My wife and friends ended up at this restaurant after our first choice, the sushi restaurant next door, was packed solid. First and foremost, the parking lot is small and challenging to find a spot. This restaurant is a tad on the older side and run-down. Service was good but not great The menu, which came on what appeared to be handwritten, laminated cards, was different. The food was just okay for me and lacked flavor. The rest of our group did not care for it one bit. My family and I came here for my Godmothers birthday and we made a reservation at 2pm. We have been coming here for years and loved this place like it was going to another home. The workers know my family and have been working there for over 15 years. Yesterday was our last time ever coming here. We were told that since we were 15 mins late to our reservation we would have to sit in separate tables because they had to accompany the our reservations that were scheduled that day. We understand that policies happen but through our whole lunch experience there, there were no parties sitting at the huge tables. We rushed our lunch feeling like we have bothered the staff, and there were no reservations coming in. My family and I sat at different tables and we felt targeted by the staff that they wanted us to rush out. I feel heartbroken and sad because this is a place we always would come to and plan to come to. I live in Long Beach and I drive to come here for a little of my childhood experience. I remember the workers being here when I was little, but maybe they need another job because they are all very grouchy now I was super excited to see these workers that were here when I was younger, but now they all have attitude. I don't ever like telling someone they should find another job, but you should find another job because obviously the servers here are burned out. Hospitality is now hostile. This sucks because this used to be a great place but the attitudes have soiled the food. I hope they read this message and I hope that they really change their attitude for the next people. And if you look at my profile, I never write reviews so this one hurts lol I don't know who the hostess name was, but he was the one who lied to us saying that there was another party coming in, but there wasn't he just didn't wanna give us the big table. First time eating here yesterday and really disappointed in the food. Ordered a chili colorado burrito it was all beans and hard tasteless cubes of pork. Been eating chili colorado burritos for decades never had one with pork always chunks of beef, always. $14 for pork. Husband had crab enchiladas he said we're horrible and honestly he never complains about food. He was pretty disgusted. Who knows what was in those enchiladas. Maybe canned crab, maybe frozen, maybe tuna who knows. What was good was their service, excellent guys. Their chips and salsa so delicious. Unfortunately we won't be going back. I'd been going here for years, and I mean years, but later on my mother got an actual rat dropping in her food. The waitor dropped it and we think it was on purpose so we couldn't get it tested, also the waiter has very long bracelets that actively get inside the food while he hands it to you. Walked in at about 2:45pm on a Wednesday and not one customer in sight. Perfect, just the way I like it. I enjoy going to places during non peak hours. We were sat right in front of there silverware rolling table, right behind that was their bus tubs FULL of dirty dishes from their lunch rush and the restrooms. Again, we were the only people in there. Why would you seat us in that spot? Our server didn't look happy to see us at all. Not a "hi", a "hello", nothing. Just got two menus and plopped them down. He brought chips n salsa. The chips were the broken up ones, but they were hot and good. He then said, "anything to drink?" Finally, he spoke! He then comes back 12min later to get our order. He must've been eating his lunch, because we were in full convo at this time, because we didn't know if he was coming back to get our order. We eat at this establishment probably 9 times a year. It used to be more, but service lacks. I enjoy ordering from them Togo. Ok, back to topic, he brings out the order pretty quickly and the food is piping hot and he brings more chips, they were not broken up this time. Boy oh boy, was the food on point!! So yummy! Hubs got the #39- shredded beef chimichanga. It is huge and amazing. He's been ordering this item since he was in high school. I had the shredded beef taco, cheese enchilada and chili relleno w/ R&B (rice n beans) I don't know my number, because I order different combos all the time. Those three items sling with the shredded beef tamale and shredded beef enchilada are amazing!! The chimichanga comes with sour cream and guacamole, but he gets it on the side, because he doesn't ever eat it all and it wouldn't be appealing to the eye the next day in the box or if you were to micro it with that stuff on it. It's about $13.65, if you want R&B with it it's like $5 more, so since he never finishes it I give him some of my R&B if he wants some. Our server NEVER came back to check on us. Not a once! Maybe, because a family of 3 came in and a single man by himself. Idk. After we sat there for about 10min done, we finally flagged him down for 2 boxes. He brought the check, that was the fastest I seen him move, we paid, he then all of a sudden started to speak to us. He was very friendly and asked if we needed a bag. Maybe he as just hangry at the time we came in. He was nice, with the little interaction we had and not rude. The food was delish and we will def go back. The restroom was clean it's just old. Again, we sat right by the restrooms, the sidework table and the dirty dishes. I just wish the dirty dishes with half eaten food would've been completely of view. Didn't enjoy seeing that before I had eaten. There is plenty of parking, the place is old school looking and outdated, but it's homey and comfy cozy. It's a homemade meal. We just love it! read more

