The overall selection is solid, though as a vegetarian, I felt the options could be expanded a bit, especially with more appetizers like Gobi Manchurian and a few additional curry choices. The biggest downside was the wait for certain items. When dosa ran out, it took about 45 minutes to be replenished--by then, we had almost finished eating. Naan was another disappointment. The available naan was stale and very hard, and fresh batches never arrived, so we ended up leaving without having any. This was around 1:15 PM, and the place wasn't even particularly crowded. That said, the ambiance is fantastic--modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The decor really stands out. Service was attentive and friendly throughout, which added to the experience. It's also nice that chai is included in the buffet. Despite a few operational issues, the food quality and atmosphere make this place worth visiting. Heard about their weekend buffet and decided to give it a try. We came a few minutes after opening on a Saturday and it was already crowded. It was our first time here and it was slightly confusing; we had to observe what majority of the other customers were doing to get an idea of how it works here. The weekend buffet is very self-serve. You get your water or tea by the area where the plates and utensils are, nobody asks if you prefer something different to drink. The only time you get service is when they come by to clear away plates you're finished with and when you check out at the counter. Additionally, they are a bit slow in refilling items, so if you see something you want, get it the first time around, instead of putting it off for another round. Overall, their food was delicious. There was plenty of variety in dishes and the options catered well to everyone's preferred spice level. We dined here tonight and it was fantastic. I hope this restaurant makes it because it offers excellent food at reasonable prices. It's an especially good place for vegetarians. Three of us ordered ragda chat, paneer kuracha, Dahl, lamb vindaloo and naan (both garlic and tandoori). All were delicious and we would order them again. You can specify the spice level and we asked for mild. Ragda chat is an unusual small plate that featured green peas and I'm not sure what else but the flavors were wonderful. Lamb vindaloo is a boneless lamb chunks in a delicious sauce that goes well with rice. Dahl is a good vegetarian dish whose main ingredient is lentils but it tasted better than any lentils I have had. Paneer kuracha is Indian cheese with vegetables and it tasted great. The chefs produce excellent dishes that are very flavorful. The service was attentive and the ambiance is interesting. I think you ought to try this restaurant if you enjoy Indian food. Went for the Buffet on Saturday and $25 was an amazing deal! I am always hesitant that I can't get my moneys worth as a vegetarian at a buffet, but there were plenty of options! There was a paneer curry, mixed vegetable, and another vegetable curry. There was warm butter naan and fresh dosa with Sambar and 4 chutneys. There also was an indo Chinese dish, it was pepper baby corn the day I went. For the appetizers, there was unlimited pani puri, pav bhaji and Dani Vada. The food was very flavorful and I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes. They also have a happy hour 4-7pm that I need to come back for. The servers were so attentive. They were quick to take away used plates and refill the food in the buffet so it was always warm and fresh. It's such a cute ambience, even for a buffet. The serving trays are all gold and pretty. Delicious and flavorful, spiced appropriately, Taste is similar to the original Chutney's in Tempe! Friendly and passionate staff. You can tell the owner really cares about the food being served. As an East Indian, it's hard to find good Indian food in North Scottsdale. I come here weekly, and the food quality is very consistent. They recently started doing lunch buffets from 12pm-3pm on Fridays ($20), Saturdays ($25), and Sundays ($25). The spread is incredible! The owner, Anjani, is incredibly friendly and welcoming to all guests. Even my very particular Indian father loved the food and said that he'll be coming back again and again! The front of the restaurant looks deceivingly small and lackluster, but the inside is colorful and spacious with beautiful Indian decor throughout the entire restaurant. We arrived on a Friday afternoon prepared to order what our friends recommended, but found that on Fridays lunch is a buffet... perfect! More to try! Keep in mind there is a lot of spice, but that is right up our alley! Tried their weekend buffet. And couldn't find a single item that was edible. Usually I try to support newer establishments but find it hard to do so for Veda. Only their pani puri was somewhat passable else every other dish was just terrible. As an example their payasam had turned rancid. Their fish curry had fish that were in their last stages of being edible. None of the others had any seasoning and they were scrambling to have most of their main entries refilled. Both food and ambience get 5 stars. Restaurant is still in its soft launch phase so the bar is only partially operating. The menu is extensive. There are good options for both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. We had an all veg spread this time. For apps we had the mixed platter and for entree the four of us shared daal Veda, paneer makhanvala and saag-corn. All dishes were very different and finger licking good. Service was attentive. Godfather beer was better than most Indian beers one gets. It would be nice to have some local brews on the menu. read more

Disappointing experience. The restaurant has really nice decor and ambience but employees need training in the menu. They should know the food and portion sizes to answer customer questions. If not, they should check with someone that does know or not be working there. The food is smaller sized than other Indian restaurants nearby but we were told otherwise. Overall, the food lacked enough Indian flavor and our stomach felt horrible later in the night. Never an issue we have Indian food at home and restaurants. They were nice to give a complimentary dish to compensate for the misunderstanding. However, it ruined dinner with my family and I will not return since there are better options nearby - Namaste or Raj and Rani's. Take it as a warning when the restaurant is completely empty on a Saturday night. Lastly, as an Indian I prefer to have Indian people managing their restaurant and being present. It's a struggle to find authentic Indian food, especially in North Scottsdale. When I first walked in, I was greeted by Robbie who gave the most warm welcome on day three of their soft opening. The restaurant is well decorated and pays homage to Indian culture with its vibrant colors and eccentric patterns. I ordered a few Indian classics to gauge the quality of the food: samosas with mint and tamarind chutney, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. The samosas were flavorful and crunchy, just like they make back in India. The tamarind chutney was a standout with its perfect consistency and taste. The chicken tikka masala was creamy and packed with chicken but could have used a little more spice (I ordered a medium, so perhaps next time I'll order it spicy). The garlic naan was well seasoned, buttered to perfection, and fluffy and crispy in all the right places. I also tried a delicious mocktail with hints of cherry and pineapple. One of the three Indian owners came to welcome me at the table as well, sharing that both of his chefs hail from India. I sat at a booth which came equipped with a wall plug that had a USB, USBC, and standard outlet for charging devices and noticed that all the booths down my row were also equipped with the same thoughtful touch. My waitress was also very personable and warm, coming back often to check on me and cracking jokes that made me feel like I was having dinner with an ol' friend. The food is really good here. Chef / Chefs know what they are doing. Only thing that erked me was they refused some onion and lemons slice. It is understandable that restaurants are for profit. Said that, mostly when have large order from any Indian restaurant and request onion and lemons slice, they are generally kind enough to give some. And trust me Veda is not cheap, they do deserve a premium on few things as their taste and ingredients are fresh. For some reason that blatant denial of onion and lemons slice is not getting over my head. Also on top, no gravy and curd for biryani, which is part of dish. I would highly recommend. Giving 4 for the way they treated my dasher, missing gravy and curd and no onion lemon slices. Food is good though. read more

My husband and I had the Chicken 65, Aloo Gobi, samosa, Garlic Naan, and the Masala Kulcha Naan. All was amazingly delicious and full of flavor. The margarita cocktail was wonderfully tart and flavorful. The atmosphere is upscale and the music was soothing, making for a great dining experience.
