Hard to find at first since it's located in an industrial part of the Valley but since Crossfit isn't your normal average gym, it needs an open space like a warehouse for the exercises. The place is on Oxnard after Kester. Pull into a small burger shack and the Bill Ferrel Co. and it's behind that. Been taking classes since October since I've plateau'd after working out consisting the last few years. I love it. Every class is different so your body doesn't get used to it, but with time you can build strength, endurance and power. The owner Mike Latch also teaches most of the classes and he along with the other students are very helpful and supportive. This isn't like a hard body place where everyone is conceited and you have no reason to be shy, everyone is so nice. The first class is free so you can try it and I am hooked. $150 for 10 classes or unlimited per month. 10 classes is good at first if you can't come all the time. (At first, I would be so stiff 3 days at a time for the first 2 weeks, now I do unlimited). Each class is an hour long, and they have a lot of classes depending on what time you can come in. They do a variety of workouts; sometimes with weights, kettlebells, cardio, pushups, jumprope, etc. etc. I honestly feel so much better after I go. It's hardwork that pays off.

I've been taking my 9year old nephew to the kids CrossFit class, and he absolutely LOVES it. The class pushes my nephew physically, and mentally. Jay (the coach) is beyond helpful, and I truly appreciate how she coaches CrossFit ! She is attentive and assertive in just the right way with all the kids in class. My nephew can become shy when it comes to active activities cause he isn't the most athletic, but jay knows how to push him in the right way. She encourages him and gives him the right guidance and motivation for him to want to push himself ! He walks away so happy(and not to mention, BEAT! Lol). My girlfriends 6 year old niece has also started to attend the class and she absolutely loves it as well. It's been a couple of months of them being members, and they both love to brag about their awesome coach jay!

    Always having fun!!!

This location used to have solid equipment, especially for back training -- both upstairs and downstairs. Most of those machines are now gone. There's only one incline chest machine upstairs, nothing for decline, and the good shoulder press machines were removed as well. Meanwhile, there are way too many wooden platforms and very little variety in actual strength machines. Upstairs there's one odd back row machine, and that's basically it. The layout makes no sense now. Downstairs, it feels like you're working out while hundreds of people are watching. On top of that, the bench press stations are placed right next to the dumbbells and flat benches, so people are constantly curling and walking around you while you're trying to bench, which is distracting and unsafe. Upstairs, machines are positioned directly facing other people, which is awkward and uncomfortable. Equipment feels scattered and poorly planned -- you walk over to use one machine and suddenly it's placed next to something completely unrelated. I don't understand who redesigned this or why, but the changes have significantly downgraded what used to be a well-equipped gym. What happened to all the good equipment?

5 stars - my go-to Equinox location…read more Equinox Studio City is my home gym and I'm here pretty much every day. I've been to Hollywood, DTLA, West Hollywood, Glendale, Santa Monica, and Studio City is still my favorite overall. Biggest thing is cleanliness. For how busy this place gets, it's always maintained. Towels are always stocked, locker rooms are constantly being cleaned, and I've never walked into a shower that was out of products. There's always staff in there keeping everything in check. Another huge win is Erewhon Studio City right next door. You finish your workout and immediately have a solid post-workout meal ready. Nothing beats that. There's no Earth Bar here, but honestly you don't even need it because Erewhon is better. You do have to time your workouts though. Early mornings before 8am are the best, weekends early are even better and usually empty. After 9-10am it starts getting packed, and evenings around 5-7pm are honestly tough if you're trying to get a smooth workout in. People complain about parking because the plaza gets busy, but I've never had an issue. I go early, get a great spot, and I'm out before it gets crazy. One issue I've raised multiple times is people bringing oils into the steam room. When they pour it in, the whole place smells, it sticks to your body and hair, and I've had allergic reactions from it. It happens less now, but when it does it completely ruins the steam room. Feels like something that could be controlled better. The vibe here is more low-key, which I like. People mind their business and just work out. Compared to Hollywood, which can feel more social and sometimes uncomfortable, Studio City feels way more normal and focused. Front desk and trainers are hit or miss. Some are great, some don't even acknowledge you. Trainers here mostly keep to themselves unless you hire them, while other locations feel more welcoming. Not a dealbreaker, just noticeable. Music is at a good level too--it doesn't interfere with your headphones, which I appreciate. At the end of the day, I'm here daily for a reason. If you figure out the timing, this is one of the best Equinox locations in LA.

Almost $400 a month for a single floor gym? No thank you…read more I couldn't put my finger on it but something about this place just wouldn't allow me to relax. Something just felt very busy and crowded about the space. I never feel anxious working out .. and I gotta be honest I was expecting more. The gym floor just feels CRAMPED. All the cardio machines felt on top of each other. There's a mirror in the center of the floor by the dumbbells that doesn't look secure since it shakes when people drop weights or walk by .. what's that about? If you're someone that likes to do hiit or has your own routine where you just need a little section to exercise, they don't have that. There's people everywhere. There no turf or anything. There's a small stretching area next to the group exercise classroom if you're able to squeeze in and find a space. I do like that they offer theraguns for use in that stretching area. The locker room was probably the best part. Very cozy and very clean. Second best part was the yoga class I took, I enjoyed that. It's nice to have so many classes available, but I'm not one for group classes. Oh yeah, they DID have a versa climber which is rare to find in a gym these days. I appreciated that because I love that thing. Overall I was disappointed, it's just not for me. There's gotta be a better location.
