VUCC is an absolute money-grab scam and I would never suggest that anyone takes their pet there in an emergency. They will only band-aid remedy a problem and make no effort to SOLVE the problem. Here is my experience: Yellow lab, diarrhea for a week and started vomiting, progressed to having poop accidents in the house and vomiting even when she hadn't ingested anything, which eventually resulted in blood in her vomit. During this progression I was out of town on a business trip and had to fly back and take her to urgent care. Urgent care just pumped her with IV fluids and gave her anti-nausea medication. I provided fecal and bile and they just said "we dont do that here". But, they do X-rays though, thats a good chunk. $750 for xray, fluids, prescription, and no actual resolution. They just straight band-aid the problem and send you on your way with nothing. I asked them "Why aren't you prescribing antibiotics?" They said "We don't see anything that would suggest she needs it." I was absolutely dumbfounded. Moving on 1.5 weeks later after doing everything they suggested, pills and blande diet, she is right back to where she started. We called them back and asked for a refill of the anti-nausea prescription and they're telling us "No, you have to bring her back in." Everything about this place screams money grab. DO NOT GO HERE. TAKE YOUR PET UP THE STREET TO WILLARD VET. Its a little more expensive but they get the job done, get it done right, and get it done the first time. read more

Went in to see why my French Bulldog was lethargic for the pass few days. Vet ordered an x-ray just to tell me that they can't see anything because there was still food left in his stomach and that they recommend a blood work now. In the end got sent home with a $492 bill and 4 tablets of nausea medicine that didn't work for $68 when you can find it online for $17... I also brought up a concern regarding blisters on my Frenchies wrinkle/mouth area and the vet didn't mention anything about it but was more focused on recommending a bunch of test for his regurgitating. A month since the appointment and my dogs blisters are getting worse and now I have to find a new vet I can hopefully trust to genuinely listen and care. read more

Really nice and quality vet if you're in a pinch! I recently adopted a dog and needed a vet to do a wellness check. All of the other veterinarians are booked solid for the next month! I was able to schedule an appointment and they saw my dog as soon as I arrived! They explained the vaccinations and meds my dog needs and why and offered to continue care if I am still unable to get an appointment with another vet. I paid $660 just for them to tell me my dog needs a little more fiber in her diet and too drink water slower........ They also dont allow you to come inside, at all. No waiting room, no ability to stay with your pet. You wait on sidewalk and call from outside... Avoid this place. The vet doesn't even break down what you're paying for and tells you that you need this and that for your dog. On my last visit, I specifically asked for a certain medication for my dog. She prescribed me a 30 day supply and recommended some other treatment that would require me to keep coming back to this place for application. Not to mention that this place priced the medication twice as expensive as what you can find online. Then she sells me this other topical medication that I wasn't aware that you could buy on amazon for half the price. And she ended up ordering another test that was not related to what I brought my dog in for which racked up the bill to an insane number. She didn't even bother to tell me the results but I get some email that she prescribed another product to buy on their online store where they are affiliated with (Also overpriced). I love how she did this because I wanted a prescription where I can shop on my own online and not on your affiliated online store! This place is a cash grab especially during covid times. And to make my point very clear, you're trying to tell me these apoquel is expensive. That's because YOU guys are charging over double the price. And I have friends that give their dogs apoquel for years now without issues. Cytopoint would require me to come in every month for injections. You can literally get 100 ct 16mg apoquel online for $1.79 per pill which would be $52.49 per month for treatment. But if you're going off your inflated prices of $3.32 per 16mg pill , it wouldn't make sense cost wise. And if you look at cytopoint cost online, you can see for yourself that apoquel is not more expensive because cytopoint requires a vet to inject which would include the cost of the visit and cost of application. You can call it miscommunication but if you knew that these pills are pricey, you should've clearly asked if I wanted a written prescription or have you guys fill it. And I feel bad for anyone else you do this to. For everyone else reading this comment, If you must go here for medicine for a non-emergency situation. DO NOT LET THEM FILL THE PRESCRIPTION. Dr. D'Andrea is wonderful! I was at UC two nights in a row. Twice with my dog, once with a shelter cat, and once with a friend's cat. She and her staff immediately put me at ease, answered all of my questions, and helped us quickly. I've been to other vet emergency establishments, and almost every had to wait for quite a while. That was not the case, and I was grateful. I left feeling clear about the situations and never felt pressured to have unnecessary tests done. They went above and beyond. Very disappointed. Can only communicate via text. We had a 6:20 appointment and upon arrival received a text saying they were delayed until 7:05! How do you explain that to an anxious dog? They did check her in right away and told us to get something to eat and come back. We got back at 7:50 and she hadn't been seen yet and wasn't until after 8:30. Wasn't satisfied with what vet told us and they also refused to cut her nails and give her a rabies shot; they want her back in 2 weeks. She had a condescending attitude from the start and clearly doesn't have the appropriate type of temperament to work in an urgent care center for