But even after cleaning it out, the smell wasn't going away. Then the vent started giving off either smoke or steam, and in a panic I immediately turned off the dryer. Thank God I didn't start a dryer fire. The second I shut it off and made sure everything was ok, I opened Yelp and searched for a dryer vent cleaner. Chris's Insulation came up, he had great ratings, he was super close by, so after calling a different service and going to voicemail, I called Chris. Chris picked up after the second ring. When I told him that I needed someone to clean our dryer vent and what had happened, he said he could come out either between 5:00 and 6:00 pm that evening or the next day. It was already mid-afternoon when I called, so I was surprised to hear him say he could still come out same-day, but I decided to have him do that since I was free and also still a little shaky following what happened with the vent either smoking or steaming. Chris showed up during the window he quoted and wasted no time getting to work. He started the second he arrived and was done within the hour. His pricing was incredibly reasonable and fair and so far, in the couple of weeks since he was here, we've had no issues with the dryer. Before he left, he also sent us a ton of pictures of what the vent looked like post-cleaning. Super happy and relieved.

One of the best home service experiences we've ever had!…read more Our HOA hired a roofing company to replace our shake roof a year ago and the demo made a horrible mess that the roofers refused to clean up. In the back of my mind, I've been stressing that the sawdust and debris could be creating a fire hazard. We got an estimate from another company that shocked us and found Chris Insulation on Yelp for a comparison quote. He came out to our house (in Sac) the next morning, suited up and spent about 15 minutes getting pictures and measurements of the attic. The quote was nearly $3,000 less and he was able to do the job the very next day. The team came by the next morning while we were gone and removed all of the debris and old insulation, vacuumed/sanitized, rodent proofed and air sealed the entire attic, cleaned out our dryer vent (for free), and replaced all of the insulation, including around our skylights. There is zero evidence that their crew was even here - the garage is spotless and the attic looks amazing. I am so relieved that we found someone so fantastic and that our job is finally taken care of.

Hired twice, disappointed twice, had someone else finish the job twice…read more We bought a small, older home 4 years ago. The air conditioner went out on in the summer, 104 degrees outside. DeHart told us we needed a new unit, cost 15K. I decided to get a second opinion, the second opinion fixed our air conditioner for under $600.00, and it still works great to this day. It runs all day right now because I have no attic insulation at the moment. Which leads to my next story . The 2nd time we used them was few months ago. We paid $1,500.00 to have the attic cleaned and prepped for new insulation. Please refer to pictures for DeHart's finished product. What was left in the attic was Rat poison, old shingles, Rodent body, rusty nails, dirty insulation, Rodent poop, etc... I have called and emailed Dehart/Greenhart but have not had my calls returned. I had someone else finish cleaning the attic. I expected better quality. I do not want to invest into new insulation just to have it laid onto filth. I will be hiring someone else to reinstall insulation and clean my ducts. I also won't be calling them in the future when I DO need a new air conditioning unit and tank-less water heater.

When I called, I was treated very nicely on the phone and was able to schedule an appointment within 48 hours. Diagostic appointments are $89 during the week and $149 on Saturday. Our technician, Wes, was very professional, on time and easy to talk to. He came out and checked the unit (we needed a different fuse) and turned the unit on and got it running. I was very happy with the service from the ladies in the office to Wes our technician. Just a heads up, they have a monthly maintenance plan ($12.95 a month) that they will try and sell you. It includes an annual check of your A/C unit and of your heater. Any additional work or service calls are then 20% off. Just an FYI, if it is a good deal for you, then I would suggest getting it, if not, they will still service you. Thank you Honey's for making our experience a Sweet One!

The work was a two day process from cleaning out the existing insulation from the attic and adjusting the ductwork, to sanitizing and air sealing all the cracks inside and outside, and filling with R-49 insulation. From the entrance of the house to the attic access, they spent the time putting down a barrier to prevent any mess to the rest of the house. He was courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Ian is the owner of the company. From my experience with him in this short while , I've learned he is a family man with astounding integrity. Second, I did not contact this company Cal-View Property Inspections casually or without cause. I reached out because there were serious ongoing concerns in my home, involving exposed walls, abnormal air quality, and conditions that affected my family's health and safety. At the time, children were living in the home, and the wall area had remained exposed for an extended period. The inspection was not the cause of the problem. It was conducted because I needed answers about conditions that already existed inside the unit. The inspection helped confirm that mold concerns were present in the air and on surfaces within the home, including in my daughter's bedroom. After the inspection, I pursued code enforcement. That process resulted in multiple code violations being identified, and repairs were required. My family was displaced as a result of the condition of the home, not because of anything this company created. The statements suggesting improper motive or lack of professionalism do not reflect my experience. I hired this company because I needed an independent assessment, and from my experience they were professional, responsive, and helpful during an extremely stressful situation. This company did not create the conditions in my home. They documented them. I am grateful I contacted them.

