He handled everything professionally and figured out the relevant plans to be applied in order to win the customer experience. I was on the phone for almost 2 hours though.     Astound is using a very old Americast Infrastructure to push out their 1Gbps package, and 1.5 Gbps…read morepackages. Unfortunately, their download speeds come close to the advertised speed for the package, the upload is a whole nother story. Astound can ONLY DELIVER ASYMMETRICAL Internet Speeds to their customers which is unheard of in 2026........ This basically means, you might get the 1Gbps or 1.5Gbps Download Speed but your Upload Speed is STRICTLY CAPPED AT 20Mbps..........this is unacceptable. Especially when their ONLY COMPETITOR is Xfinity, and their Internet speeds ARE SYMMETRICAL (equal Download and Upload speeds), so if you buy the 1Gb package from Xfinity, you get 1Gbps Download and Upload Speeds. Their is ONE very major drawback to Xfinity though. They CAP your Internet Data ALLOWANCE to 1.2Tb for the month. I would easily blow past that Data CAP as I work from home as a Network Administrator. So when you surpass 1.2Tb of data, they start OVERCHARGING YOU A TON, and you might even be downgraded as far as Internet Speeds go. So you have to pick between these two shitty deals in Chicago and NW Suburbs. I was with WOW when Astound bought out the Americast Infrastructure from WOW Internet. At that time, the Upload Speeds were capped at 60mbps on the 600Mbps/ 1Gbps Speed package. I noticed the drop immediately when they capped the upload speed from 60mbps-20Mbps. This was due to too much traffic on the Line. Astound only has 3 nodes on their Line. Xfinity has 6-8 nodes per Line. Hope this helped, Astoud is losing thousands of customers a month with this sly bait and switch BS with the Upload speed. I'm moving on to Xfinity next month, 20mbps is waaaaaaayyyy to slow in 2026........

However some things to note:…read more-The internet can be knocked out during bad weather (snow storms, thunderstorms, etc) since it is delivered wirelessly to the building (at least in my building's case). -Reliability when weather isn't a factor is incredibly high in my experience compared to other ISPs. -Speed is awesome. My building is supported for 100mbps, but I usually get around 200-300mbps download speeds, and at least 200mbps upload speed at all times. Sometimes my upload or download will peak around 500mbps. -Their support staff really knows their stuff. It's not like calling another ISP's support where you get tier1 support who asks you do to the basic troubleshooting. The support staff you get when you first call is likely the person who will truly be able to fix your issue. I work in IT, and absolutely appreciate this. THAT SAID, their hold times when calling for support are usually pretty terrible. I've been on hold before (including last night) for 1+ hours and then the call gets disconnected for whatever reason. Their email/online support is pretty lackluster. No way of updating or creating tickets online short of emailing them. In my current case, I've emailed them in response to a ticket and they seem to ignore the email altogether. I'm now trying to call them to get the issue resolved. Overall, I'd give them an A- as a grade. If they could up their support, it'd be the best ISP out there.

I hate my current internet and cable company-- Layer3 come to NYC please!! My brother had Layer3 installed one morning while I was visiting. I complained and expected the worst, but it was literally the easiest experience ever. This nice install rep (hi Chris!) came perfectly on time and did the entire setup for us in a few minutes - he was very pleasant and funny. I had no idea what this new cable was, so he spent time explaining and showing us a few pointers to make sure we understood the software. It's like a no contract, no fee, amazing cable company that has even higher quality imaging. Plus virtually unlimited DVR space (Hello binge watching!) Oh and it's less expensive than what I'm paying for UGHHHHH. The Damage: I believe the price is different depending where you are, so worth calling to see. I'll be signing up a soon as they come to Manhattan

I stuck with them a little longer but the quality of their services quickly deteriorated. I used to consider them the gold standard but i had to switch after a mystery charge appeared on my bill that they couldn't explain to me. I told them i was leaving and they didn't even care. I also refuse to go to Comcast. I noticed an ad for Layer 3 tv online and decided to try it out. Let me preface by stating i have a 1gigabit internet thru the fine folks from RCN who also have excellent customer service. Layer3 TV is an internet based cable solution. Their feed runs thru your internet. and they have 4K. I admit i was skeptical at first but once i switched i have not looked back. The picture quality is amazing and the customer service is outstanding. They are new to the Chicago area so there are a few kinks but you can tell with the technology they use they will become a force. Please keep doing what you are doing I enjoy your services immensely.

We were told we'd receive $1,000 towards trade-ins which was untrue as well. Their staff has zero training when it comes to multi-tasking. One person might be helping you and three other people at the same time vs just giving someone their full attention. They're taking phone calls and meetings while they're supposedly helping, unprofessional to say the least. The icing on the cake was when we were cancelling our service the store manager took a picture of us on the sly to tell his associate we were cancelling. Who takes pictures of their customers. This store is the worst. Store manager I know you're going to comment and say let's talk and let's see how I can help. Just teach Jake how to tell the truth with customers. Teach Tramel to not take pictures of customers. Very unprofessional. This place sucks.

In all that time, the Internet rarely has gone out…read more Maybe once or twice a year tops -- they always send a text to my cell telling me it's out and they're working on it -- sometimes even before I realize it. The pricing is very reasonable, and hasn't changed in the last four years -- which given inflation is remarkable. When the internet went out on Friday, I was out of town for the weekend. When I got back on Sunday, my internet was still down. Alex came over Sunday night after carving pumpkins with his kids. He diagnosed that there must have been a power surge that took 6 or 7 units offline on Friday. In the process, my router got toasted. I live in an old building and I'm embarrased to admit I didn't have a surge protector on it. He not only diagnosed my dead router, he gave me a new one I could have until I got another one. This is huge since I work from home. Can't recommend this company enough!
