While troubleshooting my modem issues online I ended up "upgrading" my internet plan since my contract was up, but I managed to get the same price I was paying for another year without a contract and with a free modem and twice the internet speed. Score. (I wanted the 5 year price lock guarantee, but that wasn't available). I didn't want to deal with shipping a modem back and forth so I ran into the store to swap it out. It took like 30 seconds to return it, and then they got me the new one a minute or two later and I was on my way. Probably the least obnoxious Xfinity store experience I've had....hopefully next year when my price promo is up it won't be frustrating.

I love the fact that he said to them "you will be paying for your old phones while paying for your new phones" and he didn't seem at all like he was thinking what I was - which was "why? and what world are you in that you need the latest iPhone at all times"- but alas I am a curmudgeon when it comes to waste somewhat so that is my problem and the way he treated everyone was excellent! He didn't make them feel stupid for wanting the latest tech and he wasn't pushy - as a matter of fact the only thing he mentioned was that he just wanted to make sure they were aware that they would be raising their bill by X amount a month. Then it was my turn and he apologized profusely for having me wait - which I had expected - any time you go into a cell phone store I expect at least a 30 - 60 min wait time (unless it is a genius bar appointment - at which time you will wait over 11/2 hours (at least the one in old orchard)- and this is when I had an appointment lol. So yes go to this Verizon above all if you want to get a good deal and a sales associate who will get you it - you have found the right place.

However some things to note:…read more-The internet can be knocked out during bad weather (snow storms, thunderstorms, etc) since it is delivered wirelessly to the building (at least in my building's case). -Reliability when weather isn't a factor is incredibly high in my experience compared to other ISPs. -Speed is awesome. My building is supported for 100mbps, but I usually get around 200-300mbps download speeds, and at least 200mbps upload speed at all times. Sometimes my upload or download will peak around 500mbps. -Their support staff really knows their stuff. It's not like calling another ISP's support where you get tier1 support who asks you do to the basic troubleshooting. The support staff you get when you first call is likely the person who will truly be able to fix your issue. I work in IT, and absolutely appreciate this. THAT SAID, their hold times when calling for support are usually pretty terrible. I've been on hold before (including last night) for 1+ hours and then the call gets disconnected for whatever reason. Their email/online support is pretty lackluster. No way of updating or creating tickets online short of emailing them. In my current case, I've emailed them in response to a ticket and they seem to ignore the email altogether. I'm now trying to call them to get the issue resolved. Overall, I'd give them an A- as a grade. If they could up their support, it'd be the best ISP out there.

When I got back on Sunday, my internet was still down. Alex came over Sunday night after carving pumpkins with his kids. He diagnosed that there must have been a power surge that took 6 or 7 units offline on Friday. In the process, my router got toasted. I live in an old building and I'm embarrased to admit I didn't have a surge protector on it. He not only diagnosed my dead router, he gave me a new one I could have until I got another one.
