Pizza night and we decided to try the neighborhood pizza place , located in the Owen Brown Village Center. It was delicious! Flavorful & cheesy! We ordered the 16 inch thin crust sausage pizza. I ordered food for delivery from Vennari's to mix it up from my usual. It was warm when it arrived, but not hot. I got a 10 in Hawaiian pizza with added green peppers. It was not good. The Canadian bacon was more like cut pieces of ham that weren't really baked. I asked for regular crust and light sauce, and I think I ended up getting thin crust and normal sauce. Normally the pineapple has a more pronounced flavor, but even that was missing. The green peppers were not well cooked either. I tried Vennari's a few years ago and it was really good. But I paid almost $25 for this and a bland slice of oreo pie (HOW), and I'm thoroughly disappointed. Really wish I had just stuck with my usual, Pizzaman. read more

Vennari's is around the corner of a friends house. He highly recommended their pizza, it's his family's go-to. My contribution for the Superbowl was pizza and subs. I made a quick order on the Slice App, easy peasy. It let me know when my order would be ready. For Superbowl Sunday, Vennari's was busy! Of course they were. The owner was great! In a good mood despite the line of Doordash and customers waiting to pick up their orders. He told me to have a seat, my order would be right out. And it was. My 10" extra cheese was delicious! Perfect crust, loved the sauce and the right amount of cheese. I'm a pizza snob. I loved it! I ate the entire thing! This is a YELP for help!! To the new owner of Vennaris Pizza . Vennaris has been a part of my life for over 4 decades. Their recipe for magnificent pizza has been passed down through the generations. Until now. I don't know if the owner "sonny " has left the family. I would write him if I could contact him, to BEG for him to Come back and manage this store. I've had 6 consecutive bad experiences with their pie. I kept ordering , hoping that they were just having a bad day and not consistently HORRIBLE, but nope. This pizza place has become literally FOUL. Like I threw away my last one. Pretty sure they make a bunch of pizzas in the morning and when they don't sell, they throw some more cheese on it and reheat it for delivery customers. We tried ordering custom pizzas so we wouldn't get a reheated one, but still absolutely foul. I am not kidding or being dramatic. This new pizza standard barely passes as food. I am beginning to tell people to stay away from there, a pizza kit is better. Frozen pizza is better. Stale bread is better . SONNY PLEASE COME BACK. read more

Probably our new 'go-to' pizza place. We tend to make our own pizza because avoid grease...but I was craving a good white broccoli pizza and didn't feel up to cooking. So I searched all through Yelp, looking at pizza photos, to find a pie with gooey cheese, not too greasy, and hearty toppings. With good reviews, we figured let's try this place out. We got a white broccoli mushroom pizza and a gyro special pizza. Delivery said 45 mins, they were perfectly on time. The pizzas were absolutely amazing. Barely any grease, seasoned amazingly, with the perfect crust to cheese ratio. Everything tasted so fresh, they were not canned mushrooms-it tasted like fresh broccoli from a head of broccoli not frozen. My only meh, keeping it a 4 not a 5, is the toppings we added on, at extra cost, were barely on the pizzas, compared to toppings that came on the pizza-which were overloaded. I was the only person in there when I first walked in. I felt rushed to order. The lunch special is only on the outside of the place. I had to walk back outside to see the menu. The guy there looked like he didn't wanna be there and talked minimum to me. It was my first time and definitely my last time going. I asked for mayo on the side and he wanted to say it's on the sub. I didn't ask that I asked if I could have mayo on the side and he said it was extra but online it doesn't say that. I had delivery - ordered directly from the Yelp App: Two pizzas, one mushroom, and one white with spinach and broccoli. The white was done with some wonderful spices on top (mostly italian) that I thought came out pretty well. The red pizza's sauce was probably some of the better sauce in MD (not too sweet or acidic)- but I STILL might go with the white pizza if I had to choose. The mushrooms were cut way too thin - so might as well have been decoration. The spinach and broccoli however, were really on point. They tasted relatively fresh and were plentiful. The dough was a nice dough, if you like your pizza really doughy. I prefer a nice crispy outside and a doughy inside, this lacked the crunch a good crust should have. We got both a thin crust and a regular, and couldn't really tell the difference. The cheese was tasty. Just a tad too greasy, so they could work on that ratio, but it wasn't over the top at all - even on the white pizza. The topping selection is sparse, at best, when you order online. But, when I look at the website, I notice at least one "specialty" pie has feta listed - which isn't available as a topping selection. On writer says this is the best pizza in Columbia. For straight up delivery pizza at a reasonable price - it's a contender, and will be added to my rotation. That said - pizza in Columbia, and most of MD, is just severely lacking in quality. read more

