My eight-year-old son has been addicted to Venchi since we tried it in Italy years ago. So glad there's one so close to our home! Now we stop by all the time for a sweet treat and to buy gifts for friends. All of my three kids love it here, and the chocolate waterfall is always so inviting. The products are wonderful, but there is no customer service for the US e-commerce site. A recent order was so poorly packed that 2 jars of chocolate spread were broken in transit and covered the rest of the contents in the box. I have tried to make contact about the damaged shipment numerous times without success. The phone number listed on the site does not work and there is no response to emails or direct contact from their customer service page. I even sent someone who lives in NYC to try to help, however, the 861 Broadway store said they do not handle e-commerce problems. THE ABSOLUTE BEST PISTACHIO GELATO EVER!!! The flavor and color is pure pistachio, which is hard to find as pistachios are expensive and many places use pistachio flavoring or lime green coloring that's off putting. The flavor is so rich and perfect amount of sweetness. My other favorite flavors here are the CHOCOLATE (DROOL!!!) and HAZELNUT. Cappuccino is also another great one to add a little oomph from the more nutty flavors. I always get the take out box since I live nearby and you can choose 3 flavors, and let them know if you want more or less of any one of them. I always do 40% Pistachio, 25% Hazelnut, and 15% Chocolate, since my boyfriend doesn't like chocolate as much. Quite the science haha read more

Tried the gelato here last week and, while the ice cream was pretty tasty, I wasn't totally wowed by the flavors. I mean it was good, but not so memorable. But then, maybe my expectations would have been lower if it wasn't $20 for two regular cones. :) They do let you sample whatever you like so if you don't mind the price tag and are willing to hang around and try a lot of things, you'll probably have a good experience. A sweet spot for ice cream/gelato or coffee. I went here with a date on a cold day, so I opted for an Americano while my date got an ice cream. My Americano tasted great and was just what I needed, and my girl loved her ice cream (although I think the portion size could have been better). This place has a really nice ambience and design. They also have an okay amount of small tables, so it wasn't too hard to find seating. The staff was friendly and made our orders pretty quickly. I didn't remember any music playing (or maybe the volume was lower), so it's a good spot where you can hear someone talk. Overall a good spot to chat with a friend or bring a casual date. Had a regular scoop which included two scoops. Picked the stracciatella and the brutto ma buono, both were extremely good and light in chocolate flavor. The brutto ma buono tasted like a ferrero rocher chocolate balls. Tasted a friend's mango sorbet and it was also very good. Will def be coming back next time I'm in NYC! read more

In line to order, took the order of the people behind me and they told me I had to get back in line to order. I was waiting for over 5 minutes with no one at the counter. The gelato was ok and pricey. There was a long line. They will not give you samples unless you are buying. You pay for what you want first before ordering. Surprise surprise. My officemate recommended Venchi when I was in Milan. Since then, only a few places carry it here in New York and am so glad it finally opens a store here. The service was excellent. I wanted to buy the cute tin book with all 75 percent caviar chocolate. The staff instantly made the switch. Very efficient. Besides the various sizes and styles of gift wraps/ packages, it also serves crepe with hazelnut dark chocolate spread. I also tried their hot chocolate, which is so rich and perfect for the winter. There is also some prepackaged gift sets so this place is good if you are looking for a chocolate gift. Ugh, place is tiny, so forget about seating. The seating is really odd, like a long narrow triangle, so you can't get to the table at the tip without edging past strangers' knees. We were a group of four people, and had to stand awkwardly in the middle of the display area to eat our crepes. I ended up holding the plate while my husband cut into it. Plus they messed up our order and didn't realize that we were waiting for two crepes. They had to ask us again what we ordered, and if we had already paid. So basically, we could've not paid for anything and asked for the most expensive items on the menu. It took probably 20 minutes before everyone had everything (2 crepes and 1 hot chocolate). Extra star because it tasted good, but I'd rather go check out Max Brenner or the Nutella Cafe and actually be able to eat comfortably. Side note: no restrooms available. read more

To be honest, there's no reason for me to keep coming here. The store is always crowded, the chocolate is overpriced, and I always leave feeling slightly unfulfilled. Venchi's appearance is something that draws attention from the side of street, and pulls you in closer. The chocolate falls on the inside intice you in further. Eventually when you top staring and go to order, everything on the menu looks amazing. The gelato , admittedly is great. I have absolutely no issue with the gelato. The issue , for me , was the drinks. This is a strange thing so bear with me to describe it. The drinks , whether you get a chocolate coffee, or god help you, the hot chocolate, are too much to handle. I do not mean this in a positive way. From my experience, I hot the hot chocolate and It looked like the best hot chocolate I've ever seen. That all changed when I tried to drink it. First off, it wasn't a liquid . It was a sludge , almost like a thick pudding, which of course can be quite a shock if you didn't expect that. The taste however, is what bothered me. It was too much chocolate. Like in a ratio , it would be 98% chocolate and 2% milk . Trust me if you've not expecting and lusting for that much chocolate, it will be a harrowing experience. Italian gelato is usually only a few dollars so I can't say that paying $7 for a small cone of half decent gelato is worth it. You're paying for the atmosphere and while it is really nice, customer service there was awful. Employees look and sound miserable. Specifically Caroline gave me an attitude as soon as I walked in the door. I was putting my mask ON at the doorway before coming in and she barked from across the counter that I can't come in without a mask. It's not hard to ask politely or give me more than half a second before I get snapped at with an attitude. Don't work in customer service if you can't be a decent human being. read more
