I recommend their service, not so much their prices. They are overpriced compared to AT & T and T-Mobile. The real reason I stay with them is because they work almost everywhere I go unlike some of the competitors. I had accidentally purchased a Verizon phone on bestbuy.com. I came in to get it activated, and they actually activated it for the minimum amount of money (a $35 one time paygo plan) with no upselling, lying or hard selling. The service rep, Sarah, activated and set up the phone as part of the process. I have had such terrible experiences with multiple other carriers that I was thrilled that the rep at this store actually helped me out without trying to scam me. If we ever decide to switch carriers, we will definitely look at Verizon first. read more

Great experience here yesterday when I went in to upgrade my iPhone 6+ to the 8+. If you're not wanting to wait around in the store, be sure to get there early, I got there 15 minutes before opening and there were already 3 other people waiting. By the time they came to open the doors, about 10 other people had arrived. Got helped right away. Got the phone, accessories and activation all done quickly. Only paid $20 for my purchase, traded in my 6+ that had some damage, got a $50 phone case and a $40 screen protector, paid only $20 out of pocket. The gentleman that took care of me was awesome. Hands down the best Verizon experience I have ever had. I had questions about my business phone and my personal phone. I arrived before the scheduled opening only to see multiple people doing the same. I was expecting to be greeted by disgruntled employees annoyed that there were already 4 people waiting. I was pleasantly proved very wrong. They were so enthusiastically excited to see customers - even told us we were late. I got a high five walking in the door: literally made my day. They helped me with all of my questions and were beyond friendly. Having had experience where I literally want to drive my car into the front window at other locations - this was a breath of fresh air! read more

I have now been to this store twice to get my Galaxy set up--it continues to have problems. It will not work with my car. The check in person was very unhelpful, and told me he thought that the phone would not work with the car because of the age of the car and that it was incompatible with my new phone. It turns out that the phone is endlessly updating itself and no one at Verizon or Samsung can figure out why. The person who actually ran the diagnostics on my phone was helpful, but they need better customer service at check in. read more

Verizon is terrible. They sneak in hidden fees and overcharge for everything. Their customer care service line will not get you anywhere. If you don't take down their badge number and information you will not be able to get a hold of them again or get anything resolved. Worst Service. I requested that my regular account transfer to a prepaid account. Took about 4 hours and they ended up cancelling my account and did not open new prepaid account for me. They only blame their computer system is weird. I never heard a single apology, and in the end - they demand that I solve the problem with verizon call center or visit this place AGAIN the next day. They also opened up two accounts without my consent and now I have three accounts to cancel. read more

If I could leave this place 0 stars I would. How can there can be 10 employees walking around doing nothing and you still have to wait for your name to be called to get helped . While you wait they blare rock and roll music in your ear. You can't speak over the loud music so when you finally get help you're yelling. All I came to do was cancel one of the numbers on my contract, half hour later still waiting. Needless to say Verizon charges to much. I'm canceling each#as the contract becomes expired. read more

I just had the best experience buying a phone ever. Elizabeth (Liz) and Jennifer were so helpful. Liz was very informative and helped us to make the best choice for our new phone plan. She explained everything before we signed each time and stayed well past close to help us get our phones all squared away. Jennifer helped us pick out accessories and answer any additional questions. I been with Verizon for 4 years I switched over to them I heard so many good things about their wide coverage. The service I had before the calls kept on dropping I got tired of being in a middle of and conversation my call would drop. So I decided to leave them and go to Verizon and give them a shot. The coverage always been great never had a problem with dropped calls. But now I have a problem with some equipment I returned several weeks ago. Verizon always been prompted by text and e-mail and let me know they received the equipment. This time the department who takes care of this still have not credit it back into my account yet their slacking off. Their still going to make me pay for the balance of this bill from the equipment I returned back I am not happy about it. While back I changed my phone number and the website was not working you can change your number for free if you use their website. I was getting frustrated with the website and told Verizon about it. They said they would not charge me for the 15.00 for changing it for me. Now today as I was trying to get this bill resolved after a few tries still no solution. They told me they charged me for the 15.00 for them changing the number why would they tell you that and turned around do something different. I agree they don't seem to care and I wont be signing a new contract anymore. If I want another phone I buy it from craigslist or eBay I am tired of buying a 500.00 phone. its not worth it its like buying a new laptop the value goes down. And trying to trade in your phone its not worth the trade the value goes down. read more

