I went to Verizon in Corte Madera to upgrade my smartphone. When I walked in, I was told that there were two customers in front of me and that I would be helped shortly. There were two other customers in the store and four employee walking around (not helping the customers). After waiting for 45 minutes, one person had been helped and I was still waiting. One of the sales people was acting as a greeter because the greeter had gone to lunch. She asked what I needed and then I was told that I didn't have the proper account clearance to upgrade my device. I made myself an account manager online quickly in the store, (which took 5 minutes) and when I asked where I was in line again, she said that two people were ahead of me. I waited another 45 minutes and when I still hadn't been helped, I left. If you can help it, don't do anything in store. This is the second time I've have to wait for two hours to be helped in this particular store, and both times there had been only two or three customers in line. read more

I got the EXACT same shpiel from one of the "I can't be bothered" "service" employees at the Corte Madera Verizon store. Verizon has been my cellular provider for 15+ years and service is very good overall, so I was disappointed though not surprised (this IS Marin!) by the level of service and unprofessional manner. Wherever the fault lies - store manager, regional manager or donkey, the folks there ought to thank their 401K, health insured asses that they're employed !!! The yelp reviews almost convinced me not to visit this location... but I'm glad I went. Upon entry I was checked in by Ryan w/ great communication around how long my wait might be + an offer to help earlier if possible. Then within the promised time I saw a tech support person (Carlos) who went to town several times in an effort to get my phone fixed. In the end my phone (Galaxy S4) is still a brick... but they guys here were professional and helpful. So +1 for service here. read more

Going to this store makes a root canal at the dentist pleasurable. I have been a Verizon customer for about 15 years. I tried to return a cover that protects my phone, the item still had the price sticker on it, first was told, I couldn't return it since it was over 14 days, then they finally consented to let me exchange it for something else in their overpriced store. I went to the Verizon store because my phone was having 2 issues. The first issue was that the battery was not holding a charge. The second issue was my phone was shutting down by itself after having some kind of glitch, consisting of a pretty interesting light show on the screen. I have the insurance plan so I thought it wouldn't be an issue to get a replacement phone. After all, I have been paying for the insurance for years. The man who took care of me went over and spoke with the manager after hearing what was wrong with my phone. He told me that I had to go home, download iOS 11 and then if my phone still has issues, I could come back. I asked him why downloading the new iOS would help and why I needed to do that in order to get a phone that worked. He then told me that the alternative would be to see the glitch with his own eyes. Needless to say, I walked out and called Verizon at 611. They gained access to my phone remotely, ran a diagnostic, and immediately told me that my battery was shot. The very nice tech, on the phone, also explained to me that the performance of batteries on iPhones significantly goes down after 500 charges. I had no idea this happened. They told me that they would send me a new phone and I would have it by Friday. My first question is, why couldn't the store do this test? It took them about 2 minutes to complete this over the phone. Second, why would they be telling customers, who are having issues with phones holding a charge, to download iOS 11? It would only make the situation worse (part of an article on this issue below). "iOS 11 is already installed on more than a quarter of existing iOS devices, but it's not all good news for users who installed it. Slower performance and battery life issues are among the most problematic "features" of iOS 11. And while things will surely get better as Apple further improves iOS 11, some of you will still have to live with worse battery life on your iPhones." My first thought was to change carriers because of the lack of customer service at this store. However, due to the very knowledgeable tech over the phone, I have more faith in the company and have decided to forego the store instead. read more

One star is too high. The reason that Verizon spends ad dollars bragging about how they take care of you is because they DON'T intend to take care of you. If you knew how bad they were you wouldn't give them business. They "accidently" wiped out all the info, software, OS, notes, etc on my phone while giving it a simple, software service upgrade. They redered it a "brick". THEY destoyed $3000 of stored information. THEY could not resusitate it so what did they do? They didn't apologize. They did not offer another phone. Not even a loaner. They said come back in 3 days and we will have a phone for you (an old refurb phone). Goodbye, have a nice day. During the previous 4 years as a customer I paid them Thousand$$ of dollars. We went to the Verizon store to purchase a new phone (my daughter and I). We got Wen. He is a super slick sales guy who incessantly pushes and pushes. He did eventually sell us a phone. He had plenty of time to try and sell me an iPad, but grew impatient when I wanted to review my bill. He said, "just push the button" to accept all these new charges. I ended up returning everything because he was just so slimy. They made me pay a $35 restocking fee. read more

