If you are in Belfair and you want to have your identity stolen this the place to do it. You can literally walk in the front door, pay your bill and have your bank account emptied and identity stolen before you walk out the front door. This is not an understatement. This store is using VTEC DETC 6.0 cordless telephones. These cordless phones which are commonly used have publicly known security issues. Explicit details of these exploits have been known for a decade now. Any phone conversation made at this store since opening could have easily been listened to and recorded with no means of tracing it. Given the store is already in the close vicinity to two public WiFi providers the area is already at high risk for identity theft. Any conversation in the could be listened to and recorded at a range of more that three football fields, even further is they spend a little money for a better antenna. If you know any seniors that use VERIZON tell them to NOT use the store phone at all, and to be very careful for identity theft. In simple terms: The store phone is a radio that broadcasts over the air anything you say on it. Anybody within 1000 feet and a radio can listen to this. All they have to do is tune in and listen to the broadcast of your personal information. What this means is that if you use the store phone to pay your bill the following information can be anywhere in the world before you leave the store. This information includes but is not limited to Your name Your telephone number Your pin Your credit card number(s) Expiration date CRV codes Last 4 of social Answers to security questions. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SECURITY ISSUE I tried telling Sabrina, a store employee about this and explained that they are transmitting in the clear all of their customers sensitive data putting them in a position of EXTREME VULNERABILITY to identity theft. I expressed specific concern about the risk she is placing senior citizens in for identity theft. Her response is that was "it is a service we provide". Am I to understand that Identity theft for senior citizens is a service Verizon and TCC proudly provides? I go into the store to talk to the manager while there are no customers in the store and to express my concerns about Sabrina and her blatant disregard for the protection of sensitive data for the customers. I try to do so in a quiet means so corrective action can be taken without letting any bad guys know about it. I tried to explain in the simplest of terms. I tried telling her to just simply do a YouTube search and see for herself. I was interrupted about a minute into explaining this with the question "Are you going to buy anything" and I said no, and immediately I was told that I had to leave the store or she would call the police. Shortly after I bring in my phone for service and was told that I had to leave the store or she would call the police. I am a permanently and totally disabled vet. I went into the store to have my phone serviced so I can use it. I have numerous serious health issues due to military service and it is important that I have a working phone if I'm traveling for any distance. I was told that I had to leave the store and go to another Verizon store if I wanted to have my phone serviced because of the last time I was in the store. Simply put the management of TCC will threaten and punish customers if you bring the fact that you don't want all of your information spoon fed to identity thieves. I called the corporate headquarters and was put on hold for a long time only to be sent to an answering machine. I was finally called back two days later by Detra Mills, Vice President of legal affairs. I told her that she had a serious security problem and that I was about to publish detailed instructions on how this security flaw can be exploited because I had tried repeatedly to get this problem solved and nobody would listen. She did not express any concern over the tens of thousands of identities that could have been stolen. Instead she immediately threatened me with calling the FBI on me if I had gone public. I'm a veteran of four wars, although disabled I'm not going to back down because of an attempt of intimidation, especially if your companies will allow its managers to retaliate against its vulnerable customers. How many senior citizens has this manager refused service because they brought up an issue. You are willfully hurting senior citizens. I have tried repeatedly on numerous levels of both companies to correct this security breach. Hopefully somebody at Verizon will actually care enough to actually read this. There has been no press release and no mitigating action take by either company. I am aware that Verizon doesn't know about the problem, even though I have personally informed their security manager. I'm a regular Verizon Belfair customer and I typically come into this store a little worried and wondering who's going to "help" me today. A few weeks ago I came in to ask a question and a very tall young man basically told me he didn't know how to do his job and basically threw a number at me and told me to figure it out myself. But, the other day, I came in to upgrade my phone to the newest iPhone. There was a young lady there who's name I can't remember but I believed started with a Z who helped me in the quickest, best manner with the greatest customer service I've ever witnessed in my lifetime. I inquired that she was relatively new to the job but that made no difference as she knew what she was doing already and did it like a pro! I highly recommend this sales rep.
