I really don't even know where to start with this. Our AC has been down since we moved into our house a year and a half ago. We could not go another summer without it. We rent, so our landlord said he would send someone out today between 2-4. Around 2:45 Robert calls and says he's here. Perfect. He comes inside and from the beginning seems off, almost like he is erratic. I'm not going to throw accusations out there, but he was definitely up and jittery. So he asks my husband if any air blows out of the unit at all, hot or cold, and my husband says no, and I quickly corrected him and said, "No, hot air does blow out and the unit turns on." He looks at my husband and says, "Yeah, I'm going to need you to tell the truth and answer my questions and not waste my time." We were both kind of dumbfounded. He then goes to the thermostat and asks where it was. It has never been there since we have moved in. It was the front cover. He then accuses us of lying, and tells us we abused the unit. Why would we want to break our own AC unit? He then accuses us of lying about being the home owners and putting in the ticket. We gave him our landlords information and that's when he realizes he's been corresponding with him all day. While he is working on the thermostat, we are trying to stay out of his way. And take our kids outside. He is yelling for us around the house, literally yelling for us. Still accusing us of breaking the AC on purpose. He then texts my landlord and says we abused the unit. Then he comes out, and I told him we've never been able to use the AC. He then says, "Listen, I'm just telling you what I see. There are 10 other people out there today waiting for me to make them cold, I don't need to be here, and you saying it's hot and you have to have your AC working is not my problem. Get in line, everyone is hot." We were on the phone with our landlord at this point telling him what's going on and he was just upset that he was being rude. Then Robert and him talk, and he is equally as rude with my landlord, and told him he won't even tell him what's wrong unless my landlord pays him $250, not even knowing if he can fix it. My landlord tells him we are going to go with someone else, Robert comes in, tells us our landlord is going to use someone else, picks up his stuff, and slams our front door so hard it slams back open. I know this was a lot, but I can't even make it up. I have NEVER in my life, had an experience to this extent. It was crazy. I put a call in to the manager(?) and have yet to receive a call back, hoping to hear from him soon and will update. read more

I reminded them what they had text me the prior day and they answer with "I average 500 texts and calls everyday that was yesterday LOL" seriously LOL I don't find the humor on that specially in this hot weather no even an apology or at least a lame excuse that they over book. I can't possibly believe that there could be a bad review about this company! When my air conditioner quit working a week ago I called and spoke to Tony the owner who came out late that night as he fit me into his schedule I think due to the fact that he knew it was going to be hot and he could sense I was in a panic. That is when we found out that we have the Mercedes of air conditioners and that water had somehow got into the unit and shorted out the board that runs it. Tony advised us that it would take a few days to get a new one and it was probably going to be expensive and since we rent we should consider contacting our landlord. Due to certain circumstances we advised Tony that we would be paying for it ourselves and he then told us he would do what he could to help us since I also told him I am recently unemployed. Two days later he called me with a price but was VERY honest and said that if the unit needed freon or anything else it would cost more. Tony called and said he was sending his technicians out but it would be on Saturday. I panicked because I was for sure weekend work would be more but knowing 100 degree heat was coming I agreed. Robert and Mike showed up earlier than the scheduled start time(welcomed relief) and started to work. I tried to stay out of their way but had several questions and both of them took the time to answer them with Robert explaining everything the whole step of the way! You can only imagine the huge sigh I let out when I heard the air running! They then went out and services my coils and then Robert came in and told me that my unit was going to need 2 pounds of freon which meant more money. When they were done Robert was VERY honest and told me it only needed a pound. He could have easily told me NOTHING and let me assume they put in 2 pounds because how would I have known??? Robert came in the house to do the work order and he took the time to explain EVERYTHING to me about my unit as when the filter needs to be cleaned and when the next service call should be and he was patient and answered every question I asked and explained it to me in terms a person that doesn't know air conditioning would understand. Imagine also my surprise when I found out that the was no extra weekend charge because they were so busy that was the only time they could get me in!! This company is HONEST, FRIENDLY and RELIABLE! Would highly recommend! I noticed my AC stopped working on Monday night and called Tuesday morning around 930. I was able to get Mike out to my house the same day and he was able to diagnose/ fix my AC all within an hour with a swap out of parts and a refill of the Freon. I'd had two A/C techs drop by to diagnose my poor house cooling. I wanted to get one final, third opinion and so I checked Yelp and found Tony's American Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning. Tony lives up to all the previous claims. I called around 2:00 PM on a Monday and he was at my house at 3:30 PM. He ran all the appropriate diagnostics on my outside A/C unit and noted that the numbers looked good, with one being a bit high. He also noted that my air conditioner was sized too small, as did one of the other techs who came out to the house. Past that, Tony didn't find anything wrong on the outside of the house. On the inside, he found that our duct-work at the floor registers