This place has mixed reviews, so I'm going to post about my own experience. It was great. The food was really good, not extraordinary but still really good. Keep in mind there's nothing fancy about this place, and the prices may seem high but you're in Venice tourist area so everything is inflated. It takes awhile to get your order but we were told ahead of time of this because they make everything on the spot. The older gentleman was extremely nice and friendly. Another server was very young and shy (not rude) but still attentive so Our service was also on point, being checked on every few minutes. If I'm ever in the area I'm definitely going back. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the environment, they made us feel so welcome and the food was good. read more

Absolutely delicious Italian food! Upon arrival we we're charmly welcomed by the owner and ushered to our table where the new hostess made us feel most comfortable almost immediately bringing their delicious side of warm bread and garlic Olive oil with red pepper flakes. I've been to many Italian restaurants but I must say that there's was the best. My wife and I decided to go traditional and ordered the spaghetti and meatballs for me and the chicken alfredo with fettuccine pasta for my wife. Their service was prompt and we were served with a warm smile quite honestly, the best Italian food that either of us have ever had! We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Wow, I absolutely LOVED my patio dinner last night at Venice Cucina. After a long bike ride, my friends and I were looking for a spot off the boardwalk to pull off and get some pizza. And we were blown away by our random discovery! We ordered the Gorgonzola and California pizza. Both were phenomenal. Also started off with a Caesar salad, which was a HUGE portion for a great price. But the best part of the night was by far our server, Alex. She was incredible! Attentive, informative with all the dishes, and had such a positive energy that is impossible to describe in words. DELICIOUS! We went to Venice Cucina for the first time today and got amazing service. The pasta was delicious - both the fettuccine alfredo and the pennette alla vodka. The garlic bread is a must as well! We were thinking of skipping out on it because of the price, but once we tasted it we realized it was worth the price and that we must get it every time now. Stopped here for lunch with my two sons after surfing. We were so glad they were open and that they were practicing safe social distancing with their cute patio tables outside. I don't write too many reviews here but I had to pop on and say that this was THE BEST PIZZA I've ever had in my life! So fresh and yummy we were all so happy. Tried the Salsiccia Pizza, while my girl tried the Fettuccine Alfredo. We absolutely loved it. The pizzas sauce and toppings were very flavorful, and the bread was thin but not too thin. It was the right amount to give it a small crunch while being soft on the inside. I would definitely reorder that pizza again. The Fettuccine Alfredo sauce wasn't too heavy and very flavorful too. On top of that, we sat outside and enjoyed the light evening breeze. They offer a cork service, I'll definitely bring a bottle or two the next time we are in the area. read more

He took time for the food but we were not in hurry and food were awesome. I ordered soup that I didn't remember the name and I have never tried before. It tasted really good. My husband and I decided to try this place because it looked so welcoming and we were not disappointed. As soon as we walked up we were greeted and sat down. The food was fresh and tasted amazing! Great size portions and great service. Whomever decides to have patio service or take-away will absolutely love whatever you order. SO RUDE. This owner owns two separate businesses - an Italian restaurant attached to an ice cream parlor. I came in to order ice cream and a water bottle and asked for the restroom and the owner (WHO OWNS BOTH BUSINESSES) told me that I cannot use the restroom because it's for customers who eat at the restaurant only... wth I cancelled my order of ice cream after that. Beautiful quaint little restaurant, at first impression I was really impressed & looking forward to our dinning experience. Quickly came the disappointment. We were seated (party of 2) & gave our drink orders of waters. 15 minutes later the waitress comes back questioning our drink order, has it all wrong. We correct her waters only. Approximately 10 minutes later comes our water & complimentary bruschetta. We placed our orders at this time. We got our dinners in a quick timely manner. I was not impressed with my order of chicken fettuccine alfredo. Very very bland meal. We were never checked on throughout our whole meal & had to go up & ask for our check. At reviewing my check I was charged a fee of $9.98 of an item illegible so I questioned the charge since we had no beverages. Long story short of ignorance & rudeness is "all of LA charges this fee of a tip" Unfortunately their service does NOT match the beautiful atmosphere of the restaurant read more

