Casa 12 is kind of a trip for me. It is in the middle of super casual bars and restaurants, yet its menu and prices are of the higher quality. The vibes are extremely casual on the inside and I felt overdressed! It is a smaller and more intimate setting with small tables and lots of conversation and laughter. The staff are also very friendly, welcoming, and casual. They talk a lot with each other and their guests. It's like you're eating at a friend's house with how close everyone is with one another. Finally the food. The Caesar salad was extra fishy- it even came with whole anchovies on top! It was not my favorite since I prefer a more subtle anchovies taste in the dressing. The prosciutto and burrata were tasty and refreshing. Their rosemary(?) bread was fluffy and flavorful. The green fettuccine was rich in flavor and very filling. The star of the night for me was their Vodka pasta dish with prosciutto. They said it was a special, so I'm not sure how often they have it. All I can say is I was blown away by how rich the sauce was. The pasta is their biggest selling point- nice, Al dente, and fresh! For the desserts we tried the tiramisu and panna cotta. The tiramisu was nice and light. I personally wish there was more mascarpone, but I am a mascarpone fiend so I'm sure most people would consider it enough! The staff were kind enough to give us a complimentary panna cotta for our anniversary dinner. It was refreshing and subtle. I have never had panna cotta before, so I don't have a reference to which I can compare it. Overall 5/5. I won't sugar coat it. Yes the prices can feel high, but the context is you're right next to the beach, so it's understandable. (I always note the price tag for restaurants because I myself have to plan/save for nicer dinners. I included the bill for reference.) Keep that in mind when you are choosing to dine here. I will say though, I avoid beach side restaurants because they are usually over priced and mid tier. I can confidently say that Casa 12 brings the flavor and a pleasant, homelike break from the sandy beach. I think they are my #1 for pasta flavors. After dining at the Casa 12, we decided to order take-out dinner tonight. Placing the order by phone seemed easy enough. For dinner we had: Portobello Funghi (3/5) -- Nicely sautéed large portobello mushrooms (sliced) served over a gorgonzola fondue and topped with soggy sautèed arugula and small piece of shaved parmesan. ($20) Veal Ossobuco Ravioli (3/5) -- House-made ravioli stuffed with ossobuco, served over a bed of gorgonzola fondue, topped with basil. ($36) I was disappointed that they substituted it for the Vitello Ai Funghi that I ordered. And the gorgonzola fondues had solidified by the time I got them home (6 minutes away). I dined at Casa 12 Friday evening (8.21) and had my usuals which is the Caesar Salad with Chicken, and the Fusilli Funghi along with an Iced Tea and some bread. I thought the portions were actually smaller then usual, but delicious just the same. I sit at the bar and Marlise does a great job of juggling drinks and serving us orders at the bar. She is a welcomed addition to a very good staff. It was somewhat slow on this beautiful summer evening, but always festive and fun. The total bill with tax was $69.14 and a $15 Cash Tip for excellent service. Casa 12 is located at 12 Washington Blvd in the Marina where it meets with Venice. It is part of the Washington Square dining community that includes Mercedes Grill, The Whaler, Nalu Vida and Washington Square Pizza including Fat Sal's. Unfortunately two businesses recently closed which was the Indian Restaurant and the grocery store. Hopefully, those spaces will have new tenants and bounce back. I went to Casa 12, an Italian spot just steps from the beach, last summer--sorry for the late review, I post when I remember. The night I went, it was packed, which I usually avoid, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. I had one of the most memorable dishes I've had in a long time: portobello mushrooms with shaved parmesan. Months later, I still think about that dish--it was easily one of the best things I ate in 2025. We also had a couple of pastas and drinks; everything was good, though my pasta (with sausage) wasn't my favorite. Total was around $140, so not cheap, but not unreasonable for the area. Such a local gem that I almost don't want to give away the secret. Our server, Edgar, it was his first day and he did great. Great hire! ;-) we really hope they keep this one around. Such a natural! We came to Casa 12 at 7:30pm on a Saturday night with a res for our anniversary dinner We arrived at the restaurant and an indoor table wasn't ready, so we had to wait about 5-10 minutes to be sat, which was pretty annoying. When we were sat, we were sat right by the bathroom door, and the man who I'm assuming was the manager told us we could move tables when a different party left. We got started with a bottle of wine, then had to move all of our things a few minutes later to a table that was so so so close to other tables that I struggled to get out when we left. Truly every single dish we had was delicious, I think the gorgonzola pasta was a standout! The service was okay on the whole, towards the end of our meal a sweet lady started helping us out, and she was fantastic. Whilst we were dining, the entire back area of the restaurant was filled with a large group that was quite rowdy, and it did detract from the intimate, Italian restaurant vibe we were looking for. The desserts were also yummy and the manager brought over some limoncello for our troubles, however with so many amazing Italian options in LA, I don't know if we'd return. Came for mother's day and the restaurant was a great choice for it. Location-wise, it's right next to Venice beach so we parked at the beach lot for $9 all day. We sat inside and it had a nice ocean breeze and nicely decorated. We ordered their grilled skewers for appetizer, then penne a pomodoro, seafood risotto, lobster ravioli, and 2 pastas of the day which were papardelle with short rib and squid ink with scallops. They also provided complimentary bread with olive oil and vinaigrette. Service was friendly and attentive. Recommend coming for date night or special occasions. Cozy little restaurant right in front of the Venice pier, not much room and it's quite noisy inside where you can really have a conversation without yelling which is annoying. Service was prompt and our hostess came to check on us frequently and explained the specials to us. We ordered the grilled octopus and a ragu pasta of some kind and the social of the day which was pappardelle with short rib. I'd say the octopus was cooked really well, I've never experienced that kind of texture (no rubbery feeling) with octopus. The pasta was solid and the sauces were rich but not overwhelming, however the serving sizes for everything was pretty tiny and I felt disappointed compared to the size of the bill. read more

