Ralph and two helpers came and very quickly got to work, cut down the fan palm which was touching our house and next to a fence. Not the easiest job. They cleaned up all debris and even rinsed the window for us. Highly recommended!

The issue is not with the actual work, but rather the business model and lack of communication. We have since moved on to another gardening service. Luis wants guaranteed business by charging a monthly fee to show up 2x/month year round. However, for simple lawn/hedge trimming and leaf clean-up, the amount he charges does not make sense. We struck a deal with him for ad hoc service, because nothing grows in the dry months of summer. However, we had a "no-call, no-show" during the rainy season when he had told us multiple weeks in a row that he would come by. When he finally showed up weeks later, he decided to charge us TWICE for overgrowth. Had he shown up the first time he said he would, that would not have happened. It seems he decided our business was no longer worth his time, so he decided to extract the most cash he could from us before we moved on. Needless to say, I cannot recommend Lona's to anyone after this experience.

We went through the stuff to trash and to keep. Fortunately for me he had some time the same week. He is very responsive when texting. On the day of the service, he gave me a heads up that he was running a little late, and adjusted the start time which he did keep. Please don't hold that against him! As a person, he is very polite, attentive to any concerns you may have, and overall seems like a very kind hearted individual. He was working with his Father, and had a couple of gentlemen to stop by to help pick up some of the heavier items. Look at the plant maintenance at CVS shopping center 1888 Pacific Coast Highway, you'll see their ongoing quality of care. Check plants added for landscaping. Bougainvillea where a low small spreading plant should be used. Probably 20x. Unbelievable!

This year we called on them again and Rodney returned our phone call right away. Rodney is very polite and professional over the phone and is very easy to work with.We had an enormous ficus tree that was at least 20 years old we wanted cut down. He provided an estimate in a timely manner and was very reasonable. The next morning the crew of 2 arrived 30 min early (better early than late). They immediately got to work.They are prompt, friendly, courteous, respectful, professional, fast and efficient. We live on a lot with 10 houses that had several assorted trees, palms, ficus, and fruit trees, many were over 30 years old and enormous that needed to be cut down or cut back, they did such a good job, they were hired to come back and do the whole lot! They returned first thing in the morning with just a few more people and again Immediately started working and had all the trees cut in one day! I couldn't get over how some of the trees they cut down, didn't even look like a tree was ever there and how they cut specific trees exactly the way we wanted them. These guys are amazing and do an amazing job! We definitely refer them and will call on them again! 3/14/19 Called on their services again to cut down an enormous tree, and as always Rodney was courteous and quick to response for a quote. Besides not wearing mask or socially distancing, they left behind an unfinished work after taking the money for it. The promise was to remove all the brush along the fence of the property, which included the removal of the roots, the old wooden fence, and hauling away all the trash and the green waste. Rodney was condescending and rude. After promising to finish the job in one day and failing to do so, he demanded the payment and practically bullied me into giving him the money. Subsequently, on the second day, Rodney started backtracking on his promises, falsely claiming that certain plants weren't included and he wasn't going to remove them. When the agreement was originally made, Rodney's exact words were "I will clean everything out and it will look brand new". The word "everything " was used repeatedly and there were no particular plants that weren't included in the removal. Rodney started demanding more money for the job he initially agreed to do. The bottom line is that if what we were offering to pay for the work wasn't enough, he could've simply said no and we would've gone our separate ways. Instead, Rodney accepted the payment, gave his word and in the end didn't keep it. The attached pictures show what Hala's Tree Care left behind after promising "clean and brand new" area.

My husband was impressed with how knowledgeable he was and proceeded to get an appointment for completion of the work. Today Gustavo's son, Fabio arrived with three other men and they quickly got the job done. Gustavo came by as well. I can't remember a home project that ever went so smoothly. The quality of the work and the professionalism of the crew was truly outstanding!
