Late Tuesday evening and with a taste for the Mediterranean cuisine, we stopped in to the beautifully decorated Veranda Restaurant. With the weather in our favor, outdoor seating was best. Our server Gregory was amazing, as was the manager Niko, both super friendly. The food is WOW. We really enjoyed it all.Our drinks were made perfect as well. I usually come here after going to Benz to service my car, I always sit outside and enjoy the sound from the water fall. I order the mango salad or the skirt steak salad. For apps there guacamole and chips with a Lycee martini. The food isn't OMG amazing but it's okay if your in the area. The service is okay they get packed toward later in the evenings. I give them 2 stars for the outside sitting and for the water fall they have outside as well. If it wasn't for both of those things I would give 1 star, they are pretty expensive as well. read more

We tried the first time. , we were serve by an old waiter who was very unfriendly and shows no hospitality at all , serve us a steak that was over dry and overcook but we ordered medium rare, , he changed it but no apology, like we owe him something. Despite it being across from a BMW dealership, it still has a wonderful ambience. The space is large, and gives the feeling of Mediterranean tranquility. We all weren't that hungry since we had eaten not too long ago. I started off with a caprinha. Nice and strong. It was in a tall, big glass and I forgot that in Queens your money goes for more. I ordered up a salad sampler and it was very good. One salad had baby spinach, cranberries, candied walnuts and shaved parmesan cheese. The other salad had watercress, endive, apples, and goat cheese. It also came with an Asian noodle salad. Fresh, tasty and just what I needed for the day. Lots of green and not a lot of calories. My uncle got a sea bass that was extremely fresh, moist and tasty. My uncle is a food expert and he enjoted his dish thoroughly. It is passes my uncle's test, then this place passes my test. Back to 4 stars based on my companions' enjoyment of Veranda's service and food. Mine would be 3 stars as my meal was incomplete. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes. No lemon or ricotta could be found. Asked for berry sauce on the side. No berry sauce on the plate. Asked about the lemon ricotta and was told it was in the pancake (UH, NO!!!) Pancakes were very good, but not what I ordered. My friend's halloumi frittata was outrageously good and other orders of French toast and a grilled chicken sandwich were satisfying. It's 10am on a beautiful Sunday and my assistant and I are stuck indoors, working. After 10 minutes of stomachs growling and staring out of the window, we came to a collective decision that we would say "F work, we going to brunch".... at least get out the office for like an hour. The outside seating area gives off a relaxing vibe with lots of greenery, comfortable wicker chairs, marble tabletops and a small waterfall. The indoor dining room is large and decorated beautifully as well. We walked into the patio area confused as to what we should do; there were no signs indicating whether or not we should seat ourselves. After standing around for 30 awkward seconds, I decided to just find a table for us. As we approached the table, my assistant noticed a man flagging us down. He informed us we could sit at the table we had picked and handed us menus and a basket of warm pita bread with hummus and feta cheese dips, Yum! We were both starving, so you know that bread was done in like 3 minutes. They had a special Fathers Day menu so I ordered the vanilla challah french toast with fresh mixed berries and my assistant got a spinach and cheddar cheese omelet. It took about 15 minutes for our food to come and boy did we get alot of food! I was surprised and happy at the portions size (my greedy ass lol). My first two slices of french toast were crisp on the outside and slightly moist on the inside, perfection! The accommodating blackberries, blueberries and strawberries were a great addition. Once I cut into the last piece of french toast I noticed it was very mushy. Not from the syrup but like under done a bit, so I didn't eat that one. My assistant enjoyed her omelet and accompanying hash browns but noticed towards the end of her meal that her omelet wasn't cooked all the way through. I stopped by with my GF, daughter and her godfather for brunch. it was a great day and sitting outdoors in the shade in the great outdoor space was very appealing. Also appealing was the fact that they have valet parking. My daughter's pancake and GF's scrambled egg order looked great. My order was a hot mess and everyone else's was as good as mine. I ordered the humus wrap with french fries. I asked the waitress if they had whole wheat wrap to