This restaurant has the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. I have tried several of their dishes and typically enjoy their food, but that definitely does not make up for the extreme attitude I was met with when I called to notify the restaurant that they had delivered the incorrect soup. I ordered the "Mixed Greens Noodle Soup," which, according to the menu, is supposed to come with snow peas, bean sprouts, broccoli and zucchini. Instead I got a soup with carrots, a ton of mushrooms, some imitation meat, baby corn, and a few pieces of broccoli and celery. The woman who answered the phone was so rude, I was shocked. She didn't even apologize for the mistake. I had to explain several times what was wrong with the soup and then she said I had to text her a picture of what I had received in order for her to confirm that it was the wrong soup. I asked her why that was necessary (typically when a restaurant messes up an order, I simply just return the incorrect item as proof that it was wrong--I've never had someone demand that I send them a picture of the food just so they would believe me), and she just insisted that I send her the picture. She then immediately said her cell phone number so quickly that I didn't have time to write it down. I asked her to wait until I grabbed a pen and paper and to slow down so that I could make sure I had the right number. Once again, she said it so quickly I hardly was able to jot it down. I told her I would text her the picture and then she hung up. I called back a few minutes later to see if she had received it and she was once again very rude. I asked how long it would take and tried to explain that if it was going to take a long time to get me the correct soup, I would rather just cancel my order because I already had waited over an hour. She cut me off and said "CAN YOU LISTEN TO ME?" At this point, I really could't believe how rude she was being. She told me it would take 15-20 minutes and then hung up again. 25 minutes later, the delivery man shows up with the new soup. I tried to give him the incorrect soup and he waved my hand away and glared at me. I asked him why he was glaring at me and he didn't answer and just left. The soup still was not what I had ordered. It didn't have any bean sprouts, had some broccoli and snow peas, but was mostly just carrots, mushrooms and baby corn. At this point, I was so frustrated and shocked that I contacted Grub Hub to let them know about my experience. Grub Hub called the restaurant and while I got a refund (which I did not ask for), they also have now banned me from ordering from them ever again simply because I spoke up about their horrible customer service. Seriously. When you get the wrong order, you should feel comfortable notifying the restaurant about the mistake and they should, at the very least, apologize and treat you with some respect. That is clearly not the case with Vegetarian Palate. I am extremely disappointed and will be making sure that my vegetarian friends and family no longer eat from this restaurant. read more

Totally not worth it for the price. My roommate and I ordered takeout from here; my roommate got imitation duck with a sauce that tasted like starchy sugar-water, and said it was not very good. I ordered 'crispy tofu' ($8), which didn't have a description but I assumed the menu on seamless was just not very detailed. What I got was eight pieces of completely unflavored tofu with their outsides fried. No sauce, no marinade, just the flavor of plain tofu, watery on the inside. The order didn't even include enough soy sauce to flavor all of it. (From the other reviews, it sounds like the only decent dish is the orange or mango imitation chicken/chicken nuggets.) read more

So I had been walking by this place for about a year now. I first heard of it from my god sister who raved about the food. But it is unassuming and not that inviting. You can't really see inside so you have no sense of how crowded (or empty) the place is. Anyway after getting my nails done and having about 4 other errands to run (jewelry to go with dress, caulk for the bathroom, etc [and yes I can do the caulking]) I needed some fuel. So I say let's go try this spot. What a pleasant surprise. Let's start of with my favorite: being greeted with a genuine smile; it's midday so I can sit wherever I want and there's a lunch special. Bingo! So I order the hot & sour soup, Eggplant with soy Chicken with brown rice. Never had hot & sour soup (yes I know) loved it!! Devoured the eggplant and chicken. Genrous portion, fresh tasting, light sauces, great aroma and all for $6.50. Who says we won't survive the economic crisis? I can't wait to go back. It's a bit of a trek from where I live but it's worth it and I'd call it the next great place for night out. So glad this place exist. I can eat healthy and dazzle my tastebuds. They have soy ice cream for the lactose intolerant. Oh and dozens of other vege dishes to try. read more

