Over this past month I've visited VEG Katy twice. The first time my dog was experiencing some acute lethargy and we were extremely concerned. At VEG we met with Dr Freeman who spoke with me over the phone en route and saw us almost immediately - unfortunately Max was diagnosed with a splenic tumor. Dr Freeman was extremely compassionate and explained everything to us including the risks and costs - she even explained that we would be able to view/stay with max throughout the surgery if he got surgery that night. We ended up getting surgery the next day at a wonderful vet they recommended. This past weekend unfortunately we had to visit VEG again. Max was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma prior, and despite a successful splendectomy he was suffering from cardiac tamponade and internal bleeding as a complication of his HSA. The team at VEG and Dr Sekar were extremely patient and gentle with us. Explaining every step of the process and allowing me to run every test so I felt comfortable in my decision. Unfortunately we didn't get to take max home that night, but I spent over seven hours in that room with the wonderful staff checking in, bringing us water and snacks and making sure Max was as comfortable as possible. I never felt rushed or pressured. You pay more but the experience is unique and above any other emergency vet. No other emergency vet will do the scans in the room with you and show you the images and explain what's happening and why. No other vet will bring you blankets, pillows and coffee as you spend the whole night by your pet. I would pay any amount of money to know I got the best care and was there by Max's side till the end, and I am glad I did. read more

My dog had an emergency situation where she was stung or bit by something in the backyard and was going into anaphylactic shock. She was nonresponsive to me and would not move. I brought her to the family vet which stabilized her and then sent her to this ER for overnight observation. When we walked in, the staff had already entered all the information for my pet from my family veterinarian that called before I got to the location. I went directly into the back, which is a large open area where there's multiple exam tables and multiple benches for families to sit on. The pets are kept in bed areas around the outside of the large open exam area. I was immediately met by a technician to take my information and then the doctor approached me about 5 to 10 minutes after that. We set up a plan and they started to treat the pet while I went and paid a deposit. The deposit was large $2000. But when they were finished with my pet after about 18 hours of observation only, I received a refund and had to pay about $1300 which is reasonable in the Houston area. I was contacted multiple times about the progress of my pet throughout the night. When I arrived in the morning, the pet was ready to go and we did not have any problems with her once we left. All of the medication was given to us and was described to us what to do for follow up care. excellent communication. It was nice to be able to see the pet the entire time and know what was going on. They were doing procedures on other pets while we were there and the owners were at the pets side. They do have operating rooms in the back where they do more complex surgeries. I would recommend this to anyone who is in the area. read more

I visited the new location off Katy Freeway on New Year's Day morning. Dr. Butts and the care team were extraordinary. I called when my dog was having a severe seizure and Dr. Butts was so calming and immediately assisted me. I brought Nala in; she was not in a great state, and the entire staff was so comforting and helpful. They were very transparent about the different options and the cost of each option. Unfortunately, I had to put my sweet girl down, but the entire staff was just incredible. Offered blankets and whatever they could to make sure it was a stress-free and comfortable process. I cannot recommend this place enough. I happened to google them when I was in distress and they were the first number that popped up and I truly think it was fate. I wanted to thank Dr. Panelli and her awesome staff for accommodating our farewell for our Beloved Rico. We could not find any place that would take care of our needs. Other than in home euthanasia, but they were booked days out. We couldn't wait a day longer and watch our Boy Rico suffer another day. Dr.Panelli and staff accommodated my family and I, including our other boy Gino to say goodbye to Rico. (Other place only allowed 1 person to be present) Vanessa was spoiling our boy with all kinds of goodies and chocolate. He was loving it. She even gave him her personal goodies (concha/ sweet bread). Sweets were his favorite, she hit the spot. They went over every detail of the euthanasia. Answered all of our questions. Made us feel a little more at ease. Although it was very hard for all of us. It still is. It was a ways from home, but they took EXCELLENT care of us and Our Rico. A week and a half later we received Rico's ashes. Very beautifully packaged. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I called so many locations when I was in need of urgent care for a stray kitten I found and they were all either rude or had an extremely long wait. The receptionist or whoever answered my I initial call was so kind and listened to my situation. When I got there I was greeted immediately by friendly faces up front. I was taken back immediately to a care station and the tech (Emily) started gathering info from me/examining the kitten. She was so kind and very knowledgeable. Another tech Dakota helped out as well and she was wonderful- she even recommended a rescue I could talk to about finding the kitten a home. Then Dr. Panelli greeted herself and discussed what options we had. She was kind, patient and listened to me. I was in a predicament because I'm not able to keep this kitten but it really needed care so they helped work with me on what I could afford to pay vs. what needed to be done to help make the kitten comfortable until I could get in to see my regular vet the next day. They communicated everything well and allowed me to be very involved in the kittens care. It definitely feels like the staff has a team mentality. They seem to work together so well and they clearly care deeply about their patients. This really didn't feel like your typical emergency vet, and I do believe it's because of their staff. Everyone was 10/10 in terms of customer service, pet care, attitude, and just being a good freaking human. Angels. All of them. If I'm in the unfortunate situation of needed emergency pet care I will 100% come back here. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVE PET HERE. This place will let your pet die if you don't have thousands of dollars on hand This place is all about money. It's terrible and allows my fur baby to die. Dr. Cisneros is an inexperienced vet with poor knowledge of health and unethical issues. Dr. Cisneros wanted to charge over $800 to run several tests on my fur baby, I told her that I only had $300 that night. So she did the lowest and poor tests on my dear fur baby. After a while, she came with a diagnosis that my pet symptoms were related to Marijuana ingested even though a drug test was conducted and it was negative. Dr. Cisneros didn't offer to keep my fur baby overnight to monitor his health issues just because I told her that I only had $300 that night if she would have keep my baby fur he will still be alive, bottom line it was my responsibility to bring with me the next day a credit card to pay whatever ridiculous amount it may costs to save my fur baby's life. I am pretty sure the veterinary emergency group wouldn't have discharged my fur baby until I paid whatever charges were incurred. That would have been my responsibilityand not Dr Cisneros. She neglected my fur baby, and 11 hours later, he was dead. read more

