Venice bakery is a hidden gem. The cheese croissants are just perfectly made. The lemon cake is incredibly delicious. the bread is always fresh and affordable. The service is fast which I love . This is an "Old School" Italian Bakery. Their Semolina Bread is 5 stars. Their pastries are in the 3 star range. So overall the rating is 4 stars, because their semolina loaves are the best. That is what I get when I go there and I am about 20 minutes away. read more

Not sure what's with the bad reviews but they're not recent anyway. I've been coming here for years, this by far the best Italian bakery you'll encounter. Everything I've had here is amazing, the bread, the pastries, the cookies. The best cheesecake ever. Everything. My out of town family always requests I stop here here when I visit. I have to edit my original review. I have bought this cake many times before. It became a tradition for each holiday. My husband recently purchased it for my birthday. It had an awful taste and texture. It didnt even taste like pistachio. No flavor and it had a rubber texture to it. So I decided to call and see if something changed or maybe I bought a old cake. Well apparently the ingredients are no longer purchased from original vendor. The Baker said people love the cake so they want to continue to make it. I told them its gross. I think they want to continue to make the money off the popular cake and dont care how it taste. Sad cause I was a big fan First time going to this bakery being that I'm new to the area. So back in the day this place made decent cakes. My sister for example bought a party cake for over 50 people. It had a connoli filling and everyone loved it. So, when one day I was asked to bring a graduation cake for a party i ordered the same cake. However, it tasted differently, cheaply made like from any grocery store. I figured maybe i ordered the wrong one and asked my sister exactly what was the cake she ordered. Next time i was asked to bring an anniversary cake i ordered the connoli filling cake again. It tasted cheap again. The connoli filling was mixed with something else. It tasted like a cake from BJs or shoprite, or even worse. The only HUGE difference was the price. Now on top of that, when i arrived to the bakery i saw my cake for 50 people sitting in the fridge without a box. I was asked if i want to take it without a box because they do not have a box that would fit the cake. This cake was a size they offered so hows there no box? Finally, they put two boxes together to make one big box out of them and put my $91 cake in that taped all over box. It looked horrible. I was embarrassed to bring that cake into that party. It looked gross and tasted the same. So long story short- cakes have gotten much worse. Won't ever buy again. read more

I went to this bakery and the one that I usually go to was closed. I wanted to send Italian cookies to my father for his birthday, however the butter cookies that I purchased are not worth giving anyone... never the less for a birthday. The cookies were hard... butter cookies are not suppose to be hard! Additionally, when I asked the young girl to tell me the name of a cookie that I was not familiar with... she first told me Pignoli, then walnut and then hazelnut..... which is terrible.... how can you sell cookies if the sales girl does not even know what it was? This place is amazing. I used to live blocks away and smell the fresh bread baking. Luckily, we still go to visit my inlaws who are even closer. Their bread is absolutely fantastic. You have to eat it fresh the same day. You will never have any better bread. If you wait a day, you have the bread you can buy in stores. So eat it the same day, not that you could even stop yourself from it. They also have a good variety of breads to choose from. Their desserts are also great. they have italian cookies and pasteries & cakes. It's a tiny little store but they have a lot of good stuff. They people that work there are so nice and friendly. The pastries are so delicious. The bread is so good. They give you fresh hot bread right out of the oven upon request too. This place is awesome. Doesn't even deserve one star. For starters they tell you their pastries are freshly made and you get them home to find they are stale. Inconsistent when handling food - Not everyone wears gloves, hairnets. They have food for purchase like pizza and rice balls sitting on the counter with no enclosure or protection. I called to complain about the pastries being stale and gross. Was not offered anything, the apology was more the girl sounding annoyed that i called to complain. They offered no refund. Walked in to buy some pastries. Noticed some girls that were behind the counter were not using gloves. They would just take bread rolls off the shelf, put it in a bag, then take cash/credit cards/whatever and then immediately move to the next customer, packing their bread with dirty hands. Will never go there again. Ordered 20lbs.of bread dough on Monday to be picked up on Wednesday around 10:30, got there at 10:45 and had to wait until 11:15. Had paid for the dough on Monday, so to me NO EXCUSE for not having it when I showed up. Cashier very rude. When I got home and opened up the bags.....they all had some kind of weird things in each package. Looked like dirt, mold, insects or what ever. Would not feed that to my dog, never mind my family.
