So when the waiter comes around and asks how is everything Don't ask if they can put some air on because you will immediately be shut down with "look at what I'm wearing." We had dinner here on a Friday night at 6. We were seated at the most perfect table on the patio in front, perfect for people watching, which I love to do on 5th Ave. Our server was sat with several tables all at once, thankfully I read the reviews beforehand so I knew the service could be a bit slow, we were sure to order our drinks and appetizers right away. When we finally ordered our dinner it came out very quickly. The entrees were just ok! I had the carbonara, my husband had the lobster ravioli. The meat/cheese plate was my favorite, it had a nice variety. Our server did not ask us if we wanted dessert, just eventually brought us our bill. Four of us went to Vergina on Friday, March 31, to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, we had a few problems. When we checked in with the hostess at our reserved time, we were told to wait. A host then approached us and told us to move out of the way. He then told us to go to the back of the long line which extended onto the sidewalk. When the hostess returned, I explained that we had already checked in with her and that we were not getting back into line. This was not a good start. The birthday celebrant ordered one of the specials -- veal parmesan on the bone. Although it looked appetizing, the veal was tasteless and tough. Fine Italian dining? This is NOT Italian dining. Just pretends to be one. The only fine thing about the cuisine is the ambience, servers' outfits and PRICES. I think the chef (or owner?) saw a YouTube video about Italian cuisine and thought it was easy to replicate. The pizzas have tons of cheese (very American style) and the crust is hard like a board. And a bit sweetish (!). They serve complimentary bread and olive oil (both quite tasty) as an appetizer. I think it should be before the meal but ours arrived when we were almost done with our dishes. Therefore already very full. What was the purpose of serving them then? To be honest, it's not the problem of only this one restaurant in Naples downtown. Most of the "Italian" restaurants there are similar. It's a total disappointment and fake, especially when you check the prices - double of other places. I guess the only clients there are rich Americans who have zero knowledge of international cuisine. They only know the American version of each. Bottom line: NOT RECOMMENDED!! read more

This time we went there with two other couples! The staff were very condescending! We felt like they were doing US a favor. The food was okay, nothing to rave about! I couldn't eat my meatballs as the salt in the sauce was on overload! So I mentioned that fact to our server and it was thrown back in my face saying "you should have requested less salt when you ordered"! WHAT!?! How would I have known?! All the food was good but nothing was great. What made the experience was eating outside along fifth ave at night. My first note, Service was not good. When we first sat down it took about 15 minutes for our waiter to show to ask us for drinks.. we had meatballs which were good. We ordered our meal once we finished our app. 5 minutes later which by no means food is made to order. My fiance had the chicken parm, chicken was dry and tasted like it sat out for hours until they decided to throw it in the microwave and serve, and I had the four cheese and pear fiochhi (supposedly suppose to be the best) it was unique but was cold once served. My fiance and I are big foodies and visit many of restraunts ,which hurts to give this even below a 3, but this was dissapointing. Very rude hostess, very unprofessional manager and terrible team work between the staff! When our waiter forgot our drinks we asked the trump looking waiter and he acted like he will help us and just ignored us completely! We continued to ask four other staff members but they ignored us or just didn't care. This is what happens when the management have no idea what was happening! 5th Avenue's best Seven of us celebrated a birthday here Friday evening and what a treat. I made the reservation three weeks in advance, for 5:30, requesting outside, and was rewarded with the best table in the restaurant imo and I'm sure the best server, Hellke. She was efficient! Our table was on the front patio behind the twinkle lights but with a view of 5th Ave. As always, the food was excellent. We had surf and turf, chicken Marsala, veal Parmesan which featured a huge veal chop, mussels, wonderful Caesar salads; everything was great. The birthday girl got a lovely large piece of chocolate cake. Helke was able to split the bill exactly as we requested. Great evening! read more

While visiting Naples we decided to try Vergina. My husband enjoyed a Bolognese dish that was delicious. My pasta was terrible! I'm married to Italian cook who couldn't eat it either. The sauce was over spiced and it was not indicated on the menu. The dish was returned and replaced with another dish that came out slightly warm. I couldn't eat much of it, and having already returned a dish I didn't dare return another. The ambiance was part of the reason we went. Live music and decor for the holidays was attractive. This place is usually busy. Great location on 5th, big bar, large outdoor patio and cheap happy hour promotions, especially for 5th Avenue. The problem is....the food is mediocre, drinks are watered down (get wine) and if you want water with your meal, they sell you a bottle of still or sparkling water... although the still water arrives at your table already opened... just like the tourist spots in Italy. The place is huge and beautiful! They have outside dining where you can people watch. There is a bar in the back and DJ with lights and dance floor. The front dining still feels romantic and cozy. The seats are like bucket seats which were comfortable. They have hookah and unique deserts, a waiter came out with a huge glass in a womens face and pink cotton candy wrapped around as her hair and a huge sparkling candle on top. The music was all over the place, something for everyone. When we got there they were playing the BeeGees then 50 then bad bunny then the temptations lol. Victor was our waiter and he was attentive. The good and drinks were delicious. I recommend to try once and stay for the dancing! Kitchen closes at 10:30pm end dance and drinks close at 2am. read more

This is a great place for 1/2 off happy hour and for dining outside. Inside gets very crowded and loud. We've been here twice and the service has been excellent as has been the food. I recommend the eggplant Parmesan appetizer, and Bronzino or cioppino entrées. read more