Had an absolutely stellar experience start to finish. My boy visited Friday for vomiting and not eating. He received fluids and x-ray and was sent home to monitor and return next day for follow up imaging. We brought him back before his follow up for intense drooling and lethargy, and we were immediately put on a treatment plan to have a foreign body removed after a foreign body was identified via x-ray. We were provided with invoices, ample time to discuss all of our options, and the ability to stay with our dog 24/7. The model of care is amazing and all owners are able to be with their pet at all times (besides in x-ray and sterile surgery environment). I cannot recommend the staff enough and would recommend any pet owner take their animals here! read more

This place is a dream when you're living a nightmare. If you're unsure wether you need to bring your pet in, you are able to call the clinic and speak with a vet over the phone to help assess if it is truly recommended to come on in. That is unheard of until now, we've all called an ER to ask and have gotten the "we aren't able to give any advice over the phone but if you want to come in we are open" answer. Vets, nurses and front desk were amazing! You'll never second guess anything in regards to assessment, care, treatment plans or what's happening behind closed doors because you are apart of the entire process! There are no closed doors! No handing your baby off to be carted away while you sit in the front so anxiously full of fear not knowing what is happening. You stay with your baby throughout examination, treatment and you can even watch surgery and x-rays. If your baby stays overnight you also have the option to SLEEP there with them!! They provide floor mattresses in a room for you and your pet!! My dog Hercules had an obstruction and I was in and out for an entire weekend. They all knew his name and were up-to-date on his progress no matter which vet/nurse was working at the random times I had to back in. Everyone that works there deeply cares about every single patient. These people are passionate about helping our babies. It was the most welcome I've ever felt at any animal ER. After my dog finally passed the obstruction after several treatments (I avoided surgery by a hair) with the help of the vet at 3 am, I was followed up with a phone call and text messages the following days to make sure he was doing well. I took my dog to VEG last night. The entire staff was excellent. My issue is that I believe they took advantage of me during a stressful time. My dog had a hurt paw. She couldn't bare weight. I knew she would need an X-ray or her paw, possibly the entire leg. I can also see them performing an X-ray of the opposite leg as a comparison. Well, they sent me an email today and there was a link to view the X-ray. They took an X-ray of her chest - AP & lateral, abdomen - AP & lateral, and pelvis, as well as both legs and paws. This isn't necessary for an injury contained to a paw. Plus the amount of radiation exposure. It was just unnecessary. If you don't want to be charged for unnecessary procedures, you might want to go somewhere else. I'll be taking my business to All Pets from now on. read more

My Veterinarian gave me information on VEG in case my seriously ill little dog needed urgent care after hours. I did need to take him to this facility late one Sunday night. Sadly he did not make it. I'm absolutely blown away by this place. The amount of care they provide is exceptional. I cannot say enough about the staff. We took our dog in on a Sunday and when we walked in they immediately started caring for us. We had to wait a bit but the staff checked in and we're attentive. They offered us snacks and drinks and kept us updated. We had to leave our dog overnight and called twice for an update but they were super busy. When we called, the staff was insanely kind and did not act annoyed like "we told you we'd call you". They understood we were nervous. To say these individuals go above and beyond is an understatement; they truly care for the animals they see and it shows. I wish human ERs were half this good. read more

I want to tell you if you EVER have an emergency pet situation no matter what time of day or night, THIS is the place to go hands down. This 4th of July 2023, my indoor outdoor cat was suddenly peeing blood. It was a holiday and in the evening so my choices were limited. I remember my sister took her elderly Yorkie there once before and had stellar care so I took my at there too. I called ahead so they knew what to expect with him when I got there. They were ready to get on him immediately and they did. They got the ultrasound of his abdomen and saw he had a lot of crystals in his bladder. We knew within 5 minutes what was wrong. They gave me the run down on what needed to be done and I gave the ok and they went to work right away to save his life. I can not thank them enough for their thorough care and knowledge of what they do there. I have unfortunately gone to other local animal hospitals and none measured up to these professionals. The way it is set up you can stay right next to your pet the whole time. From what I read you can even stay overnight if you so choose to. In the end Jinx stayed overnight got his treatment and I picked him up the next day with meds to keep treating him. He is home and happy now. I can't thank them enough for what they did to save my little Jinxie. read more