Competence is low, but errors compounded by surly, unhelpful and irritating attitude which makes Verizon appear as another of the dreadful monolithic soulless firms the modern consumer endures. I've only had very bad experiences here. First, the wait is absolutely horrendous. When I came in, I had to add myself to a waiting list. I ate lunch, came back, and I still had to wait longer. I think the fact that I had to put a star on this review is one more star than this crew deserves. I've never actually been treated so nastily by "customer service," folks anywhere, ever; even really, really frazzled toll booth operators are kinder, as are pissed off police officers. I entered the store, put my name on the list, even though it was empty. I walked around the small shop, looked at some phones just to enertain myself, and then all of the sudden my name was off of the list, but there were no other customers waiting. All I can figure is that someone whispered my name and I didn't respond, so I was taken off of the list....I put my name back on my list and then was told that the reason I came to the store, oh, to try to cash in on my phone insurance, wouldn't be dealt with on site. An extremely surly woman handed me a sticky note, with a nasty look on her face, and said, "Call them." It was akin to the "Talk to the hand, not to me" skit. I was astonished. I have never experienced such unsolicited meanness, ever, really. I'd get it if I were pissy, but I was pretty nice. I really take care when giving a negative review because as a business owner, I understand how much weight it carries and how it can really your business. Having said that..... I have been a Verizon customer for almost 3 years and always receive awesome service when I call the customer service or billing 800 numbers. I got an i-phone for christmas last year and returned it because I like my cellular service so much and didn;t want to go with ATT which is the only service that does iphones. So you can say, I am a loyal Verizon customer. BUT, the employees at this store are really an albatross to Verizon. I read another person's review about the "surly woman"..I think I got her too. She had the "you're a piece of - - - -" attitude. She was condisending and overall very pissy. I understand they have "policies", but the way she conveyed theirs and the fact that they couldn't resolve my phone mal-funtion issue was unneccessary. I asked for a manager and after she dragged him into the back to I gather, toexplain what I wanted or needed: he came out and treated me like I had mistreated her and was very cold, dry and matter-of-fact. I left the store wondering why I should stay with Verizon if they are now hiring people who don't seem to appreciate their customers or their jobs for that matter. Customer service reps are just that..they are there to kindly serve customers. I was very dissappointed with the whole experience and hope that Verizon checks out the reviews for this store, because it looks like a trend there. I signed up for an unlimited data plan many years ago when I first purchased my phone at Verizon. I upgraded my device at the Corte Madera Town Center Verizon store in December and I was assured by the salesperson that I would keep my unlimited data plan with the new phone. This month I received for the first time ever a "data overage" alert. I called Verizon and they tell me that I now have a 2GB limit on data usage and there is no way to switch back to unlimited. Was told that I would get a better deal signing up online. Went home, did so. This was all to replace a phone that was lost. When I returned, I was asked impolite questions by the salesperson, then told that I would have to agree to a two year contract to replace my lost phone (was on a month-to-month). This place has very very bad costumer service. They are either not educated or mislead costumers purposly to their benefit and take advantage of people who simply trust them. Their attitude are so unpleasant by rolling eyes when we asked to repeat the plan where was not clear. The second visit when we claimed about the miss leading and giving the plan that we didn't want, the agent kept repeating an untrue statement without listening and conserning about a realistic statement on costumer. Suddenly he said you are over talking me and yelling at me, he walked away to the back room without letting us how we can resolve the problem. We asked another agent to see if the manager is available. The manager showed up very unpolitely said they didn't set this unwanted plan for us, they can't do anything about it. This place boggles the mind!! I went in to return a power adapter and was told I had to check in and there were 5 people ahead of me! You mean I have to wait an hour while people discuss which smartphone to buy and what calling plan to choose when all I want to do is return a $30 accessory which should take less than a minute to do? I actually called Verizon and they couldn't believe this was how they operated the Corte Madera store either. They put me through to the store where I had to make an appointment to return my power adapter. RIDICULOUS ! Does anyone in authority actually read these reviews? I had my phone stolen and I went to the Verizon store to replace it, not realizing that I needed to call the insurance number to replace the phone. So when I got there and told them what happened they show me the number to call. That was problematic because my only phone had been stolen, which is what I told him. This comment was met with a blank stare. So I asked if there was I phone I could use ( half expecting them to call) and he just pointed to the display phones and said I could use one of those. I did use one and it was a bit awkward since I standing in the middle of the store giving away personal information such as SS# and CC# while chained to the display. What can I say, I should have read the reviews first before showing up. I came in once when I was just browsing and had a representative try to bend over backwards to sell me (I think his name was Sun or something to that effect.) I wish I could remember his name because he was willing to make a sale. When I returned a month later to actually buy a phone and switch from ATT, it took me several times to remind the "Greeter" that I needed assistance. After finally being approached by a salesperson, I asked why the phone I wanted was a full $100 more expensive than it was last month. She told me it was a promotion and it's REALLY important to hop on those deals when they pop up. I then told her I could find it much cheaper online and she told me that they cannot price match with anyone. That was it, no attempt to make a deal or any discounts or anything to make it more affordable. Awesome, so what you're telling me is that this store's only function is to rip people off and display phones. Do yourself a favor and go through Amazon if you're going to get a phone from Verizon, they at least ship to you in 2 business days for free and give you a pretty hefty discount on the phone. I also found Amazon's website more personable than any of their employees (save for the first one I met.) read more

