I had a really good experience here. I brought in a Meta Quest headset that had a cracked housing around the charging port and side arm. The headset still powered on and charged, and I mainly wanted the structure stabilized rather than replacing major components. One thing I would say to anyone bringing in electronics is to be clear about your expectations and what you want done. Once we were on the same page, the team here was extremely respectful and easy to work with. They installed the battery accessory I brought with me, carefully stabilized the housing and arm with epoxy, and made sure it had plenty of time to cure before sending me home with it. The headset now feels solid again and works just the way I hoped it would. What I appreciated most was that they were willing to work toward a practical solution instead of pushing an expensive full replacement. A lot of repair shops try to upsell or turn small problems into big bills, but that was not my experience here at all. Friendly, professional, and fair. In regard to replacing my cartridges I should have bought it at Microcenter or Best Buy. They lied on the cost of the color cartridges telling me it was $1.99 each when it was $11.99 each for color cartridges for my Epson Workforce 545 over the phone as well as the main black cartridge being $11.99 instead of $18.99. Other than that the cartridges work but lesson learned to buying from small shady tech businesses like this in downtown Chicago coming from the North side of Chicago when calling a quote over the phone. read more

Regarding phone/laptop repair, they over charge you with several hidden fees and return partially fixed to unfixed products without any refund. They charged me in 150$ for fixing my laptop though they ultimately failed to. They also charged me 90$ for fixing my phone but they ultimately failed to fix any of the issues at all. And these were minor issues, most of the cost was not communicated to me upfront as I wouldn't have gone ahead if it was 90$. They charge you a lot extra when they return the product. I called them up and they were eagerly ready to assist me with my needs. I was at the Apple store downtown when i called and the guy told me that he would help fix my phone and also bless me because the price the apple store quoted me was way beyond what i could afford at the time. The communication here is ridiculous. I'm thankful that my laptop is back in one piece and I didn't have to pay a dime. My laptop's mother board gave out on me so I brought it here to get diagnosed. (closest place to me) I dropped it off on a Wednesday morning. There was no repair guy on site. The working associate did not know a single thing about electronics or how to multitask. Anytime the door would open or the phone rang he got really nervous and flustered. I left my laptop there, because someone was to "call" me later that day. I eventually called because I didn't hear anything from them. They said they needed time. So, I gave them some.. (Sunday) Nothing. No calls. I was going to just pick up my laptop at this point because obviously they weren't getting around to it. They're closed! I called Monday morning and they said they'd get on it. Tuesday morning someone calls me and tells me my laptop's condition would cost me $250 to repair. -pass. I told them i'd call them back and let them know what should be done. I called back around 3 PM, and told the guy I was just going to pick it up around 6 and not have it repaired. He understood. When I got here at 630PM, the same confused associate was there. confused as ever. Couldn't find my laptop. I left, Angry. Someone called me the next morning. saying my laptop was there the whole time but was taken apart in the back because I never stated if i wanted it fixed or not.. Very cool. I finally got to pick it up one week after dropping it off. Everyone that works here needs to learn how to communicate. Apparently, no one does. That is the KEY to business. Good luck. read more

Used this shop for an iPad repair due to proximity. My experience as follows: Screen: fixed * (see below) Bezel - nearly destroyed during process ($5 taken off bill for my trouble) Glass replaced and adhesive pulling apart now LCD fuzzy? I will now need to diagnose why the brand new screen has a strange effect, I suspect they forgot to remove the scratch wrapper from the LCD. Price - Excessive, easily 20-30% over other providers farther away. Result - I tried to go with the convenient choice and got burned. read more

I have used CIT twice now; once to fix a broken screen on my Samsung S4 and recently to repair my husband's cracked HP Envy laptop screen. He had wedged a spiral notebook in between the screen and keyboard. Really? I digress... The service has always been completed in a timely manner (cell repair in about an hour or so--there's a coffee shop nearby where you can wait if you like) and at prices lower than other repair places I've used in the past. I was given coupons on my first visit which I was able to use the next time I went in. Sweet! I brought my wife's iPhone in for repair on a Saturday. They fixed the phone and the turnaround time was very quick. I saved a lot of money and time by dropping my phone off with them instead of gong to the Apple store downtown. I also found out they repair computers, laptops, printers and other phones like my Samsung Galaxy phone. They also have printer toner cartridges and other supplies. Came here to get my iphone6s screen fixed after a couple of tumbles off the counter. The staff told me it would take 20 minutes to fix, a price, and also offered me a screen protector as well! 15 minutes later the phone was fixed, screen protector was on, and then made sure everything on the phone worked( hard touch, volume, screen brightness, vibration, all buttons work, bluetooth worked, sent and received phone calls and text messages, along with both cameras working, and was able to be charged). All in all, im super satisfied with the service I received here and will continue to refer and use this place for any further phone issues! read more