animals and their people. Her choices of words are also a reflection on her. My family and I felt attacked by this vet and the more she responds and gets defensive with no basis, the more attacking she comes off. She was super aggressive, dismissive, and unwelcoming from the moment she walked into the room - as though we were an inconvenience on her day. We had heard warnings about her as I mentioned in my original review, but this was a last resort given the time of night. She was not gentle with my cat and stressed him out unnecessarily - not appreciated. Again, the procedure that I'm so glad I had to insist on - that the vet fought against - caused no discomfort whatsoever for my cat (except for the rough handling). In fact, just the opposite... he was more comfortable and because of MY choices as his caring pet mom, he is doing fantastic. After that experience, I would never, ever entertain going to VUCC again. My Boston Terrier woke up yesterday with an apparent tooth abscess. Her own vet couldnt see her and I called over 10 places and got the same answer, all booked up cant help. One of the vets I called gave me the number for urgent care in Plymouth. We took her as a walk in appt. We waited maybe 45 minutes but during that time we were cpntacted by phone numerous times to talk about what was going on with her. The appt went well, everything was explained and she was given antibiotics and sent home with follow up. This facility is run very well. They got people and their pets, (both scheduled and walk ins) in and out in a organized and timely matter. I would recommend this urgent care to anyone. As there is currently unprecedented demand for veterinary services they can get away with the below , but I hope those reading this review will only visit them if your situation is dire and your pockets deep, as clearly their ethical center and actual concern for their patients is superseded by unabashed greed and lack of accountability. My dog had been treated for a routine procedure for a wound at the Plymouth location that prior to the visit he had largely recovered from and showed no signs of illness or infection. we just needed the wound cleaned and looked at. Whatever they did and diagnosed and gave him have destroyed this dog. People who know him immediately ask WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM? My once joyful dog is like a ptsd victim, lethargic not eating terrified of people - his personality has changed to the extreme. He was shaved in a manner that gave him a severe razor burn and was in constant distress. They offered no remedy when asked wanting money for this simple advice. I emailed and asked for simple ADVICE to diagnose these post visit changes which were not some delayed reaction. They forwarded it to the Quincy location after charging me $300, including nearly triple the regular retail for a common prescription, they refused to call to discuss these POST visit changes and wanted to charge again to re-evaluate their diagnosis offering a $10 discount. Not happy at all! My pup collapsed ( sort of like a seizure) after our walk so I obviously wanted to have him seen. Took about 20 minutes for him to come around so called VUCC..no appts until next day online, no option to speak to someone, dial 0 if in parking lot...so went there called from parking lot. I explained what happened and just wanted to have him looked at ...maybe blood work, etc. they told me to bring him to 'urgent care' ( thought I was??) because he collapsed. Told them it has happened before and ...again..just want to double check that he was okay. They then told me they were 'at capacity for emergencies '!! Would it take that long to put that on the website or at least have an option to speak to someone before we waste time driving there and finding out our pet can't/won't be seen?? That valuable time might save an animal's life if brought to an urgent care that will see and treat them. They were so quick and efficient. Better than our regular vet that we had gone to many times the past year regarding my dogs itchy skin and their treatment hasn't worked. This urgent care ran some tests and prescribed some medications that actually worked! I really appreciated them showing the charges ahead of time so that we could remove services/medicines that weren't affordable and not be shocked when checking out. I attempted to bring my dog here on 4/29/21. He had been missing for 6 days and we had just finally found him. I called to check him and was told that because I was not here already that it would be a 150$ charge. At this point i was already here so i asked to be seen. Super impressed with this clinic, most importantly the vet there. I went on a Sunday because it's the only clinic I could get into for my dogs skin infection so that I wouldn't have to ask off from work. The vet was super patient and kind to me and my dog, making sure all tests and treatments were okay with me both financially and clinically. I appreciate this as I have felt taken advantage of in the past with vets. She was very compassionate for my elderly dog, and that these infections have been something chronically we have dealt with for 9 years now, and we will continue to deal with. (He's a rescue and I knew this when I adopted him) Often in the past I've been made to feel bad about not doing enough for him and felt blamed for his problems. The vet was very understanding of his condition and didn't blame me but complimented me on not giving up on him. That's such a change for me and felt like a breath of fresh air that almost brought me to tears because no one has ever complimented me on how much work I put into him, they always think it's not enough, even after I spent $4,500 on a surgery for him last year. The prices were high but not as bad as most emergency places. There wasn't a wait either which was super nice. Overall, really happy to have found a vet that is so kind and compassionate. I came in here a wreck on Sunday with my 1 year old olde English Bulldogge because I was not willing to wait until Monday morning to see my regular vet. I made an appointment online for 12:30pm ( it was the first available) but decided to come in