Service was on point. Sammi, was our server, she was polite, professional and attentive as you expect all good wait staff to be at a decent restaurant. She anticipated the needs of our table. When we informed her we were expecting 1 guest to join us at a later time. She was able to sit my daughter quickly once she arrived and was able to quickly catch her up so my daughter didn't feel uncomfortable waiting for her drink orders. Sammi, was able to keep up with our refills of ice teas and coffee. Food was ok. We order the Spanish omelet to share and Mediterranean omelet. With sides of sausage and toast. The Spanish omelet was ok. The sauce was meh...it lacked the love that was provided from the old Dinah's. I do look forward to them refining their flavors and find their own taste profile. The decor was cute but lacked the charm and warmth of the old location. It seemed cookie cutter and dated...it follows a base format with no originality to set it apart from other restaurants. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately seated. Our server (I unfortunately forgot his name!) was fantastic. It came loaded with pancakes, hashbrowns, sausage, and toast--an absolute steal for the price~ Turkey Club Sandwich & Fries: I was in the mood for lunch, so I opted for the club. The fries were hot and perfectly crispy. The sandwich itself was wonderful, packed with turkey, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. My only tiny critique is that I wish it came with mayo (I'm a huge mayo fan!). However, I ordered a side of ranch which paired perfectly and really elevated the sandwich. Update - I am updating this review because my follow up experience was wonderful. I received a message from the manager Marlene. She offered to remake the order for me, I let her know I would be open to trying something different. I was offered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was fresh and well seasoned. Honestly a little disappointed by our experience. The food was generally good and the portion sizes were as well. The carrots had no glaze or seasoning so that was disappointing and the bacon was very salty. Otherwise all of the food was good. The staff is excellent at greeting you and making sure that you know that you are their top priority. The ambiance is casual with all the comforts of home but the service of a high end establishment. I ordered at the French Toast with sausage patties and eggs over easy. The meal was a solid A+ with my lemonade drink bringing in another perfect score. I decided to take a nibble from my cousins plate and her Eggs Benedict were done to perfection! We were checked on several times throughout the meal to see if we needed any extra refills or sides and the attention was appreciated. Our coffee was always hot, the lemonade stayed cold, and our bellies were full. A quick glance around the restaurant showed a good mix of families, regulars, and quite a few tourists. Randomly found this place in Culver City and it ended up being such a good find. This is apparently a new location for them and the vibe is so fun! The second we walked in, multiple people greeted us and made us feel welcome. Our server Marisol was amazing and took the time to explain some of the menu items we weren't familiar with, which we really appreciated. I got the eggs Benedict and they were perfect. The hollandaise was so good, the seasoned potatoes were delicious, and the corned beef hash was great too. We also tried a German pancake for the first time and absolutely loved it. Had never been to Dinah's when it was still at its now closed location but wanted to support them in their "new" location since I love diner type food and settings. I ended up getting the chicken plate with dark meat and a side of fries and corn. The chicken was crispy and reminded me of a typical diner fried chicken, a perfect comfort food for a hard day. I won't lie, the chicken could have been a little hotter but it was still delicious! Our server was also very attentive and gave us great service throughout our visit. The interior was a nice, cozy set-up that definitely made me feel like I was in a "comfort kitchen"- so along with comfort food, I just felt comfortable all together. We did go in a less busy time, so I'm not sure how it would be if it's super busy but we had really no complaints! One thing I will mention, while we knew where the entrance was since we go to this little shopping center often and live in the area, it might be good to have some more lights or signs showing the spot is open or where to go. Hadn't been to Dinah's in years. Didn't know this location existed. And when a friend suggested Dinah's - I told her it's shut down as I drive by the "old" location off Sepulveda every so often. She gave direction and I was on my way. It's in a plaza that offers parking, but can be tough at times. I've never had an issue but I know people who have. It's free though and if needed, you can park on the street. Off Washington, it's metered. Off the side street behind the plaza, no meters but there may be permit restrictions. Read the signs. I haven't needed to park there so ... Walked in, immediately greeted and was ushered to the table where my friend was waiting. Service was great - attentive, friendly, personable and funny. The great: The outdoor terrace was super shaded, and comfortable. It was nice to be able to sit outside. The customer service was also really awesome. We were checked on, our coffees were refilled, and I was given the cutest to go coffee. The good: Food when it came out was delicious as always. We mostly got chicken and waffles and got to choose from white, dark, or combo meat. The OK: Our food came out at different times. First one of our party got waffles, then chicken only came out for those of us who ordered chicken and waffles, and the waffles didn't join in till later. Turned out I could get it with pancakes instead of hash browns, so I still got syrup with my food. My hash was good, not great, the 3 pancakes large. The Dinah's we used to go to closed. We had stopped going years ago because the food was always hit or miss, usually miss. We decided to give this place and chance and it was just not even close to good. The chicken was crispy in any way, if I did not know better I would think they made a batch and just let it sit out. The pieces are small. There is not one thing I can say good about it. The rolls, which used to be a high point were hard as little rocks and had no flavor. The mashed potatoes were watery. The gravy was okay. We ordered to go, but we saw the place and it did not have one comfortable seat. It was not super clean. The service was so very slow. It is really sad. Today I had the pleasure of eating at Dinah's Comfort Kitchen. It has a very homey atmosphere with TV's on every wall! The service was amazing, and fast. If you haven't tried a "German Pancake" you are missing out! It's a must try! Went to Dinah's for the first time because my cousin wanted some waffles and always wanted to try it out for myself. It was an average experience. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best I've ever had. The baked pancake looked good but honestly, I'd probably avoid getting it and saving your 19-22 dollars on it. I had the biscuits and gravy and it felt like there wasn't any effort put into the dish. My cousin had the regular chicken and waffles and the waffle was amazing, but the chicken seemed to be a little undercooked on the inside. Our waiter was absolutely incredible though! We weren't trying to be difficult and you could tell she knew that when we asked for different chicken and she accommodated us so well so truly thank you for that! Service was great, still tipped our 20% because of such, but the food was just average in my opinion. Dinah's was a staple in Culver City. I worked right across the street from their location on Sepulveda and Centinela but never tried them and then they were closed. I thought I had missed out until today. While driving down Sepulveda I saw they were reopened in a new location on Sepulveda near Venice Blvd. The restaurant looks really nice especially those resin floors. Dinah's has a new look and they keep everything really clean including the restrooms. Although they have a new location they have the same kitchen and serving staff. Customer service was excellent! Everyone we encountered was friendly, knowledgeable about Dinah's history and just really nice people! I ordered the fried chicken plate. It came with a roll, banana bread, 3 pieces of fried chicken and two sides. My sides were creamed spinach with bacon and the french fries. The fries were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside cooked perfectly. The creamed spinach had a good flavor but it was too, too creamy. I will pass on the roll and banana bread. I didn't like either of them and I am a bread lover. The chicken was a little greasy and bland. The chicken tasted like they didn't put any seasoning on it and it was not crunchy at all. Some people like it that way. I wish they had a well two options for the chicken like regular or spicy. My hubby ordered the burger and fries. He said portion sizes are large, food is average. The staff is very attentive and professional. The food has always been very good, and we are happy with everything we order. I have to agree with another reader, that at least the "dark meat" pieces were small. The thighs had about 4 bites of meat on them. The creamed spinach was divine and the dinner salad was crisp and delicious. There were not many people there on a Monday night. The staff was very attentive and gave me an extra chicken thigh while I waited for them to make more drumsticks. That was very nice of them. So, if you're a fan of the old Dinah's at the corner of Centinela and Sepulveda, give their new location a try.
