Later that night, my dog became very stiff and sore and limping slightly. I chalked this up to the altercation and that the adrenaline had worn off. The next morning she was better but i called to ask about getting her something mild for pain, and that's when I found out my dog had not actually been seen by a vet, I was told she would need to come back in for a veterinary exam before any medication could be prescribed. Looking back, I probably should have confirmed who was evaluating my dog (maybe i was told but forgot) and i should have asked more questions about pain management. Still, I was frustrated that a vet was not consulted before we left and that pain relief wasn't part of the standard care after something like this. Expecting me to bring my dog back again less than 24 hours later for something that felt pretty predictable was disappointing.

Our dog partially tore her CCL last November so we scheduled a consult with Dr. Przywara. Right from the start we knew we were in great hands. He did his initial observation of our dog and then came to talk to my husband and I. He was so kind and reassuring, and he was INCREDIBLY thorough. He sat with us for over 45 minutes explaining the anatomy of a canine knee, the injury our dog had, the options to fix it, and answering any and all questions we had. He never pressured us into anything and helped to give us the information we needed to make the right decision. Although we tried a few nonsurgical therapeutic options first, we ultimately decided to do TPLO surgery in February in an effort to get our girl back to 100%. Dr. Przywara did a fantastic job. He and his whole surgical team kept us informed and gave very good and detailed instructions for recovery. They made a tough recovery so much easier. Our girl is now 9 weeks post TPLO and is almost back to 100%! At the end of our final recheck appointment when thanking Dr. Przywara for all of his work with us and Kona, he said "this is why I got into this profession - to help good dogs and good people." And THAT tells you everything you need to know - he's the exact kind of vet you want taking care of your dog!

Our dog even has a favorite nail tech that she actually gets excited to see despite the fact that trimming her nails is her least fave part. This location was fully remodeled a few years ago and it is so nice. It feels like it's a large house! It's very clean and there are even mini partitions to keep your dogs separate from each other in the lobby. We trust this vet, and after moving away from Lombard, we had such a bad vet experience somewhere else that we feel that this is the best vet in the area and will continue on coming here, even if it comes with more of a drive for us.

She has a history of severe arthritis and we wanted to see what we can do to make her comfortable and prolong her quality of life. She is on medication for this but we wanted to see what else we could do. For the moment we got there we were greeted by an assistant and then by Dr. Anders. We did not have to wait at all. We felt very welcome. Dr. Anders was so amazing with Roxy. Roxy can be really shy and become grumbly,but with Dr. Anders she was not shy at all. She warmed up to her fairly quickly. You can tell Dr.Andres loves what she does by the way she treats us and Roxy. She was so patient with Roxy throughout the whole process. She was also able to do a thorough exam with without pushing Roxy and make her apprehensive. With this consultation, we learned a lot of information about Roxy's such as her favoring one leg over the other, indicating a potential imbalance or discomfort. At the end of it all we were able to set up some sessions for therapy for Roxy. And we got information on some at home therapy we can do. Im so glad we have another way to help Roxy! Unfortunately we had to make the humane decision a few days later to put her to sleep. Again, he came out and was so compassionate. Also, Dr. Sunni has kindly been intervening in our elderly dog's vet tech appts to express the dog's anal glands himself, while keeping the appt at the the cost of a vet tech appt, since the techs were having a lot of difficulty expressing him. And, he said, keep making appts with the techs when I'm on schedule, so I can do it, and let's see how we can add more things to his diet, to help him keep his glands clean. I love this organic approach to helping my elderly dog. We've added organic pumpkin and organic flax seed. We're already seeing his gland much less full. I really really really appreciate Dr. Sunni's kindness as it's difficult to know my dog has a collapsed trachea and hear him cry out repeatedly in pain, while the techs express his glands. Now, we're increasing the time between those appts. And, I don't hear those cries now. So, I have to say, go CARE Animal Hospital. I visited this Petco recently and was absolutely horrified by what I saw in the fish section. There…read morewere multiple dead fish sitting in cups on the shelves, bettas with their tails torn off or badly bitten, and water so dark or cloudy you couldn't even see the fish inside. These animals were clearly suffering and had been neglected for some time. I brought one of the suffering fish to the manager, explained what I had found, and asked if I could surrender the fish into my care so it wouldn't have to endure more. Instead of being met with concern or even basic professionalism, the manager seemed annoyed that I had interrupted him. He claimed he had "checked them this morning," which was clearly not true given the condition of the fish I showed him. He put the fish back on the shelf -- to still be sold. I'm honestly shaken by the lack of compassion and the complete disregard for these animals' welfare. I expected a pet store to have basic standards of care, and I certainly didn't expect to be treated poorly for trying to do the right thing. If you care about animals, please think twice before shopping here. I won't be returning.