Horrible customer service. I went in to inquire about getting a new smartphone, and all the guy told me was that my current phone sucked, was old, and worth nothing. All things I already know, but he kept telling me that anyway with a condescending tone. Then, when I asked for differences between my current phone and their news ones, he said he didn't know, but that "there's this thing called Google" I could use to find out, again with a very condescending and antagonistic tone. Also, don't give them your phone number. He asked me for it before answering any of my questions, even though I didn't want to do anything with my account. We have had so many issues with this store! We have been lied to several times by sales staff who are desperate to make a sale--it has gotten to the point where I actually have come to suspect that store management trains them to "bait and switch" customers to boost their sales figures. This most recent time, management acted like they didn't want to help us, which is very suspicious. She seemed to not care that we walked out threatening to switch to another phone service. I called Verizon corporate and complained--and their call person was very helpful and fixed the problems we went to discuss with the store staff. She also promised to forward the issue to be investigated, so if you have been hoodwinked by the people at this store, I recommend calling Verizon Customer Service and reporting it--the more reports they get, the stronger the case will be for the investigation team from corporate. read more

BEWARE: Sales associates at this location use VERY aggressive and misleading sales tactics. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted to purchase. The man who assisted me took out a pad of paper and outlined my "three options." ALL of which were up-sells and ALL of which were more expensive than what I wanted. He presented these as my ONLY options in a very pushy way- had I not done my homework, I may have gotten suckered in. When I told him I didn't want to buy any of the packages, he got aggressive, not taking no for an answer. We kept going back and forth- me telling him what I'd like to buy, and him responding that "maybe I just wasn't understanding" and condescendingly going through his pitch again. It wasn't until my partner stepped in and said "Hey buddy, you heard her- she just wants the phone and the plan" that he finally huffed off and did what I had asked him (that is, sell me the phone I wanted to buy). I saw similar behavior from several other associates on the floor. I understand that everyone has a sales target to meet, but these kinds of tactics are rude, dishonest and predatory. Shame on the manager of this store for putting such pressure on the associates. I won't be returning to this location, and would encourage anyone considering shopping here to 1) do your research before and walk in knowing what you want/ what the price point is, and 2) bring a friend to back you up in case a sales associate gives you a hard time. read more

