Im surprised the reviews aren't better because we have a fantastic experience today with our boy Muncie. We were seen 15min after our apt and Dr Pitts was kind and caring. Muncie had a laceration and his ear and we were taken care of within 2 hours of closing. Muncie had to be sedated to get stitches and all was done in a fast time, even with a busy waiting room. My cat Sam was 17 years old. She was given an injection two days ago for her eye issue, she had constant eye discharge. After the injection, her breathing became labored. She could not eat or sleep. She suffered for two days, I brought her back as a walk in first thing Sat morning. The assistant checked her and said I needed to take her to an emergency facility. I almost gave in, but I asked why Dr Pitt can't see her? After all This happened after he gave Sam the injection. The assistant then said Dr Pitt can see Sam. Another helper came in to take her weight, I asked why? The weight was taken two days ago. The people work there don't bother to check the history, and it is a life or death matter! I could not bear to see Sam suffer more, so I refused more tests, X-rays. I request to let her go. But I want to be with her at the last minutes. Then another assistant comes in to take her away. They robbed me the last 10-15 minutes to be with her!!! I do not want her be terrified without me, but that's exactly what they did. They take her away!!! I am crying hard even now. When they bring her back,her tongue is hanging out, they have given her tranquilizer. Then doc comes in to give her the injection, she is gone in seconds. I am crying because they let her last 15 min on earth being so sick and fearful, without me holding her. I only know afterwards they take her to be catheterized, they put a needle in her forearm. They treat a dying pet with no mercy. I am heartbroken. Spent $1000 in two visits. My Sam is forever gone. Dr Pitt has a good reputation, I am not disputing that. but I am extremely angry about the way Sam was handled her last 15 min on earth. read more

I brought in my kitten, Pesto, today and they've been taking such great care of him. He's not doing well, and I've been in a really stressful situation, but they really showed up for me and helped way more than I expected. Do not take your pet here!!!! We are extremely upset about our experience at this veterinary clinic and feel other pet owners should be aware of what happened. We brought our dog in for a routine dental cleaning that cost $1,000, trusting that he would be safe while under their care. When we picked him up, no one mentioned that anything had gone wrong. When we got home, we discovered that our dog's entire front dewclaw nail was missing, and the fur around the area was covered in dried blood. This was clearly an injury that happened while he was at the clinic, yet no one informed us before we left, offered an explanation, or gave any instructions for care. We had to discover the injury ourselves. Concerned about our dog, we brought him back to the same clinic for answers. Shockingly, we were told that they do not know what happened to him and could not explain how our dog lost his entire dewclaw while in their care. It has now been 10 days, and our dog is still not acting like himself. He continues to lick the paw and is not jumping or moving the way he normally does. Pet owners trust veterinary clinics with the safety of their animals. In this case, there was no transparency, no accountability, and no explanation for an injury that occurred while our dog was under their supervision. Because of this experience, we cannot recommend this clinic. read more

My bill wasn't as crazy as I thought it would be considering how many extractions they had to do, and they didn't seem to judge me (to my face at least lol) I would definitely go there again. read more

