It's Pliny the Younger season and Verdugo Bar came through again! Year after year the team here always has everything organized and gets through the line quickly and with a smile. Lines were long and the staff moved quickly to get through everyone even with special requests for cocktails. Holy cow! Waited 30 minutes for a drink here and I was sitting smack dab in the middle of the bar. I had the best seat at a bar I've ever had in my life and a bartender wouldn't look at my 6'6" figure which is meticulously sculpted by the way. Part of the issue is this bar claims to be a cocktail bar but the vibe is 100% DIVE. You can't be serving these fancy cocktails at a place like this with this many patrons with this few of bartenders specifically when the bartenders have this level of tunnel vision. The periphs on these bartenders should disqualify them from operating a motor vehicle which speaking of, I just crashed my own motor vehicle while writing this review. I discovered this cool neighborhood bar during covid and finally had the chance to come back. Verdugo Bar has been serving the community since 2007. They have beers on tap & specialty cocktails, including a few on draft. Inside is a dimly lit lounge that exudes so much charm! I like the 1930's curved wooden bar and oversized vinyl booths. The outdoor beer garden is spacious with plenty of seating areas. On select nights there is a DJ and an occasional food vendor pop-up. You can order pizza from across the street via a QR code. I came here on a Friday night with some friends. We were digging the cool Halloween décor and background music. Bartender Delilah was an absolute doll! Very friendly and personable. She made the evening even more enjoyable. 5 stars for her! The drink menu is along the wall above the bar. Our first round consisted of the OG Paloma, Como La Flor, and Verdugo Fresca. For my second round I decided to try the Pickletini. All the drinks were delish. I really liked the vibe of this place and would come back with friends or even solo. My first time at Verdugo bar and I had so much fun. It was definitely a five stars all around for me. It's really cute once you walk in and it's very hidden and they have a nice outdoor area with benches where you could have fun with friends or family, I think it's good for celebrations just to have a good time. My friends and I came on a Saturday in the afternoon and we had the pleasure to have Marco as our bartender and court. They were phenomenal with like exceptional service. They were attentive, super laid-back, and everything we asked, for they had it and made the drinks with no complaints, and all the drinks were very good. I also like how you can order pizza and food and you can bring it in there Inside the bar area is really nice and I love the ambience and how dark it is. They have nice booth where you can sit in a good amount of seats at the bar. Also, what I loved was the good music that they played, they had really good R&B and hip-hop music. This place is definitely a vibe you can dance and have a good time a dent pretty much the whole time because it was that much fun in the music was a vibe. The only downside is that the parking is very scarce and it's only street parking. However, once you find parking, you're forget about the time spent finding parking because it's a good time. Also, they have happy hour during the weekend as well, and they have good options with discounted prices, and his dog friendly as well so you can also bring your dog if you would like. I've been coming to Verdugo Bar for about two years and usually enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks, and experience. But last night (Sunday) was by far the worst visit I've ever had here. The bartender was rude from the very beginning and clearly didn't want to serve me. On top of that she straight up asked me for tips even though she was already being disrespectful. When I didn't tip because of how poorly I was treated, I was kicked out of the bar. This was shocking and honestly unacceptable. I never expected to be treated this way after coming here for a couple of years. It completely ruined the place for me and I'm extremely disappointed in how the staff handled it. read more

My friend Kim S. had a birthday party at Verdugo Bar a few Fridays back, where she invited her friends to help her relive the birthdays of decades past. I guess this place has been around, and she had fond memories of visiting in her twenties. This was my first time here, but it reminded me of many other bars I've liked in nearby neighborhoods, low-key and fun with a dark interior and an airy patio. The crowd felt like it probably came of age at the same time as our group and the bar itself, and the music and atmosphere matched. Good times, millennial style. There was an extensive list of draft beers, as well as a shorter one of draft cocktails, along with a full bar where I'm guessing you could order just about whatever. The bartender was polite and efficient, and we never had to wait long for service, even when the place filled up. I think we had the Stone Zumology IPA, the Wild Fields Brewhouse 4104, and the Kern River Trampled by Terpenes IPA or the Brouwerij St. Bernardus Abt 12 (I remember one of these, possibly the Kern River, was out). In any case, something tasty they had on tap. I also tried the draft Manhattan, and this was nice, smooth and boozy. I had a great time at Verdugo Bar and hope to come back for more chill patio drinking. I may be a new patron, but the place pinged my nostalgics in a pleasant, comfortable way. read more