I strongly recommend Essentra team (Brian, Hector, others) for their professionalism, responsiveness, price for your next HVAC project. Our 20+ year old HVAC system broke down during the holidays and I contacted 5 contractors (3 found through Yelp, one from Costco and one referral). I got quotes from four of them and one didn't show up in time. I had a great experience dealing with Essentra team from the proposal to completion of the project. Although they didn't have too many reviews in Yelp, I decided to give them a try because of their responsiveness. Their quote was a little higher than the lowest quote that got, however Brian's knowledge, professionalism and responsiveness impressed me and I decided with go with them. They also promised that 3 years of labor warranty is included with the install whereas other contractors typically cover 1-2 years of warranty on labor. They got the permits from Fremont city promptly and completed the project in time. Hector and Ivan really did a very good job installing the Furnace, Filtration system, Coil and A/C. They went extra mile to go into my crawl space and attic to ensure that the ducts are in good condition. Two of neighbors looked at the work and they were impressed with it and already contacted for their projects. So don't ignore him because they have only few reviews! Recently my parent's heating system went out. Contacted Essentra and initially spoke to Amber. I explained the issues with my parents' current system (heating system was not working). The whole system was over 30+ years old and it was determined a new system was the right avenue to pursue. Amber was outstanding in listening, understanding and sending someone out to take a look and share their findings with us. Hector (who I believe is the owner) responded and not only gave a very competitive offer, but was also super professional and again outstanding in explaining how they would replace the system, even explaining the minute details of what the job entailed and the thorough review of the process in how they were going to complete the task. My parents are in their 80's and with Amber and Hector's understanding of my parent's limitations, they made sure they understood how the process would go. Their professionalism and communication was nothing less than wonderful. They replaced the AC and Heating systems quickly and efficiently with no issues. I am extremely pleased with the work they performed. My first ever review. We have a 27 year old system that was put in when we bought our house. Never worked right!!! We've had 10+ contractors out over the years to look at it who have either tried to sell us a new system or told us that everything was fine (running a/c all day to get 80 degrees is NOT fine). We were referred to Hector at Essentra by our friend's contractor, and we are so pleased. Lucky enough to have him come out before the recent heat waves. Hector looked at our setup and pointed out several issues as well as steps to fix/improve performance. No high pressure to just replace 27 year old system...just thoroughly explained and quoted repairs. First repair before first heatwave...and what a difference it made. Second repair before this last heat weave, even better....and each day we are so thankful!!!! I was scheduled for my maintenance appointment and John discovered an issue with my split type air conditioner. John and I decided it would be best to replace my unit with an upgraded unit, that included a thermostat and had a longer warranty period. The following morning Jose came to remove the old unit and installed the new unit. He did a great job! While he was working Alex and Gio came by to see how everything was going. Alex put his number in my phone and told me if I had any issues or concerns he would help me with them. The following day Alex and Gio came back to take pictures. Gio checked the unit & made some adjustments. Alex called the office and handled some questions I had about the registration and credit for unused maintenance visit. Brian came to my house to diagnose why my heater was blowing cold air and to generally assess my system. Brian was on time, professional, clean and took the time to answer all my homeowner questions. His work was thorough, he cleaned out the insulation around the unit, and stayed to make sure the system was working correctly before he left. Brian took the time to discuss future projects for my heating/AC needs and gave me a ballpark estimate which will allow me to budget for the future. Had a problem with our air conditioner, working fine one day, wouldn't start the next. Called Essentra, they called back quickly and were able to send someone that afternoon. Rodney arrived earlier than expected. He was able to determine the cause of our problem, a bug caught in the switch contacts... I know, weird!! He took several photos of it to show me that was the problem. Rodney cleaned it out and checked the entire system to make sure it was right. He also made suggestions for other maintenance issues. We scheduled a maintenance visit and Rodney returned and completed the work efficiently. Rodney is friendly, professional and suggested additional services without being pushy. My furnace stopped working, which was not good as I have young kids and temps were in the 40s at night outside. Essentra technicians were able to juggle their schedules to get someone out basically the next day, which was a relief. Even better, once on site, they solved the problem and got things working again. Brian was very polite with a positive attitude, and was happy to explain his work and answer my questions. Essentra- No need to call anyone else. We needed to have seasonal service done to make sure everything was ready for winter use. Brian called 1 hour prior to appointment and was here promptly at my appointment time. He asked a few brief questions and went right to inspecting both units. He serviced our units and did a full cleaning and thankful that he did because he found a lot of insulation near the part where the flames comes out... I will only use Essentra from now on. Rodney is a real professional and knows what he is doing. He explained the system and what was going on, what componet and where it had failed and why it possibly failed. I recently discovered the rooftop unit had no filter installed inside it -- even though there's a dedicated slot for one. Three months ago, I called to let them know I had already changed the indoor filters myself. I was just being courteous, thinking I was saving them time. Not once did they explain that the rooftop unit also needs a filter -- or that I had options depending on the system's static pressure and setup. That's basic info any professional should offer. What's worse, when I had a second opinion done by a trusted HVAC tech, he found a large tear in the ductwork -- something that likely had been there for years. This company had been called out before to check that very issue, and they failed to catch it. Why? Because they never performed a proper static pressure test or thorough inspection. They just show up, do the bare minimum, and leave -- but still charge full price every time. And in commercial service, they know most people won't question it. This kind of neglect doesn't just waste money -- it shortens your system's lifespan and increases your long-term repair costs. Be careful. Ask the hard questions. Because unless you do, they won't...LOOK ELSEWHERE