This review is to truly convey my gratitude and absolute awe at how Dr. Pitt handled my dog. I have a German Shepherd who is reactive and extremely protective. His backstory doesn't matter here - what matters is that he's like my child. For years, I took him to a veterinarian who would cancel his appointments over the slightest growl. She insisted I sedate him heavily the night before and the morning of each visit so much so that he could barely walk. I used to fear that all those sedatives would make him stop breathing. The experience left me anxious and desperate to find someone who actually understood dogs, not just small, easygoing ones, but dogs like mine. Then I was referred to Dr. Pitt. To call him the Cesar Millan of veterinarians wouldn't do him justice. From the moment he and his vet tech walked in, they exuded confidence - completely unshaken by my dog's growls or his typical tough-guy act. They weren't intimidated. They didn't waste time. The funny thing was that when my dog realized his usual bravado wouldn't shake them, he stopped the drama. And I have to mention Dr. Pitt's vet tech - who, at maybe 5'3" walked in without a hint of fear. I'll admit, when I saw her, I thought, Uh-oh, she's tiny...But I couldn't have been more wrong. She was the Robin to Dr. Pitt's Batman -- right in the action, no hesitation, Honestly, they should have been wearing capes. I was very pleased with his efficiency as well. My dog had a tumor on his chest, and instead of making us wait for another appointment, he handled the surgery the same day. At first, I was a little unsure, but a friend pointed out how perfect it was - no extra stress from another visit. I think I would have stressed more than my dog if we had to wait. When I picked up my dog, he sat down with me and took the time to talk to me even though I told the front office staff I didn't want to hold him up because I know how busy his office is. I've also brought my younger German Shepherd, Gunnar, to him, and his care has been just as incredible. But it was my 10-year-old reactive boy, Ryz, who had me worried. My advice to anyone with a large or reactive dog is simple: this is your vet. They have a back entrance where reactive dogs can enter through. They cleared the hallways. First off: I have to tell you that I sent a very poor yelp for them several years ago. And I have to eat my hat. Because the care the doctor, in fact, Dr. Pitt is and was off the chain, remarkable and caring and loving and wise at the time I personally had a personal issue with one of the staff members. Not the care of Dr. Pitts Hospital. So please don't distrust my yelps going forward, but rather let us think about how passionate we are about our pets. So please let me redeem my past review or yelp of this organization and just tell you that last week a week ago today we lost our beloved Labrador "Compton". Best dog ever. He went to doggy heaven a week ago tomorrow Monday at our home. Dr. Pitt took us in put us way ahead of everyone else Sunday, during church and after church and just blessed our hearts and told us what we never wanted to hear a really bad news. We recently learned the full impact of Mid Valley's failed surgery on our dog. When a board-certified surgeon at VCA Animal Specialty & Emergency Center performed the corrective $7,000 procedure, they found severe cartilage damage directly caused by the first, botched surgery at Mid Valley. That damage cannot be undone, and it guarantees our dog will develop early arthritis in that leg. There will never be accountability for this outcome, and it's devastating to know he will live with permanent consequences from their work. If you are considering this hospital, please go elsewhere -- your animal's health, longevity, and welfare depend on it. I have also filed formal complaints with the California Veterinary Medical Board and the Better Business Bureau. read more

I'm honestly devastated to leave this review, but I wouldn't want anyone else to have our experience. Dr. Pitt was our vet for seventeen years. Seventeen. I referred tons of people to him, thought he was fantastic. But my dogs were always healthy. Our dog had something happen to his liver - we still don't know what, his decline was like falling off a cliff. We spent over $7000 on tests, a lengthy hospital stay, medications - we ran out of money. We told Dr Pitt we couldn't afford anymore huge bills, but we wanted him to remain our vet and we'd care for our dog with medications, hope for the best. Once Dr Pitt heard we weren't going to continue to bleed money, he stopped returning our calls. Period. We'd call with questions - no response. Our dog was dying and we wanted to do everything we could to keep him comfortable - we needed advice, he clearly did not care. If it wasn't a big ticket item, it wasn't worth his time. We finally switched vets and took him to a wonderful practice in Castaic, Hasley Canyon Pet Hospital - they were incredible. They helped our dog have the best last few weeks of his life possible. The vet there told us that no amount of money would have saved him. We're so grateful to them - but really just shocked to discover what terrible judges of character we were with Dr. Pitt. When I interacted with one of the employees, her demeanor was shockingly rude and hostile. Her behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply unsettling, creating an environment of discomfort and distrust. Beyond the poor customer service, I am concerned about the overall quality of care provided. The lack of empathy and respect displayed by the staff raises questions about their commitment to the well-being of the animals under their care. As a result, I cannot recommend this veterinary practice to other pet owners. The combination of unprofessional conduct and poor customer service makes it an unsuitable choice for anyone seeking compassionate and competent veterinary care. It wasn't always like this. Over the past seven plus years I've been experienced this vet business getting worse each go around. Hours change, dates when the "Dr." is in changes, make an appointment, don't make an appointment, walk-in, don't walk-in. Which is fine, just advise us in advance, not when we get there. The new business practice for today is, I called the phone number listed on their website, just to make sure they're open for business. To hear "this service provider has not setup their mail box" I have their phone number saved for sakes care, and you can't be bothered to set an outgoing message. You don't want us to leave a message, do you. Posting a sign on the door of their "latest policy, or changes, wishes, desires, is infuriating. Update your website or outgoing phone message. You want me to driver over there just to find out what your menu is for today. We have 3 pets with routine check ins and sick days. What happened to this place. They don't need my or anybody else business, enough people will put up with this. Have hours to sit there. Appointment or no appointment they take clients first come first serve. They are spreading out their work load and don't give a hill of beans about appointment times. Trust me I worked the front office at a Dr.'s office in B.H. and I know what that looks like. Then being affronted as you're the idiot because you don't know their latest greatest trending protocol to get pet care. A few years back, being a first time pet "owner", I paid over $1000 to find out she had fleas. She doesn't go outside. I've never had a pet that had fleas. How she got them, I can only guess. Now I know the life cycles of fleas, and the initial signs of them, because apparently my vet doesn't, the groomer identified the problem. She got them that one time. Yes, I'm the ignorant one, but I learned, and I don't run a vet business. Today I called the vet because I do know, that they go by work load, not appointments. I was calling to see how busy vs how sick is my pet, do I pay the extra $95 for not having an appointment. So now that they have us trained, they don't pick up their phones or provide a way to get a call back. I'll get copies of vet records later, and who knows what act of magic I'm going to have to do to get them, but one nightmare at a time. I've been monitoring one of the pets the for the last couple of days and something is off, she is not feeling well, so come in now or make an appointment. I guess neither. read more