This is a bar that's easy to miss. It's on the corner, in a neighborhood, but also not...it's obscured by trees and ivy and it's just a little off the main road. Those who know this place know how fun it is and how memorable it can be. I came here on a cold November night. It rained lightly while we sat outside and it didn't disrupt our fun. Verdugo Bar is a classic. They have a famous curvy vintage bar along with these leather curved booths from another time. String lights give the place a nice glow. You order drinks at the bar and everyone behind there is super nice. They have a great selection of beers on tap and canned/bottled. They also have a collection of signature cocktails. The highlight of this particular visit was the Pina Colada. It's premade and comes out of a slushee machine. The alcohol is strong, but still has all the sweet flavor you expect. They also have a similar drink which is dole whip with mezcal. Imagine a perfect summer day at Disneyland with a smoky aftertaste. Finding a seat isn't much of a problem because they have a giant outdoor seating area. The walls are covered in signs of all the beers they've served over the years. Perfect spot to play board games or just catch up with friends. They have a window in the back where pop ups can set up shop. On this particular night, they had a slider and hot dog pop up show up. The old LA vibes outside and inside don't just make this any watering hole. When we pulled up I couldn't remember if I had been here before. Walking out to the back patio, I almost tripped on the little ramp that lead out there. It all came rushing back, I did the same thing 10 years ago. Sometimes, there's dancing! Be adviser that there is a detailed security check for safety. Doorman will look through your purse and have men empty their pockets. This is absolutely one of the best bars I've been to. Located in a interesting area that is both commercial and residential. As others mentioned, parking can be a bit tricky. The spot offers both indoor and outdoor seating with heat lamps. Plenty of room. Perfect place to hang out with friends. Mario, the security guy is super cool. The place is also pet friendly with plenty of watering bowls filled for them. Once inside, the vibe is completely different. Lots of high tables, comfortable communal booths and board games. Who doesn't like board games. There is even a old school photo booth. Plenty to sip on from beers on tap, ciders, mixed drinks, etc. Just pick your posion. Bartenders are very friendly. I couldn't see what hazy beers were on the menu because I had left my glasses at a table outside, and she told me to "move closer" instead of answering my basic question. Title: Gianna is hurting your business, I was visiting my brother and we decided to go went for a walk down the street to one of their favorite dinner spots that's 2 blocks from their house. My brother and my sister in law happen to have a new born 6 week old baby, to have a bite to eat and a drink outside and chill. When we entered, Gianna stated that the baby is not allowed there, so we Grudgingly understood and my brother ordered food while we waited outside the entrance, after we ordered she then stated the baby could even be on the premises. I stated that baby's are allowed to be in the eating area (not the bar) by California state law : The Law. Section 25665 of the California Alcoholic Beverage Control states that minors are not allowed to enter or remain within a bar. However, a minor is allowed to enter and remain inside a restaurant that happens to have a bar attached to it. Which this is... Disappointing how rude she was to be honest and sadly we won't be back due to this situation... sad this will be the last time we eat here. For my brothers protection I will not be posting pictures of them or the baby... Hopefully the owner remdies this .... Unfortunately this place has fallen from the last time we came. The bartenders seem to have a great time with each other. Two of the women bartenders kept screeching throughout the evening. Me and my bf moved from the empty bar to one of the empty booths because of the loud obnoxious screeching. Later, I approached the bartenders asking them to remake my bf's fourth drink because it was terrible I was told it would come out the same because it was on tap. Been coming to Verdugo off and on for a long time, always a great beer selection. Went there this past weekend for an early nightcap following my afternoon birthday party elsewhere. Arrived around 7:00-ish, no bouncer, not many people there, very chill, we all walked right in. We had pizza delivered from across the street, and also wings from another place, out on the patio without incident. A friend of mine and her boyfriend drove in from the Westside after work, arrived a little after 8:00. Suddenly there was a bouncer checking IDs and scanning everyone for weapons. My friend - who is obviously middle-aged - had unfortunately grabbed the wrong expired ID, and the bouncer absolutely refused to let her in. I had to stand outside the line and chat with them for a while to make sure their trip wasn't completely for naught. (He didn't care about anyone who was already in, even though none of us had been scanned for weaponry or even had our IDs checked.) Seemed very arbitrary, like one security jerk on a personal power trip that had nothing to do with keeping underage drinkers and/or actual troublemakers out. I don't have a ton of money to spend going out these days, and I'm not inclined to return someplace unwelcoming. I realize the bar is in an occasionally rough area, but I'm pretty sure the danger isn't coming from roving gangs of middle-aged Asian women. So anyway, if you do want to bring weapons into Verdugo, make sure you get there before 8:00 pm! read more

Awesome neighborhood bar with a huge patio and outdoor space. I've been coming here for years. They always have some great craft beers to choose from. During these covid times a food order is mandatory. Check their IG: verdugobar to see what food truck is coming thru. Order drinks at the window. There's picnic tables in their patio with plenty of room for social distance. It's a very chill neighborhood bar vibe. It's a great spot for a date or small groups. Service was friendly. Staff in masks. They're also dog friendly. Parking can be tough sometimes. There's street parking in the neighborhood but you may have to walk a block or two. read more

So happy to have found this place. Every time we have moved to a new area, we always look for a neighborhood bar. After making our most recent move, I am extremely happy that we found this place. Extremely laid back vibe. Outside the have some picnic style tables and once inside it has big round leather booth style tables and the perfect old wood dive bar. They carry a great selection of local beers on tap... my favorite part, however, was that they have Malört! I think the things that make this place pretty great are the layout and the friendliness/skill of the bartenders. The layout is nice because you go from the indoor bar area to the indoor game area to the outdoor hang out area ... and all pretty seamlessly. The bartenders are really chill and make a decent old fashioned. Not the best I've had, but not bad at all. Outside space is nice with weekly vendors serve food. The night we came they had brought in Angel City Burgers... and those burgers were soooo good! Perfectly complimented my old fashioned! The bouncer is very odd and on a mini power trip about IDs. I'm 40 and look it but couldn't enter because my ID had just expired. Lame.

First time at this place with my beautiful wife. They have outside tables with doggie water bowls. Seems like a great place, good drinks. Why I'm giving them a one star is because we're were sitting outside on a table at the corner next to what seems to be an outside kitchen to prepare burgers and other food. Anyway, a heavy guy with a tattoo covering his neck that works there told us "you guys need to move, just giving you a heads up" why would you want paying customers to movr? If they Are going to use that space why would you put a table there and then kick customers out? Or T least put a sign saying seat/ table available from x to x time.
