This review is for my initial visit which included a full set of xrays plus an exam. Expect to take about 15 minutes to read / complete all the initial paperwork. Know your medical / dental history. Digital xrays were taken in an efficient manner and available on a screen for me to see. Dr. Reza Malekzadeh DDS then performed his exam. He listened intently as I discussed my dental history... and prior treatments. He spent an appropriate amount of time inspecting my teeth and gums. He was thorough in providing his recommendations on appropriate oral hygiene. He discussed the services that his office can provide for follow-up visits. He was respectful and did NOT attempt to "up-sell" me services that I did not need. This is a small office with limited privacy and without frills... which I'm NOT concerned with. I moved my dad to a new dentist after taking him here and witnessed the type of care he received, or lack there of. He then told me the following: Most awful experiences with this office from scheduling to getting work done. Office staff is very Hard to get a hold off because they make their own hours and change them daily. He saw many "Revolving staff" in the short time he was a patient. They will call you the day of your appointment and move your time or reschedule you due to being "short handed". I am fairly new in the area and found the office by chance. I am so glad and relieved to find a group of people who are genuinely kind and friendly. I personally do not like going to the dentist, but the staff here makes sure you are comfortable from start to finish. They even call you to follow up and see how you are doing after a procedure. This is a very small office with no privacy and no dental hygienist of staff. I selected Dr. Malekzadeh through Delta Dental Medicare and scheduled a teeth cleaning. Instead of the cleaning I requested, I was given an exam and told that I need an $800 procedure and that I would not get a cleaning unless I had the procedure. I was told that I should go find another dentist if I did not agree. I went back to my previous dentist of 20 years where I am treated with respect. read more

Worst dentist ive ever been to in my life. I have a major infection in my gum line on both sides of my face and all this dentist gave me was antibiotics and 200mg ibuprofen. Since ive seen this dentist ive been to the hospital twice with a swollen face. They told me to schedule an appointment with bright now dental in Oxnard and I tried but they wouldn't allow me to make an appointment because they said I needed a 2700 dollar bone graft that I have to pay out of pocket. Then this dentist says I don't need one. Enough with the runaround and fix my damn face already. And then when I try to reach out through chat I get ignored. I hadn't been to the dentist in a long while, was having some sensitivity and bleeding gums when flossing so i finally went in for check up. Needed a deep cleaning, had plaque/tartar build up. Dr Melekzadeh talked to me as much as i wanted about everything, did it all in one session, and made sure it was not painful. The amazing thing was that the very next time I flossed, no bleeding and hasn't since! Very appreciative of my experience. It may not be a high end experience with the latest technology and ipads to watch or listen to, but I can't express more about how professional Dr. Melekzadeh was through each appointment and how friendly his staff was. I went to this dental office for the first time because it was "in-network" with my new plan. I have had alot of dental work but take good care of my teeth. The dentist is a good technician, but on my third visit was 30mins late for my early morning appt, claiming he had to pick up his dry cleaning. Really? All three chairs with patients waiting, juggling back and forth. My first exam and estimate for work to be done was over $11,000. Wow, a cash cow. I said "prioritize", can't do it all this year. I had x-rays, cleaning, a filling and a crown. The temporary crown was on for three weeks, had a bad smell when removed, I commented but dentist dismissed it. Then replaced with permanent crown. In three days I developed the worst abscess I've ever had, over a weekend of course, no answer on the phone, needed an emergency root canal Monday morning 9am and 10 days antibiotics. I've had alot of dental work, implants and crowns. This was excrutiating, swollen face and headache. Temporary crown should not have been on that long, and in my experience was not cleaned properly before the permanent was put on. Receptionist is unprofessional, upselling by showing me a tray of teeth with ugly crowns so I would pay for the "best one", which, it turns out was the ONLY one the dentist would provide. Very quick to produce an invoice and ask for payment. (hard to say this, but she also clunks around in high heels, short dresses, and took my x-rays when I came in for 2nd appt. Geez, is it hard to wear scrubs in a medical facility? I worked in one for a long time. This is not confidence-inspiring.) Thought a long time about writing a review, but almost a year later now, I'm still really unhappy about it and wanted to inform others. read more

