended bloodwork (also not cheap!) that also didn't produce any issues. We were sent home again with another liquid pouch under the skin and appetite inducing pills. He still threw up that night and I decided to slowly try and feed him myself. It took some time but I was able to eventually get his stomach to settle with baby food. In the end, I was left with one failed visit, useless medication that will not be refunded and no results from all the exams. I will never trust their judgement here again and I felt my concerns were not heard since the beginning. read more

People spend THOUSANDS on their pets and to be talked to like the way I usually am met with is just disgusting.DO NOT GO HERE PLEASE! Update and response to the company's reply: If it's so disappointing and not of your core values and/or standards, record the lines when customers call and have supervisors audit each week. Also, pay extra for a video surveillance co like DTT, that complete monthly audits at random of your employees! There are steps to take to improve your customer service if you really want to! What I went through should NEVER happen to a paying customer. Especially when your beloved pet DIED at this clinic. It was completely wrong on so many levels.