I'm writing this review about the GREENBRAE location, who doesn't seem to even be on Yelp! Big surprise -- Because I went into that store four different times, and no one could help me accomplish what I needed to. So it seems like they are inadequate in every other department, (including how to sign up for Yelp page). All I wanted to do when I went in was to sell an old phone that was no longer active. On the first visit the individual was able to give me a price but said I had to go home and unlock it first. Fast forward to the fourth time, after I had on my own, at home figured out how to wipe the memory and all of its contents myself. I returned with a completely restored phone. The individual that helped me after I set up my Verizon online account, could still not accomplish getting the trade-in value and assigning it to my bill, as was stated could be done in the beginning. Not only that, but she was completely unprofessional while doing so: acting as if it was an inconvenience that I was there, chewing her gum loudly in my face, and in the end sending me home to do it by myself on my computer at home. What service! To me, the store has been useless and definitely needs some better trained staff. (if it had been their own page, I would have given it one star.. compromising on three so as to give Corte Madera the benefit of the doubt.) read more

Should have known from the overall 1.5 rating here. Bought an accessory. It was defective. Needed to make a return. The people could not have possibly been more unhelpful in this situation. Both the store manager and every person I came into contact with were extremely rude and went out of their way to make the process difficult for me. I suspect the attitude trickles down from the GM, because no fewer than 5 people had a tremendously rude and unhelpful attitude. I would stay far, far away from this Verizon store. read more

The employees are very nice here, but the process of getting help is terrible. This is a management issue. I dropped in yesterday to get a case for my iPhone 5 and was put on the "waiting list" by the greeter. I was told they needed to get this item from the back, so I had to wait in line with all the people who were researching and buying more complicated products like phones. There was no one to simply go in back and make a quick order and customer out of me. What should have taken 5 minutes would have turned into potentially 15 - 30 as there were 5 people before me. This makes no sense. I will not give Verizon in Corte Madera my business in the future. They should pay attention to these Yelp ratings as clearly I'm not the only one. This system is worse than DMV. At least DMV has changed their process to provide better service. read more

Sounds like others had a bad time, but my experience was shockingly easy. My husband and I went there for new phones and to switch our service. The salesman, Carlos, was really helpful and didn't try to sell me on a bigger plan (we got the cheapest) or anything extra. He transferred my number and my contacts to my new phone and it was simple as that. I was prepared to walk out if the service was bad... what a pleasant surprise! No more T-Mobile for me. read more

I absolutely dread going into this store in Corte Madera. I totally agree, the entire staff needs to be re-trained on customer service. I have had to go into this store several times because of faulty phones malfunctioning and every experience has been horrible. I actually refuse to step foot into this store ever again. The Verizon store in Novato is much better. I need a new phone again and Ive been a Verizon customer for 9 years and they will not upgrade my phone until February 2013. The USB port broke on my Droid Charge and I have to remove the battery seperately to charge the phone. My contract is up in September so I am going to cancel and take my business elsewhere. Wow. Unbelievable. My daughter buys me an accessory for my phone for my birthday in the middle of november. About a month later, before xmas i have the piece unopened factory sealed, and the receipt, and i go to get a refund. sorry after two weeks we can only give you an exchange or a credit on another item. all their items are overpriced. what pisses me off is that i spend close to $300 per month to Verizon. I don't complain. They are a gazillion dollar company and i am a little peon. Seriously, this store is amazing. So incredibly helpful every time I go in. I've been around in Marin a long time and walking into a Verizon store used to be my worst nightmare. Now, they help with things I can't even thank them enough for. I've had personal interactions with Lisa, Nate, James, and Mark and they are so wonderful that I took the time (and I have two kids and work full time) to come mention them by name here. I have every member of my family on a family plan and I'm so thankful this place can help me with all my needs. I never thought Id be so happy to walk into a cell phone store. I went to buy a new battery for my -two year- old flip phone, a phone that out-performs all my associates' phones in reception and clarity. SORRY, no batteries available. They then tried to sell me a 'smart' phone. NO THANKS. Finally, they convinced me to switch from AT&T to Verizon on my home phone, using a wireless base unit with a cheap monthly plan. Assured me that I would get great reception. Didn't happen. Horrible reception, dropped calls, tinny audio. Went to bring it back and was greeted by some smug punk wearing a computer tablet that he didn't know how to use. Told me that the wait would be 45 minutes. Finally got my turn, super pissed now, had to wait another 20 minutes while the employee flailed-away, blaming the delay on a slow computer. I thought the nightmare was over until I woke-up the next morning. Apparently I had missed two very important calls on my cellphone because SOMEHOW my cell account had been cancelled by the clowns at the store when they had shutdown the temporary, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, # on the home phone base unit that I had returned. Took 30 more minutes on the phone with Verizon to rectify. LAME. read more