I didn't know what to expect with today's appointment, staff and Dr. needless to say, Dr. Rios and Teddy, the vet tech, are absolutely amazing! In today's times you just don't get the same customer service you used to but today I felt like I was living back in the day when people were out to help others. I've been taking my foster dog to this clinic for about 10 months for a chronic skin condition and have always paid out of pocket since the rescue didn't think treatment was necessary. I never had any issues until recently, when my foster dog needed an unexpected surgery that cost over $1,400. The rescue didn't have the funds available, but the vet offered a 10% discount if the dog was registered under the rescue's account. When I registered the dog under the rescue to apply that discount, the front office gave me a very difficult time and even refused to let me pay with my own credit card, even though the rescue was going to reimburse me in payments. Instead of showing understanding, they accused me of only wanting the discount, which was extremely insulting considering I've been paying full price for nearly a year. After things got heated, they decided to deactivate my account completely, which is very disappointing. I've never had an issue with the doctor directly -- the doctors here are caring and professional -- but the real problem has always been the front desk staff. They're consistently rude, overbook the doctors, and even with a scheduled appointment, the wait can be up to two hours. I've been bringing different dogs and cats here for over 12 years, and not one receptionist has lasted long. It seems they keep hiring rude and untrained employees (Sarah being one of them) with no manners or respect for the fact that our pets are family members. The front office staff clearly doesn't care about your pet -- they just want to get you in and out as quickly as possible, without answering questions or taking the time to make clients feel heard. It's truly disappointing to see how poor customer service can ruin what could otherwise be a great veterinary practice. read more

