As for GCI itself, if we had other options for internet service in our part of town, we would definitely entertain that option rather than GCI. When we lived on the west side we had ACS and it was fantastic. GCI is a nightmare. There are CONSTANT outings. Their payment system is bizarre. Their policies are.... FRUSTRATING and applied in ways that are borderline illegal. And their phone customer service is outsourced and a joke. As such, you have no choice but to go to their physical stores. Hence, why they are always slammed! But this location seems to be a weird exception where you can get great service.

He's very informed and knew exactly what we needed in order to resolve an issue we have had since July 2022, yep, over two years! Although we had many questions we asked of him, he was able to answer every one of them and speak to us in layman's terms, which is very important! We stopped by the ER location and they had us set up for a few days later to come out and set up service, a week before Christmas. The gentleman that came out was kind and professional. Our bills have never once wavered from what was originally quoted. Our gigs have rolled over accordingly and the speed is excellent. We never deal with any buffering like we did with GCI. I called tonight after getting home and not being able to connect any devices to WiFi. I called the support line and a nice gentleman was extremely helpful and patient. We had to connect a hardline to the router, which took a bit of time to track down an Ethernet cable. He didn't act put off in the slightest and joked around with me. He ended up having to kick support up a notch and get additional assistance and we eventually got it all figured out. He was super helpful and it reiterates why we transferred our service to MTA!!

It's faster than our previous service provider and I can count on one how many times we lost service compared to the other company when it seemed to be at least once a week and MUCH cheaper. HIGHLY recommend MTA, heck it's the only service I recommend for internet in Alaska.

(This was after an attempt with a visit to Pyramid computer service only to find out the hours posted are not the hours followed. Not a good way to run a business.) An appointment was set up with Glen, (the Alaska Computer Guy) to drop off the computer and the computer was fixed and done the following day. Sweet! Previous customers were also unable to review past bills/records when needed and they provided no assurance nor assistance during this transition. When I got cell phone service in AK I refused to utilize GCI due to all of the complaints that I heard from others, but essentially had no choice. ACS is great for their unlimited internet if you are in the area, but that is all. Furthermore, the individual who came to my residence to hook up my internet was extremely unprofessional and invasive going thru different rooms in the home stating that he was simply looking for the cable line. He said that he'd been in my neighborhood previously and was aware that they were either in the living room or master bedroom, yet he proceeded to walk around my entire house to include the bathroom and the kitchen questioning my decor, intellectual capacity and professional abilities which had nothing to do with his job. I assure you that this was not typical "small talk". I felt extremely unsafe and uncomfortable considering. Never had a technician that was so nosey and unprofessional.
