I went in on Sunday with my baby girl Lola a Yorkie. She was really hot to the touch and acting very lethargic. She just wasn't acting right. My regular vet was closed so we decided to get her checked out at VEG. To say I was uneasy and skeptical was an understatement. I walked in and was greeted by a gentleman at the desk. He took some information from me and sent me a link to my phone to finish "checking in" before I even got the link he was at a scale and ready to take her vitals. Upon speaking to him I was already at ease with the care my Lola was about to get. We had a seat and within less than 15 minutes the Doctor was already talking to me. At this point I was so much more relaxed about her care. By just speaking with these two people and a host of others on staff it was undoubtedly and blatantly obvious that the staff here are TRUE animal lovers. While I have my regular Vet that I wouldn't trade for a million bucks, in an emergency I wouldn't hesitate to bring my baby girl here! read more

You respond to all reviews that are not positive with the same written response. I did email and get in touch and nothing. I disputed the charges twice and I'm forced to pay for un necessary treatment and treatments I did not receive. My pet was grossly misdiagnosed and had to be taken to another vet for an additional 600 in charges. You are horribly shady practice and prey on frightened pet owners. I liked the care that my dog Fofinho received on 3/24/22. They were all very nice, the place is clean and I could tell that they really show love to all animals under their care. The staff works great as a team. It seems that they all get along well with their co-workers. Dr. Lobana is a caring doctor, I loved that she took care of Fofinho, wish she had her own office, I will definitely use her as my veterinarian but unfortunately she doesn't have an office. She called to follow up on Fofinho and she took her time to explain things to me, she made me feel secure that Fofinho was under her great care. This is the second time I use this facility when Fofinho needs an emergency room visit. At one in the morning, we took our white 12yr old Boxer, Paris, in to VEG. She was in extreme distress and we were thoroughly inexperienced and unready for this. Dr. Lobana and her team immediately swarmed Paris similar to an F1 pitstop and in minutes had an IV going and conducted a spot ultrasound. Unfortunately, there was nothing to be done for Paris and Dr. Lobana told us the only decision left to make was for her peaceful exit. We agreed and Dr. Lobana and her team were incredibly compassionate and provided Paris with a comfortable and dignified end. We have another 12yr old boxer, Dexter. We'll be better prepared when his time comes and we know he will be in good hands at VEG. read more