READ THIS FIRST. If I could give a -100/5 stars I would. I waited to place this review for after I got my dog's ashes back because this business is unpredictable and vindictive. If you love and care for your pets like family, I BEG YOU TO READ THIS BEFORE YOU COME TO THIS HOSPITAL. My dog came in for vomiting and lethargy. He was feeling under the weather so I wanted to take extra precautions to make sure he was okay and hydrated. We got in quick for a walk-in and I was pleased with how nice the staff, techs, and doctor was ...AS IT SEEMED. We got an X-ray for my dog as well as other labs. At first I only signed off to get an X-ray done, but they ran other labs anyways and tried to charge me. I thought it was okay because I had ran it through with them and they decided they would take the charges off as I had proof for what I signed off on. Anyways, after the labs and X-ray, I asked to see my dog but they stated they were still trying to take care of him. The staff seemed reliable so I agreed. Then, the vet comes out and shows the X-ray and labs which do show my dog is dehydrated and may have an GI obstruction. MAY HAVE is the key. There were no guarantees. They insisted to rush into surgery and were convincing that if we didn't go in, he might have no chance. So I did what any other pet parent would do, thought about it, sat on it, and decided I wanted to continue because they kept telling me how ill my dog was. I asked to see him before the surgery, but (again), they were still attempting to "stabilize" him. So, I signed the papers because they assured me it'd be an easy surgery, he'd be back home by tomorrow, and that they will keep him for monitoring. That was the last time I saw him. I still wasn't allowed to see him before then so I asked for them to update me to see if he was stabilized before the surgery. THEY NEVER CALLED or updated me. I had to call later for them to tell me they were in the middle of the surgery and had decided he was "stable enough". 20 minutes later I get a call that he passed away due to "cardiovascular reasons". I understand all surgeries come with complications, but the problem was once he passed, they insisted we don't come to see him the same day and to come tomorrow instead. I told them I wanted to see him, so we did, and sure enough I come back to my dog's corpse. The doctor had no remorse. Didn't even bother to come out and tell us what happened no matter how many times we asked for him to come out or call us back. The vet techs were there but there were no clarifying answers given and the stories were not aligned to the phone call they gave us. Not even any proper post mortem care. I'm not upset he passed away, I know things happen and I miss him dearly. I'm upset that the staff couldn't come up with pictures, reasons, or documentation to show what happened at the moment. Once I signed the papers to pay, I never saw Dr.Pitt again. It took days for the Dr to call back only because we gave them a negative review on google which they deliberately tried to remove. With the call, he was extremely defensive and rather than giving us closure, he tried to pin point blame and couldn't give us clarification on what happened during the surgery. It would've been okay if there were answers given, but instead he belittled us as if my family and I weren't grieving. Trust me, the facility and staff look kind, but once they run you your money, you no longer matter to them. The lack of care and consideration they had for my dog is unacceptable. They will look like they care before you sign the papers to pay, but once you sign and pay they no longer will attend to you. I'm not going to say not to go because as a pet parent, my first instinct was to find the closest facility to find my dog care during an emergency, but use your greatest judgement. read more

I am extremely disappointed with this clinic. I only came here because I was referred for the surgery my dog needed, but the experience has been nothing but frustrating! The wait times are outrageously long, even when the lobby is nearly empty. There never seems to be enough staff. They don't take appointments for post surgery check ups, so you're forced into a walk-in system that leaves you waiting for hours with no updates. On top of that, the front office staff is consistently rude and unhelpful, a basic question is an inconvenience. For the clinic's sake and its clients, I strongly recommend implementing an appointment system or at least offering scheduled time blocks to cut down on the excessive wait times. Better staffing and more communication with clients would make a huge difference. I won't be returning after I am done with all the post op visits, and I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values their time or their pet's well-being. read more

Been going here since Oliver was young and now he's 9! So far he's gone under 2 surgeries here and gone under one time for teeth cleaning + extractions; all have been very successful. Terrible Experience -- Misdiagnosis and Overcharging Attempt I brought my cat to this clinic for urgent care because they said he might have pyometra -- a serious and potentially fatal infection of the uterus. After doing blood work, X-rays, and a physical exam, they told me it would cost $2,700 for surgery and hospitalization. What's shocking is that my cat is a male, and pyometra only occurs in female cats. Despite all the tests and examinations, the vet failed to notice this very basic fact. This kind of mistake is not only careless but could have cost my cat his life if I had agreed to unnecessary treatment. I left feeling completely betrayed and heartbroken. I paid for testing that was based on a misdiagnosis, and not once did anyone take responsibility for such a fundamental error. I have been to this veterinary hospital twice, and have had a 10/10 experience with the front desk & everyone that has helped us! My dog is a lab mix, super protective and reactive with strangers/dogs. A lot of other places I've called had denied service for my fur baby for that reason. When I spoke to midvalley over the phone the first time I planned on coming in, I told them about his reactivity and they said it wouldn't be an issue! They still welcomed him, and didn't make us feel uncomfortable! They speak to him like a baby even when he's growling at them! Love this place. read more

