I had not stepped into these doors since it was the old Krafty Draft & it still had the same feel. The new owner here used to own RF's and moved to this brick a mortar. I saw him immediately upon arriving and it didn't take long until he greeted our table. He is such a nice person. You can tell he really cares about his business and customers. I even saw some old signs and remnants of RF's on the walls, which was a nice touch. When we ordered our food, it took a long time to arrive to our table, but it was a pretty busy nice and there only appeared to be one server. Our appetizer, the buffalo chicken dip, was delivered with our meals, which was kind of a bummer because it would have been nice to have first during the long wait for our entrees. It tasted very good though! My friend ordered their prime rib special and was very disappointed with it. She said it was served lukewarm and lacked flavor. Come to find out, she took some home and when she heated it up the next day, it tasted very good. My husband spoke highly of his pimento cheese burger. He said it was very good. I really liked the flavor of my Butter Chicken entree, but it was also served lukewarm, which was disappointing. The small salad served with it was just lettuce and diced tomatoes, which leads me to believe it was more of a garnish, since it was so simple and there was no dressing or anything special to it.

Although I don't personally eat wings, this is my friends' and family's go-to place for the best wings in Columbia. I mainly get the mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, and fries, which are for the most part above average, although a little hit-or-miss. They have a great selection of beers, and their hand-made liquor drinks are always fresh and well-made. I have noticed however that their non-alcoholic beverages such as lemonade and soda are often watered down and not the greatest. All-in-all, Publick House is an above-average restaurant, and one that I would definitely recommend to others and will keep coming back to.

The house burger with fries has become our favorite. In fact we consider it the best hamburger in Columbia by far. Always cooked to perfection and served hot and fresh. More favorites are the ribeye and the prime rib. Also the fresh caught salmon. Oh, and the half rack (or full rack) of ribs and Hawaiian chicken. The waiters and waitresses are all outstanding. Our waitress tonight was Lydia and she is awesome. Very attentive and makes sure that the order comes out correct and served promptly. They have a brand new "A" rating on the door so obviously they keep it clean and are quick to make corrections. We have seen them slammed and quiet, but they always do a wonderful job cooking and serving their customers to make them happy. Highly recommend and will continue to enjoy one of our favorite go-to places for a great dinner.

I have no problem paying for a decent meal, however the Chophouse of Chapin needs to address the food quality. I would advise to go elsewhere for your dinner plans.

My friend and I went for the first time on 7-11-2026 because we heard it was new and the food was good. Upon entering, we were told that there would be a 30 min wait. We agreed, I put my name on the list and we went to sit down. Maybe3-4 minutes later, a family of 4 came in, put there name on the list and sat down. After about 10-15 minutes, the server (who was also at the hostess stand and told us that it will be a 30 min wait) went to the family of 4 and seated them at a booth. Noticing this, I walked to the hostess stand and asked one of the servers who was walking around if I could speak with a manager. Shortly afterwards, a young man came to the front. He never introduced himself but instead, just asked what the problem was. Before telling him I asked him 2 questions. My first question was were the booths on both sides of the restaurant the same size (on the opposite side of the restaurant, there was a couple sitting in a booth). He confirmed that they were the same size. I then proceeded to ask him did they accept reservations. He told me that they DO NOT accept reservations. With this information made available (because I wanted to make SURE that my concern was valid), I told him how the family of 4 that had been seated had come in AFTER us. He looked at the wait list and tried to tell me that the name on the list for a family of 4 was ahead of me (to provide additional context, the wait list contains the name for the party waiting to be seated as well as the time that the party arrived. My name and time was BEFORE the family that came in. I confirmed this as we were looking at the wait list TOGETHER). The manager then proceeds to say, "Well I wasn't up here" as if that much wasn't obvious. After expressing my disappointment with the service received, he offered a lackluster apology, "Well I'm sorry". I told him that I just wanted to bring it to his attention, informed him that he could remove us from the list because we were no longer interested in dining there, and we left. There has to be a better standard of service in this establishment and some of the staff could definitely benefit from some training in interpersonal relationships.

The meat was tender, juicy and smoky. It was served on top of a crispy cornbread cake studded with fresh corn kernels and fresh jalapeño. The field peas were very well seasoned, and although I didn't see any ham or bacon, I suspect they were seasoned with some sort of pork, but I could be wrong. I was also very pleased to find that they had a Chenin blanc wine on their list that night because it's one of my favorites white wines but really hard to find.
