Lil bday stop with bestie. Had a citrus cider here. The outdoor patio area is so nice during the daytime. I'd only been here at night before. Definitely coming back!

I discovered this cool neighborhood bar during covid and finally had the chance to come back. Verdugo Bar has been serving the community since 2007. They have beers on tap & specialty cocktails, including a few on draft. Inside is a dimly lit lounge that exudes so much charm! I like the 1930's curved wooden bar and oversized vinyl booths. The outdoor beer garden is spacious with plenty of seating areas. On select nights there is a DJ and an occasional food vendor pop-up. You can order pizza from across the street via a QR code. I came here on a Friday night with some friends. We were digging the cool Halloween décor and background music. Bartender Delilah was an absolute doll! Very friendly and personable. She made the evening even more enjoyable. 5 stars for her! The drink menu is along the wall above the bar. Our first round consisted of the OG Paloma, Como La Flor, and Verdugo Fresca. For my second round I decided to try the Pickletini. All the drinks were delish. I really liked the vibe of this place and would come back with friends or even solo. They are also dog friendly, which is a double bonus. In fact, they'll be hosting a Howl-O-Ween pet costume party on October 26th at 1 p.m. *HH: Monday - Friday 5 - 7 pm Sat & Sun 12 - 3 pm $2 off wells, wine, & select beers. *Dog Friendly *Street parking

My first time at Verdugo bar and I had so much fun. It was definitely a five stars all around for me. It's really cute once you walk in and it's very hidden and they have a nice outdoor area with benches where you could have fun with friends or family, I think it's good for celebrations just to have a good time. My friends and I came on a Saturday in the afternoon and we had the pleasure to have Marco as our bartender and court. They were phenomenal with like exceptional service. They were attentive, super laid-back, and everything we asked, for they had it and made the drinks with no complaints, and all the drinks were very good. I also like how you can order pizza and food and you can bring it in there Inside the bar area is really nice and I love the ambience and how dark it is. They have nice booth where you can sit in a good amount of seats at the bar. Also, what I loved was the good music that they played, they had really good R&B and hip-hop music. This place is definitely a vibe you can dance and have a good time a dent pretty much the whole time because it was that much fun in the music was a vibe. The only downside is that the parking is very scarce and it's only street parking. However, once you find parking, you're forget about the time spent finding parking because it's a good time. Also, they have happy hour during the weekend as well, and they have good options with discounted prices, and his dog friendly as well so you can also bring your dog if you would like. Overall, I would definitely come back here and I recommend this bar if you wanna have a good time and have good customer service. -Marshay D.

Neighborhood bar, must check it out. A little dark inside but not to worry, you can hangout in the patio. They have happy hour, service is excellent and the drinks are just fine. Grab a friend or meet a new one here.

This is a bar that's easy to miss. It's on the corner, in a neighborhood, but also not...it's obscured by trees and ivy and it's just a little off the main road. Those who know this place know how fun it is and how memorable it can be. I came here on a cold November night. It rained lightly while we sat outside and it didn't disrupt our fun. Verdugo Bar is a classic. They have a famous curvy vintage bar along with these leather curved booths from another time. String lights give the place a nice glow. You order drinks at the bar and everyone behind there is super nice. They have a great selection of beers on tap and canned/bottled. They also have a collection of signature cocktails. The highlight of this particular visit was the Pina Colada. It's premade and comes out of a slushee machine. The alcohol is strong, but still has all the sweet flavor you expect. They also have a similar drink which is dole whip with mezcal. Imagine a perfect summer day at Disneyland with a smoky aftertaste. Finding a seat isn't much of a problem because they have a giant outdoor seating area. The walls are covered in signs of all the beers they've served over the years. Perfect spot to play board games or just catch up with friends. They have a window in the back where pop ups can set up shop. On this particular night, they had a slider and hot dog pop up show up. The old LA vibes outside and inside don't just make this any watering hole. When we pulled up I couldn't remember if I had been here before. Walking out to the back patio, I almost tripped on the little ramp that lead out there. It all came rushing back, I did the same thing 10 years ago. Come here for a drink or two and you'll remember it forever.

Large venue with lots of space for your crew to find a table! But get there early on a Friday evening for a table indoors! This place reminds me of a Biergarten in Germany! The bartenders are kind, friendly, and skilled with cocktails! They are very busy and do their best to keep the drinks served for all the thirsty folks! Music inside is rather loud. Sometimes, there's dancing! Be adviser that there is a detailed security check for safety. Doorman will look through your purse and have men empty their pockets. If you're celebrating a birthday and brought gifts, those will be searched. No bringing in bottles of alcohol as gifts. I'm not used to this. Still, imo, the doorman was firm but fair. Don't bring your skateboard, scooter, unicycle, nor bike. Nothing that may be used as a weapon or jeopardize safety will be allowed. I felt safe and enjoyed the good, neighborly vibes!

