O how I love blondes because they are ever so memorable. Today will be my last experience visiting Ventura's offshore cafe. As a result of the covid 19 closing my workplace, I had to resort to different measures of caring for my family. I stopped in to day to pick up in order for grub hub. As soon as I walked in the door she's busting my chops about how I have to place this order instead of the order being placed through grub hub itself. That I have nothing to do with but I had to walk in placed the order and wait. I forgot the pizza so I called to see if I can come back and get it because the weights they have didn't bring it out to me which was heard by the way. So she answers the phone and proceeds to lay me out by saying next time you should remember to pick up the pizza. Will you are the one who brought it out to the car. I will never ever support this restaurant ever and this is my 2nd time in I am not a fan. You were the one making so much noise and you couldn't even admit that it's partially your fault that you didn't bring out the complete order. Yes I was preoccupied and forgot the pizza but thank you for scream in and yelling when you brought it out to me. I will never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone read more

It makes me so sad to have to write this review, but the service here has deteriorated greatly in the last few months. We used to come here all the time (from the area) and never had any issue! But last weekend, we came to the bar for a few drinks and were treated poorly which should be rare for a place like this.. Please make sure your bartenders 1) know the beers that are on tap that day and 2) treat patrons like patrons. We were hoping to watch a game on tv and not given a legitimate reason why it wasn't being put on. If we were told something like "it's difficult to change the channels" that would have made total sense, but instead we were treated rudely. I have to admit I was here only one time. So, with that said I had a great time and the food was over the top. I did want to sit at the bar for Happy Hour but it was packed. The wait for four was short (20 mins) right before 6. The waitress was pleasant and the menu was big, so bring your reading glasses. I had the Eggplant Parmigiana & Cappellini it was excellent! The rest of the party has an assortment of small plates items and they were all very good. Planning on going to the Happy Hour on our next trip there before the summer is over. Ordered takeout and was left disappointed. Typically, my experience with dine-in has been better. The "fish taco" is just a huge piece of fried fish served on the most doughy large pita I've ever seen. We also got a salad with steak, which was extremely chewy. The south jersey area is not an area for foodies. It is difficult to find good food in nice locations for decent price points. Now this place doesn't serve 5 star food, but it does give you awesome bang for your buck in a comfy setting. It's my go to bar after work or on lazy Sundays with my girlfriends. Go for all day Sunday happy hour. The mussels are a must, as well as the skinny juju wraps. You can order pasta on the side for the mussels to make it a rounded meal, but the mussels dish is so humongous on its own that you can share between two people for only 8 bucks!!! I also remember, and this is honestly amazing that they can afford to do this, but during the off season they will set out FREE pizza and pasta near the bar area and anyone who's drinking at the bar can help themselves. FREE PIZZA AND PASTA. And it's not cheap microwaved pizza, this stuff is quality home made. I gushed about this to anyone who would listen and told them to drop by after 5pm Monday through Friday to get in on this crazy set up. When our party asked for a recommendation of a good place to get a drink and a great meal, we received this restaurant from a local and it did not disappoint. If the boardwalk is where the tourists go, Ventura's is where the locals go. We enjoyed their house ale and a few regional brews on tap and had a full plate of wings...very large and tasty I should add...before moving on to the main course. We all enjoyed the award winning Caesar salad which was delicious and an awesome plate of pizza bread before our main entrees. I had an enormous plate of the linguini seafood fra diavolo that was cooked to my liking and I was only able to eat about a third of the plate, and I'm a pretty good eater! There was at least another pound of noodles and salmon I couldn't finish. If you like seafood, you'll love this dish. My friends each enjoyed the veal parmigiana and the mahi mahi stuffed with crabmeat over asparagus with a huge baked potato. The portions were hearty and they were both quite stuffed after a satisfying meal. All entrees were plated nicely. We were offered dessert, but had to decline as we were too full! While we were hoping for more beer choices at this restaurant and tavern either on tap or in a bottle, we enjoyed our drinks and the food was just outstanding. The staff was attentive and polite, they honored my Yelp! discount offer I had just purchased, and the liquor store on site was a nice place to find something to take home. It was my first, and so far only, visit to Ventura's, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised. The steak I had here was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. I went with the New York Strip, and upon recommendation got the "Peppercorn" signature sauce on the side. Let me preface this by saying that I am in no way, shape, or form a sauce on steak type of guy. I like my steak lightly salted and peppered and think that the flavor should speak for itself. However, this Peppercorn sauce was absolutely unreal - I would pay for the recipe. It brought the well-cooked, tender steak to a new level of good - and I devoured it. Aside from the food, the restaurant itself is nice and service is friendly. We sat in the room with a large fireplace and I really enjoyed it. They took the Chicken Cesar salad wrap off the menu.. they only have a turkey wrap now. I was craving a Cesar wrap so I asked and the chef wouldn't do it. Why. this rating is only for the takeout I had for my take out dinner it was called the summer salad with shrimp grilled shrimp tomatoes cucumbers dressing. Didn't check it out because everything I've eaten there is good but when I get home for dinner they were only three shrimp that were barely cooked if you can say cooked and some of the cucumbers were slimy inside so of course I couldn't eat it. I called the next day and talk to the manager around 2 o'clock in the afternoon and I was told that