Recently move to the area and was looking for a good Mexican restaurant to enjoy good food and good margaritas. When we first arrived the first thing I noticed was it was very dark inside and tables felt tight together. I believe it was the bar area didn't even have lights on. There is tons of choices on the menu I opted for my favorite chile relleno, taco, and rice and bean. The food was good, hot, and you could tell homemade. The only thing I didn't care for was the seeds were not removed from the chili (didn't stop me from enjoying it). As far as the margarita it was bad. For $10.00 it was so sweet and had the color of green Gatorade. Next time I'll probably do take out as the food was good. Hats off to the servers they were nice and very attentive. read more

Great classic, authentic food, something for everyone ! Been coming here for years, and am so happy they survived COVID. This is family owned, and a lot of the employees I believe are relatives, it feels good to support local. Really love the food here, but it's funny people come here for the drinks, we come here for the food!!! Suggest the tacquitos, beef tacos #8, and arroz con pollo. The menudo is delicious as well. This place gets busy at night so set aside ample time. On the smaller scale, cozy, and seating is probably the most comfortable at 4 ppl per booth. read more

Menu- Never seen a handwritten menu which was kind of cool. The menu also has about 102 items! Service - There seemed to be one waiter for about 10 full tables. He did a great job at balancing his service. Kudos to him! Food - Was what I expected. Salsa was very good. Taco with shredded beef was good, cheese enchilada good, chile relleno good. Me and my family absolutely love Veracruz we usually go to Santa Fe springs but we now live closer to this location so we gave it a shot. Customer service was absolutely TERRIBLE. There was one guy doing everything props to him for holding it down (older Hispanic male). Now the younger male with curly hair was doing absolutely nothing to help but having full conversations with different people. The place was not busy whatsoever still took us 5 mins to get seated. Refills were never an option, extra napkins was never an option, and straws were never an option because there no one to help us or anybody good luck getting someone attention. Even trying to pay our bill just standing there dazing off at the ceiling because the young male wants to have a conversation. Sadly customer service was terrible because the food was a lot better than Santa Fe springs. read more

Not my first choice for a place to eat, but it's not the worst either. My main concern is how quickly the food comes out, especially with such a large, handwritten menu. I have to start off with mentioning that the service was unsatisfactory. The waiter tried to interact with my table as little as possible, being rude every time he did have to take our order/talk to us. I went during lunch time and there was only a few other tables seated, it was a pretty quiet experience. The chips and salsa are decent, with a very tomato-y flavor. The menu had an overwhelming amount of options, though it can be beneficial for picky eaters. I am neutral about my carne asada soft tacos because they were not the most flavorful, but not entirely bland either. The rice and beans were both delicious. Overall, Veracruz Mexican Restaurant deserves a solid 3 stars. read more

Wife went there for lunch with a friend. She ordered the Shrimp enchiladas. Apparently they mixed a few decent sized shrimp with baby shrimp. $20 for 1 enchilada. She said the service was good and the food was decent but who is going to pay $20 for an enchilada that is mixed with baby shrimp. The food came out in 5 minutes. Precooked obviously. Left over chips that were cold. Salsa was tomatoes and onion. The Santa Fe Springs location was excellent in the 80's. $65 for a mediocre lunch. If you want to pay $60 for mediocre food go to El Cholo's in La Habra. read more

Very disappointing experience. I have never been to this location, and it was a complete let down. Not only did I get something different than what I asked for, but the waiter never acknowledged the full plate that was left over. I'm not the type to send anything back but figured a question would be asked when the whole plate was left over, but no. In fact the waiter never came over until we called for him and that was for the bill because we were over it. Not once did we get a drink refilled as well. SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE... This place is literally 10 minutes from me and I have NEVER been here. It was a warm Saturday afternoon in the Heights. Warm enough to make you want the pool or an ice cold margarita. The pool could wait...to YELP I went and soon discovered people who had posted pics of Veracruz. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and surprisingly didn't have to wait to be seated. The parking was plentiful right outside the door. The service was friendly, The food tasty, the salsas were flavorful. Parking ample, priced affordable...ambiance quite what you would expect, complete with sudle music.