This store gives Verizon wireless a bad name. I was told the wait would be 45 minutes to 1 hour, and was there with my 10 year old son, we went and had lunch and came back in hour. I was told there were a couple of people in front of me and it would be another 20 minutes. Went and shopped at another store, came back in 20 minutes and they said the same thing.... we waited over 2 hours and still were never helped. I left and am so mad, that I will go with another provider as soon as my contract runs out. If they told me upfront that the wait could be 2 hours I would have never waited and all would be good. Its interesting how many bad reviews this store has received. Every time I have gone into this store, even when Im not the happiest customer, I still feel like these employees do as good as they can. I have always had satisfactory customer service. I mean come on these people arent Superheros. They are just the middle people who help you as much as they can with your devices. They are working for a huge corporation meaning they have to go by certain protocols.. ANYWAY.. my whole reason to this posting is to give major kudos to NATHAN GUIDLO. He has gone above and beyond with helping me. I was unable to come into the store to get my devices for my company. So he went ahead and sent them to me. So that I would get them sooner. He even activated everything for me and on top of that he even did all of my rebates for me. All I had to do was sign them, put a stamp on it and send it out. Thank you so much for your help! I was not a happy camper entering the store as I had already had a bad experience trying to buy a smart phone at another retailer. But, lucky me - like Sarah H (see review below) I was directed to Matt Bertao after waiting in a queue for about 20 minutes. But it was worth the wait. I purchased my Motorola Droid from Matt who then loaded it with my 186 contacts from my very old Nokia cell. He then researched a couple of apps for some special requirements I had and downloaded one of them. We opened my google account and he set up my voicemail. He was completely patient with me and the experience was a pleasure. I left with everything I needed and a working knowledge of how the phone functions. I plan to attend one of their workshops as I found the manual that comes with the phone pretty useless. ( But there are excellent on-line forums available for the Droid.) While at the store I noticed it was very crowded and people with simple requests (e.g. wanting to buy an accessory) were waiting much too long - so my review is pretty specific to the service I received from Matt. I had initially given this store 1 star. I had to wait 45 minutes for a minor issue. The woman who checked me in admitted that it would only take me 3 minutes to get what I needed but then cheerfully told me that it would take 45 minutes for me to talk to someone. I finally met with Justin. He was incredibly rude and smarmy and talked down to me. Luckily, I was able to speak with the manager, James. He was so nice and helpful. By far some of the worst customer service I have ever received. Also I'm not the primary on the account and the person who is lives across the country and the person who was "helping" me knew that but failed to warn me that I would need a pin number to even begin the setup on the phone. I had not been out of the store for more than 5min. So I walk back in to get the pin number that I'm sure he knew I would need since I now had no way to get in contact with the person across the country. He is now helping someone else and doesn't bother to even acknowledge I am standing in the store, instead a really rude older gentleman comes over and rudely ask me how I got the phone if I'm not the account holder even though he clearly just saw me working with the other person no more than 10min or so. Overall its obvious I was being judged based on looking like I didn't have the money to be in there which is comical considering the people judging me are selling cell phones. read more

This is the place to get your help if you are willing to spend some time in the store. I have to put a shout out for the women Lotoya and Lisa, who gave me some good instruction about the mechanics of the phone and help resolve some challenges I was having with the information regarding the differences of service centers. I found out that the Corte Madera store is like the main center vs the dealership type stores found in Novato and Terra Linda. whose main concern is to sell you a phone vs trying to resolve what is best for the customer. I applaud this store and have found them very encouraging as well as very customer service orientated. This store also offers lessons to those of us who not tech savy (on the weekends).Yes, since this store is the main hub and is very busy. I did find that if I went during the week and in mid afternoon to be good times not to have wait too long. read more