when they opened at 11:00. My puppy was not acting like herself and had blood in her stool, so I had been in panic mode since the night before. I immediately relaxed the second we walked in the door. The front desk area was small, but very clean. Most importantly, I was acknowledged the second I walked in the door with a smile and told that we would be seen very soon...... and we were! We were in a room within 10 minutes. The exam room was very clean and it was comfortable enough that my pup jumped right up on the bench to sit with me. We waited a little bit, not nearly as long as I would anticipated going to an urgent care on a weekend, especially when I could hear the other animals coming in. What happened next really made both my experience and my puppy's experience so great. For starters, when the tech came in, she introduced herself to me right away and asked me questions about Bella and how she had been feeling. She didn't stare into her computer the whole time, she looked me in my eyes and interacted with Bella as well. When it came time to take her temperature...... she got down on the floor to do it. My puppy is petrified of having her temperature taken and she remained almost completely calm. I assisted with holding Bella and she only squirmed once or twice. I was taken back by how compassionate and gentle the tech was with Bella. She did what was comfortable for Bella, not what was easier for her. Dr Christie was absolutely amazing. She introduced herself to me right away and also got down on the floor with Bella to examine her. I was so impressed by this. It may seem like a little thing, but it made all of the difference for Bella not being on the exam table( and I didn't have to assist with trying to hold her still on an exam table that is a couple feet off of the ground). The Dr explained what was going on with Bella and what the treatment would be using terms that I could easily understand . I have a medical background, but I appreciated that she wanted me to fully understand what was going on and that Bella would be ok! Dr Christie is the first vet that has ever made me feel this comfortable and feel 110% confident in Bella's treatment the second she walked out of the room. Before we left, another staff member came in with Bella's food and medication already in a bag and thoroughly explained what her treatment would be. From start to finish we had a great experience! My only regret about this experience is that I didn't come here sooner! read more

I have a cat with FLUTD and his brother started exhibiting symptoms. They were able to get me in around 3:30 even though the next appt. on the website was 8pm. They have wait times posted on the website so you'll know if you're going to be waiting a while. FLUTD is a stupid disease that is hard to manage and sometimes it's just trial and error to figure out what works. I really appreciated that the Dr. gave me her recommendation of what to try next. When the brother had an episode the week before my primary vet was very indecisive and even said I could just try to keep doing what I'm doing. They were compassionate and not too expensive. The visit was $78 which is only $9 more than my regular vet visit and cheaper than my vet's same day fee. Tests were a little more expensive than my regular vet but medications were actually a little cheaper. I'm considering switching to VUCC for all my pet care! My only criticism is that the e-mail you the itemized bill so you don't see what you're being charged for until you get the e-mail receipt. I just had a great experience at VUCC! I'm visiting Boston from Los Angeles and needed someone to look at an infected mole/skin tag on my 12 year old German Shepherd. The tech that did the initial phone intake was extremely pleasant and patient as I explained my dog's history -- I was nervous about bringing my dog somewhere new as we've been with our regular vet for over 6 years. I arrived about 20 minutes before my appointment time and was taken early. The vet (I think her name was Kate) called me after completing the exam and went over everything. She spent a long time on the phone with me, explained the different treatment options, and answered my million questions. I didn't feel rushed or pressured. They were also able to trim my dog's nails which is always a process because she needs to be muzzled and gets extremely anxious. I was pleasantly surprised at the pricing -- it was not much more than what I'm used to paying at my regular vet, considering this is an urgent/walk-in facility. Saturday night we brought our dog in to see Dr D'Andrea because we suspected a UTI. Our regular vet was closed for the weekend and thought our only other option was the 24hr Animal Hospital. Thankfully we found Veterinary Urgent Care Center. We conveniently scheduled our appt on line within the hour. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted by Ashley who got us registered and settled into an exam room. Next Dr D'Andrea saw us and we couldn't have been more pleased. Urinalysis was done and culture being sent out. We left with a treatment plan and antibiotics. We are very happy that we now have treatment options in Quincy for after hour and weekend care rather than using the 24hr animal hospital. Dr D'Andrea is very professional, compassionate, and personable. We would not hesitate using this practice again. Cost was about what we pay at our reg vet, maybe slightly more but MUCH less than 24hr Animal Hospital. Ashley and Elle were wonderful too! read more

My dog was cut on her neck while being groomed and it looked more than just a superficial cut. My vet couldn't get me in late on a Friday and and referred me to Angell Memorial. As it wasn't an emergency, it seemed a bit over the top to go to Angell but I wasn't comfortable just leaving it alone. After showing the wound to a few other dog owners they all agreed it might need stitches. I found VUCC and decided it was worth a shot to bring my dog in rather than wait through the weekend. There was no wait, the doctor was great. Thankfully my dog didn't need sutures/staples. She cleaned the wound, gave me an antibiotic ointment as a precaution and sent me on my way.