He broke down the costs, gave us multiple plan options, and was extremely patient with us while we tried to figure out what plan and devices were best for us. I'm a new Verizon customer and I found myself in a customer disservice rock and a hard place between Verizon Corporate and the local Verizon Store. Apparently the local Verizon Store doesn't dip into the same budget as the people you call on the phone (and this is the "official" Verizon Store, not a local franchise store like Barbeck), so they set their own policies about how to deal with problems with phones. I bought the Motorola Droid RAZR, I really enjoy this phone for the most part, but there's been a nagging issue with the battery not wanting to charge fully, it somehow gets "stuck" at a certain charging point, most often 60%, but unfortunately not every time. I called Verizon Corporate and they said that I could either get a refurbished phone from them or go to the local store and they would provide me with a new phone with a $35 restocking fee. I told them I would go to the local store and argue with them about the "restocking" fee. I mean really, I just bought a brand new phone and it has a major issue, it's defective from the factory, and I have to pay to get a replacement? No. "Refurbished" often means that a phone was returned by someone else who had a problem with the phone (or they may have just decided they didn't like it) and I get to inherit it. No, if I'm paying $600 for a freaking phone, I am paying for a new, problem free phone and I should at least have a new one for the first month for crying out loud. So I go to the local Verizon Store and I'm told that they have to see the problem demonstrated in order for them to provide a replacement phone. This is of course difficult because the issue does not manifest itself every time it's charged. This means I have to drive across town, have them plug my phone in and leave it there for "several hours" to see if it happens to demonstrate the problem. The burden of proof is on me. Nevermind that I had only possessed the phone two or three days when I first brought it in, there was no damage to the phone, I have no reason to try and fool them into giving me another new phone and it's a bit of an insult to my intelligence to say that I don't know that my phone is actually at 60% charge after it's been on the charger all night long. I visited the store a second time after having installed an app that graphs my battery life and showed that the graph indicated that the battery was sticking at 60% for a couple of hours and then continued charging until I got up when it was at 80%. But this wasn't good enough, I was using a "third party app". Come on local Verizon Store, give your customer a little benefit of the doubt, put yourself in my position and think about what a pain in the a** these hoops are that I'm being made to jump through in order to own a phone that I just handed over a god awful amount of money to you for, you've got me in a contract for a monthly payment that I would have never dreamed of forking over a couple of years ago. I was with T-Mobile for seven years, if their voice services covered my little corner of town, I'd still be with them, because they treated me the way a customer should be treated. I had issues with my Nexus One, I called them, they performed some troubleshooting over the phone and then they shipped me a new phone with a packet to return the original. When all was said and done, I called Verizon Corporate and thankfully I spoke with someone who was willing to work with me and told me he could send me a new phone if I put the retail charge on my credit card and they'd refund the amount when they received my original phone. I don't really see what the point of the local Verizon Store is other than to create problems, because Corporate sends you there as their first line of defense, but then the local store doesn't really want to help you because they have to use their own money and so you have to call Corporate back and plead with them to assist you. I suppose if you aren't technologically savvy, if you need help learning how to use your phone or something like that, they're probably very helpful, but if it involves money for something that's broken, forget about it. I don't blame the person who I worked with, I don't even blame the manager who spoke with the Verizon Corporate person and told them there was nothing they could do, I blame whoever wrote the policy and doesn't allow their employees any flexibility. They should know that I'm going to stick with the RAZR because I want a Lapdock 500, I want an HD dock, I'm going to buy toys to go with my RAZR but I'll be damned if I'm going to buy them at the local Verizon Store in Champaign, IL, I'll be damned if I go there to buy an upgrade phone in the future, because I had a major problem with the brand new phone I bought from Verizon and they made it as hard as possible for me to find relief and it caused me a lot of stress and disappointment. @VerizonNews Yesterday I was on the road for my job and when I went to use my phone I noticed that the phone was power off and the home button was very hot. I stop by a Verizon store located @ 910 W. Town Center Blvd in Champaign, IL. I was the only black customer, my name was called by a over weight white man. I explained what was going on with my phone, he immediately gave the phone to his co-worker asking her does the phone feel hot, she she said "no"and he refused to trouble shot my phone, I explained that I just purchased the phone on March 11th and can I at least get a new phone. He said no you don't have the box and I can't help you. I noticed that all the WHITE people in the store getting treated with dignity and respect. The man was laughing at me to his co worker saying that this phone is not hot and I can't help you. Black people need to be aware of Verizon Wireless on how they treat black people. They have the most expensive prices on the market put only choose to serve certain customers. read more

I went in to upgrade my phone. I had already jumped in and out of fire rings with another local Verizon dealer and I was a tad worn from their crap. At this new location, the saleswoman, Shannon, gave me the quick shark approach and when I needed to call a relative on the plan to verify some info, Shannon seemed to lose interest and she became very rude and quick to let me get on my way. I told her I'd be back in a few minutes with the relative ( I was told he wouldn't need to be there for the transaction by another Verizon employee ). She said "Ok". I came back 20 minutes later and couldn't find her. Two men were talking behind the counter and didn't take much notice until I approached them. The salesman, JC, helped me with the upgrade. He was very knowledgable and professional, and he took care of everything. I was thankful and he was very helpful to me and my relative. In short, 1st salesperson sucked. She was very rude and kinda haggard, you could tell she didn't really want to be there. But the second salesperson was better. And I have a new phone that works great and I like it a lot. If I need to go back to this store for anything, I will just make sure not to speak with Shannon. read more