normally they don't give refunds or anything unless it you bring the food back I said well I don't usually return food so I didn't know to bring it back. So she said well we can offer you gift card thinking that the gift card was going to be for the $18 I paid for an over priced under cooked meal when I got the gift card it was for seven dollars and I was like a slap in the face insult to me gonna call and find out why this happened it should not have happened at all like that. Went here yesterday with my friend as it was her birthday and she wanted to come here after I raved about how good it was. Well, we got dressed up and I even did her hair and makeup and we got to the restaurant at 7 pm. We had eaten light the whole day so we could enjoy a nice dinner so we were very hungry and excited to order food and drinks. When we went inside there was a couple in front of us and they talked to the hostess and then turned around to leave. I was curious as to why until we then told the hostess we had two people for a table and she told me they closed the kitchen early as they were slow all day. It did snow for most of the morning but it had stopped around 2 pm and the roads were clear. It snowed a few inches too, maybe, it wasn't a huge snow storm. I was extremely confused how a restaurant that normally closes at 11 pm, would be closed at 7 pm which seems like a normal busy dinner time. Mind you, the parking lot was full of cars and there were people coming in after us after we stood there now not knowing where to go since we had planned for over a week to come here. The hostess said the bar was still open but we couldn't order food. I'm not sure how you keep a place open for just the bar and then have to turn every person away who came there to dine. Long story short, my friend was extremely upset because her birthday plans were ruined and we did not have a back up plan of where to go. We then went out to sit in her car and try and figure out where else to go. As we were deciding, plenty more cars and people came into the restaurant which I'm sure were also turned away. If I wanted to go to a bar, I would've went to a bar. I came here specifically for a nice birthday dinner only to be disappointed. I am only giving this review two stars because the food is good here but this occurrence definitely made me second guess coming back here. Another friend also told me this isn't the first time they have done this which is also really disappointing. I'm not one to complain about restaurants if the food isn't as great one time or, something along those lines but this really got under my skin. They lost a lot of business from me and I'm sure the other people who were also turned down. P.S. We went to Tacos El Tio instead and it was a great experience. Highly recommend them to anyone! This place is wonderful. We had to wait a bit for a table but it was well worth it. There seems to be a lot of locals that eat here and a full parking lot, so we took that as a good sign. I ordered the Linguine Seafood Fra Diavolo and that was the best decision I have ever made. It was $29 and it had about 4 shrimp, 6 scallops, 6 clams, 30 mussels, 20 rings of calamari and a filet of white fish all cooked in a delicious wine sauce on top of a bed of linguine. My family and I ordered takeout from Ventura's tonight wanting our order deferred for 6 pm which the website offered. We arrived at the restaurant and they said they had no record of our order even though we had a confirmation email. They asked to see the order and said they would put a rush on the order and that it would be ready in ten minutes. Thirty minutes later the food was ready but what really upset us was that there was no apology or sympathy given. When we arrived home and opened the bags, there were no soups, salads, or bread that was described to come with our entrees when ordering on website. We were really disappointed considering we had paid for these items. This place is a joke right? All you reviewers beneath me are joking? God.Awful. That is what comes to mind when I think of this place, and I will tell you why. My family and I wanted to go out to dinner on Sunday night, we wanted to get away from all the crowds in Somer's Point, so we headed to Northfield and ended up at Ventura's. I guess what should have been the first warning was that they told us the wait would be up to an hour...but we figured, rather than schleping around looking for something else, we'll just wait. The hour soon turned into an hour and a half...womp. Anyway, while we were waiting my sister in law and I wandered into the packaged goods place next door (the only good thing about this entire experience) to look for some relief from the horror in the form of a bottle of wine. The wine was decent but the woman working the counter was such a B*tch it was ridiculous...like look lady I'm sorry you're older and have to work here, but it's not my problem. Anyway, so what feels like a million years later we finally get seated, and it's an incredibly awkward table by the bathroom that forced my mom to sit in the aisle between booths...like what? So we all start to peruse the menu...hmm $26 for beef raviolis?! That basically is going to mean 1 of 2 things 1.) these are the greatest raviolis every created from kobe beef out of Australia or 2.) they are wildly overpriced, over salted, and over sauced crappy little beef puree pillows...you guess which it was. My mom got eggplant parm (basically impossible to F up and she barely ate it) and I could have made a better veal piccata with my eyes closed. Here is the thing: I am absolutely the first and most willing person to shell out $200 on a meal that is worth it, it's just that this stuff wasn't worth it. I don't know if it's just because there is nothing else to compare it to on the southern shores of NJ or what, but for the love of all things holy and Italian if you think this is even passable as good italian food especially in NJ....I feel really bad for you, and you need to get your butt elsewhere STAT. Any place that offers little slices of pizza in their bread basket is alright in my book! But seriously, this place is consistently great. I have been coming here for about three years, and the food has never disappointed. The broccoli rabe appetizer is delicious. I have to order it every time I am there. My husband is a fan of either the mussels or clams & linguine. I recently had the chicken parm and it was great. The portions are quite large. The ambiance is nice...the restaurant is very nicely decorated. And for those interested in one-stop shopping, there is a nice liquor store attached. read more

