Squirrels were destroying my hardscaping. My backyard is terraced, with three tiers above the lawn and staircases on both sides. The squirrels were tunneling beneath the stairs and near the retaining walls, causing significant damage and potentially compromising the integrity of the yard. Over the past two years, I noticed that the coyotes whose yowls once woke me at night seemed to have disappeared. At the same time, my backyard squirrel population exploded. I did not want to use poison, so I started with less aggressive options. First, I placed strong-smelling squirrel-repellent balls inside the den openings. I even wore gloves because they smelled so awful. The squirrels were completely unimpressed. Next, I baited rat traps. The squirrels knocked them over and ate the bait. Then I bought a device that was supposed to lure the squirrels inside and kill them instantly. It caught nothing. It did, however, attract spiders. I added fake owls throughout the yard. Some moved in the wind, while others were solar-powered, moved, and screeched. The squirrels ignored every one of them. Eventually, I hired a company that treated the numerous squirrel dens. When we continued to see many squirrels, I called the company back, and they treated the dens a second time. It still did not solve the problem. Finally, I called Ventura Pest Control. Ryan explained that their approach was different. During the first week, he placed food around the yard so the squirrels would become comfortable eating it. The following week, he placed the same bait inside traps and returned each day to remove the captured squirrels. The results were remarkable. Ryan caught 12 squirrels on the first day, four on the second, and two on the third. After years of damage and multiple failed solutions, Ventura Pest Control solved the problem. We live in a condo complex and the HOA recently had our property tented by Ventura Pest control. A couple days before they were scheduled to tent our property we called and informed them that there was an active Red Finch bird nest in one of the eves. They sent a supervisor out by the name of Leland. He told us that Red Finches were not protected, and that they would tent over the nest killing the baby birds. After hearing this, I chose to move the nest myself, knowing that the birds would have a low likelihood of survival after, but figured it was better than them getting tented over and having no chance. A few days later I found out that Red Finches are protected. I called Leland he proceeded to laugh and say "didn't you move the nest?" I explained to him that yes I had. But only because he had it for me that they were going to tent over it. I am going to report them to Fish and Wildlife, but was hoping you could help get my message out that Ventura Pest is at best unethical, but more likely just blatantly breaking the law. I doubt that Leland is operating/acting on his own. Either Chuck Cooley, and the Moberly brothers are negligent but more than likely fully aware and involved with these illegal practices. We were with this outfit for a year after our independent pest control guy sold his family business to them. The on-site pest control and customer service were never the same. Our last visit, bug guy came unannounced which we became used to. Didn't knock on the door or alert us so we could make sure our dog was safe inside and not going through her dog door. My wife said he spent 4 minutes spraying and didn't go in our backyard which I confirmed from our security cameras. He spent about 4 minutes total on our property and looked out of it the entire time. I'm not even sure he was actually spraying. When he left, it looked like he had trouble driving away! I canceled my service immediately but they didn't respond until I showed them the incimenating video evidence. I even edited it with multiple angles and time stamps so they could see it clearly. They called and apologized. I can't believe how much money we spent on this mess without knowing that they were probably underperforming the entire time but we were away when they came and unaware of their service. We also didn't check in on what they were doing. So glad we caught them and can no longer funnel money into whatever this is. read more

We noticed we had two locations with small sawdust particles in a wall coming from a pin sized hole in our upstairs bedroom and closet, plus one balcony area was showing droppings. We called our regular Pest Control guy and he wanted to immediately tent our home and use some electrical current machine that was extremely expensive. I researched and found tenting was completely unnecessary and spot treatment was the best option and would save thousands of dollars. We were highly referred to Ventura Pest due to their specialized knowledge of termites. Lelan was the inspector who came to our home and immediately agreed tenting was unnecessary and that spot treatment was indicated. He also inspected the rest of our inside/attic/outside and found three other new areas where treatment would be necessary. Lelan thoroughly explained different options and suggested an option for us. Two days later, our home was treated inside an out and we saved thousands of dollars with taking the advice of a TERMITE SPECIALIST, not our well known general pest control owner we currently use here in Oxnard. Save money and have Lelan educate you on your next steps. He was on time, extremely professional, knowledgeable, and careful with our home. If I could give this company zero stars I would. Clear instructions like call before service are completely ignored. Service is not completed properly. I've given this company 3 separate chances to get it together and complete the one thing I ask for every service, and it could not be done. I yet again have had a random technician show up to my house UNANNOUNCED! An appointment was never made in fact, I cancelled all services 5 days prior and a man STILL SHOWED UP, WITHOUT A CALL COMPLETELY UNANNOUNCED. They worked with me with the monthly service pricing and addressed all my concerns. Our technician, Brian V. Is very customer oriented!! On day one, he was attentive to all my complaints, do's and don'ts!! I have many herbs, fruits and vegetables throughout my garden so his job was cut out for him. He remained respectful and professional during my dissertation!! He spends a considerable amount of time knocking down the webs, spraying carefully in designated areas, and addressing my ant and rat problems! In other words, he provides excellent service!! The remarkable attribute Brian possess is his ability to be non argumentative! I point out areas that need special attention and it gets done! None of the defensive posture, none of the negative attitude!! In fact, he is very personable and friendly!! Customer Service is huge for me especially when there are competitors out there!! Be aware of minimum charges for work performed. Part of an $800 bill was $300 for six square feet of ground injection treatment. I would also recommend supervising the work being done. What I told the person who wrote up the estimate and what was done by the guy they sent out to perform work was a classic case of miscommunication. Before health issues became a problem for me I used to do handyman work at Hueneme Bay and witnessed more than a few incidences of the elderly being taken advantage of. I'm only in my mid seventies so I'll trust that's not what happened to me. read more