My wife and I upgraded two of our phones at this location on Friday 1/22/16. I wish I could remember the name of the guy that took care of us. I do remember that we discussed where he went to college at and that he was a college hurdler. I figured I would add that in just in case his boss reads this. I would like for them to be able to identify him. He was fantastic and made sure I understood all charges and changes to my bill. He patiently answered all my questions and didn't rush me. We even told him that if we owned a business, we would love to hire him. Very good experience with great service. A++ The only negative was that the LG G4 phone I wanted was out of stock. He was able to order it and have it shipped to my house. I should receive it this Monday. So I only have to wait a few days. read more

I have been a Verizon customer since 2000 when the company was formed. I have stayed with Verizon because of their cell coverage (only). I never have dropped calls no matter what part of the country I am in. Verizon is a great company if you opt to buy a phone from them, sign a 2 year contract and NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR PHONE during the contract period. If you do have a problem with your phone during the contract period, forget about getting any assistance. I was midway through my 2 year contract when my keyboard locked up and would not work. I called Verizon to see if I could get a price break on a replacement phone. $200.00 was the price they gave me and that was on a refurbished phone. I am aware that several companies manufacture products with Planned Obsolescence, but my phone was less than a year old. After a week of not being able to text, the phone suddenly started working again. My contract is now up and I have received several messages from Verizon that I am now eligible for a new phone and a new 2 year contract. I decided not to sign a new contract with them at this time. I am going to keep my old phone until it dies. I can still keep the same plan, but not be locked into a new contract until I REALLY need a new phone. Verizon Wireless has become so large that they don't really care if they lose loyal customers. I am an older consumer and I remember when good customer service was a priority with companies after they sold you their product. That is not the case anymore. Verizon has the attitude that if they lose one customer another will take their place and they are right. read more

The salespeople at this store WILL prey on you. If you go in seeking an upgrade for a new phone, they will offer you 3 upgrade "packages," all of which include overpriced extras and their HUM service + device. If you only want the phone, make sure you deny all other extras. Their screen protectors, cases, and car chargers are all overpriced compared to other stores and/or on Amazon. They will push back and make you feel like you aren't understanding what they're selling, so you'll have to remain adamant. I mentioned immediately that I wanted a phone with 128 gigabytes, 32 gigabytes is not enough. There was no confusion about that and I trusted the salesman to give me the product for which I asked. However, I realized after I left the store that I was given a 32 gigabyte phone. He blatantly gave me wrong phone. And by the way, if you wish to return a wireless device that you've walked out the door with, you'll pay a $35 restocking fee for each such device. (HUM is a wireless device.) The bottom line is that if you want just a new phone and are willing to pay for it monthly, you should only pay a $30 upgrade fee. If they push anything more on you, do yourself a favor and shop on Verizon's website. read more

The Verizon store on Town Center Blvd in Champaign is perhaps the worse example of customer service I've ever witnessed. Wait....there's the DMV. No. Actually I think this Verizon store is worse than the DMV. It's that bad. The problem isn't with my Verizon phone service. I have no complaints there. My problem is going to this location and trying to get a new phone, switch a phone, or do anything for my cell phone and having to wait 45 minutes to get waited on. Last week I waited 55 minutes. Today I was told, at 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon, that there was a 45 minute wait. Unacceptable and pathetic. There is really no excuse for subjecting customers to that long of a wait. Hire more staff and shorten the wait times. Verizon customers pay premium prices compared to other carriers so I certainly expect premium customer service. I'll go to Wireless Mike's or any other location besides this place. My advice....stay away unless you bring a few snacks and drinks and a folding chair. You'll be there a while. read more