This is absolutely one of the best bars I've been to. Located in a interesting area that is both commercial and residential. As others mentioned, parking can be a bit tricky. The spot offers both indoor and outdoor seating with heat lamps. Plenty of room. Perfect place to hang out with friends. Mario, the security guy is super cool. The place is also pet friendly with plenty of watering bowls filled for them. Once inside, the vibe is completely different. Lots of high tables, comfortable communal booths and board games. Who doesn't like board games. There is even a old school photo booth. Plenty to sip on from beers on tap, ciders, mixed drinks, etc. Just pick your posion. Bartenders are very friendly. Especially Natalie. There is food, but it looks like it is only available outside. No food permitted inside. I will definitely return.

    Are well-behaved pups allowed?

    How's the parking situation?

Parking can be dicey - mostly street parking so get their early since it fills up fast. But with some luck you'll be OK.

Is this a good place for a group of about 7 or a b day? I just want to chill. Relax with some games and have some drinks. Also is their food trucks or food on sundays?

Best birthday spot in the area. I've had 3 birthdays here.

Do they still do food trucks?

    Yes. Fridays for sure

Can you smoke in the patio?

    Yes, smoking is allowed.

What night do they have djs? 21 and older?

Yes, our license requires that everyone must be at least 21 at all times. Djs spin every Friday and Saturday as well as some occasional Thursdays and weekend afternoons. Cheers!

I really had no intention of coming back but decided to give it a chance. Even though I didn't plan it, turns out it was a year to the day of my last visit. The place has been remodeled. It no longer emits the cozy neighborhood dive vibes. Instead, it's a hipster lo-fi bar with a sleek chic décor. As pretty as it is, it doesn't have that warm, welcoming feel. Everything is neat & pristine. There is a DJ booth, and the old jukebox remains. The selection of music pumping through the speakers was enjoyable but the playlist wasn't from the jukebox. As a I grew up in Highland Park I took my wife to visit The Arroyo Club bar to celebrate her recent promotion after the bar was recommended to us by a close friend. We were looking forward to a fun evening and decided to participate in the trivia game being hosted that night. After receiving an answer sheet from the host, Matt, my wife and I began playing. The trivia topic was based on an older television show that we were unfamiliar with, and we initially used our phones to look up answers. A male individual approached us and informed us that using our phones was considered cheating. We accepted that explanation, stopped using our phones, and continued playing. Later in the evening, I observed bartender Justin speaking with the same individual and appearing to provide him with answers. When I questioned how that was different from what we had been told not to do, Justin stated that it was not cheating because they were part of a group. I responded that it was only a game and not a serious issue, especially considering my wife and I had only accumulated a few points. At that point, the interaction became uncomfortable. Justin informed the host that my wife and I should be disqualified for cheating, despite the fact that we had stopped using our phones when instructed. The employee who had originally confronted us also became increasingly confrontational, which my wife and I found intimidating. I later asked another bartender, Zach, what the concern was, and he explained that the winning prize was $50. While I understand the importance of maintaining fair rules, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily hostile and embarrassing. What made the experience even more disappointing was that we appeared to be the only minority guests present at the time, and we observed other patrons using their phones without being confronted. This left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. My wife attempted to discuss how the situation made us feel with a female bartender who had blue hair. Unfortunately, her reaction appeared dismissive, and our concerns did not seem to be taken seriously. As we prepared to leave, the employee who had initially confronted us remained nearby staring in our direction, which further contributed to our discomfort. For reference, we were seated at the right corner of the bar if you were facing the bar from the front. I am not seeking compensation. Rather, I hope management will review the events of that evening, including any available security footage and discussions with staff members present. No guest should leave feeling targeted, embarrassed, or unwelcome while simply trying to enjoy a night out celebrating a special occasion.

I could easily see this being a great spot for a date night thanks to the ambiance and the solid variety of food and drinks. I tried the "Anonymous Email" mocktail, and honestly, we couldn't even tell if it was a cocktail or not--it was that well crafted. Definitely a highlight drink if you don't want alcohol early in the day. Food-wise, the whipped feta was a standout and paired perfectly with the fresh, warm za'atar pita. The Brussels sprouts had a great crunch on the outside, though they were a bit too saucy for my taste--but still enjoyable overall. The glazed pork belly was delicious and leaned more Asian than Mediterranean, which added to the restaurant's fusion feel. The chicken schnitzel sandwich was another win: soft, warm bun (likely brioche), crispy chicken, and a flavor profile that starts sweet and savory, then finishes with a subtle spicy kick from the spiced honey. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and would absolutely come back. If you're not into fusion cuisine, this might not be your spot--but if you're open to a Mediterranean-inspired menu with creative twists, great vibes, and well-made drinks, I'd definitely recommend it.
