We wanted to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather so we decided on Venice Cucina and we are SO glad we did. The porch is so nice, shaded with umbrellas, and lots of nice plants. The staff is so nice, and you can tell they really care about you choosing to eat here. The food is SO GOOD. 100% you can taste the fact every single thing is homemade and made with passion and love. Wether you're looking for something quick, or just want to eat and relax, this is the place for you. 10/10 would recommend and we can't wait to come back. Based on the many positive reviews, I was excited to finally try this place as I live right across the street. Sadly, my experience here left a lot to be desired - like decent food. The service was poor. He was barely audible, had little confidence in his presentation, and never once came back for refills. He would disappear into the kitchen and pop out sporadically to give people their checks. Honestly, he seemed to have no waiting experience whatsoever; I think the owner might have hired him off the street as a favor. If that's the case, kudos to the owner for giving a guy a job. Bad service I can overlook if the food is good. But it wasn't. I ordered the lasagna formaggio while the other half ordered a Caprese salad. The salad was completely flavorless, and the sauce on my lasagna tasted identical to canned Chef Boyardee ravioli (which would have been delicious back in my drunk college days). For about the same price point and MUCH better food, go to Centanni Trattoria on Lincoln. I am in no way affiliated with that restaurant or have friends there; it's just that much better. read more

If I am writing a review take it to heart. This place is a trap for tourist as if you want water with dinner you need to ask for tap water. They bring you bottle water and since it is unexpected the table takes it and you are charged by the bottle. The pasta with the meal I ordered literally had 21 penne noodles less than a cup...if you are hungry dont eat here. They charge for absolutely everything and portion size is small dispite what the the waiter says. I will say the waiter was very nice. The refills on soda/tea etc are an additional charge and they fail to mention that. Read menu carefully... better yet dont go! read more

This place is simply not a good restaurant. They usually deliver food about 2 hours after you place your order when they tell you 45 minutes everytime, and they overcharge like crazy. My pasta got to me completely crumbled with the carboard inside of my vodka sauce. It was really gross, and my caesar salad was upside down and covered in some kind of water. The delivery guy was sketchy as hell. Not to mention the time I ordered from this place before, there was some kind of hard small plastic like, clear object that i almost swallowed. Having just moved to Venice from NYC two months ago, I'm on a mission to try everything in my new area. I was craving Italian food and pass Venice Cucina every day on my bike. I decided to pick up and bring it home, going with the Penne a la vodka. Once I got home, I took the lid off my pasta and was met with overcooked penne soaking in a white cream soup. That was it. No veggies, no cheese, no proscuitto, nothing. I gave the restaurant a call and the owner apologized and said they were so busy tonight and it was a new chef because the usual chef was out. He assured me he'd cover my next meal there, which was very nice. A few days later I ordered Chicken parm. Took it home, and found chicken parm on the bottom, penne on top, and random vegetables all in tomato sauce that honestly tasted like the cheapest, off the shelf, generic sauce you could get. The chicken was thin and bland, and the pasta was again overcooked, and also soaked in the cheap sauce. The food here honestly reminds me of cooking on a budget in college. While the owner did what he could to right a wrong, the food is the problem... I'm not going back, but Venice does need a good Italian spot. read more

My boyfriend and I were hanging out with another couple at Danny's Deli in Venice on a Friday night. Two out of four of us are Italian. My boyfriend had been bugging me to try this Venice Cucina place for awhile, but it looked out of place on Windward Circle, and looked virtually deserted. So, on this evening, it just so happened our friends wanted to go here. We came in, and were immediately greeted by someone who seated us and promptly asked for our drink order. The group was wanting to drink something, so when we found that there is no alcohol, the staff quickly told us where we could buy something to go along with our food. My friend and I ordered the caprese salad while our boyfriends' went to find a bottle of wine and such.....well, by the time they got back that caprese salad, along with the oil and bread they brought was demolished! The caprese salad was accompanied by roasted peppers that I couldn't stop eating. And the bread with oil with herbs! Soooo good! Once the boyfriends got back with drinks, we ordered several entrees.....I asked the server what the best pasta dish was...he said the fettucine alfredo. I went with it. I'm not a big chicken fan, so I added prosciutto to the dish..... AMAZING!!!!! It was so tasty. My boyfriend ordered the Lasagna Bolognese. He is from New York and straight up Italian. He couldn't stop raving about it. He thoroughly enjoyed the bite I allowed him from my plate as well. He kept saying that this is the best Itallian restaurant he's been to in 15 years of living in Venice. My friend Corey ordered the Eggplant Parmesan. She is Italian as well, and would NOT shut up about how authentic the dish was. Lastly, her boyfriend ordered the Sole dish. I'm not huge on fish, but I thought it was very tasty. After enjoying all of our dishes, why not go for dessert???? Corey ordered the cannoli, which both of us enjoyed and then fought over who was taking the leftover home with us!!! We were literally chasing each other down the street to take the last cannoli home, lol! I also ordered Tiramisu. It was the best Tiramisu I've ever had. Please, you must try this place. It's one of those little places that are gems. The owner's name is Sasha. If we can get some local business in this place, it will be around for a LONG time. Horrible service, canceled my order twice