Stopped here for lunch my first time in Venice Beach - the staff was incredibly friendly, gave my family a complimentary app since it was our first time visiting, and the food was all incredible! I came here for a girls night out. My friend texted me that it was BYOB which was nice because you save a lot that way and you can bring your own favorite vintage. The atmosphere is quaint but also very relaxing and fun for people watching. The patio was very comfortable on a summer night. The service was great. The owner Sacha really treated us like family. The food was really delicious and portions were just right. All had a homemade flavor. They serve a delicious garlic oil for the crusty and soft bread. We had the eggplant with prosciutto and salad with capers to start. Both were on point, delicious. The dressing for the salad was light and flavorful. For our main entrees we shared the shrimp scampi pasta (YUM) and the linguini with pesto chicken. Both were not too heavy but full of flavor and creamy. There were so many other dishes I want to try. For dessert we tried the tiramisu and cannoli. I loved the tiramisu the most. I wish it was a Friday night so that I could have some espresso. Overall, the food is a solid 5, the atmosphere is so Venice, laid back and relaxing. I will definitely be back with a nice bottle of red wine. read more

Hidden gem in plain sight! This was THE BEST Italian meal we have had in LA. The salad was HUGE, the thin and crispy pizza baked to perfection, and the pasta with meatballs excellent. Service was outstanding with super friendly owners who are obviously proud of their restaurant and food. Bad for groups. Crochety owner. Possibly homophobic. Called ahead to see if this would be a good meetup spot for appetizers before the Abbot Kinney festival. Owner seemed nice so I told my friends (about 20 of us) to meet there with wine and to bring our own glasses. This place holds about 80 people and it was almost empty - one other table was wrapping up. We ordered a bunch of pizzas and appetizers. Owner was really weird. He hovered over us with a scowl -- we were all polite, no one was loud or drunk. We didn't even ask for water. He had forgotten to bring one of our pizzas so I went inside to follow up. Turns out he was UPSET we weren't spending $20 per person on food. Again, this was 2:30 p.m. - after lunchtime. He said we filled up the patio and no one wanted to eat there. I pointed to 5 empty tables around us and told him everyone was at the Abbot Kinney Festival -- If anything we were giving him business on a slow day. He announced that there would be a fee per bottle. Past Yelp customers said "BYOB with no corkage fee." So... WTF. My friends (all live nearby and are cool and polite -- I mean they brought their own GLASSES - but mostly queer, IDK if that was an issue) kept asking me what his problem was as he hovered over us and just stared every 15 minutes. We were there a little over an hour and felt like we were about to get grounded the whole time. After privately debating with him inside, I paid the fees (we only drank 4 bottles) and tipped him for his trouble. Then he said PLEASE DON'T EVER COME BACK. I guess everyone has a bad day, but he was awful. The pizzas were fine. read more

From the outside you can't tell but the ambiance inside is wonderful! A must have is the Calamari Fritti, it was not gummy or greasy tasting, it was very crispy and light. Another dish I loved was the Caprese Della Cucina, which was very fresh. The portions are very large, especially the appetizers. Also don't skip out on the gelato! The portions are huge and very good! After you eat don't forget to explore Venice Beach because the restaurant is right next to the beach :). read more

COULD be a great place - but it isn't yet. I've given this place two chances. The first time was for an evening meal. The food was OK - but nothing to write home about. You get more for your $$ at CNO than here. I thought from the two previous Yelp comments the owner may go out of his way to make it a great experience. Nope. On my second chance, everything went horribly wrong. I met a group of friends to try the breakfast menu on a Saturday morning around 11:30am. One of my friends (African American) went inside and tried to use the bathroom - the owner was very rude and said he had to be a customer. My friend said he IS a customer. Owner relented - but never appologised. This started the whole meal off with a bad taste in the air. Then it took 45 minutes to get our food. The server never refilled our drinks during this entire time. Luckily we were all local and having a lazy beach day - but way too long to wait. After that long a wait, we found out they got one order wrong. Two of us ordered sandwiches which should have had pesto, but didn't. Being polite we asked for extra sides of pesto - the owner got irritable about and didn't want to do it until we de-constructed our sandwiches and showed him it was missing. Also, one of the meals was supposed to come with a salad and it didn't arrive. After this was pointed out, the owner said he would bring it right away. It didn't come until everyone had finished eating. After all the mistakes - the most basic of customer service rules was never applied. The owner NEVER said sorry. He grumbled and brought what was required - but didn't go out of his way to make good or make us want to return again. I try extremely hard to support local and family run businesses. However, this place has got to increase the service levels, and the quality/quantity for the price. I used to love SAT/SUN brunch at Benice Cafe - but it closed. I had hoped this would be my new place - but I'm still looking. If anyone has any other good suggestions in the Venice area I'd love to hear them! read more