Came in here a few times for my ipad2 repair. I tried fixing the screen myself by ordering parts off of Amazon and used a YouTube tutorial to fix it which inevitably did not work. The pricing on the screen repair from Chicago Ink and toner was very fair and not to mention I had to bring it back twice for some software issues and a screen lock problem which they took care of for me at no additional cost. I can't say enough good things about ChicagoiRepair. My daughter's Iphone 5c screen cracked last week, and an emergency appointment on Friday (2/27) made 24hrs in advance to a repair shop in Hyde Park was canceled 3 hours before the appointed time. A follow-up appointment for the same Hyde Park business for today (3/2) was canceled 3.5hrs before the stated time b/c "we ran out of Iphone 5c screens". On 3/1 the Iphone was so damaged it would no longer power on. I was told I could have an appointment for next week when their shipment of screens came in. Mind you, its Monday. I found ChicagoiRepair on yelp at 2:15pm on 3/2, called to confirm they performed repairs, walked into their business at 3:50pm and in less than an hour, the very damaged Iphone had a beautiful new screen, turned on easily, and all buttons & programs worked. The price was fantastic and there's an extended warranty (120 days, better than some other places). Also, the manager was so kind and accommodating. This is my place of choice for any future repairs for our Iphones, Ipads, and my android phone! read more

some words that would describe my experience at Chicago i Repair (824 s Wabash)- EXCELLENT! & OVERLY SATISFIED!. I called around to other phone repair stores and all of them told me i had to schedule an appointment or they wouldn't be able to squeeze me in for a walk-in appointment. Chicago i Repair took my phone right through the door.. no appointment needed! i have an iPhone 4s and my entire screen had broke off and my touch screen stopped working, the antenna was bent out of place, & the mic piece was damaged. 1 hour later... IT WAS BRAND NEW AGAIN. the staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, and EXTREMELY HELPFUL every time a customer came in with a question or problem, the staff members answers and responses would be "yea we can help with that... no problem...yes we have that part..." each customer left satisfied. other phone repair stores don't have customer friendly waiting areas. Chicago i Repair has two desktop computers with super high speed internet (much appreciated!) and sense its located in the south loop area, downtown Chicago is just a brief walk away if you don't want to surf the net while you wait.. Brought my printer cartridges in expecting to just buy the HP brand replacement. The guy at the counter said that they only carry a Wox brand double capacity cartridge because: "we find that our customers like more ink." Makes sense. So take them home and load them up. They weren't easy to get in, had to push real hard before they clicked. My printer immediately gives them the Heisman: "cartridges broken or missing." Fortunately, my wife is in tech support and pulled them out, took the sensor chips off (they were all askew, like they were stuck on by angry monkeys) straightened them out, and put them back in. We had to go through this 2-3 times for every cartridge (we have several because of the color printer) before the printer would let its hackles down and begin to work. Even then, the color was a little funny. When I called the store back and explained what happened, the guy said that this is the first he has heard of this problem and didn't offer store credit or anything for the trouble. Not that this is really, absolutely necessary but it would have been nice given that this whole process took about an hour longer than it should have. Lastly, those babies weren't cheap. $67 for one change out, though maybe that is par for the course for the incredible, ridiculous, scandalous, uber-rip off that is the world of printer cartridges. Shady, man. I would give this place one star if the counter guy wasn't personable. I must at least given them that. read more

I came here as a last resort because I ran out of toner unexpectedly. I would have just refilled my toner myself but I needed it, and I needed it quick. Thankfully the shop is here (which is the reason for the one star). I stopped in with my old toner (Brother OEM toner) and was under the impression that they would just refill it there. Well instead they switched my Brother OEM toner cartridge with a generic toner cartridge and then took my Brother OEM toner without asking. By the time I got home, I didn't realize that they took my old Brother OEM toner cartridge without asking or giving me a credit (Staples and Office Depot give you a credit when you DONATE your cartridge). I know they took the old cartridge and are going to use it to refill and then gain revenue from that. Revenue I'll never see. I couldn't go back that day to demand my old cartridge because I was busy and I thought going back a day or two later wouldn't make sense because the cashier probably wouldn't remember...or pretend not to remember. On top of that the toner price was double the prices of anything online. I'm not comparing the prices of Staples or Office Depot because those are Brother OEM cartridges. I'm comparing similar generic toner on the web. Sadly I'll never return and sadly I'll have to take my business away from a small business and to a big box retailer. read more

I first used Chicago Ink and Toner about 2 years ago when I needed a new toner cartridge (ASAP because of a project I was completing). I had a discount voucher and it was only a few blocks away, so I could get what I needed quicker and as economically than any other places I had researched. My experience then and on many occasions since has been nothing but positive+. I had some initial concern about the cartridge not being the original manufacturer's, but there has been absolutely no difference in print quality or with the toner meeting quantity specifications. The fact that I receive substantial monthly discount coupons by email only serves to solidify my satisfaction and my status as a regular customer. read more