Just discovered this restaurant the other day when my fiancé and I took out my roommates parents. Really good Italian food and definitely a place I'll come back to. I ordered a chicken dish with some vegetables and pasta. The sauce for the chicken was amazing and the potions were just right! My fiancé ordered angle hair pasta with sauce that included chunks of tomatoes. Again, it was amazing! The service was great but they do not serve alcohol. So BYOB! read more

Restrooms?!?! What a ridiculous excuse to try and discredit a 100% honest review. I was visiting a friend who lived 5 blocks away on Westminster, who had a perfectly good restroom. I wasn't even the one who picked up the food!!!! I felt so compiled to write the review because of how bad I felt about suggesting that we order Italian. What a sorry, sad excuse for a restaurant this place is. Instead of owning up to the poor product produced and taking the harsh criticism as a wake up call, someone took the time to try and shamefully lie about the source. Food was mediocre if i'm being generous, it was also rather expensive for what tasted and looked like fast food. Our server didn't pay much attention to my boyfriend and I, even though he only had two other tables to attend because it was very empty. The menu says they'll add a mandatory tip of 18% when a party is five people or more, so we were surprised when we say they had added a 18% tip fee to our bill. Will never visit again, wouldn't recommend it. (Also not a huge deal, but they don't serve alcohol) read more

Came in last night. Glad I checked yelp ahead of time to see that it's BYOB. We brought a bottle of wine and our dog. They have a great patio that has a really nice view of the "VENICE" sign. We were visiting friends in the area and they suggested Venice Cucina. We loved it! Excellent Italian food. My husband and I shared a delicious Caesar salad, fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing. We also had a thin crust pizza with sausage which was wonderful as well. Our calamari appetizer was light and crisp. The weather was just perfect for sitting on the patio. It can get a bit noisy with passing motorcycles, but great people watching. The owner was warm and friendly and we would definitely recommend this restaurant and will go back when we are in the area again. We brought our own wine and had a very enjoyable evening. I was babysitting in the area and since Venice Cucina was close to the hotel, it made the cut. Our waitress, Alex, really made a huge difference. I ordered the Four Cheese pizza -- which was delicious -- but I had a brain lapse and forgot that gorgonzola was probably not the most kid friendly cheese. Once I realized this 7 year old was not having it, Alex came over and immediately solved the problem by bringing a Margarita (no basil - this kid is picky) and the day was saved. We stopped here after a day of sight seeing and I haven't stopped thinking about our meal ever since! Everyone there was genuinely kind, and welcoming. I believe it was the owner who seated us... and the young lady that took our order took the time to answer all of our questions about the different dishes.... but the food was AMAZING! We are a family of 5, so we each ordered something different, you could tell the dishes were authentic, and the sauces home-made. I had the Eggplant Parmesana, my son the Chicken Parmesana, my husband the Seafood pasta (I can't remember the name), and the smaller kids each had a Pizza. Nice, peaceful little restaurant with out of this world amazing food. We have the penne Alla vodka and chicken marsala. The pasta was delicious and really hit the spot. Went there tonight for dinner. Casual setting, decor nothing remarkable it fine, food tasty but not amazing. Could do better on vegetarian options (but the Minestrone is veggie & quite good). We stumbled upon this place, as it was near the apartment that we were renting. It is BYOB, which was great. We sat outside, gorgeous weather. I had the Linguine AlFrutti del Mare. It was absolutely fantastic. My friend had the Pollo Con Crema al Basilico. Also delicious. It made me want to come back again during the weekend.
