I wish I had known about this membership prior to me paying $250 for a weekend call. But it was worth it to be cool again. Today someone came out for my maintenance call. Three months ago, I called to let them know I had already changed the indoor filters myself. I was just being courteous, thinking I was saving them time. Not once did they explain that the rooftop unit also needs a filter -- or that I had options depending on the system's static pressure and setup. That's basic info any professional should offer. What's worse, when I had a second opinion done by a trusted HVAC tech, he found a large tear in the ductwork -- something that likely had been there for years. This company had been called out before to check that very issue, and they failed to catch it. Why? Because they never performed a proper static pressure test or thorough inspection. They just show up, do the bare minimum, and leave -- but still charge full price every time. And in commercial service, they know most people won't question it. This kind of neglect doesn't just waste money -- it shortens your system's lifespan and increases your long-term repair costs. Be careful. Ask the hard questions. HVAC systems are complicated but they are also a big investment, and so I wanted to understand everything and Carlos R. patiently explained everything and answered all of my questions in a straightforward and honest manner (I had a small amount of AC knowledge and also looked up some things after the visit). It didn't make sense to repair it as so much of my system was obsolete, and so I ended up deciding to proceed with a new system. DeHart dropped off a portable AC for my bedroom so that I wasn't miserable during the heatwave over the weekend, and the DeHart crew came early on Monday am and installed everything while I was at work--they were careful with my house and I came home to a clean and air-conditioned house. Carlos R. came back a couple days later to close the loop and answered my questions on how to use the system, the warranty, the maintenance, the permit process, and the rebate. The whole process has been seamless, and the fact that Carlos and DeHart are clearly so detail-oriented gives me a lot of confidence in their long-term quality of service.

The estimate started off on the wrong foot when the salesman examined my existing unit and confidently told me it was installed 20 years ago. I replied it's 13 years old and he argued with me and told me I was wrong until I showed him how to read the serial number which clearly says it was manufactured the 6th week of 2013. I'd also contacted the city and gotten the permit details. So there was a credibility issue with this guy right off the bat. When his estimate came in nearly $6,000 above the next closest estimate and I told him that, he chose to argue without knowing anything about the other estimates, telling me those other competitors are using inferior equipment and installation standards. The installation must be inspected the city so how inferior can it be? He also felt it appropriate to repeatedly argue and tell me I'm incorrect about the actual value his system would add when I choose to sell the home. Telling me I will recoup the full amount spent on the system he's recommending when I sell my home is just incorrect for my particular home. And to argue wth me, the homeowner who's been here over a decade is just ridiculous. As if I haven't had conversations with a realtor about what does and doesn't add appropriate value to my particular home when it comes to selling. I even broke it down for him with actual examples of what does and doesn't make sense upgrading to sell the home and was told I'm wrong on that as well. He also felt the need to point out when I objected to the overall cost, that in his words, my father in law paid for a tankless water heater from Honey's. This is incorrect. That money came from me. I just happened to be out of town at the time my old water heater went out and it needed to be replaced. It was a weird thing to say, highly insulting, and had no bearing on the AC estimate. The salesman made sure to tell me he's been with Honey's for 25 years. If this is the type of person they hire and keep on their payroll for that long, that speaks a lot about the core values of Honey's and what they're all about. Overall based on this experience, I would never again have Honeys Air & Solar in my home for any reason nor would I recommend them to anyone. And anyone I know that's looking for services that Honey's offers, will hear about my experience. If I could give them less than one star, I would.
