This is one of the freshest and tastiest burgers in town. Any Vera's I have visited all have been great. Juicy and fresh ingredients and a nice soft bun. I have done a lot of the burger places and restaurants in Vancouver but Vera's always seems to be at the top of the list. Have you ever been eating something with a group of people and you had to attempt to discreetly spit it out in a napkin since it was so gross and STALE? Well, I got to experience this yesterday with Vera's "catered" meal! Gross. I don't even know if we got it from the Kits' location but it was awful. So I had to guess on this one as that's the one which was the closest to the event. I am talking about the old awful croutons that ruined the Caesar Salad and made me want to vomit. And I had to spit it out into a napkin in front of my boss, which probably made me lose a point. The burger was okay, but the cheese I put on mine looked really old, too. Just as I had finished loading mine, they took out some "fresh" cheese. We had bottled water (provided by them) that was Safeway brand. It tasted off. The buns are always way too big for the burger. And the Caesar sauce? Is that what I've been eating on their burgers as their "special" sauce all of this time? Unfortunately, we did not get onion rings or fries, and the onion rings have always been my favourite thing about this place. A quick glance at the website shows me that my meal was around $12.00. Funny, that I just had IN-N-OUT for two, animal style (extra cheese and onions on both the fries and burgers) and a homemade shake for around $10.00. (plus airfare). And it was all fresh! I honestly don't understand how Vera's became so "big" except that the meat itself usually tastes fresh. That salad really turned me off, however, which is odd, since I just reviewed a burger place! I still think that White Spot is better, overall, here, which isn't saying a whole lot, really. ps-As I write this, I can't forget about the time I ordered food from here after watching the long-haired cooks WITHOUT hairnets who touched their sweaty faces, money and then food. I was really looking forward to liking this place; especially since there are such few options for a quick lunch around the area. My co workers come here often and say it's good but honestly for the price it was very underwhelming. I ordered the "Pawer" $11 which comes with a beef patty, fried egg, cheddar cheese, and fried onions. I combo-ed it up with yam fries and a strawberry milkshake for $11 extra. Let's start with the burger: The beef patty was dry and bland, the bun was also dry like it had been left out for a week. The fried egg was good since it was runny. However there were barely any onions in my burger. The lettuce and tomatoes were very fresh but altogether it was just a very bland burger, like they didn't put any salt in it? The worst were the yam fries, they were burnt. I ate 4 fries and stopped. Since I was on a lunch break from work, I didn't ask then to remake it for me. A $11 yam fries you'd expect better quality. The strawberry milkshake also tasted like whipped cream with barely any strawberry flavour. It wasn't thick like a real ice cream shake. The tables were also dirty and sticky, with leftover crumbs from previous customers. I love a good burger and had my first Vera burger at the 2009 Pride festival. The burger was *amazing*, juicy and flavorful. So, I decided to visit this Vera's location while out running errands. Hmmm, not that great. The service was mediocre - the guy had a very hard time understanding that we wanted one burger combo (with fries and drink) and one other burger (no fries or drink), "so, you want 2 combos?". No. "Oh, you want just two burgers and no fries?" No. "Oh, so you want just one combo and nothing else?" No. Seriously, it took about five minutes to place the order. I kid you not. I kept thinking to myself, 'is this really happening?'. Then, we waited. I was ok with the wait since it was being made fresh. You can see them making it, so I watched. I noticed that the person on bun duty was adding the ketchup/mayo to the buns while the burger cooked. When the order arrived, it was hot but lackluster. The burger wasn't juicy but instead a bit dry. And, since the bun guy was one step ahead of everyone else, the ketchup had fully absorbed into the bun ... so, a mushy tomato-infushed bun. Not ideal. It seriously tainted my desire to visit Vera's again. Next time, I'll try a different location and see how it matches up with this experience. read more