Came here with friends on a whim one evening after a day of reveling. Casa 12 is a cozy restaurant with a small outdoor patio. We were seated outside as the weather was perfect for al fresco dining. ;-) The service was very fast and friendly. We all ordered our own meals (usually we tend to share), and I ordered the Veal Ossobuco Ravioli. WOW! I absolutely love Ossobuco, and I absolutely love ravioli, so this was a match made in Heaven! We were looking for a cozy and quiet spot to grab a drink on a Friday night (9ish) and walked past Casa 12. It was busy, but it but we were able to grab a quiet spot inside. We ordered a couple glasses of wine and although we weren't interested in dinner, our server gave us the highlights reel of the specials. We weren't very hungry, but the prosciutto pasta with vodka sauce sounded really simple and nice, so decided to grab one to share. The pasta was good, sauce was velvety and service was nice. (Although what's the deal with slamming down plates?) I suppose the surprise was when we got the bill - $85 with tax for two glasses of one and one pasta dish?! Apparently the daily special pasta was $42, which was significantly more than their other pasta dishes on the menu. The prices weren't mentioned when the specials were read out. We didn't contest it, but nearly $100 all was quite steep for what it was. I'd be open to trying it again, but maybe not for a casual night? read more

This restaurant made me want to move closer to Venice. The first thing I noticed was how quaint yet lively the atmosphere was. It felt warm, and the staff was friendly from the moment we walked in the door. We sat at a small table across from the pass, which I thought would be awful, but it was terrific and we got to see all the deliciousness coming out of the kitchen. It made it hard to decide what to order. We started with a bottle of wine, which was recommended by the most pleasant waiter. It was simply delicious and modestly priced. The place was packed, but the noise never raised to a level where we couldn't hear each other across the table. We started with the crostini which was topped with creamy burrata, ripe tomatoes, and a drizzle of sweet balsamic glaze, followed my an equally fresh and delicious Caesar Salad. A+ for the generous portion of anchovies , which we love. My husband had the bolognese (his favorite), which ate impossibly light. I had the lamb chops which were nicely caramelized on the outside, tender and flavorful. I don't know what the sauce was but I wanted to lick the plate. It really was a perfect meal in a lovely setting. As we walked out I couldn't help but smile. Not only because of our experience, but because it was clear by their faces and jovial energy that everyone else was experiencing the same vibe. The Food was terrible. Their brandino ($42) was not fresh and breaded served with 2 carrots, it was ridiculous. Pizza was terrible. Lacked flavor, tasted like a frozen pizza , very little tomato sauce, and the cheese didn't look right. Pasta was something you would get at a wedding, edible but nothing to rave about. This place was so gorgeous. Right along the beach and next to the pier, we went to another place and grab drinks before hand right next door and after dinner we got sunset at the beach. We sat outdoors and it had a full window opening inside so very warm vibes. Got a 10/10 dirty martini here with some truffle fries and for everyone's entree it was amazing. I'm gonna put it plain and simple; come here if you would like to eat great authentic Italian food. We were served by Paulino who is a master and knowing his menu and the food that comes out of the kitchen. The atmosphere was light and airy and you don't have to dress all the way up either. It's small and quaint and intimate and the candles on the table are real. We love this place! Small but cozy feel with dark moody interior. The food is actually SO good, some of our favorite pasta in LA. The staff are always friendly and aren't overbearing when checking in which is nice to just get to enjoy your company without being interrupted. Their gluten free pasta here is incredible too, I always get it with bolognese. It's an extra long penne and it's always cooked perfectly al dente! read more

My late grandmother was from New York City so from the time I could walk and talk I was exposed to good Italian food, I was very loyal to the restaurant Piccolo in the area however since their closure I have turned my sights to another Italian joint with the same ownership. What awaits is wonderful food including pasta made in house, good service, and an impressive selection of wine. The Bolognese was absolutely perfect it is very filling. The front of house here like at Piccolo are straight characters. Lindsay is somehow both a barista and a bartender operating the one of the scariest looking coffee machines I have ever seen. Very nice ambiance and decoration and some incredible people watching. Considering it's right nearby where I live it's criminal I haven't come to this spot earlier. Local Open Table find on Christmas Day evening for which we were grateful. Food - 5 stars, pastas (ravioli, carbonara, and bolognese) were toothsome and satisfying. Wines by the glass were well priced and offered excellent selection of both whites and reds. Ambiance - cosy and neighborhood trattoria feel, not too dark, music a touch too loud but if lowered there are a lot of hard surfaces and it might make the space noisy. Service - holidays can be challenging, lots of reservations and walk ins if you are one of the few establishments open for business. That said - our drinks arrived as we were finishing our meal after we had to ask where they were on the bar which we were seated a few steps from. I think I definitely would return for the food, but I hope that when the restaurant is less busy the service would improve. read more

Ok, what a find. We recently move to Venice , because we lost our home in the palisades fire. Living on Ocean Front has its perks. One is a great sunset every night, the other is Casa 12. I love this place, every one there is friendly, it is truly a beautiful local restaurant. The place runs like a Rolex smooth and timely. All of the food is on point. From the carpaccio octopus, and good Caesar to start. The mains include a rack of lamb, delicious, the chicken, my go to or a lovely Bronzino.