Had a freak emergency where our cat broke all the bones in a back paw jumping from 6ft onto a tile floor. Could not get an appointment anywhere in the tri-state area. Veg in Clifton fit us in, thank God. Our 6year tabby needed an orthopedic vet to do surgery asap but NONE anywhere were available. Everyone we knew was calling. Covid also makes getting emergency vet care harder because the protocols. VEG Clifton was able to see her and also tried but couldn't find an available orthopedic surgeon anywhere. The earliest surgical appointment was too far out so VEG set and splinted her foot as best as possible. Dr Susan Rothstein was very upfront and gave Heddy great care with this serious injury. Great This is a great hospital. Dr. Lobana was super thorough with my sick cat Foxxy Martinez on May 5, 2024. She is an expert veterinary care doctor. Complete explanations were given, very simple to understand, given RX at the time of visit. Excellent. Follow up on tests were given there and follow on x-rays before I started my car up to go home. Excellent!! Triage: Jess H and Lauren are super trained in the field that they love. I watched how they handled other animals, I know I could not, but they are fantastic. I give a lot of credit to the medical field. The Best! Nurses Alex and Emily, I repeat, super trained in this field, complete calm all the time and gentle as could be, the best. They took care of my cat like as if she was their own child. Can't thank you enough. Front desk Ariel and Nicole F. I've been fortunate to never had to bring my baby to any emergency vets up until this year (he's 9). We started our night at a different emergency vet who then recommended we transport our pup to VEG so they could complete the surgery. In emergencies, you don't really have a choice of where you go, so we lucked out by getting able to visit VEG for the first time. We were able to wait with our pup the entire time while we waited for the team to prepare everything for surgery. Not only did they allow us to wait with him, but they brought us blankets, offered us snacks and drinks and just were overall great. When it was time for surgery, you are even allowed to watch from a window to ensure your pet is in good hands (if you can handle watching that type of thing). The surgery went fantastic - Dr.Lodano was very informative the entire time. My dog stayed in the hospital for approximately 36 hours following his surgery. During that time, we were able to visit him and spend time with him whenever we wanted. I did not expect this at all, and was truly so happy to be able to comfortably visit him. From our arrival, to the discharge, everyone at VEG was phenomenal. Every single person we interacted with showed a genuine concern for my pup's well being. We brought her home from the PetCenter in OldBridge on June 20th. We immediately noticed that something was wrong as she began coughing and seemed very lethargic (Day 1). Two days later, we took her into VEG Clifton and essentially, they saved her life. We spent 6 very long, stressful, emotional days with Bella in the ER; we never left her side. We love Bella very much. She is very sweet, a bit timid and nervous, but can be very playful and rambunctious when she's feeling comfortable and rested. She likes to take naps, she's very picky with foods and loves, loves, loves to cuddle with her family. She has also begun to play catch (which is super exciting, considering where she was a couple weeks ago :)). Up until we visited VEG, I didn't even know dogs could get this sick. But Dr. Gonzalez was so calm and patient while listening to our concerns and diagnosing Bella thoroughly.  He was able to clear all our doubts by explaining the issue with the best beside manner you could ask for. He also discussed all the treatment options available to us. Unlike human beings, pets are not able to vocalize or put into words how they feel. They may be suffering from pain or sickness, but would not be able to communicate the same. We like to send personal thank you to Doctors Gonzalez, Tadesco,Calise, Rothstein, and Labano. You guys can not only recognize this pain and discomfort but also effectively diagnose Bella's health and bring her back to us. Additionally, Our Vet Techs, Nurses, staff, and volunteers Versace , Jess, Courtney, Robert, Anna, Shauntel, Julie, Rachel, Ally, Alex, Malorie, and Tiana thank you thank you for the pictures, answering our questions, but most all you were able to bridge this communication gap and provide much relief to Bella because you guys treated her as you would treat your own pets. Today, thanks to your expertise and wonderful care, Bella is doing much, much better. We couldn't have made a better decision by choosing to bring Bella to VEG Clifton. My baby Nirvana was so sick, she was foaming at the mouth and collapsed when she got up, I scooped her up jumped in an Uber so I could hold her and ran to VEG. They were very quick and did many tests. Thankfully she's 100% better today! Thank God. They gave her fluids and gave her an anti nausea medication. They wanted to do much more after she was stable that would of been almopst $2000, but I paid $450 for the tests and EKG and fluids. Not bad and my baby is thank God herself again. Upon arrival Stanley was ushered in right away and seen by the "A" team. He was immediately examined and an IV was placed. I knew it was time.. Dr.Gonzales and his team made sure Stanley was comfortable, as well as I was during this heartbreaking event. We brought in our cat after she had swallowed a foreign object and had been vomiting profusely for a couple of hours. From the moment we arrived, everyone was welcoming, helpful, and attentive! Even with my cat being anxious (and somewhat aggressive after some time) we were treated with wonderful care. Dr. Michael Gonzalez is an outstanding veterinarian! He was knowledgeable, warm, thorough, and thoughtful. We really appreciated how he took the time to explain our options and eventually the procedure our cat needed. He also took the time to show us the X-ray scans and endoscopy results, and explained it to us in a digestible manner. He is truly the best veterinarian we have met! Alyssa was also wonderful as she assisted us throughout the 6+ hours we were there; she was very personable and compassionate. I am a longtime client of AERA but they were at capacity and couldn't see my pet. I was referred to VEG and was blown away by the stark difference in these two emergency hospital models. VEG is a far cry from the pristine, sterile and very new AERA in Fairfield, but what they lack in physical appearance, they more than make up for in compassion, warmth, and understanding. I had a long wait due to several critical cases ahead of me, but the staff made me so comfortable, allowed me to remain with my cat and even sat and talked to me for several minutes. The receptionist remained unflustered and 100% respectful even when the owners could be difficult. Veterinary care was excellent and the vet, Dr. Carly Pierson, was very thorough and thoughtful, when explaining test findings. I was there for five hours, but the experience could not have been better. read more

Our vet referred us here when our dog was having trouble breathing. They were so helpful and kind over the phone when we called in to see if she should come in. Once we got there, everyone jumped into action and quickly took our pup in to get checked out. They explained some potential causes and what we should do to monitor. Every single employee at this facility jumped into action the minute we walked through the door with our dog, Dax. I have never seen anything like it! Within minutes, they were putting an IV in and doing a sonogram to confirm what we believed was going on with our very critically ill dog. They were kind. They were honest. They were SO VERY compassionate. Dr Gonzalez, I personally thank you for your kindness, compassion, and honesty. Some veterinary facilities would take advantage of our despair and do unnecessary testing just to bolster the bill. This group did not do that. They kept our charges to a very reasonable amount considering the extreme situation. The only downside is that I can't make them my regular veterinary group for my other dogs. read more