I have 6 pets - 3 dogs and 3 cats so I am familiar with vet offices. In the past I have had a good experience here but I will most likely not be returning due to the very poor customer service. In the last 48 hours I have spent approximately $4000 here - $2000 on my dog who needed surgery and another $2000 on my cat who needed to be hospitalized. My complaint is not really about the cost although it is substantial. My complaint is about the poor customer service that I received. I have been placed on hold multiple times for at least 10 and sometimes 15 minutes. Once they did not even answer the phone and the voicemail was not set up. When they did answer, I was immediately put on hold for 10 minutes or more then I was transferred to the vet tech where I was put on hold for another 14 minutes. When the tech finally answered he had no real information and said that the doctor would be calling in a few moments. That did not happen. I had to call back hours later and was placed on hold 2 more times for another 10 - 15 minutes. No employee apologized for the wait and when I mentioned it - the comment was - "we have no control over that. ". The doctor finally called and said that he wanted to keep my cat one more night and the cost would not be as much as the first night. I agreed to let my cat stay. No one followed up with me the next day and I had to call again and be placed on hold for 12 minutes and I was told I could pick up my cat. I went to pick up my cat was told they had to run another test. I asked why this had not already been done since they had had her all day and was told again - we have no control over that. Not a good experience - especially for the costs involved and the serious condition of my. Very frustrating and disappointing. read more

Dr. Pitt cared for my dogs for over 10 years before I moved from the area. He has the expertise to diagnose without over testing. For many years and 4 of our dogs we went there. Our last experience was just not of quality. Our dog had been sick and we made appointment, we got there 15 minutes early and they still had us wait for 1 hour. After all that they said that I needed to bring my dog another day to draw labs and do X-ray because they did not have time. they just take as many pets as possible for the money now. When I brought it to the attention of the lady who answered the phone she gave me attitude and said she has been there over 6 years and that Dr. Pitt is aware of all the delays, that I was welcome to take my dog elsewhere and that for my dog vomiting, loss of weight and lethargic did not indicate an emergency. In my desperation to have my dog seen I relentlessly scheduled appointment for labs and X-rays. Then they said he may have cancer but that they needed to do ultrasound to confirm that was going to cost over $1000. At last minute they cancelled it and told us we could take our dog to same vet on Ventura blvd for ultrasound. They really do not care anymore, they are over saturated to care enough for their customers. read more

Don't bother. Super long wait times even with an appointment. Vet spends 60 seconds in the room and doesn't actually have any answers to your questions. Front office staff isn't helpful. My cat needed an antibiotic shot that they said was out of stock. A week later I still had not heard back from them. I finally called to ask. They had me on hold for 10 minutes and then said the antibiotic was delivered while I was holding. Which really means they had it and forgot to call me. They said I didn't need an appointment and to bring her in anytime. I brought her in and it took 1 hr and 20 minutes for her to receive the shot. Going to find another vet after 10 yrs. Shocked at how poor their service has gotten. read more

I cannot warn people enough to not go here: They do the catheter approach for UTI which is very painful for your dog and they jam it up there so your dog will bleed for days after. This happened multiple times before I started going elsewhere and learned that this was not recommended by any of the other vets I've visited. My dog was diagnosed with a kidney infection for an untreated UTI and the vet gave him 7 days of medication which is not SOC for a diabetic dog. Of course, the infection never went away and he was re-diagnosed. At the time my dog was diagnosed with diabetes it was very apparent he also had Cushing's disease. I talked about this concern in depth and wanted a test for Cushing's disease. I was told the vet would know by checking at other lab indicators rather than performing the test. I was told my dog does not have any indicators for Cushing's so they did not check for it. I took my dog to another vet and he was diagnosed with Cushing's. read more

I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough. My German Shepherds have had three joint surgeries here over the last ten years, and each experience has been TERRIFIC. Not only are the doctors top notch (they listen, they're skilled surgeons, they explain everything and commit to real follow-up) but the vet assistant's are very nice and the front desk staff polite, efficient and really helpful (ie. I wanted to visit my dog after his surgery but could only come after hours and they made it happen). The clinic offers a reasonable, set fee for each surgery (in my case, knee and elbow repairs, common in big dogs) that includes the procedure, antibiotics, sedatives, as many overnights as the docs deem necessary, all x-rays and follow up appointments. Every time I go to Mid Valley, they impress me with their professionalism and efficiency. Wait times are are reasonable. The clinic is clean. The staff is engaged. The care is excellent. So grateful. I'm a big fan of Dr Pitt & his whole staff! They saved my 14 year old cat's life when another vet was ready to just put him down without saying much about what could potentially be done to save him. Sure, sometimes the wait is a tad long, but that is because they take 911's last minute and because they are so good that have a ton of people who bring their pets there. They are friendly, they explain everything, they are efficient and not overpriced. They get 5 stars from me, 5 paws up! read more