So this was my first experience at Vera's. First off, I ordered the taco bowl with chicken, which was pretty tasty. Although I didn't know it was going to come with tortilla chips on the side, as opposed to a tortilla bowl. It was kind of a bummer lol. My friend ordered burger and fries which she really enjoyed. The fries were so good. I couldn't stop picking at her food! The bummer was that the refillable pop was so flat. I like the casual ambiance of thier booths. Vera's burgers are fine. They make an effort to serve meaty patties with classic or unique flair -- depending on the burger you chose. I like to grab a burger to go and then eat it on the waterfront down at Kits. The chocolate milkshakes are delish, plus the Vic (with its double cheese and double onions) always tries to lure me in. I also love the jalapeño of the Stinger, and the gucamole of the Baja. I'd still rather barbecue at home, but if I've got an urgent burger craving and I'm so hungry I can mentally consider eating two burger patties, Vera's will kick that craving good. read more

By the beach in the summer, great place for their milkshakes too. though limited parking, I chance it in the alley right beside it. cool seating, an L shape table at the front, and some bar table seating too. Well, the burgers are good. It is Vera's after all. Still, the service and speed at this Vera's are disappointing. For example - once when I ordered a burger with hot sauce, they forgot it, and then when I asked for it, they literally soaked my burger in a quarter cup of the stuff. They've randomly added things I didn't order onto my burgers, like mayo. They've forgotten to give me items I've paid for, which sucks when you're ravenous and craving poutine! The ambiance here isn't great either - the restaurant reminds me of a McDonalds. For the best Vera's experience I'd head to the Denman, Davie, UBC, Main or Commercial locations. read more

I should've checked the reviews before ordering the tacos. Just had the baja tacos, literally the worst tacos I've ever had ! Tortilla skins taste funny and soggy. The small portions of fish were horribly cooked and taste slight funny too. Blend and soggy. The veggies thrown on top are like the cheap dry coleslaw that come in bags in super market with zero dressing on top. Horrible food and experience. one reason Vera's gets a lot of brownie points from me is that if you sign up for their email club.. they send you a free burger coupon to a value of $10 on your birthday.. no strings attached!! i ordered the burger of the day combo and they gave me the whole thing for free (around $12).. i was impressed! i've been to different locations.. UBC, commercial drive, main street and they've all been pretty good.. i like the lamb burger option cuz you can't get lamb burgers at too many places its a little steep in price but if you're in need of a good quality burger definitely check them out.. they make it fresh after you order it so expect it to take about 10 minutes they also have this option where they will come to your house/venue of choice.. and make your entire party burgers.. comes with all the fixins and stuff too.. its all you can eat for about $20 a head which is not bad.. they serve other things as well.. i've never used this service but all the details can be found on their website read more

Great food. We went the taco and burrito route and we're not disappointed. I had two kit's beach tacos. They were huge and tasted amazing! I'm a big guy and thought I'd needed to order a third but two was plenty. Great flavors too. My wife had a burrito bowl and it beat anything else we've had. The interior is not perfect but there is one screen to watch TSN highlights while you wait for your order. I really like these guys burgers, but sometimes there can be a bit of an inconsistency in the quality of the burger after it is cooked. It is a bit on the pricey side so I recommend going for one of the daily deals. They have different combos with fries and a pop every weekday for 11 or 12 bucks which is a pretty good deal there. And I think on Tuesday or Wednesday they have a burger and two beer deal for 10 dollars which is a very decent deal. I recommend being creative with your burgers because you can find combos that you can fall in love with. Vera's is an established Vancouver business that is actually very good. We love the Commercial Drive Vera's - the service for us has always been consistently good, the burgers always consistent - never pink, never dry. Bot Vera's and Fatburger seem a touchy on the pricey side to us, but maybe that's just what it costs to run a decent place in Vancouver. read more

They lost a couple of stars for getting 2 orders wrong, one of which was quite serious. They mis-labled a burger, which ended up having a vegetarian bite into a meat hamburger which upset her. That kind of mistake shouldn't happen. The second mixup was the person bringing our order to our table had no idea which burger had what toppings on it, which isn't as big a deal. Overall, OK service. Fresh burger. Underwhelming fries, good onion rings. Cold air blowing from their ducts in the middle of Janurary (we all left our coats on). Good burger was crowded out by all these other factors. Will be back, but not with family. Will probably get take-out with friends and eat at the beach in the summer. read more