The best deal is the pick up special, 12 wings, XL pizza, and a 2 liter of soda for 21.99. Not bad at all. Sonny is the man. This place doesn't look like much, but they have some of the best pizza in the area. The crust is cooked perfectly and has a nice chewy texture, they use a blend of cheeses and their sauce is delicious. They put the sauce on top of the cheese instead of under it, which makes it for me. I just get a plain cheese and it always hits the spot! read more

The crust edge was fluffy and good, and the sauce and cheese were both excellent (if a bit greasy for most people, personally I like it a bit oily since that usually means lots of flavor in the cheese itself). They have a couple of small tables in the restaurant, but it is not someplace to take more than a couple of people, and certainly not a place to expect table side service, china plates, or actual silverware. read more

I used to come here many years ago for a slice of pizza after school. I had not eaten here in about 6 years and when I was in the area, I just had to stop by. I was happy to see they were still there and the pizza DID NOT disappoint. I don't know what special thing they do to make the pizza so good, but I really enjoyed it. Had to throw the food away. There were 5 small white bone pieces in our cheesesteak. My husband grew up eating there and was excited to go back. After each of us bit down into it we opened it up and found 3 more pieces. The person who responded to my complaint called me a scammer and wished me luck with getting a refund and leaving a review. The pizza had very little sauce and the COVID protocols were lacking. Mask beneath the nose and handling of phone, credit card, and food without sanitizing. It's a hit! This review is for the pizza and house salad and they were both terrific. I don't understand with this neighborhood gem why anyone would get blah pizza from a chain...gross. This pizza was fresh, made with real cheese, and the crust was perfect. This is honestly one of the best pies I have had. I did an online order of the Veggie Calzone. Beware that the "veggies" listed in the menu don't match what is inside the calzone. When I got back to my office, I found that the spinach or broccoli I was hoping for was not there. I called back to check why this was the case and was told, "This is the way that I make it." I was told that I could have checked boxes to select the items I wanted inside the calzone. This was not the responsive customer service I expect in a situation like this. For Columbia expats, any trip back to Maryland must include a stop at Vennari's. Currently located in a charmless strip mall in Oakland Mills, Vennari's inspires incredible devotion among people who grew up in Columbia. The place has been around since the '70s (at least) and the distinctive pizza recipe has not changed, although the ownership has. Two things set the Vennari's pie apart: the blend of cheeses (which evidently includes a delicious, grease-producing cheddar component) and the sweetish sauce, which is applied not as a single layer under the pizza, but instead appears below the cheese in some places and on top of it in others. The crust is also excellent--thin but appropriately chewy--but the unique cheese and sauce components make this pie what it is. The best bet is the plain cheese pie (the extra cheese version is also delicious but exceedingly greasy, each slice the cardiac equivalent of a two-day coke binge, so tread cautiously). I consider myself a pizza aficionado, and Vennari's remains my favorite of the hundreds of slices I have tried in cities and towns across America. It is unlike any other. To be fair, most of the people I know who love Vennari's grew up with it. My wife is unmoved by this pizza (although her commitment to pizza as a culinary art form is questionable, thus her lukewarm opinion does not faze me). For some time I have been trying to convince an old friend of mine to temporarily take a job at Vennari's in order to learn the recipe so that we will be able to replicate it in the event the store closes. We took out a single topping 16 incher for $9.99 w/ a coupon tonight. I agree with others that the pie is indeed good. It is more greasy (not necessarily in a bad way) and has a chewier crust than Trattoria's pizza. I'm not a big fan of greasier pies but I liked this one. If I had to choose between here and Trattoria, I would choose Trattoria. Vennaris seems like a pizza & sub only joint versus Trattoria which has more options like pastas and more pizza by slice options. Dining in would be much more comfortable at Trattoria too. I would consider Vennaris as a take-out only place. Based on pizza alone I think I would go to Trattoria more often also. As I mentioned before, I'm more partial to less greasy pizza. read more

So I'm kind of a dope, I'll admit. I avoided going here because I mixed it up with the pizza chain Vocellis. Nowhere near the same. After a friend turned me onto the pizza dude on Vice Munchies (or jerk, depending on who you ask) I decided to give this place a try. After a few consecutive Fridays of ordering, I figured out the perfect base configuration: *regular sauce *extra sauce *well baked From there, the toppings available are simple but good. Basic sides likes wings, cheesesticks, etc don't look particularly sexy from looking at the menu but I assure you that despite my own skepticism I tried most of it and was pretty pleased. Very very fast and affordable too, even up against the hordes of quality delivery pizza/subs/wings options in HoCo. Vennari's has quickly become my dependable standby for pizza. Delivery driver (son?) is super cool too, and always remembers me despite not being a regular. read more

I called to speak to the manager and explained that the pizza was not edible and I wanted to bring it back and get a refund.
