    The Black Keys spinning vinyl
    Kevin P.

Stopped by Gold Line Bar in Highland Park for drinks with some friends and had a fun time overall. This place definitely lives up to its reputation as a vinyl-spinning bar -- they had The Black Keys playing on vinyl the night we went, which really added to the atmosphere. The space itself has a really cool, vintage feel with walls of records and dim lighting that makes it feel cozy but lively at the same time. The only downside was how packed it was -- it took a while to get drinks and it was hard to move around at times. That said, the drinks we did get were excellent, well-balanced, and worth the wait. I'd definitely come back, but probably on a less crowded night to really enjoy the music and the vibe.

Goldline has a very intimate and chill vibe. I went on a Tuesday so it wasn't too crowded, but it was perfect for hanging out and listening to the DJ. They had a wide selection of cocktails and the ones we got (mezcal & tequila) were really tasty. I would recommend checking it out.

Cool bar in Highland Park. Good music. A mixed crowd. Was packed on a Friday night but we luckily were able to snag a standing spot by the open window. Drinks were unique and strong. Bathroom is only single person so the line gets longgggg.

Cool little vinyl bar in highland park. Parking could be difficult depending on the time of the day but it's generally quite active in this area. The drinks were good and the vibes were on point but the music can be a little too loud at times. Overall worth stopping by!

Visited Gold Line with Friends, bar hopping a little bit in the trendy area of Highland Park (on Fig). The bar is very hip, and is known for having a great vinyl music collection. So first check, good music and vibes. Second check I got a Japanese Highball and was very good. The place was a little crowded, but my friends and I were still able to find seating in the back. Overall good times, good drinks, and good music. Thumbs up. Tip: Like the name suggests, the bar is located near the Gold Line (Now the A Line) Metro station. If bar hopping, also check out the Highland Park Bowl almost next door, and easy to miss but cool Good Housekeeping

Came here with my friend and we had a great time! Drinks were flowing, can't go wrong with a vodka soda lol. The ambience is incredibly chill and music is on point! The service doesn't disappoint, and I always come back to hang out.

I came here with a friend for a quick drink before meeting up with other friends. We found street parking on N Ave 56. We only had time to get one drink each, but we thoroughly enjoyed them (I really liked the goldline). The vibes here are great - love the vinyl, love the music playing. We will definitely be back to try more drinks.

I guess the drinks were interesting and decent. Nothing overwhelmingly mind blowing. Kind of a small venue- one floor, some seating available around the bar or in the back lounge area. Pictures look better than the actual place.

I want to know if I can bring outside food. Can't really do alcohol without food or snax?

The bartenders are pretty chill so I would imagine they would if you ask - also there are plenty of place to eat near by - and literally a place right next door

I've been going to them more and more, and The Lucky Tiki was one I definitely had to try out. First off, I have to praise 1933 group because I have loved every single bar they have revitalized and this one is no different. In keeping with their MO, The Lucky Tiki is a speakeasy with a vintage vibe. I won't give away how to get in but let's just say, it's near the front of Highland Park Bowl. My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. Was the perfect spot for a lively date night!

As a I grew up in Highland Park I took my wife to visit The Arroyo Club bar to celebrate her recent promotion after the bar was recommended to us by a close friend. We were looking forward to a fun evening and decided to participate in the trivia game being hosted that night. After receiving an answer sheet from the host, Matt, my wife and I began playing. The trivia topic was based on an older television show that we were unfamiliar with, and we initially used our phones to look up answers. A male individual approached us and informed us that using our phones was considered cheating. We accepted that explanation, stopped using our phones, and continued playing. Later in the evening, I observed bartender Justin speaking with the same individual and appearing to provide him with answers. When I questioned how that was different from what we had been told not to do, Justin stated that it was not cheating because they were part of a group. I responded that it was only a game and not a serious issue, especially considering my wife and I had only accumulated a few points. At that point, the interaction became uncomfortable. Justin informed the host that my wife and I should be disqualified for cheating, despite the fact that we had stopped using our phones when instructed. The employee who had originally confronted us also became increasingly confrontational, which my wife and I found intimidating. I later asked another bartender, Zach, what the concern was, and he explained that the winning prize was $50. While I understand the importance of maintaining fair rules, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily hostile and embarrassing. What made the experience even more disappointing was that we appeared to be the only minority guests present at the time, and we observed other patrons using their phones without being confronted. This left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. My wife attempted to discuss how the situation made us feel with a female bartender who had blue hair. Unfortunately, her reaction appeared dismissive, and our concerns did not seem to be taken seriously. As we prepared to leave, the employee who had initially confronted us remained nearby staring in our direction, which further contributed to our discomfort. For reference, we were seated at the right corner of the bar if you were facing the bar from the front. I am not seeking compensation. Rather, I hope management will review the events of that evening, including any available security footage and discussions with staff members present. No guest should leave feeling targeted, embarrassed, or unwelcome while simply trying to enjoy a night out celebrating a special occasion.

I actually talked to the couples that were on both sides of me the first visit. This 2nd visit was different but it was cool no complaints. I had my cross word puzzle with me and some work to do on my phone so I was being entertained lol. Brandy is a great bartender. She practically lives there from what she shared with me lol. She makes some really good drinks, no lie. The Carmen #6 is cool but Carmen's Cousin is much better. And I like their Old Fashioned. That chicken sandwich is also good. I had it both visits. The first time was a lot better than the 2nd time. I don't know what it was. Could've been the extra honey sauce I didn't request like before lol. All in all, it was still a good sandwich. I ate it all just like the last time lol. The prices are decent and fair during happy hour. In my opinion of course. Cocktails for $10 and so is the sandwich. Not bad to me. I love the space and ambiance. The customer service is good. Saturday, I ordered both the Carmen #6 and Carmen's Cousin. Met with the manager Sean I believe his name was. So I shared with him how I had been mistakenly overcharged for a drink I didn't have during my last visit. He did his due diligence as a general manager and got back to me soon as he could. He then came back and informed me that everything was taking care of and they'll take off one of the drinks from this visit. And they also gave me a lil discount. Haven't been to any other bars in highland park but this one and I like it. It's a nice restaurant. It has plenty of seating inside with also balcony seating and views. Happy Hour is from 4p - 6p. The lighting is extremely dim, which isn't really my preference, but it definitely adds to the ambiance. The restaurant was packed, yet we were seated right away in a cozy corner booth. We started with an appetizer that our server recommended over the hummus, and I'm glad we took the suggestion. It had a unique flavor, and the pita bread was absolutely delicious. Be prepared to spend some money here. Dinner for two can easily run over $100 if you're ordering more than just an appetizer and salad. The food itself was interesting, with bold and unique seasonings. Some dishes leaned a little salty for my taste, and I found myself going back and forth on whether I loved them or not, but they were definitely memorable. If you're looking for a fun date-night spot or a lively place to meet up with friends, this restaurant is worth checking out. It has a great vibe and a lot of character. While it's probably not somewhere I'd visit regularly, I'm glad I gave it a try.