I wanted to like it. I wanted to post a great review. Maybe I will give it another try and re-evaluate but I just can not go more than 2 stars. The red sauce was thick and tasted like it had been sitting for quite some time. Nothing fresh about the side of pasta that was ordered and Eggplant at every other Italian place I've tried was better than that. Service for our large lunch group was OK but none of the servers acted like they were happy. No lunch menu was offered and one was shown on the website. If they don't want large parties they should just say no and not try to gouge them and make the experience subpar. In looking around none of the dishes looked exceptional. I'd wanted to try Vergina for years and finally got the opportunity. So many places on 5th. I will keep on moving on to the next one. So sorry, I know it's an institution in Naples but that's just how it was I think they've become too comfortable and stopped trying. read more

I am from Naples and decided to try out this place the other day. I'm not very impressed. It wasn't horrible, but it was not the standard I was expecting with them being on 5th Ave. The first dish was the salmon entree. The rice seemed cheap as well as the vegetables... almost like they just threw in some frozen veggies w/ the rice. Salmon was very average compared to some of the other restaurants next door. The cioppino had potential, but there's a way to make seafood not taste so fishy and they missed. Maybe some people prefer that? The ambiance is okay. A bit crowded with tables, and there seems to be a slant while sitting outside. Outdated design overall. Service was great. The server was very attentive to where we were at with our meal. Hence the two stars instead of one. I will not be going back to this restaurant anytime soon due to the fact that there's so many other amazing restaurants on 5th ave. Our party of 4 had an extremely disappointing experience for dinner on Feb. 4th despite the restaurant being recommended by friends. After placing our drink order the waiter came back empty handed to take our dinner order. He said the drinks were on the way. Within 10-15 minutes our dinner entrees arrrived, yet still no drinks! Our food was served cold, too.The kitchen delivery person said he would look into our drink order which appeared about 5 minutes later, delivered by the kitchen member! The kitchen member took back our food to be rewarmed. Our waiter was nowhere to be found at the time but he later dropped by to check on us. We explained the issue and he said he'd make it up to us with complimentary drinks and dessert. Neither happened! Our waiter later showed up ( after leaving us for 20+ minutes following our completion of dinner). He tried to "sell us" dessert and did not make good on his gratuity offers. Needless to say we just asked for our bill and wanted to leave this poor experience behind us! The waiter never returned with our bill so we talked to the seating manager who went on a quest to find the waiter and came up empty handed. Guess the waiter went AWOL! We paid the bill and left . For the price of our meals and drinks (over priced) we were very disappointed. I tried to contact management about our experience via their website site message portal several times without any response so I can only assume they don't care about satisfied customers and/or endorse this type of quality and service. We enjoyed dining at Vergina. We were there a few months ago. My brother and I had the breaded veal chop. It was pounded very thinly and breaded. It was a little too thin but it was still juicy and tasty. It came with shaved Parmesan cheese with marinated tomatoes and veggie. The ladies had salmon which was cooked to perfection. This place is absolutely horrible. Most importantly, the food was just bad. One of the most below average chicken parm dishes I've ever had. My wife's dish was just inedible and my daughters salad was bland. The waiter just couldn't care about serving except for the tip at the end and he let me know that. (For real) We had great experiences at many of the other restaurants along 5th; so go elsewhere. Update 2 days later: I was in my business chatting with a client, the subject of Naples and 5th st. area came up. We started sharing some of our fav restaurants. So I finally had the food here. It is very good. I came back into town for work and visited here. I saw on their happy hour menu that they had baked wings And I wanted to try them. So I ordered wings and a Caesar salad. The wings that came out were not the baked wings. Apparently you need to specify. So I was a little disappointed. But they were very good and very spicy. They came with a weird grayish looking blue cheese sauce that was very watery. So I wouldn't recommend that. The Caesar salad was very fresh and good. The complementary bread and olive oil dip was also very good. Service was spot on as usual. I will be back to try more food and enjoy their tasty beverages. Overall a good experience. read more

Friday, July 7, 2017 We were sitting on our balcony at the Inn on Fifth overlooking Fifth Avenue and discussing where to go for dinnner. Music started to play and it caught our attention. We stayed at the Inn last September and wanted to try different restaurants on this visit. So we walked across the avenue and were seated inside Vergina's. Before I go further, I want to compliment our server and acknowledge his hard work ethic. He was a friendly Italian Gentleman from Palermo, Italy and had table to serve inside as well as outside on the patio. There was another a server who happily assisted us with a smile. Our appetizers were calamari with a horrible pink dipping sauce with messy cocktail sauce added?!?! See photo! The calamari wasn't cooked properly and didn't taste good. The caprese didn't have enough basil or balsamic vinegar and please see the photo! Our entrees had to be returned because the clams and linguini was completely DRY and no taste and the 2nd entree was the wrong entree. We finally received linguini with more liquid and the correct penne ala vodka with salmon. Again disappointed! No flavor, no taste. We ordered dessert and 20+ minutes passed. We got up to find our server and cancel the dessert and pay the tab. During the meal we tried to wave down the manager. He caught our eye and yet never came to our table. On our way out, we spoke to the Manager about our displeasure and he brushed us off with a quick "sorry". I do not like to leave negative reviews but this was warranted. read more

Lovely dinner theater tonight with a dynamite opera singer! Boy could he hold his notes. The prefix meal is $55 per person for three courses... That is a fair price. What I didn't like is that the salmon was a little bit dry so I asked for a bit more sauce to accompany the entrée. I was surprised that they charged me three dollars for that. Went 8/21 for "half price food and drinks" to find out basically it's a scam!! When I asked the bartender for a Tito's he explained it was not included in the 1/2 price deal. I asked what vodka is included he told me "trust me you have never heard of it" our group went on to order drinks then a $100 bottle of wine (none of it included in 1/2 price deal). we then asked for glasses of water when our cold precooked meals came and we were told they do not serve water by the glass you have to buy it by the bottle at $10 apiece!!