The headlines this summer have been dominated by the heatwave. Records of long year's standing…read morehave been shattered only to be broken again within days. New terms have been heard on weather reports including "heat dome". Much has been said about human-influenced climate change. I don't know anything about either global climatology or local meteorology. I'm simply a disabled senior with a wife who is also disabled. Two seniors plus their pets (four dogs) in a house with a dead air conditioning system. It was making everyone totally miserable. The daytime heat was bad with little nighttime relief. We stuck it out for as long as we could. We reached the point where we couldn't take it anymore. We had to get the system repaired regardless of cost. It was time to utilize Yelp and find a heating and cooling system repair company that could come out. Of course finding such a company in the middle of the heatwave was not easy. Several companies gave us appointment estimates of over a month away. We were at our limit. Fortunately, I came across one company that indicated that they could send someone out in a couple of days. I don't know anything about the home's a/c system. There's a thermostat on the wall, a unit in the backyard and a "room" on the side of the house. I make changes on the thermostat, the unit turns on and in my mind cool air is supposed to fill the house with comfort. Beyond that I'm totally ignorant. Thankfully Mike, the technician that Yourk Heating and Air sent out was outstanding. I might be ignorant but Mike wasn't. After checking out the unit in the backyard he checked the controller and within minutes knew exactly what the issue was. I grew up in the backyard mechanic era. Cars were relatively simple to diagnose problems and with some exceptions easy to repair. As everyone knows those days are over. Everything is computer-controlled. Home heating and air are no different. Mike used his testing device to check out the controller's circuit board and determined that it had died and needed to be replaced. The board was ordered and immediately upon receipt Mike brought it out and within short order had it installed. He let me know that it would take up to five hours for the house to cool down. Folks, that was a long five hours! That night we got the best sleep we'd had in weeks. Being able to sleep through the night without being drenched with sweat was glorious. We woke that next morning fully rested. Thank you, Mike. Needing the services of a heating and air conditioning company is never good. When you, however, need one, you want the best. After all, why get a quick fix from a fly by night company only to have them return as they did not get it right the first time? That is why I very highly recommend Mike and Yourk Heating and Air Conditioning. I don't expect to need emergency service but when I want routine servicing I'll be calling Yourk and requesting Mke come on by. As a sidenote and you can interpret it as you wish, seeing on Mikes vehicle door the Sign of the Fish, was, for me, further sign that there would be a good outcome. Again, thank you, Mike.