I brought my dog Roscoe home in a Marble box today. He died in my arms and I had him cremated. Words cannot express how sorry I am for having ever taken him to VEG Katy. You would think after they examined him twice they would be able to diagnose him. If you love your dog stay away from VEG Katy! Roscoe's first examination was performed by Dr. Romero. I brought my dog in because he had a cough. Dr. Romero treated him for a cough but he had no clue as to why he was coughing. Not only was he still coughing he started throwing up his food. After a couple of days of no improvement I called and spoke with Dr. Romero. He said give the meds a chance to work. After a couple of more days I called VEG Katy and spoke with Dr. Bertolini. I told her I would like to bring Roscoe in. I told her about his first visit and he still hadn't shown any signs of improvement. She said bring him on in. When I arrived I spoke to the vet tech that was assigned to us. I asked her if Roscoe might have been misdiagnosed? She went to go discuss the matter with Dr. Bertolini. Dr. Bertolini comes over to us in a huff and in a loud voice starts accusing me of being rude to her staff, rude to her on the phone and tells me I have no right to accuse them of a misdiagnosis. All of this took place in the midst of a room full of people and my poor dog Roscoe. Thinking about Roscoe I agreed to another examination. They performed more test and x-rays and came up with the same diagnosis. After and IV and more meds were administered I took him home. By the next morning Roscoe still hadn't shown any signs of improvement. I called around and made an appointment for Roscoe at Creekside Animal Hospital. That afternoon I took him to see Dr. Collier. She examined him and ran a blood chemistry on him. In less than an hour she was able to determine that his life was in jeopardy. From there I drove straight to Texas A&M Small Animal Emergency Room. The very next day they diagnosed Roscoe with cancer. Looking back I wasted valuable time at VEG Katy. It's hard to believe after two visits they couldn't figure out how sick my dog was. You would think they could run the same blood chemistry as Creekside did? My dog died on a Monday. He was supposed to start his cancer treatment on Tuesday. If you want to take your dog to a place like VEG Katy that is motivated by pure profit and has inexperienced doctors go ahead! Creekside and Texas A&M is a far better choice if you truly want what's best for your dog! read more

We brought our 11 year old terrier in an emergency from a dog attack. Everyone was quick, efficient and caring. They have modern equipment and easy access. While dealing with the trauma they were calm and reassuring. I hope to never need an emergency vet again, but if I do I would come here. This animal hospital is amazing. The site itself is very clean, with employees constantly sanitizing all surfaces and tools. The vet technicians are very friendly and will walk you through all the services they anticipate to perform, and give you itemized prices for every procedure, every step of the way. The doctor was also very friendly and took the time to sit with us and explain my puppy's diagnosis and plan of action. The doctor also made a great effort to answer all of our questions. Our golden retriever, Libby, became suddenly ill, vomiting and could not keep anything down last month, Sunday, Sept. 18. She was examined and I was happy that they saw her right away and every thing they did seemed professional and by the book and I knew what I would be spending for her treatment. They gave her Cerenia and I opted to take her home and make an appointment with our vet the next day should her symptoms not improve. She did seem better but Monday night I noticed she was not urinating. My husband and I took her to our vet (Kingsland Blvd. Vet), they ran blood work and it showed Libby was in kidney failure so they sent us back to VEG for IV fluids and I prayed for a miracle. VEG wasted no time getting a line in her and setting her up on a drip and we left her overnight. At 6:30 a.m. Wednesday I got a call from the vet on call. Things were grim. After 16 hours on fluids, Libby was still not producing urine and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go and do it there. I can't remember any names but the vet who helped Libby cross the rainbow bridge was wonderful. Before that, though, a tech came in to ask us how we wanted to proceed with her aftercare. At first, we said we did not want her ashes returned but I quickly changed my mind and said 'yes', we DO want her ashes returned. I said it more than once. She asked if we wanted the paw print too and we said yes. I asked her where these things will be delivered and she told me we'd pick them up there. Then I signed a box on her iPad. Never did I see what I signed for. All receipts are sent to your iPhone so it was a few days before I went over each and every charge. I noticed "general cremation" on the receipt and called VEG to question it. Sure enough, our Libby was put in a mass cremation, rather than what we asked for - a private cremation. The manager I talked to, Van - first or last name, I don't remember, was as cold as ice. No apology or offer to look into the matter and improve their procedure. Then I discovered a day later, they registered her as "Libby Johnson". That is not our last name. These were major mistakes in my opinion and just added to the grief and shock we were already dealing with. Because of this lack of attention to detail, It made us question Libby's treatment while she was in the hospital. I had to write this review to help me move forward and cope with Libby's untimely death. If we ever need an emergency vet, we will not go here because of the poor handling of her admittance (wrong name), lack of compassion from the manager and submitting wrong information for her aftercare. If you need to take your pet there and they go home healed, its probably fine. Just read everything, carefully because mistakes can be made. read more
