The salsas also tasted fresh, but they were pretty bland and had almost no spice or kick to them. The biggest disappointment was the premium arrachera burrito. For $17.50, I expected the meat to be the highlight, but instead the burrito was mostly rice and beans. The filling was also very soft and mushy overall. The arrachera itself was chopped into tiny, fatty pieces with very little flavor, and it got completely lost among the rice and beans. It didn't have the grilled, seasoned beef flavor I was expecting from a premium burrito. Maybe this is the new standard, or maybe California food costs are forcing restaurants to cut corners to keep prices where they are--I honestly don't know. But at $17.50, I expected a lot more meat and a lot more flavor. I don't mind paying premium prices for premium food, but this just didn't feel like a premium burrito. The fresh ingredients, fast service, and friendly staff were all appreciated, but the burrito itself didn't live up to the price or the reputation.

It was very heavy, greasy and difficult to enjoy. The chips was a plus where you can rip the taco and place it on the chip. If you want something heavy, this sumo is for you. A bit heavy to my liking, so you might want to try a regular taco or burrito. But then again, it's called sumo for a reason. Curious if this spot would experiment with gorditas, a crisp tortilla. When I clarified what I wanted, she simply stared at me and tossed the meat onto the grill with a terrible attitude, no "sure thing" or acknowledgment, and certainly no apology. Then, when I asked to have my carnitas crispier, she threw them on the grill, but once they were done, she mixed them back in with the rest of the meat on the line instead of using the extra-cooked batch to make my tacos. It completely defeated the purpose of the request and felt genuinely spiteful. As someone with a background in customer service, I know how important attitude and professionalism are.