which she said no and that the hummus wrap actually came in a pita. So I asked for a whole wheat pita. A reasonable amount of time later our food came out. The GF loved her perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, my daughter barely touched her gorgeous pancake display and I stared at the non-whole wheat wrap that the humus wrap came in. The waitress was young and very nice to there was no need to ruin her Sunday morning. So I just kept quite and dealt with the wrap. My hummus was flavorless and excessive. Clearly the chef studied at the University Vitae, College of Diners. All our dishes had that diner-esque pizzaz to them. The fries were small, show-string type and burnt. This is an okay place to go if you live in the neighborhood and don't want to go out of the way to go to better brunch places. The service was great and the place is very spacious and comfy. As for the food, it was just OKAY. I started off with an orange juice ($3) and I wished it was freshly squeezed, but it was just straight from Tropicana bottles. I also ordered the Mediterranean Omelette which was really mediocre...nothing special at all. I have been driving past this place for a long time now. The mixed reviews and menu deterred me from trying it out. However, New Year's day the Mr. and I wanted to go out with our baby for a nice brunch to kick off 2014. Often times we go somewhere casual and quickly inhale our meal and rush out. We walked into Veranda and it was still nicely decorated with holiday sparkle and felt really inviting. We got seated right away and the manger swiftly helped us with a high chair while the waiter seated us with menus. It was just the right atmosphere. Even though the restaurant was half full it was not noisy. Just families and friends having intimate conversations and enjoying their food. It is a nice restaurant but doesn't feel formal or stuffy. On to the food. There were quite a few options for brunch/lunch. Some of the prices seemed way high especially since it didn't come with free coffee, juice or mimosa like some brunch time places have. We ordered the eggs benedict, berries french toast and a side of bacon, plus one coffee. After tax and tip it was $40. The food was pretty tasty but I did have a problem with my french toast being very underdone in the middle. I was willing to just eat it but the mister insisted on telling the manager. Of course we did it in the most respectful and polite way as I am I so fearful of getting a little extra spit topping for sending something back to the kitchen. The manager was really gracious and apologized for it. It took a really long time for my french toast to come back out but the manager kept checking in and telling us they were re-doing it. In the end the new dish was the same but manager explained that day's bread was different and therefore it was not cooking up correctly. We still ate most of it since he went through the trouble of giving me a new dish. Overall, it was a nice family friendly restaurant. Really nice venue! It looks bigger in pictures. In person, I was expecting a much larger and wider space. It's not bad at all. Looks like a lot of people like to hold large groups here. Initially, we wanted to dine outside but when we checked in, they already had our table laid out inside. Works for me since it started POURING outside. There was a bridal shower that was going on inside with at least six tables booked in the middle to front of the restaurant. A bit awkward because there was no privacy for them and everything is very open to the public. If only they offered some sort of barricade otherwise, many other guests could sign or take or write whatever on random things that should only belong to that party. Stroller and kid friendly. They automatically gave us plastic cups and straws for the two kids and we had enough space for the stroller next to us at the end of the table. It's a bit off though because wait staff would grab stuff OVER the stroller instead of doing it right next to us. Imagine if beverages or food just spill into the stroller parked next to us or even worst, on our child? I ordered the california omelette which is $17 and comes with fresh spinach, tomato, avocado, cheddar and shredded potatoes which I guess is their version of homefries. GIANT sized omelette with a heaping of toppings. It's good that they didn't skimp on this. Hubby's burger received a thumbs up. He requested medium rare but it came out medium. We ordered dessert as well: tartufo and ecmek. Tartufo was great to share with the kids and already came cut up into pieces - thank goodness. And loaded with whipped cream - kids' delight. The ecmek was interesting. Decided to be adventurous and try it. No description on menu but I think it's Greek and it appeared to be pie-like with loads of whipped cream on top, sprinkled chopped nuts, some sort of mashed consistency on the bottom with the baklava crunchiness...sorry that's the best I could describe it. A nice looking place with a lovely patio to dine al fresco. It's definitely an energetic noise level and while the music over the speakers is fine, it's a little on the loud side. Veranda seems to attract lots of families, especially on Father's Day, so the hostess wearing a too short, bra showing dress just didn't seem right to me; actually it looked a bit inappropriate. The service wasgreat. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, even with the 20 question he got from us in regards to the entrees. The menu offers a nice variety, but pricier than it probably needs to be. We ordered a bunch of apps for the table. The guacamole was creamy and really good, but wish it had been served with better tortilla chips than those round ones you find in the supermarket. The risotto croquettes were a little bland, but made well. The Greek spreads plate came with hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki and a garlic spread. The tzatziki was good, the garlic spread was potent and the others were just OK. The bread basket includes pita wedges and some delicious loaf bread. On to the main course...the Pork T-bone served over root veggies was tasty, but way overcooked. The branzino served with sauteed broccolini was quite tasty. The swordfish special was extremely fresh and wonderful and served with some stewed veggies. The only dish that came with a starch as a side was the salmon which was served with couscous. For dessert we shared creme brulee, apple crumb pie and chocolate cheesecake. Everything was good, but I wouldn't call it awesome. Servers and restaurant staff are very friendly. I have found to stick with the pasta, tried the steaks and veal; sub-par. The Mushroom Ravioli is pretty tasty and my personal favorite is the pulled chicken and mushroom gnocchi. The gnocchi is slightly browned crisp which gives it a different texture and it is not served in some crazy thick sauce. The fries here are very good, try with the wasabi mayo; you have to ask for this special. If you come during brunch, get the Yellow Fin Seared Tuna Sandwich. Tender seared tuna with bacon, cherry tomatoes and wasabi mayonnaise; surprisingly good. Thumbs up on the Creme Brulee, very good way to end your meal. read more

I have been coming to Veranda since its opening in 2009 and I've also written a review a couple of years ago. But it is time for an update! Over the weekend, my boyfriend and I had dinner there (after a long time of hiatus). I already was a fan of this place but I am even more in love with Veranda now. They have done a fantastic job upgrading their space- the greenery and flowers definitely make dining al fresco more inviting. I also noticed that they now have live music on Friday evenings (starting at 7 p.m.) which makes for a lovely addition in summer nights. Their service is good (a tad better than I remember). Their menu is great traditional Americana meets Greek diner but in a good way). The restaurant draws a mixed crowd: there were families, couples (young and old alike) and friends enjoying their meals. Veranda also offers plenty of refreshing cocktails. Almost everyone at the restaurant had one in hand. My boyfriend and I decided to share a sangria pitcher (choice of red or white). Dinner began with spinach pie from their appetizer menu (loved it!). For our main entree, we had the lobster risotto- a special for that evening and it was very satisfying. We also decided to have ecmek for dessert and we both really liked it as well. Dinner cost us $95 which is on the expensive side but it was worth it. We were seated at the bar while we waited for a table, which took about 10 minutes but we didn't mind because the host was extremely nice and brought us water while we waited. When we did get seated, they started us off with some warmed up pita bread and dip. We ended up ordering the California omelette with a side of sausage and the New York strip steak and eggs. The food came out quickly and the service was really on point. They checked on us several times while we dined and refilled our coffee and water as well. Prior to the meal, they give warm pita with a roasted red pepper hummus and spicy feta, extremely delicious!! The other menu items looked tasty as well as the tables dishes around us. I heard from a few people that the food is good but a little pricey. I split the zucchini chips appetizer, which was amazing! They were hot, lightly breaded, sliced really thin and delicious! The service there is amazing! The server always refill your bread and the great dips with it. I had the yellowfin tuna sandwich. I'm glad I asked for the wasabi mayo on the side.