Ugh. I have been using this company for maintenance for the last 9 years for routine spraying on the outside of my house. This last time, after the tech rescheduled 3x, when he finally showed up, my ring camera caught the tech spraying, then noticing a large critter hole on the side of the house, he looks at it for about a minute, then kicks rocks into it to cover it up. Not a mention of it on my report. When I called about the situation, the manager named Rick, only said that I do not have gopher service, and this tech was doing "me a favor." Really? When we suddenly had an infestation of roaches, we called Ventura Pest Control. Their service was incomplete and ineffectual. A disaster that has made the problem worse, not better. Their approach was lazy and not close to being complete or effective. When we desperately called a different pest control company (Pacific Exterminator) they presented us with a complete analysis of the situation and a detailed plan for a solution. This was before they did their first treatment. The cost was the same as it was for what we wasted with Ventura Pest Control. NEVER use Ventura Pest Control!! read more

Ventura pest control installed netting to prevent swallows from building mud nests on our home and they not only did a great job, but they were prompt and reliable. Ryan was great during the initial consultation, Miguel did a great job installing the netting and Jenny was very nice on the phone when making the payment. Ryan was knowledgeable and was very honest about our options. He came over the same day that we called, which was really important since the swallows were moving fast. Miguel was the technician who installed the netting and he really did an amazing job. Overall, would recommend their services and would use them again for future needs. I just wanted to say I would not recommend this company to any one. I was with Robinson Pest Control for over 19 years they were wonderful. Unfortunately Mike they owner sold his business to Ventura Peat Control they have been servicing my home for the last 5 months and I have noticed more spiders then I did with Mike. I have called Ventura to let them know about my problem I have left countless of message and never got a return call and when I have talked to someone there they assured me that the manager would call me back. Once again they never called me back also when I called today to cancel my service with them the young lady that answered the phone seem to only care about my balance due never once did she ask me for the resin why I was cancelling my service with she only cared about the balance due. I am a service manager for over 45 years and if one of my customers was upset with services rendered I would be concerned and would go out my way to make it right. I have changed my review from 1 star to 4 because of Liz at the office and Kelly, their supervising manager. Both of these women were on the phone with us repeatedly yesterday to try and resolve the issue. After much discussion, Kelly made the time to come to our house this morning and do the treatments herself so we wouldn't have to do the preparation of our home again in a week. Kelly was super professional, punctual, knowledgeable and communicative about everything she was going to do to our home. I am very grateful for the level of care that was given to us to resolve our issue. Previous post: This is the WORST experience I have had with a business. I wanted to be clear with what we had to do to prepare our home for them to come, so my husband called to ask - do we need to clear out cabinets? Move furniture? Etc. The person on the phone said she didn't know, so to wait for the exterminator to come and tell us. We tried to prepare anyway, having past experiences with exterminators. We moved furniture away from the walls and cleared out most of our kitchen cabinets. This morning, the exterminator came and said our house was unprepared. We explained the situation and said we were happy to do whatever else needed to be done. He said he needed to make a phone call, and left. He LEFT. Not only did he leave, he left our front door wide open. This is SO unacceptable - this was incredibly unsafe for my family, especially my toddler. No explanation, no goodbye, no extermination. We have called the office and are getting nowhere with getting someone else to come, because they are prioritizing other appointments. We have prepared our entire home, taken the day off work, my 1-year-old is packed and ready to go to grandma's house... and now we have to reschedule it all and do it again. read more

As a condition of my home sale there was a termite repair & tenting requirement. Ventura Pest Control did have the best price, however both portions of the service were outsourced & the work was shoddy at best. The repairman set up shop on my newly sodded lawn (vs. the 800 sq. ft. of concrete available) and always had his cell phone to his ear. Much of the replaced wood & metal was left where ever it landed (bushes, driveway, etc.). The only issue with the tenting is that ten feet of bushes that was previously covering the property border wall was removed & left hanging. By the way, "repair" doesn't include the removed roofing. This is in fact eluded to on page #2 of the contract, however conveniently not discussed with the customer service rep. read more

Ventura pest control is really amazing. I receive a monthly service from them for spider control. It took a few months for me to really see the difference. I've been very satisfied with the professionalism and flexibility of the team...they are truly an amazing company in Ventura county Pest Control is awesome!
