A recent visit with a low mintage gold 1/10 eagle and a roll of 90% Kennedy hqalf dollars. I was paid 70% of melt for the halfs, and 97% of gold bullion for the eagle. Gold, (as well as silver) eagles have never been sold, or bought, without a premium. That's because they are valued above other countries coinage. Also, paying 70% of melt for 90% silver is insulting since my past experience has been 85%. People that do this understand that buyers like Steve don't get full melt from the refinery and he does have a business to run. However his change in policies regarding the valuation of items brought into his store, make sellers like me question his opinion of a profit. Further, the argument that refineries have paused taking product, as well as offering reduced payment because of the rapid run up in precious metal valuation, and the consequent inundatition with jewelry, coins etc is and old one and prices, as well as common sense, have since adjusted. They will tell you your welcome to take it elsewhere and unfortunately, actually very regrettably for the first time, i guess I'll have to.

As the jeweler went to take it off my wrist, the clasp disintegrated in his hand. About one week later, while trying to secure the clasp on an 18 inch string of pearls, the clasp broke. Luckily, the pearls did no scatter. Palmer's repaired both pieces. The work was done quickly, perfectly and for a very reasonable cost. The interaction between customer & store owner was pleasant and friendly. The collection at Palmer's looked beautiful and of high quality.