had large gaps, causing air to be pushed back into the crawl space. He recommended some fixes and went on his way without charging us a thing, since he didn't do anything. Great, stand up guy. Highly recommended. My furnace went out and we had been without heat and with a 2 month old a and a 3 year old we were in desperate need. We were told we needed a new unit 3000 near Christmas we were nervous. We had our HVAC installed 7 years ago by this company. The system was installed on our roof.. We had intermittent leak from our roof near the AC system and I had to pay a roofer and got it fixed. Recently, I am refinancing and the finance company recommended that I get a roof inspection. The roof inspector stated that the HVAC system was installed not up to code. I have been trying to get this fixed by American Comfort and they have come to my house a few times but until now it is still not fixed right. For the meantime, my refinance is on stalled until my AC is installed properly. Don't do the same mistake in what We did. This company is no good. They will jut get your money. read more

I found this company from a Google Search which took me to Yelp and the 6 reviews that are all 5 star. YA RIGHT! There was nothing 5 star about my conversations with him or the service I received. I placed the call in the morning, the VM I got was a girls voice and it just said leave a message. I was uncertain if I was even calling this business. It seemed a little sketchy but I left a message anyway. Tony called back in 5 minutes. I told him that I was looking for someone to go to my rental in Modesto and check out the unit. The fan outside was turning, but no cool air was coming out. I figured it may just need freon. Probably a simple job for him, but of course he was still going to get the $59 trip charge and the amount of the freon, and that might not have even been the problem. I told him I found him on Yelp. He told me he only had 3 calls for today and informed me he would call my tenant the same day and go out to the property by 6pm. I was hoping for an earlier appt but decided to give him the ok. He told me he doesn't use computers (in this day and age?), and said, "It is only me, myself, Jesus and this 4G phone" and that I would need to text him my name, my tenants name and address and phone # to call and set up appt. I even texted a little reminder info of what we spoke about, while it was fresh in his head and texted that my tenant is expecting his call. Within 2 minutes of my text, he sent me a text back asking "Who Is This?".... Right there I should have known, that I was dealing with an incompetent moron, but at this point he already had my tenants name and address. So I texted back yet again, who I was and that we just spoke 5 minutes ago on the phone. He texted back "Oh Ya, LOL". Seriously, what did I get myself into? I go on with my day, never hearing from him until 4:45pm, when I noticed a missed call on my cell from 4:15pm. I'm thinking "Great, I hope he wasn't calling from the property needing to talk to me or get my ok on moving forward with a part or cost etc." I call him back, and immediately, he says "Oh hi, I was calling because I had an opening, but now I filled it cause I didn't hear from you." I asked him, " What do you mean you filled it?" He stated the same thing again. I said, "I'm confused.... Did you call my tenant yet?" He said, "No, cause I didn't get your approval." I said to him, "You had my approval when I called this morning and set the appt, and you told me to text you the info and you would call her today. You even mentioned to me that you only had 3 calls and you would go there by 6pm." He raised his voice to me and yells "Do you know how many people I talk to in the day, you expect me to remember everything that is said?" Now I am dumbfounded!!!! I say to him,"At the point I called you, you said you only had 3 calls, I talked to you for 5 minutes on the phone, and within 1 minute I texted you all the inofrmation. How would you not remember our conversation? And why wouldn't you have called my tenant sometime today to get it scheduled, when you had her info?" He yells back "It's not my fault, You can't be mad at me, I didn't do anything wrong!" I said "You know what forget it, I will find someone else to help me!" Let this be a warning to all you new people looking for an AC/heating guy in the Modesto area. I advise you not to use this guy. He is unprofessional, and rude, and couldn't even handle the job of setting up an appt, so how is he supposed to tackle the job itself? And he went off the deep end yelling at his customer. He made me wait over 5 hrs to hear back from him, and never even called my tenant to set something up. I still don't get it.... I called numerous companies and everyone was scheduling a minimum of 2 weeks out. That doesn't work when it's over a hundred outside and 87 in your house. Tony and his wife were great!!! Our AC unit quit working on Friday, I called several local repair places besides American Comfort. All the rest couldn't get to me until Monday or later. All but Tony stated the same song and dance" it's probably your compressor, which is a major repair.". Tony quoted me only his service call fee of $59.00. Tony made an appointment for the next day, a Saturday and didn't up charge for a weekend call( other guys throw that fictitious charge in there). They showed up on time and went straight to work. After plugging in his diagnostic computer, he had an answer for me in about 1 mnute. The capacitor which controls the power to the compressor was bad. Tony replaced the part and my unit fired right up!!!!!!!! I thought all was good. It was here Tony noticed the numbers on his diagnostic computer showed the unit was not working properly. I thought here is where the sales pitch comes and my small bill just got huge!!!!!!! This is where Tony earned my trust and my future business!!!! He grabbed my water hose and began to clean and explain how and when I should be cleaning it. He spent a good ten minutes fine tuning my machine and then fired it back up. His simple solution fixed it and now it runs colder and produces better airflow!!!! Price of the part plus his service was all he charged me!!!!!