I bought a groupon deal to Dr. Malekzadeh few months ago and never used, than I had an emergency and called his office. I have to be honest I wasn't too sure because I never been his patience, but from the very beginning he and his team were wonderful to me, I am an international student here and always short on money, he was so kind and understanding, nicely explained to me what my options are, didn't shame me, was very honest and his prices are amazing. He treated me last minute, because I didn't have an appointment, he was willing to work with me and showed an amazing costumer service. I am just mind blown, he was gentle, explained everything clearly, was so professional. I am definitely going back and I thought I would share my great experience with Dr. Malekzadeh. He talked me through everything he was doing for a deep cleaning, and he spent a lot of time with me after the procedure to discuss preventative care and orthodontic options. He also believes strongly in taking Medi-Cal and making dentistry affordable as a way of giving back to the community and helping people. I really appreciate this! I gave this business four stars out of five, however, because I think there are ways that they could make the main work area more inviting to put people at ease. Dr. Malekzadeh is obviously passionate about his field, extremely knowledgeable, and happy to share his years of insight with his patients, so they can better understand how to care for themselves. I made an appointment to see this dentist after the last dentist my insurance company sent me to turned out to be more interested in money than me. So, based on this dentist's 5.0 reviews history, I chose him. I got to my appointment on time but they were late opening the office. I filled out paperwork and waited a half an hour before the called me up to the desk and said that the dentist refused to see me until I got my x-rays from the previous dentist which were taken a MONTH ago. They gave me the lame-ass excuse that they didn't want to expose me to more radiation so soon. A MONTH??? What they really didn't want to do was go through the expense x-raying my teeth, instead, they'd rather take the work of another dentist instead of doing the work themselves. This is a very low-rent office and now I am stuck with having to find another dentist and waiting another month while my teeth get worse. read more

I worked at a job for 28 years and had amazing dental insurance. I recently retired with no dental insurance. Costco offers insurance so we signed up for that. I have been to Dr. Malekzadeh for two visits. The first was for x rays and consultation. The last appointment was for a deep cleaning and replacing three metal fillings that were over 50 years old. Other than deep cleaning and regular cleaning, I have had no other work done on my teeth since I was a teenager. Dr. Malekzadeh is a good dentist. No pain what so ever. He explains what he is going to do. Very calm, very pleasant person. His office is well run and his employees are friendly and efficient. This is my FIRST YELP REVIEW EVER! I just have to share my experience! Dr. Malekzadeh is the absolute BEST DENTIST i have EVER been to. I HADD a fear of going to the dentist, which kept me away for over 5 years. I have no dental insurance so i went to several places for "free exams" just to be quoted ridiculously high prices for the treatments. Knowing i needed a root canal i came to him after being recommended by a co-worker, the price was better than any other quoted price. The Dr. and his staff showed me BEST customer service. And he fit me right into his schedule last minute. Both the Dr. and his assistant were very patient, they answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Reza Malekzadeh is the best dentist i have ever seen. I es extremely nice and does not "shame" like many other dentists do. He accepts medi-cal patients, which is a huge community service. Many dentists do not, because medi-cal does not reimburse them as much as a private insurance. He spent a lot of time with me and did my procedures himself, including a deep cleaning, rather than having a hygienist or assistant do it. I had a hygienist do a deep cleaning last time, and it was extremely painful and expensive, and it took for ever. He was also wonderful with my 5 year old son. For patients that do not have insurance and for procedures not covered by insurance he gives a discount. I honestly cant say enough good things about him. And its in a plaza with a tanning booth and a sushi restaurant. That makes me feel at home. read more

Dr. Malekzedeh is by far the best dentist I know! I normally don't do the Yelp thing, but I just had to praise this office. I have brought my two kids here over the last couple of years, and Dr. Malekzedeh is always kind and gentle with them. He also teaches them how to properly care for their teeth. Recently, I went to him to clean and check my teeth (after not seeing a dentist for a lot of years) and he helped me put together a treatment plan. He went above and beyond the normal cleaning during the visit and helped me get my gums healthy again. He really made me understand the importance of regular check-ups and gave me a lot of information to care for my teeth at home. I could tell he actually cared about my teeth. Yesterday, I went back to him for a root canal and to fill a cavity and I cannot tell you what a perfect experience it was. I felt absolutely no pain during the procedures. None! Today, I still feel no pain. He was so gentle and quick, it's unbelievable. Do not waste your time going to any other dentist. Dr. Malekzedeh is an AMAZING dentist and human being!! Dr. Malekzadeh is awesome. I checked in and he was working the front desk because he was short-staffed, due to an employee on maternity leave. (who does that?! wow!) He worked with my insurance issues, was super kind and gentle, even though I needed deep-cleaning, which was much more gentle than I would imagine. I am not sore at all this evening. He did all the work himself and trained a new assistant at the same time, which was cool to experience. His demeanor is super sweet and is just an all-around good guy who knows what he is doing. He kept checking in to make sure I was comfortable and never once shamed me for my obvious lack of self-care. I had also chipped a tooth and he did an amazing job in making sure it looked perfect. You can not tell it was ever damaged. He offered me discounts since my insurance didn't cover as much as I had hoped. The office may not look super fancy, but he should be in Beverly Hills! He is a very high-quality dentist. Go to him for all your dentistry needs! By the way, his last name means "King's son". I would agree. He is top-notch. He works with Medi-cal and everything.