I was so pleasantly surprised by this office, I brought my three year old shorkie in after she had a odd episode and dr.jacobs was so amazing. Considering with covid I wasn't able to go in I felt more than assured after she did blood work & X-rays to rule out any major issues. I was so happy to find this place open and accepting patients in New Year's Eve. I was so flustered when I brought her in, although we waited a little over an hour before she was seen, it was a best worst case situation that could have happened. They follow covid protocol, they text you all the forms & payment options, you call when you arrive snd they send someone to meet you at the door, no collar or leash go in with the pet. I took my cat here on 06/11/24 because she was severely constipated and hadn't been to the bathroom in days. I came in and was seen fairly quick. They assessed her and everything but here is where the nightmare began: They did a full panel blood works, xrays, gave her fluids and ultimatly did not tell me how much it would be until AFTER they did it. They sent me a text message with the price of over $1300! Only after they sent the invoice did doctor come in and speak to me. She then stated she would need to sedate her and give her an enema. The price shot up to $1796! They wanted to keep her overnight where they wanted to supposedly give her enemas all night for another $1700! I could not afford that and told them that so they THEN decided she is good to go home and that they decided she didn't need to stay anyway since her stool softened up. They told me she would be using the bathroom all night, I was relieved that they helped her. Well, that night she used the bathroom but not to the magnitude that they led me to believe. Matter of fact, the next day she still didn't use the bathroom or any day after that. I am back as square one with a sick cat and out of $1796. To add insult to injury I called them back the next day to let them know so was still not using the bathroom and was placed on hold so long I had to hang up because I was at work. No one bothered to call me back to check on her or anything. Stay clear of this place, I would never go back there ever again. read more

It's weird to write so glowingly about one of the most crushing moment of my life. ..having said that I have to express my gratitude to every staff member of VEG. Each person there knows their role and the place is run almost like a tight ship. As soon as we ran in with our baby, no long wait to fill out paperwork, they took her right away and no less than 7 people around her to help her breathe again...orders were given out by the doctor on duty and they were followed quickly. With compassion and kindness the Dr took time to explain our options and gave us plenty of time to think on them. When it came time to discuss our difficult and heartbreaking decision, we were led to a small room where we could sit with her for as long as we needed to say goodbye. My cat scratched my Pomeranian's eye and I brought her here to get it checked out. They took my dog very fast and the woman at the desk was professional. My dog Maggie got stung by a bee suddenly in the eye and I rushed her to this place because it was the only vet open at 6 o'clock on a Saturday night. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with respect and compassion. Jodi, the front desk receptionist, was lovely! Everything was super smooth right down to the check in process and actual examination. I was told it was going to be a 4 hour wait when I got there but I might have been there for a total of 30 minutes. They brought us right in and put Maggie in a room. Dr. Rubal Lobana was the Vet on call when we were there and her, as well as the other staff members along side her were so amazing with us. They knew my dogs liver enzymes were elevated when they did her blood work but still put her on an anti-inflammatory that specifically says not to prescribed if liver enzymes are elevated (I found this out after the fact). $550 there and now a dog that's pooping black stool and another $300 at a reputable Vet. If you're looking on here to decide if you should come to this location or not, here is your answer - YES. My experience is as follows. I called to learn you should call an hour before hand, they will send you a link to fill out your info/check in your pet. Then I headed over to this hospital an hour later to wait for our turn. They let us know the wait time was 3-5 hours. Which seems long of course.. But it's walk in only and like any emergency room, you wait your turn. It did end up taking just around 3 hours for our turn. The wait time definitely depends on the care they are giving to the animals before you. Everyone I spoke to even observed, was so nice and friendly. They all spoke so knowledgeable. The cost for the consultation with your pet is $149. Then obviously any additional care adds on. It was the worst time of my life spent six hours before I was even seen then they explain to me what they would do and how much it would be $577 later. I waited 45 minutes and they still didn't call me inside. I asked her what was going on. She said it was another emergency. This is the fifth emergency since I've been here. Our 7 months old puppy swallowed part of his rubber ball. We were devastated and called the Clifton, NJ sight as soon as he became sick. They took him in with the upmost special care and informed us immediately of our options. Once we knew surgery would be a saving grace for him, they scheduled it right away to remove the rubber in his intestines. They stayed in communication informing us of every step including his post op. The entire bill was explained and we were credited for services unused.