Ventura's Offshizzle is a nice place to fall back on if other places around (Somers Point, etc) are overly backed-up with sh00bies. Rarely is there a long wait - not because it is unpopular, but simply because it seats a lot of people. They serve late on the weekends which is cool. That gives you time to realize the wait for that place you orignally tried in Somers Point is not worth it. The prices are all over the place, but, if the price is high, you can bet the serving size is pretty dang big. I typically get one of two things, so while I might not be able to give the best overall review, my wife has gotten many more things, so my intel is decent. I like the cheesesteak special. I know, I know, of all the culinarily (?) creative things on there, that sandwich is at the bottom, but man is it good. Yes, it is $13, but it will feed you for 2-3 meals, at least. So the value is not lost! I've gotten it prepared two different ways, I guess a result of two different cooks, but both were equally good. The first way was where the rib eye was SUPER thin and chopped quite a bit. The second was a bit thicker cut and barely chopped. It comes with tons of peppers, onions, mushrooms and, most importantly, ample provolone. The roll is slightly toasted, so it's slightly crips on the outside and very soft inside. Served with chips and pickles, you are surely going to need to take a lot of sandwich home. The second thing I really like from here is the chicken parm. The chicken portion is huge and fried just right, the sauce is deep red - simple but very good. I usually get the side of pasta with garlic and olive oil. It can get messy - as a combination with the chicken it is fantastic and well worth the mess. Just fashion a napkin as a bib and you'll be OK. My only beefs with this spot are that it can get pretty damn noisy, mostly due to the bar, and the lemonade is weak sauce to the max. I think it is made in the kitchen or at the bar, which typically translates to a nice drink, but it's bland as heck and not nearly worth the price. I would let the severe strength issue slide if it were free refills, but it is not, so no sliding permitted! read more

I just had my wedding dinner at Ventura's and I commend this place greatly. If you chose to have an occasion dinner at Ventura's, they will treat you with the highest regard. I was so pleased by their service and paired with the excellent food (that night I ordered the blackened chicken caesar salad which was divine, and the oak-grilled steak with shrimp and tomatoes, the Nicolena Adobo (AMAZING) which is a pita-like bread topped with arugula salad, pesto, creamy white dressing, shrimp, and something else-I forget, and of COURSE the red pizza bread) which made my special wedding night even more divine. They are so accommodating to special occasions, and the beautiful dining room has a rustic yet modern approach which is so comfortable when you're seated in front of the hearth and below the unique rotating fans which add to an even more beautiful scene. We sipped on champagne and they waited on us hand-and-foot and really did an excellent job. I love Ventura's, even if you have no reservation and have to wait a little while, it's well worth it. PS: Please have dessert. I think their banana's foster is one of the best finishes I've ever had to a meal. read more

We have been customers of Ventura's Offshore for many years and have always been quite satisfied with their food and service. We visited last night with my daughter and 3 of her friends for a birthday celebration. Later that evening two of the people in our party become violently ill and we deduced that it was due to the crab roll appetizer. I contacted the manager today to make them aware of this food poisoning incident. The manager was very unapologetic and defensive. She never even said she would alert the kitchen or that she would look into it. We are writing this review because of the inappropriate attitude she exhibited. read more

Went here with my boyfriend for dinner. Food was very good, pizza bread was excellent, dessert was great, service was okay but the place was busy on a Saturday night so that was to be expected. Overall we were really satisfied with our experience and food; except for one thing - if you're paying $100 for a meal for two people I feel as though you should at least be given a different fork between your appetizer, salad and entree. When the waitress took away our appetizer and told us to hang onto our forks, which were covered in marinara sauce, for our salad we were a surprised. For the prices you're paying and the slightly more upscale atmosphere you should at least be given a cloth napkin and a new fork. read more

Some great words for Ventura's are [ HEAVILY OVER SEASONED ] . I have dined here twice and the food on the second go around was not good at all. I tried the Blackened Chicken Alfredo. Yes, everyone seems to rave about the pizza bread, but it's all too much before your dinner is served. When the Alfredo arrived the pasta and chicken were swimming in Alfredo. After a few bites I noticed how salty everything was and I quickly reached for the glass of water. Who was cooking........ Emeril? Easy on the fucking seasoning. I don't need a shopping cart full of cheese to taste the god damn Alfredo. Salad was very fresh and good. It certainly saved it from a 1 star review. read more
