Venchi remains a 5 star review in my books. As a chocolate lover, I absolutely love coming here for the gelato, the aesthetics, the chocolate.. everything. If you're buying chocolate, milk baciodidama is my favorite. It has a small crunchy layer at the bottom that I looooooveeeeeee. Also don't sleep on the hazelnut spread - a must if you love nutella!!! I've been to several of these around the world and this location seems to be the largest and the nicest I've been to worldwide. The staff were nice and attentive and the quantity and quality are great. They'll let you sample before you commit to your flavors. In my case I choose three but only sampled one. I highly recommend you get the cone with dark chocolate and roasted or candied hazelnut. It's great. You can't be disappointed especially if you're a chocoholic like me. I am partial to the store in Union Square as I can gaze at the flowing wall of chocolate while savoring each spoonful of gelato. Recently I had signed up for the loyalty program and became a V-Club member. So it was a pleasant surprise to receive an email asking me to drop in to have a free cone. This was to try the new Laudemio Olive Oil Gelato. Free? I was ready and went last Friday. Santiago helped me get a small cone brushed inside with an olive oil chocolate spread. Then I was given a choice of either pistachio or hazelnut but I told him that I preferred cremino and got that. On top of that cone, the special olive oil gelato was balanced and topped with a dark chocolate disc. I was in seventh heaven with each lick. This was truly luscious and the chocolate spread inside had pooled into the bottom of the cone making it more like a melted chocolate biscuit as a last bite. Whenever I go I get a small cone with one flavor as it's affordable. I often think but have never got one with the works but one day I will splurge. It certainly pays to join the V-Club. For the gelato, you pay at the counter by the entrance before you see or pick your flavors. The service was quick, and the portion size was large but it was also expensive. I got the strawberry and the orange passion fruit. Both flavors were distinct and the texture was smooth and light. I have been meaning to try this iconic gelato place since maybe last year. They have several locations in NYC but the Flatiron one (just across of Union square) is the most popular. The lines outside were long but moved fast. We got the Pistachio gelato (one of our favorite flavors) and believe me when I tell you it tastes as creamy as it looks. I can totally see it melting very quickly if eaten outside when it is hot. They had several crepes and drinks on the menu as well, which I plan to try during my next trip. Friends and I went after dinner around 8:30 and it was not crowded at all. Staff were nice and organized. We paid for our sizes while standing in line so once we got to the counter we could try/order our gelato. I decided to splurge with the chocolate and hazelnut inside the cup- SO YUMMY!! Venchi has an insane array of vegan chocolates, including one of my favorites, gianduja (at least three varieties), all of it clearly marked with the happy V. Head to the wall, my friends. An entire wall of chocolates that you can individually pick for a gift box or a bag so you can gorge later. My husband became kind of obsessed with their gelato on past trips to Italy and I had no idea they have been in NYC for years. I came to the union square location on a Thursday night and luckily didn't have an issue. The gelato was good, but I will admit that I think there are better gelato spots (like Anita's). I did like the union square location though a lot because there was a ton of seating available both in and outdoors! We were a group of 10 people and they were very quick in getting our orders! Zero value for money. I get it, it's New York City. Its 2022. Interest rates and inflation are through the roof but that does not mean it's ok to rip your customers off. It's gelato for crying out loud! It's not supposed to hurt but this one did! I got a small scoop of their 75% dark chocolate gelato on a cone. And I was shocked with how little was scooped up. And for $7 with tax no less! I thought she would go down for a second scoop but no. She stopped after the first scoop, completely oblivious to my wide eyes that said "that's it?!" And the scooping is a painful process to watch. They scooped it like was semi hardened cement. Once they had a decent amount on the scoop spoon, they would scrape it off on the sides of the tray and start all over. I watched them do that at least 5 times until they had a teensy amount. Then begins the fight to get it to sit on the cone. The gelato would fall off the cone every time they would try to get it off the scoop spoon to land on the cone. Even the gelato knew it was being coerced into daylight robbing a gullible customer and it wanted no part of it. The 75% dark chocolate gelato tasted rich and great. I need to mention that I've had the gelato at the Venchi in Milan and my experience was nothing like this. I won't be hitting Venchi to satisfy my gelato craving again. The two stars are for the hazelnut egg she offered to top off my gelato. Probably as an afterthought after the incredulous look I shot her. read more

We actually received the Recipes, but the cashier told us after we got the Icecream.... We randomly ran into this store while walking from Union Square towards Flat Iron. Inside the store, it's just sugar-vibes all around the place - walls full of chocolate bars and toffees and customers buzzing around the ice cream and gelato counters.