We usually get food delivered but have eaten in the restaurant before too. The restaurant itself is ok, pretty typical for a casual Chinese place. The staff here are super nice. My girlfriend was once sick and she mentioned this on the phone while placing a delivery. The delivery guy brought her chinese cold medicine and some tea bags. Probably has something to do with the obscene amount of money she's spent there, but still, that's sweet. The food there is ok, I've had dishes that are good, others not so good. The whole reason I was motivated to write this review is the wonderful crispy chicken nuggets!! There's a reason everyone talks about them. We always order a dinner size serving and graze on them for the next two days (they actually taste slightly better when eaten cold from the fridge). I've been a vegetarian for 10 years and I've never tasted anything so close to the actual meat-counterpart. I was so nervous in the beginning that the restaurant was taking part in a huge scam and actually serving chicken to vegetarians to guarantee return costumers. never went into the actual restaurant, but got delivery a bunch of times since it was one of the few restaurants that would deliver when I lived in the area. the orange chicken was really, really good. i did try to branch out and order other things, but the orange chicken was definitely the best out of everything i tried. my friend was a fan of the (deep fried) chicken nuggets which were also good but tended to sit heavy in the stomach. they have thai food on the menu, but stick to the chinese because it's way better. they also have tater tots on the menu which are soggy and full of salt, but still enjoyable. it's like being back in my elementary school cafeteria. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I ordered the vegetarian eel and I received old, soggy vegetables and a couple mushrooms with absolutely no veggie eel. I called the restaurant assuming it was a mistake, and not only did they tell me that the veggie eel was supposed to be the few mushrooms I received, but they were extremely rude and refuse to compensate me in any way. No protein, just nasty old soggy vegetables. Complete fraud. They refused to give me my money back, so I called Seamless, and apparently this restaurant doesn't accept refunds (worst customer service) so Seamless reimbursed me instead. What kind of restaurant doesn't take refunds? Any good restaurant does - If you take pride in your food and care about your customers you always do. Delicious amazing fake meat. I order from Seamlessweb all the time. Once I ordered something and they were out of the side dish that came with it, they called me immediately to offer me a replacement. They also delivered me some great dinner during one of the snowpacolypses when I didn't have any food left in my apt--definitely tipped heavily, with that weather, it was so worth it and I was super grateful they were able to make it. We have been going here for at least 8 years... My favorite is the mango chicken. We always order takeout but the food is ON POINT! The nuggets are also good. Terrific food. The hot and sour soup is especially to die for, but I'm yet to order an item on this menu and be disappointed. The service is fast and efficient - at least, I have always found it so in the 2-years I have patronized the place - and the menu extensive. The dining room isn't opulent or large, but it's new, clean, and comfortable, and besides, the food is the main attraction. Veggie Palate is my go-to spot for ordering in. It always seems to arrive quickly and is still piping hot. I particularly love the Udon noodle soup, the mango chicken, the veggie salad, the crispy nuggets, the salt and pepper chickn fingers, and the tofu with mixed vegetables. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT ANIMAL. Ok I am not vegan, vegetarian or any kind of "---arian" that does not eat meat. I am a carnivore and I like it. When was the last time that you saw a lion eating only grass. However, if either the lion or myself wanted a break from all that flesh, you would probably most likely find us at VEGETARIAN PALATE. I went here as an experiment and have been enjoying it ever since. If you are into the sweet and sour - try there mango chicken. Their ribs are to die for. The chicken, believe it or not, is my least favorite. As an appetizer, you cannot go wrong with either their sugarcane drumstick or their banana rolls. You could fool any of my fellow carnivores with their Peking Spare Ribs, It doesn't taste fake or highly processed. It's just right, Word of caution - go between 11am and 4pm if it is your first time. And be sure to let them know you are ordering from the lunch menu. It would save you some $$ just in case your lion instincts will not allow you to enjoy the "make believe meat" (usually taro or tofu). To say that I am a regular of this restaurant is the understatement of the year! I have not only built a bond with the food but also with the people who run it. Ron, the co-owner, and his staff are awesome! That being said, I have my favorites: Peking spareribs, mango chicken, spinach dumplings and for drinks, the red october w/extra ginger (fresh carrot, apple, ginger and beet juice: perfect anti-oxidant and cleansing drink). Been a customer for years, but you have to know what to order. Delivery and pick-up are super fast. Food is pretty consistent, most appetizers are pretty tasty although I don't enjoy any of the soups.
